Colin Farrell Discusses WARCRAFT Movie Script

colin-farrell-discusses-warcraft-movie-script.jpg

Colin Farrell is rumored to be up for the lead role in Duncan Jones' highly anticipated fantasy epic Warcraft, based on Blizzard's Warcraft.  During an interview with IGN, Farrell was asked about the project, and its current status. In his reply he says that he's read the script, and that it's amazing!

"Don’t know what’s happening, man. I read the script, if that’s any use to you, and it’s amazing....Duncan was cool. I sat with Duncan for awhile and read the script, loved the script, and we was as cool as can be. I don’t know what’s happening with the film. I don’t know where they are in the process...It’s just a world that I never explored — and it’s a really big and fantastical world. I can’t imagine what he, being as visually gifted as he is, Duncan, and what he did on Moon with, like, a dime, I can’t imagine what he’d do with this Warcraft."

Sounds like a movie that is worth looking forward to! Farrell is then asked about what character he might be playing, and this is what he said,

"Can I? I probably shouldn’t. I don’t even know, actually, I’ll just say that! I don’t even know. We were just talking, and Duncan just said, 'There might be something in it for you!' And I said, 'Catering?' [Laughs]"

It was previously revealed that the story of the film will center on Anduin Lothar versus Durotan, the Human and Orc heroes from the original real-time strategy games. The movie will also be focused largely in the Eastern Kingdoms of Azeroth.

Paula Patton and Travis Fimmel (Vikings) are also rumored to be in negotiations to star in the film.

One day I am going to go to New Zealand to visit all the sites of Peter Jackson's Middle Earth. It's just one of those things I've always wanted to do, and it's on my bucket list. For those of you who have the same geeky dream as I do, here's a really cool Middle Earth travel guide infographic for you to look over that shows all of the sites we need to visit if we ever find ourselves in New Zealand.

History of DOCTOR WHO Illustrated Tapestry

As a tribute to Doctor Who and the upcoming 50th anniversary special, fan Bill Mudron created this awesome Doctor themed Bayeux Tapestry. It shows the entire history of the show, beginning when the Doctor runs away from his home planet of Gallifrey and ends with "The Day of the Doctor" special set to air on BBC One on November 23rd, 2013. You can click on the image above to enlarge.

Here's a note from the artist:

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, I drew this slightly ridiculous tribute to the Bayeaux Tapestry - I had originally intended this to be one 12-foot long image, but then I realized that if I were to ever turn this into a print that it would be impossible to frame (and difficult to view in one piece online), hence the more conventional 24x36-inch print available here.

THE WALKING DEAD Monopoly Game

walkingdeadmonopoly7584.jpg

What's your favorite Walking Dead Monopoly piece?! Think Geek has released The Walking Dead Edition of Monopoly, and it's all kinds of awesome. I haven't played Monopoly in years, but I like the idea of playing in the world of The Walking Dead!

The last thing you want to do, when the zombies hit the fan (so to speak), is to worry about real estate deals. What you DO want to be doing is making sure the property you own is well protected and ready to withstand the advancing zombie menace. Let this be your mindset when you play The Walking Dead Monopoly.

Despite its post-apocalyptic setting, The Walking Dead Monopoly delivers classic Monopoly wheeling and dealing game play. Players vie for, and then must fortify, the prime real estate and resources that will sustain their lives. There's only one victor that will outlast the others. This completely customized game features six collectible tokens, optional speed play, and a fight to the finish! The Walking Dead Monopoly - everything you know and loved about Monopoly, but with 100% more zombie flavor. Eww.

The game will only cost you about $40!

Terrence Howard Now Blames RDJ for His Dismissal from IRON MAN 2!

Terrence Howard is a great actor, and he has seen much success in his career. However, he just can’t seem to get over the fact that he was not able to continue his role as James “Rhodey” Rhodes in the Marvel movie Universe. Granted, I don’t know what the details are that surrounded his ousting, but if anything he says is true, then he was royally screwed. During an interview in 2008 he said this:

“Apparently, the contracts that we write and sign aren’t worth the paper that they are printed on. And promises aren’t kept. Good faith and negotiations aren’t always held up.”

He went on to vent about it every chance he got. Well, apparently there is some steam left in that kettle. On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, Howard turned his blame flames onto Robert Downey Jr., saying:

"It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out.

"We did a three-picture deal. That means you did the deal ahead of time — a certain amount for the first one, a certain amount for the second, a certain amount for the third. They came to me with the second and said 'look, we will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.' And I called my friend, that I helped get the first job, and he didn't call me back for three months."

Sounds like the wound it still fresh for Mr. Howard. Like I said before, I don’t know what the whole story is, but from what Howard has to say, everyone screwed him over.

AMC to Develop PREACHER TV Series

amc-to-develop-preacher-tv-series.jpg

A feature film adaptation of the comic book Preacher has been in film development for awhile. Kevin SmithDJ Caruso, and Sam Mendes were all attached to direct the film at some point. Producers have been trying to get this to the big screen since 1998. After all this time it looks like we might see it as a TV series before a movie.

According to Badass Digest, AMC has ordered a pilot based on the classic Vertigo comic. This is the network that has given us The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men. So chances are if they actually end up doing this, it's going to turn out to be a solid series.

Preacher was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, and it tells the story of Texas reverend Jesse Custer who, after merging with the escaped offspring of a demon and an angel, finds himself imbued with the word of God, the power to command anyone to do his bidding. Teamed with his ex girlfriend, Tulip O'Hare, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, Custer sets out across America to track down the almighty and force him to explain why he abandoned creation.

I think this really could be a great series. It might make for a better TV series than a movie.

New Release Date for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Trailer

new-release-date-for-amazing-spider-man-2-trailer.jpg

It looks like we have a new release date for the trailer for director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Webb previously stated that the trailer would debut with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on December 13th. Now, according to Sony Pictures, the official trailer will be released a little earlier on December 5th.

The news came at a re-screening for Men in Black 3 at a local theater that I'm sure hardly anyone showed up to. During the screening, an image was shown on the screen that said the official trailer will debut on December 5th. You can see a screenshot below.

Perhaps that's when the trailer is going to be released online, and then we will be able to see it in theaters on the 13th.

Concept Art of Al Pacino as Lestat in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE

Did you know that at one time Al Pacino was rumored to be up for the role of Lestat in the 1994 feature film adaptation of Interview with a Vampire? Even though Tom Cruise ended up in the role, the studio apparently wanted to see what Al Pacino would look like as the character. They hired concept artist Miles Teves from Stan Winston Studios to give them idea of that vision. Teves said,

"For a short time, at the beginning of the production, Al Pacino was rumored to have wanted the role of LeStat [sic]. I provided this image to help the studio make a decision. His presence as an actor, though an unusual choice, might have infused the character with more gravitas. Few command the screen like the indomitable Pacino."

It would have been interesting to see Pacino in this role, but I'm kind of glad he didn't end up in the role. I thought Cruise did a great job in it. I've also included a few other bits of concept art for the film featuring Cruise as the Lestat.

Check out these fun Star Wars and Marvel mashup illustrations created by Robert-Shane. We've got Iron Trooper, Darth Doom, and Mace Fury.  I like what the artist has done with these, and I'm sure he will create more.

With Marvel and Star Wars both at Disney, I wonder if we will ever see the two universes crossover. It's not impossible.

the-walking-dead-season-4-ep-7-dead-weight-trailer-and-clip.jpg

Last night's episode of The Walking Dead showed us what the Governor has been up to since he gunned down many of his people. It wasn't the craziest episode, it was kind of slow, but it's just setting us up for what is to come.

AMC has released a new promo and clip for the next episode of The Walking Dead titled "Dead Weight," which is described as follows:

Something new unfolds at a camp outside the prison, and the addition of new members may threaten peace.

It will be interesting to see where they go with the Governor this season.

LOST's Terry O'Quinn up for Lex Luthor in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN?

Director Zack Snyder recently confirmed at a Man of Steel fan event that Lex Luthor will play a role in the Batman Vs. Superman film. There are even spoiler filled rumors about how the character will be portrayed in the film that you can read about here

There's now a rumor from Supermansupersite claiming that Lost star Terry O'Quinn could be up for the role of Lex Luthor. If this is true, it would be pretty awesome. According to a source close to the production, O'Quinn is on a short list of actors being considered for the part. I can actually see him in the role, and if he got it I wouldn't complain.

O'Quinn is a character actor who has been in a ton of films and TV series over the years, and most recently starred in ABC supernatural series 666 Park Avenue.

Bryan Cranston was rumored to be up for the role at one point, but Cranston denied it. You never know though, he still might be on this short list of actors, because Cranston would be awesome in the role too.

This is all just a rumor for now, but it will be cool to see who ends up playing Lex Luthor. The movie comes out on July 17th, 2015 and so far it stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha 'Ma' Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

NEED FOR SPEED - High Octane Full Trailer

DreamWorks has released a new full trailer for Aaron Paul's car racing action film, Need For Speed. The movie is based on the popular video game, and it's sure to be an exciting film. As you'll see in the trailer, this is a beautifully shot movie that is going to have some amazing race sequences and car stunts. Even though the story and script seem like they're going to be cheesy, the movie should still be a lot of fun to watch.

Framed for a crime he didn't commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Aaron Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction.

I've been a fan of the Need for Speed franchise since the first game was released. It's my favorite racing game, and I'm really hoping that this movie ends up being just as cool. The movie is set to be released on March 14th, 2014!

FAST AND FURIOUS 7 Photo from Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson released another cool photo from the set of James Wan's Fast and Furious 7.  It looks like his character, Hobbs, is standing in the aftermath of an explosion with all of the debris around him. With Wan at the helm, I can't help but think that this sequel is going to be one of the best in the franchise! The photo came with the following caption:

"I didn't bring the cavalry.. I AM the cavalry" ~ #HobbsTheBeast On set. 4am. High on dirty thoughts & adrenaline as I wait for my director and partner in crime, James Wan (standing deep in the background) to yell "ACTION". #FastAndFurious7 #SilverbackOfTheLaw #ThisIsHowIWalkIntoMyBedroom

The movie will be released July 11th, 2014!

There's a hilarious extra from the upcoming Breaking Bad: The Complete Series DVD set that has leaked online. It gives us an awesome alternate ending that crosses the series over with Bryan Cranston's previous sitcom, Malcolm in the Middle. It's brilliant. I've also included a gag reel from Breaking Bad Season 5. Enjoy!

Javier Bardem Offered Role of Blackbeard in PAN

It looks like Skyfall villain Javier Bardem could play another villain role in Warner Bros' Peter Pan origin film, Pan. According to Deadline he's been offered the role of Blackbeard the Pirate.

Atonement director Joe Wright is in negotiations to direct the film from a script written by Jason Fuchs. If he does take on the film, he's likely to do something great with it.

The story follows an orphan who "is taken to the magical world of Neverland, where he becomes the savior of the natives and leads a rebellion against evil pirates."

Bardem is a fantastic actor who always makes for an awesome, intense villain. I hope he ends up plauing Blackbeard because he'd be perfect for it!

FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Launch Trailer and Release Date Revealed

FFXHD.jpg

Square Enix loves their HD remakes, and their latest HD offering has finally received a release date! Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will be hitting shelves on March 18, 2014 for North America and March 21, 2014 for Europe and other PAL countries. I like release date announcements like this. We've been anticipating this game for quite a while, and now that we have a date it is right around the corner! And if you pre-order the game now, you'll get a free upgrade to the shiny Limited Edition, which gets you an art book or something.

Accompanying the release announcement is a new launch trailer that is very good looking, especially compared to the original. While FF X isn't my favorite Final Fantasy game, I absolutely love its story, and this new remake in beautiful HD will provide the wonderful new way to experience it. I got chills just watching the launch trailer and remembering the first time I played FFX. And maybe FF X-2 might be worth playing now. It is generally regarded as low quality fan service, but it definitely has some fans. We'll be able to play it again in HD and see if it is any good, again, early next year.

Universal has released an exciting new clip from the fantasy martial Arts film 47 Ronin. The clip features Keanu Reeves' "half-breed" character fighting a bigass mutant looking creature.

After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors. As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.

The film is set to be released on December 25th, and I'll definitely be watching it! It looks like a really fun flick.
