Prominent Youtube user Flula made a Techno banger with the cast of Anchorman 2 recently, further extending the insane press junket the cast has been doing for this film. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the cast are a little run down after all the wild promotions they've had to go through for this film! It's part of the job  though I suppose, and they seem to be having a little bit of fun.

Six new photos have surfaced from the RoboCop remake directed by Jose Padilha. This movie looks like it's going to be so cool. I just hope it ends up being as awesome as it looks.

Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

The movie stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The movie is set to open up in theaters and IMAX on February 12th.

Lee Pace Says GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will Kick Ass

Of course an actor from the movie he's working on is going to say that it's going to kick ass! But in the case of James Gunn's The Guardians of the Galaxy, it really will be. In a recent interview with Total Film, Lee Pace talked about the film and the type of roles that he has been playing recently, saying that he's not sure if he'll ever play a human character again.

"A racoon with a machine gun! It's been quite an interesting year. I don't know if I'll ever play a human again! I was a vampire in Twilight, the king of the elves in The Hobbit and now an alien warlord in Guardians of the Galaxy"

Pace goes on to talk about his experience playing the villain Ronan the Accuser, and how the movie is going to kick ass.

"It was awesome! That movie's going to kick ass! We've just knocked it out of the park, it's going to be wild! I kept looking over at [director] James Gunn saying, 'Is it too much? Am I over the top? Pull me back whenever you're ready!' And he was like, 'More, more!' He's a true villain!”

Damn! Sounds like the actor just went all out villain crazy in this one! I can't wait to see what he does with this character. He's then asked if he ever read comics growing up, to which he replied,

"I'm a very curious person, I don't leave any stone unturned. I remember being interested in comics and I really liked Silver Surfer. Guardians of the Galaxy is a bit deeper into the Marvel Universe, which I think is to its advantage. Iron Man was something that people were not super-familiar with when that movie first came out. I think people are certainly going to like this film and I certainly hope they do. It's fun!"

Guardians of the Galaxy comes out in theaters on August 1st, 2014, and there's no doubt in my mind it's going to be a huge hit with Marvel movie fans.

AMC has released another promo trailer for their new 1778 Revolutionary War series Turn, which tells the untold story of America's first spy ring. This looks like it will end up being another incredible series from the network. I'm a big history buff, so I think it will be cool to see this story brought to life.

Turn is a spy thriller set during the American Revolutionary War. Based on remarkable new research featured in the book “Washington’s Spies,” by Alexander Rose, it tells the untold story of America’s first spies. “Turn” follows Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island, who bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring, an unlikely team of secret agents who would help turn the tide of the war in favor of the Rebels. Their daring efforts also revolutionized the art of espionage, giving birth to modern tradecraft as we know it today, along with all of the moral complexity that entails.

The series pilot was directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and it will be released sometime in spring of 2014.

We've got another trailer for you to watch for the David Ayer-directed action thriller Sabotage! I'm a fan of Ayer's work, and this movie looks like it's going to be awesome!  It's got a great cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Josh Holloway, Malin Akerman, Terrence Howard, Mireille Enos, Joe Mangianello, Olivia Williams, Max Martini, and Dawn Olivieri.

The story follows "an elite DEA task force dealing with the world's deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one."

The movie comes out on April 11th, 2014 and I can't wait!

We've got an adorable live-action/animated short for you to watch today called Harley. It tells the story of a guy who wants to return a fish he bought the night before because of how ugly the fish is. Not sure why he bought it in the first place, but that's not the point of the story! The short was directed by Tom Teller, and here's a note,

Harley is the short film I created for my Intermediate Production class at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. I've poured more than 200 hours into this project and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It was a blast creating this short all the way from conceptualization to the final screening, thank you so much to everyone who helped me make this a reality. Enjoy!

I really enjoy the short and thought it turned out great!

I love watching these things because it gives you a little glimpse of what it's like to be in the set of a film, and I love being on the set of a film.  The movie is set to be released on December 25th!

NEED FOR SPEED Car Stunt Featurette

need-for-speed-car-stunt-featurette.jpg

Here's a really cool featurette for Need For Speed featuring Stunt Coordinator Lance Gilbert talking about and showing off one of the major car stunts that was done for the film. To effectively pull off this stunt, the cars needed to be going 200mph. This is just one of several car stunts that will be included in the movie. The stuff they are doing with the film sure looks awesome! Gilbert also talks a little bit about his career as a stuntman in the video.

Need for Speed races into theaters on March 14th, 2014. It looks like it's going to be a great looking film visually -- let's just hope the story, script and acting turn out just as good because the trailer does seem pretty cheesy. I am excited about the movie, so we'll see!

First Film Clip from the Sci-Fi Thriller DIVERGENT

Summit Entertainment has released the first film clip from Divergent. It features a little romantic scene between Shailene Woodley and Theo James. The studio obviously released this for the fans of the young adult novel the film is based off of because anyone not familiar with the book will most like watch this and write off the movie. Maybe they should have released something a little more exciting to help get the broader audience interested.

DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.

The movie was directed by Neil Burger, and it also stars Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, and Zoë Kravitz. It will be released in theaters and IMAX March 21st, 2014.

JONNY QUEST Movie Being Developed by Peter Segal

I grew up watching reruns of the 1960s animated series Jonny Quest. It was always fun to watch, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I don't really care that a live-action movie is going into development, but it's happening, and I guess there's an audience out there for it.

Grudge Match director Peter Segal talked to Comingsoon recently and revealed that he is currently developing the film saying,

"I would love to make that my next movie… We just hired a writer to do another pass. We already have a very good script. Then we go through budgeting hell and trying to get it into shape."

Segal has also directed films such as 50 First Dates, Get Smart, The Longest Yard, Tommy Boy, Anger Management and more. I'm not really sure what to expect from the movie, but I can't help but think it will be a mediocre film.

The original animated series ran from 1964 - 1965, and only lasted 26 episodes. The series centers on Jonny, the 11-year-old son of scientist Dr. Benton Quest. Along for the adventure was Hadji Singh, the gifted 11-year-old Calcutta orphan who was adopted by Dr. Quest, and Quest's tough and charistmatic bodyguard, Race Bannon.

Are any of our readers excited about a Jonny Quest film?

Here's a very touching short film for you to watch called From 1994. It's a simple film with a simple premise that has a powerful message. The movie was directed by Casey Warren, who says,

I made this story in memory of my mom.

"What you say to a loved one if you only had one chance to say it all?" From 1994 seeks to answer this along with the importance of remembering those who we've lost in our lives. We are incredibly humbled by all those who supported our project and want to say thank you for all those involved. It has been our labor of love and we are excited to finally release it. -Casey & Danielle"

It's a beautifully made short that might actually make you cry.

Storyboard Art for Steven Spielberg's ROBOPOCALYPSE

Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse is currently on hold, but hopefully one day the production will move forward. In the meantime, here is some cool storyboard art from the film that was created.

The film is based on the book written by Daniel H. Wilson. The movie would have starred Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises), and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall). The script is being written by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), so we know that is going to be a solid script, once it's finished. Right now it's being reworked for budget issues.

The art comes from Michael Anthony Jackson via CBM.

Vin Diesel Is Officially Groot in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Vin Diesel's name has been attached to the character Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy for a few months now, but his casting has now been made official! It's not really surprising, but here's what director James Gunn had to say about it on Facebook,

"Yep it is completely official. AND he’s amazing. I never knew someone could say I AM GROOT so many different ways and with such feeling (and that sounds like I’m kidding but I’m not!)

"He was never announced. He said he wanted to do it and we said we were talking to him. Everything else was people guessing and thinking they knew what was going to happen. … Also I hope this puts to rest all the silly Thanos-Vin stuff which people just seemed to make up out of nothing."

I still think Diesel is going to end up playing Thanos. Casting him as Groot, and having Gunn say what he says is a good way for Marvel to cover it up, though! Diesel can say "I am Groot" all he wants and still play Thanos.

As for the photo above, it features Diesel with a bust of the character he will be voicing for reference. The director explains,

"This was the bust we used for reference when shooting. It has changed slightly from this since we started animating him. … [It was made by] David White and his team based on Charlie Wen and his team’s designs."

The Marvel press release also offers up this bit of information,

In the far reaches of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an unlikely cast of characters including Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket Raccoon must join forces to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions.

The movie comes out on August 1st, 2014, and the rest of the main characters include Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Drax (Dave Bautista).

I've got some incredibly cool fan art for you to check out today! These illustrations were inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic sci-fi fantasy Barsoom series featuring John Carter of Mars, and they were created by CGHUB artist americanbean. I loved those books, and these illustrations are beautiful. I also have to say I think Disney did a great job with the movie. I really enjoyed it, and it's a shame that it ended up bombing at the box office.
