The Weinstein Company is looking to get into the TV business, and they are in the process of developing several TV series, including adaptations of Frank Miller's Sin City and Stephen King's The Mist. Both of these are properties that have potential to be great series.

While talking to the New York Times, Harvey Weinstein talked about their TV division, saying, “The way to add stability to the company is to be in the television business,”  he then went on to say that his goal was to have a television operation “as powerful as the theatrical division.”

They currently have more than a half a dozen series in development, those series include:

  • A 10-part series with Frank Darabont, based on Dimension’s film version of Stephen King’s The Mist.
  • Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez would develop a Sin City TV series.
  • A 10-episode detective drama set in ancient Egypt called Book of the Dead.
  • A 10-episode series called 10 Commandments, based on one of the commandments handed to Moses.
  • A martial arts-filled adventure series called Marco Polo.
  • A 14-episode retelling of Tolstoy’s Napoleonic war novel War and Peace.
  • Stan and Ollie, which is about the later days of the Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy comedy team.
  • An Entourage-like comic series, based loosely on the adventures of the celebrity chef Michael Chiarello.
  • There's also potential for a series based on David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook.
  • Then there's the previously announced Scream series.

All of these are in the early stages of planning, but there is a lot of potential here for some really good series that audiences can enjoy. What do you think of these projects, and which ones are you most excited for?

Here's a hilarious video featuring Conan O'Brien playing World of Warcraft at BlizzCon 2013. While playing he provides some funny commentary on the game, which he obviously doesn't understand. I don't play World of Warcraft, but if I did, I would probably be a smartass.

The movie will be released on May 2nd, 2014, and it's gonna be good!

First Look at Daniel Radcliffe as Igor in FRANKENSTEIN

We've already heard that the Igor in Paul McGuigan’s adaptation of Frankenstein was going to be very different from anything we've seen before. The character is being played by Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe, and as you can see, he's not sporting the hunchback that Igor has become famous for.

The movie has been described as a sci-fi take on the original Mary Shelley story, which focuses on themes of friendship and redemption. In a previous interview, screenwriter Max Landis revealed that it will be a period piece told from the perspective of the character Igor, and all the interesting misconceptions surrounding the mythology of the story and character. The movie will explore where Igor came from, and if Victor Frankenstein was actually a doctor or a drop out. Igor has also been described as being pathologically dirty and dressed in old clown's clothing. Radcliffe has this to say about the movie in a previous interview,

"[Landis] taken the mythologies that we all think we know — we have this idea of a monster and a crazy scientist and kind of a hunchbacked assistant — but we don't really know where all these parts came from.

"I think what Max has done with this is first of all he's given Igor a backstory which you never really see before. And so, that’s I think one of the biggest differences is that you'll finally see him granted a life and a backstory and it's about these two young guys at the forefront of science."

The movie will hit theaters on January 16th, 2015.

Smaller Budgeted DC Comics Movies Going into Development

It looks like Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are going to start developing some smaller budgeted superhero films. They will be based on some of DC Comics lesser known characters.

The news comes from Bleeding Cool, who reports that Suicide Squad is one property that is specifically mentioned and that it will only need a $40 million budget. Some of the other movies could be made for as little as $20 million. I wonder if these films will expand the already existing universe created by Zack Snyder for Man of Steel and the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman movie.

The other thing they say is that these movies will be coming to us twice a year in the Spring and Fall/Autumn seasons. This is a great idea, and the studio is sure to make a great profit from the films, which also could include characters such as Booster Gold and Deathstroke. I'm excited to see what they end up giving the fans!

What other DC universe characters would you like to see brought to the big screen?

The mid-season finale episode of The Walking Dead was freakin' insane! The intensity I felt watching it was off the charts! I was yelling at the top of my lungs. I won't spoil anything just in case you haven't seen it yet, but holy shit! It was quite the bloodbath. It was one of the most satisfying yet saddest episodes of the season so far, and I can't wait to see what happens when the show returns in February.

AMC has released a promo trailer showing us some scenes of what we can expect to see in the series, which is set to return on February 9th, 2014! I've also included some behind-the-scenes clips from last night's episode.

The Los Angeles Police Department has released a ridiculous public service announcement about keeping your car safe from zombie car burglars. It's called "Invasion of the Zombie Bandits." One thing is for sure, the LAPD lacks any kind of filmmaking skills.

"The zombies are coming! And they want your iPads!" The Los Angeles Police Department presents a parody of zombie movies and reality cop shows with an important message about car burglars: Lock it, Hide it, Keep it.

Lionsgate has released the first TV spot for Aaron Eckhart's supernatural action film I, Frankenstein. The movie looks like it will be an entertainingly silly film.

The story for the film comes from Kevin Grevioux, who also helped bring the Underworld films to the big screen. If you like those kinds of movies, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

200 years after his shocking creation, Dr. Frankenstein's creature, Adam, still walks the earth. But when he finds himself in the middle of a war over the fate of humanity, Adam discovers he holds the key that could destroy humankind.

The movie was directed by Stuart Beattie and is based on the graphic novel created by Grevioux, who also worked on the script. The cast also includes Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein.

The movie is set to be released on January 24th, 2014.

A couple of days ago a photo of a poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro leaked online. There was a little speck on there that gave us out first glimpse of the Green Goblin, but today we have a much clearer better look at the character, who appears to be Harry Osborn (played by Dane DeHaan), not Norman Osborn.

It's definitely an interesting, different look for the character. I'm not sure if i like it or not yet. I need to see more detail and see what he looks like in action.

The movie is set to be released on May 2nd, 2014, and the new trailer will be released in a few days! So stay tuned for that!

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Why Wolverine and Not Kitty Will Travel in Time in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

In the comic book version of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Kitty Pryde was the character sent back in time to set things right for the future. In the movie adaptation, Wolverine is the one sent back in time to do it. In a recent interview with Total Film, writer Simon Kinberg explains why they made the change. Here's what he said,

"We made the decision for a lot of reasons, some of them obvious and some of them more nuanced, to make it Wolverine who goes back in time. One reason is that he's the protagonist of the franchise, and probably the most beloved character to a mass audience. Probably the bigger reason is that when we started thinking about the logistical realities of Kitty's consciousness being sent back in time, to her younger self, as opposed to her physical body being sent back..it was impossible. Obviously in the book it's Kitty..but you're talking about an actress (Ellen Page) who, in the age of Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, would have been negative 20 years old. So we started thinking again, and the first reflex response to that was a character who doesn't age. Wolverine is the only character who would looks the same in 1973 as he does in the future."

That makes complete sense to me. I haven't really seen anyone complain about the change, but just in case you were wondering why they did it... there it is!

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in theaters on May 23rd, 2014. You can watch the trailer here if you want to remind you of the awesomeness that awaits.

Henry Cavill on Ben Affleck as Batman

In a few more months Zack Snyder will officially be starting production on Warner Bros' Batman Vs. Superman film. There's no solid story information on the film, but it's looking like Henry Cavill's Superman will be facing off against Ben Affleck's Batman. In a recent interview with Total Film, Cavill talked about Affleck's casting and explained why he thinks Affleck is good for the role.

"I'm sure he'll be fantastic, above all else, and as a filmmaker he's got his own style, you know, he's not copying anyone else. And he's also sort of been tenacious in his career. He's had ups followed by downs and now he's very up again and I think that requires and shows a very special strength of character, and it's something I enjoy working with because jobs like this require a strength of character. They require a dedication to the work and a belief in oneself and Ben has that, clearly."

I'm convinced that Affleck is going to be awesome as Batman, and I'm excited to see what he ends up doing with the character and how he makes it his own. The movie is set to be released on July 17th, 2015.

Inspiring Trailer for Mia Wasikowska's TRACKS

Mia Wasikowska is a fantastic young actress that has a long successful acting career ahead of her. She's been in films such as Jane Eyre, Stoker, Alice in Wonderland, Lawless, and several more. She was amazing in all of those, and now she's basically going to carry a whole film on her shoulders with Tracks, which is based on an inspiring true story. This looks like a beautifully shot film, and I'll be checking it out when it is released.

The movie also stars Adam Driver (HBO's Girls), and it comes from director John Curran (The Painted Veil, We Don't Live Here Anymore). Here's a detailed synopsis of the story,

Tracks is based on the inspirational and iconic true story of Robyn Davidson. Robyn's phenomenal solo trek from Alice Springs to Uluru and on to the Indian Ocean saw her traverse 2700km of spectacular yet unforgiving Australian desert accompanied only by her loyal dog and four unpredictable camels.

Charismatic young New Yorker and National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan travelled from the other end of the earth to capture, at intervals, this epic and remarkable journey into one of the world's last great wildernesses. Robyn reluctantly agreed to a visiting photographer in return for much needed trip funding and could only see Rick's visits as intruding on her solitude and compromising everything the journey meant to her. However, this uneasy relationship between two very different people would slowly develop into an unlikely and enduring friendship.

Set against one of the wildest, most dangerous and most breathtaking backdrops on the planet, this unprecedented journey pushed Robyn to her physical and emotional limits and taught her that sometimes we have to detach from the world to feel connected to it. In witnessing this extraordinary journey we realize that the impossible is within reach of us all.

The movie is expected to be released sometime next year.
