Japanese Trailer for GODZILLA

amazing-first-trailer-for-godzilla.jpg

Yesterday we got our first trailer for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, and it looks amazing! Today we have a Japanese trailer, and it includes some more new footage, some of which features Ken Watanabe. I'm really excited about this movie. I think Edwards has done a fantastic job with this movie, and I really love what I'm seeing. I think Godzilla fans are going to be really happy with the outcome.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

The movie will be released May 16th, 2014, and it stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston.

Trailer for Nicolas Cage's Thriller TOKAREV

Nicolas Cage has made another generic thriller called Tokarev, and this is the trailer for it. Cage plays a reformed criminal whose daughter is kidnapped and killed by the Russian mob. He's asked not to seek revenge, but of course he rounds up his old crew seeking justice. The movie also stars Danny Glover as a cop, but let's be honest, he's really too old for this shit. The reason Cage is doing movies like this is because he's in hot water with the IRS, and he just really needs the money.

The movie also stars Rachel Nichols and Peter Stormare, and as of right now there is no release date.

This is seriously the most entertaining wedding ceremony I've ever seen. When the priest asks for any objections, the action begins, and it just escalates from there! The groom ends up taking on a knight, a group of ninjas, angry bellhops, even Iron Man, Batman, and WWE legend Jimmy Hart show up for the fun. Every wedding should have at least one fight sequence! James McAvoy on X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and Returning for APOCALYPSE

Since Byran Singer announced X-Men: Apocalypse there have been a ton of reports and rumors about who will be back for the series, and what the story will entail. The only thing Singer has said about the project since it was announced is... "Apocalypse is not an Alien." That was in regards to one of the big rumors that hit the internet.

James McAvoy reveals he didn't know anything about the project until Singer sent that announcement Tweet out. So he found out along with the rest of us. While speaking with Red Carpet News TV he said, "I only heard about it this morning!" He didn't confirm his involvement with the film, but the actor does mention that he's contracted to make a third movie, so I'm sure he'll be there. He goes on to talk about the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, saying that it's "The biggest X-Men film yet, without a doubt." It makes sense that it would be, after all... the movie is the second most expensive movie ever made. He went on to discuss his character, saying,

"The personal pleasure for me in 'First Class' was presenting a Charles Xavier to the fans, but also a new audience, who's very different from the Charles that you expected. But he was still very sort of 'Everything's going good!' In the second movie I get to present another version of Charles Xavier who's still very different from the Charles that used to exist, but he's also remarkably different from the Charles in 'First Class' as well. So what's great is that even though it's a sequel, even though it's a franchise, I keep getting to reinvent Charles Xavier and that's amazing. I've got to do it twice now, because the Charles in this film is unrecognizable from the Charles in the last film as well unrecognizable from the Charles played by Patrick Stewart, who I then get to face up to. That's sort of theatrical almost, it's like we're playing a game with the audience saying 'Look at the many faces of Charles-Patrick-Stewart-Xavier-McAvoy. It's really good fun."

The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 23rd, 2014, and there's no doubt in my mind that it's going to be a gloriously epic X-Men film!

hilarious-medieval-adventure-cg-animated-short-850-meters.jpg

You've got to watch this incredibly entertaining CG animated short film called "850 Meters." It's a medieval fantasy adventure comedy that I really enjoyed watching! I thought it was hilarious. The movie was written and directed by Joeri Christiaen, and this is the synopsis,

A not-so-brave knight is on a quest for Fame and Fortune - legend says rescuing a princess is the way to go. And in those same fairy tales, there's only one way to slay the dragon that hold the fair lady captive : find the invincible sword. To reach his goal, the knight is ready to go far. Maybe even as far as 850 meters...

I really hope you you enjoy this one as much as did. It's almost 15 minutes long, and it's worth your time to watch!

BAD BOYS 3 Is Getting a Screenwriter

Sony Pictures is looking to get a third Bad Boys movie into production, and they are looking at hiring Safe House writer David Guggenheim to take a crack at the script. I never thought we'd see another Bad Boys movie, but the studio obviously wants to push it forward. They are also looking to bring back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to reprise their roles as the crazy undercover cops who fight crime with big gun battles, lots of explosions, chaotic destruction, and harsh language.

Michael Bay directed the first two movies, but it doesn't look like he'll be coming back for the third. He's all about Transformers now! It's fine though, it shouldn't be hard for the studio to find a replacement who can mimic Bay's directing style.

Bad Boys is a fun, over the top action franchise. If they made another one that looked just as entertaining, I'd watch it. They aren't the greatest movies in the world, but they are fun to watch, and I enjoy going to the movies for a fun time.

Here is yet another end of the year video montage that takes us on a journey through many of the films of 2013. The video is called "Filmography 2013," and it was edited together by Gen Ip, who explains,

This video takes 300 of this year’s films and distills it into a 7-minute exploration of the ideas we keep coming back to: the purpose of life, the nature of evil, the mystery of death, the power of love, and the inevitability of time. Or, it’s just a pretty cool mashup of movies from 2013. Either way: I hope you enjoy.

The video turned out great! Thanks to /Film!

NBC Greenlights ROSEMARY'S BABY Miniseries

Earlier this year is was reported that NBC was looking to develop a new series based on the horror thriller Rosemary's Baby. The network is moving forward with the series and have greenlit it as a four-hour miniseries.

The series will be based on the 1967 Ira Levin novel, which was previously adapted into a film by director Roman Polanski

According to THR the NBC version of the story will "revolve around a young married couple who move into a Paris apartment that has a haunted past. After getting pregnant, the wife becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their neighbors have ulterior motives regarding the child’s birth."

NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke had this to say in a statement,

“As we move into the event movie and miniseries space, ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ represents the kind of attention-getting, surprising project that will make noise for us. The story has been updated and moved to Paris, but it’s faithful to the spirit of Ira Levin’s classic novel. This is a compelling tale wonderfully told.”

This is such a great and creepy story. Polanski's film is a favorite of mine, and I hope that NBC is about to turn the story into a great miniseries. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it. Hopefully they are able to deliver the full craziness of the story!

UNCHARTED 2: Journey to Shambala Art by Christopher Clancy

Uncharted 2 is truly a classic, a fact that I just now learned with my first completed playthrough over the last week or two. It certainly deserves all of its accolades, and Christopher Clancy, artist of the piece you see above, evidently feels the same way. All the characters you love, and even the ones you grow to hate (looking at you, Flynn), are here, mixed with some locales you travel to along the way, and all blended into a design resembling the dagger at the center of it all. Lots of elements at play here, but they all come together nicely, and it's a piece worth spotlighting. If you dig his art style, head over to his Deviant Art page to catch more of his fantastic work, and make sure to leave a comment or two.

Disney has released three new featurettes for their upcoming film Saving Mr. Banks. I had a chance to see the movie recently, and I absolutely loved it. It ended up being one of my favorite films of the year. Stay tuned for my review of the film tomorrow.

The movie tells the true and fascinating untold story of how Disney’s classic film Mary Poppins made it to the the big screen, including the "testy relationship that the legendary Walt Disney had with author P.L. Travers that almost derailed it." The video featurettes focus on Tom Hanks, the music in the film, and the story. Like all featurettes they include interviews with the cast and crew, as well as new footage from the film.

The movie comes out on December 13th, and it a movie that you have to see.

This cool little piece of beautiful animation was created by Richard Swarbrick for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special. It was then tweaked a little by YouTuber TheFlixx and very appropriately set to the classic 1985 song "Take on Me" by A-ha. The video turned out perfect. I also included the original video without the music for you to watch in case you missed it.

CGHUB artist Darren Bartley a.k.a. FightPUNCH has added a few more captivatingly cool character designs to his series of Sci-Fi military art. This artist has done a ton of awesome art that we've posted that you can see right here. That first picture above looks insanely uncomfortable. Especially with the whole face stretch thing going on. I love the amount of detail that the artist puts into his work.

Trailer for the CG Animated Film LEGENDS OF OZ: DOROTHY'S RETURN

trailer-for-the-cg-animated-film-legends-of-oz-dorothys-return.jpg

Here's the first full trailer for the CG animated adventure Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, which is basically a sequel to L. Frank Baum's classic novel The Wizard of Oz. The world of Oz is as popular as ever these days, with Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful, the sequel they are developing, the stage play Wicked, and more. It's such a great world that is fun to see brought to life. I will say this movie doesn't really look that impressive, but my kids really want to see it, so there you have it.

The movie stars the voices of Lea Michele as Dorothy, Dan Aykroyd as Scarecrow, Kelsey Grammer as the Tin Man, Jim Belushi as the not so cowardly Lion, and Martin Short as the villain Jester. It also co-stars Oliver Platt, Patrick Stewart, and Bernadette Peters.

Dorothy returns to Kansas to find it devastated by the tornado that had whisked her away to Oz. The home she has been so desperate to return to is severely damaged, and the townspeople are packing up and moving out. But shortly after arriving in Kansas, Dorothy is magically transported back to Oz.

She finds out that Oz is in trouble, and the people there need her help. Dorothy’s old friends – the Scarecrow, Tin Man and the formerly Cowardly Lion – have disappeared and Oz is in a state of decay. As Dorothy journeys to find her friends, she encounters a number of new companions and problems including a man made of marshmallows who can’t think for himself; a china doll princess whose bossiness is a cover for her fragility; and a tugboat with as many personalities as he has pieces. Dorothy must help this odd group band together against a new villain – a wicked Jester who thinks all of Oz should be under his control.

The movie is set to be released on May 9th, 2014!

Luke Evans on THE CROW Reboot and Comic Integrity

The new film project for The Crow seems to be coming together quickly. Luke Evans is set to star in the film, and Norman Reedus might also be joining the production. Since the film is still in pre-production, there's still very little information on how the story will be portrayed, but in a recently interview with Metro UK, Evans talks about Brandon Lee and explains that it will keep the integrity of the original comic.

"It is incredibly sad that Brandon died making the movie. He was a very talented actor. It is a very beautiful story, The Crow. It is a very tragic story with huge emotional themes. We plan to tell the story differently and with a lot of integrity to the original comic book."

Comic creator James O'Barr is working as a creative consultant on the film to help guide it in the right direction, and I think that gives comfort to a lot of fans. The movie will be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez from a script by Cliff Dorfman. I think this movie could actually end up being good. Production on the film will start in 2014, and as of right now there is no release date set.

Here's a fun clip from Ben Stiller's upcoming film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It features the title character on one of his adventures as he jumps out of a helicopter and into the freezing cold ocean. There he ends up being attacked by a shark, which is always a good time. If you haven't tried it yet, you definitely should. It's quite the adrenaline rush. The amazing-looking imaginative adventure film comes out on December 25th! Enjoy the clip thanks to Empire!

SAVING MR. BANKS Movie Review

saving-mr-banks-movie-review.jpg

I grew up watching the classic Disney film Mary Poppins. It is one of my mom's favorite movies, and of course, it ended up becoming one of my favorites as well. I had no idea what the story was in trying to get this movie made until Disney first announced the film Saving Mr. Banks. The moment I found out what the movie was about, I was instantly interested and excited about seeing it! Now having seen the film, I'm happy to say that it was practically perfect in every way. Yes, I just went there and quoted a line from Mary Poppins, but I mean it! That statement is true! I can honestly say that Saving Mr. Banks is one of my favorite films of the year, and it was practically a flawless film… in my eyes at least. I'm sure there are some people out there that didn't like it, but maybe those people don't have souls.

The movie tells the story of the relationship between Walt Disney and P.L. Travers as he was trying to get her to sign over the rights to her book so that he could turn it into a movie. Walt spent 20 years trying to get the rights to the book, and the movie focuses on his final attempt at making it happen. Travers absolutely hated the idea of him turning her beloved novel into a Disney movie, and she made it very difficult for everyone working on the project. But over time the idea started to grow on her, and she started to see the light, then one day Walt was able to close the deal. It was a very fun and entertaining journey that I think most audiences will enjoy even if they aren't big fans of Mary Poppins

One of my favorite story aspects of the film was how it seamlessly jumped from one time period to another. While telling the story of Travers working on the script and development of Mary Poppins with the creative team, it also focused on her experiences as a child that inspired her to write Mary Poppins, and what they all meant. The movie is a perfect companion piece to the original Mary Poppins film, and I think it makes that movie even better knowing everything that happened to get it made. The next time I watch Mary Poppins it will almost be like watching it again through a new set of eyes. I'm actually looking forward to it.

The other thing that I really loved about the movie was the acting. The movie starred Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Collin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Bradley Whitford, B.J. Novak, and Jason Schwartzman. All of them give incredible, award-worthy performances! I think Hanks, Thompson and Farrell all need to be nominated for their performances. I was so happy with the cast of the film as they flawlessly brought these people to life for us.

Saving Mr. Banks is easily one of the best movies of the year. It's full of heart and soul, and it hits all of those incredible emotions you want to feel while watching a movie. It's a beautifully told story that leaves you feeling really good and happy at the end. If you enjoy watching movies, then you need to see this film, because it's one of the best that you'll see this year!

Here's the official story synopsis:

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

Wow... it's fun to take a trip down memory lane with this Remember video series created by Siminz a.k.a. "The Peterson." I forgot a lot of stuff that went down in the years 1986, 1990, 1994, and 2006 until I saw these video compilations from Slacktory. They really brought back some good, and not so good, memories from those years. These are all pretty entertaining, and I hope you enjoy them! Sometimes I miss the good ol' days.

Samuel L. Jackson in Talks to Join TARZAN

Samuel L. Jackson is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to join their big screen live-action adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan. If cast, he will join Alexander Skarsgard and Christoph Waltz in the David Yates directed film.

There's no word on who Jackson will play in the film, but I doubt it will be Nick Fury trying to recruit Tarzan into the Avengers. Jamie Foxx, was up for the part at one point but couldn't do it because of scheduling conflicts. But the part must be a good sized role.

There's also no information on how the story will be adapted for the big screen, but if you've read the book, or seen any of the movies, then you have a pretty good idea of what the story will be. I'm just curious to see how it will look.

The movie still has yet to get an official greenlight, but if they are casting for it then it must be getting really close. Jackson is sure to make a great addition! It was also reported that Wolf of Wall Street actress Margot Robbie is the studio’s top choice to play Jane in the film, but as of right now no offer has been made.

This is for all you gamers out there whole like to bathe with your video game cartridges, because now they come as actual soap! As you can see, they are super realistic looking, and they represent Super Nintendo and Gameboy. Firebox is selling the life-size cartridge soaps that have a 'invigorating energy citrus' scent. The Super Nintendo and Game Boy cartridge soaps are available for pre-order. The Super Nintendo cartridges go for $21 a piece, and the Game Boy ones $11, so they aren't cheap! That's actually pretty expensive for soap. But, if you're a hardcore gamer bather, then this is the price you have to pay.

Electro Arrives Viral Site Found in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Trailer

Fans have discovered a URL in the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that leads to a viral site for the film called Electro Arrives, and it shows Harry Osborn looking over a computer screen with a countdown to something that will happen 19 days from now. Obviously it has something to do with Electro, but what? Maybe another trailer that focuses on Electro? I guess we'll eventually find out!

My best guess is that it's a countdown to the new footage that will be shown at New York City's Times Square on New Year's Eve. It makes sense that they would release it online simultaneously.
