extended-trailer-for-frank-darabonts-mob-city.jpg

We've got an extended trailer for Frank Darabont's upcoming TNT miniseries event, Mob City

The six-part noir series is based on the book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America's Most Seductive City, by John Buntin, and it's set in 1947 in post-war Los Angeles, "home to glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads, and returning war heroes. But it’s also a city caught between a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make L.A. its West Coast base."

It stars Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger), Alexa Davalos (Clash of the Titans, The Mist), Jeffrey DeMunn (The Walking Dead, The Shawshank Redemption), Gregory Itzin (24), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Jeremy Luke (Don Jon), and Ed Burns (Entourage).

The show is scheduled to premiere on December 4th, and it's going to be awesome!

Jon Bernthal plays Joe Teague, an ex-Marine now working as an LAPD cop in an era rampant with police corruption. Jeffrey DeMunn plays Detective Hal Morrison, who heads the LAPD’s new mob squad, with Jeremy Strong as Detective Mike Hendry, Morrison’s second in command. Neal McDonough is Capt. William Parker, Teague’s boss who is determined to weed out corruption and bring down Cohen. And Milo Ventimiglia plays Ned Stax, who fought alongside Teague during World War II but who now works as a lawyer with connections to the mob. The project also co-stars Ron Rifkin playing Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Bowron, who makes it his mission to clean up corruption in city government; Pihla Viitala as Anya, the head bartender at Bunny’s on Central Avenue, the West Coast center of the black jazz scene; and Alexa Davalos as Jasmine, a beautiful woman whose past has come back to haunt her.

Adorable Romantic Comedy Short - CRUSH

adorable-romantic-comedy-short-crush.jpg

I've got an adorable romantic comedy short for you to watch today called Crush. The movie was made by Rachel Antonoff, and the short is the story of how her parents met. The film is narrated by her own parents. Rachel’s brother Jack plays her dad and Community star Gillian Jacobs plays her mom.

The short was made to show off Antonoff's new spring 2014 clothing line collection, her inspiration for which came from her teenage years. The short may have been to show off her clothes, but it's still a cute story that I I really enjoyed. I hope you do too.

Hulk and Iron Man Heroes United_07.jpg

Here's a new set of photos from Marvel's upcoming animated film, Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United. As you'll see, some of them feature Hulk wearing his own armor. Last week the studio released the first action-packed clip from the film, which you can watch here. I haven't been impressed with anything that I've seen from this so far, and according to a lot of the comments I've seen, it doesn't look like the fans are too happy with the movie either.

In this all-new, action-packed story, Iron Man and Hulk face off against Zzzax as well as a pack of Wendigos and the deadly Abomination. Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) voices Iron Man and Fred Tatasciore (Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.) will provide the voice for Banner and the Hulk. Dee Bradley Baker (Klaus the fish from American Dad!) will do the voice of Zzzax.

Marvel's Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 3rd.

Harry-Potter-Stamp-4.jpg

For those of you that still actually use the postal service to send letters, or just collect stamps, here's a set of six Harry Potter collector stamps that you might be interested in. They are currently available for pre-order. The USPS is only making 5 million books of the 20 stamp set, and they will officially be released November 19th. I've included more details below.

Harry-Potter-Stamp-1.jpg Harry-Potter-Stamp-2.jpg Harry-Potter-Stamp-3.jpg Harry-Potter-Stamp-5.jpg Harry-Potter-Stamp-6.jpg

Click here to pre-order a set. Here’s the official description:

The Harry Potter films brought J.K. Rowling’s magical world to the screen, giving physical shape to the characters, creatures, and places that had lived in readers’ imaginations since publication of the first book. The U.S. Postal Service celebrates that magic with a 20-stamp souvenir booklet featuring stills from the award-winning Warner Bros. movies.

The folded booklet has five pages. The front cover features the title Harry Potter, with an image of Harry playing Quidditch, the beloved wizarding sport. The back cover has a picture of a young Harry in class, taking notes with his quill; the titleHarry Potter is centered under the picture. When the booklet is opened, an illustration of Hogwarts covers two pages on the back, and selvage text appears on the last page. Inside there are five groupings of four stamps, each grouping set on its own page. Each set of four stamps, featuring stills from the Warner Bros. movies, surrounds the red wax seal of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Harry Potter’s story begins when he receives a letter and a visitor that change his life. He learns that he is the orphaned son of two wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. Invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry embarks on an adventure he never could have imagined.

The stamps capture the magic of Harry’s world, with photographs of a few of the brave heroes, fearsome villains, and extraordinary creatures that he encounters throughout his adventures.

Best friends since first meeting on the Hogwarts Express, Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger face new challenges each year they attend Hogwarts. The first set of stamps shows the friends in action.

The second stamp set includes photos of four of the amazing creatures that will one day come to Harry’s aid-Hedwig, Harry’s pet owl; Fawkes the phoenix; Dobby the house-elf; and Buckbeak the Hippogriff.

At Hogwarts, the friends receive support and guidance from many of their professors, among them the four depicted on the third set of stamps-Rubeus Hagrid, Professor Minerva McGonagall, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, and Professor Severus Snape.

Their fellow students-including Fred and George Weasley, Luna Lovegood, and Ginny Weasley, featured on the fourth group of stamps-fight bravely alongside Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the Battle of Hogwarts.

Harry and friends encounter frightening villains, none more terrifying than Lord Voldemort, considered to be the most evil wizard of all time. He is featured alongside two of his fanatic followers-the sinister Bellatrix Lestrange and devious Draco Malfoy-on the fifth set of stamps, which also includes a photo of Harry during his final, epic battle with Voldemort.

The art directors for the Harry Potter Stamp Collection were William J. Gicker and Greg Breeding. Breeding designed the souvenir booklet using images from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter movies.

The Harry Potter stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps. Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce rate.

Brief New Info on BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

brief-new-info-on-batman-vs-superman.jpg

We've got a little bit of new information to share with you regarding Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman. It's not a lot of information, but it does offer some insight into what we might see in the movie. The info comes from Warner Bros. producer Daniel Alter.

There are some potential SPOILERS here, so if you don't want to know then don't read the following tweet...

Can't wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore.. Controlling drones from the batcave.

We already knew that Affleck would be playing an older, more reclusive Batman, and I just assumed if Dick Grayson was going to be in the movie they would be estranged. The drones thing is a pretty cool little tidbit though! I could see Batman using drones to help him fight crime. It's actually a pretty great idea. I hope if turns out to be true.

Jamie Foxx's Sci-Fi Romance Short - AND SHE WAS MY EVE

Jamie Foxx directed this really weird sci-fi short film called "And She Was My Eve." The film is part of Ron Howard and Canon's Project Imagination. The 15-minute short tells the story of a man "scarred early in life by unrequited love works to attain the perfect mate. In the end, he may get more then he bargains for." The short stars Tyrin Turner and Samantha Nagel, and it's not really like anything I've seen before. I'm not saying that's a good thing, I'm just saying it's very odd and different.

Spider-Man Drops In On This Classic X-MEN Blooper

In DVD extras you've probably never seen if you're clicking this article, check out Spider-Man in X-Men! The back story behind this scene is kind of vague, but apparently this happened while filming in the Statue of Liberty. While most of the producers would want you to believe this is some random person who snuck on set in a Spidey costume, I'd have to say this was staged to some extent. I do think it's cool that the guy is rocking the old school Spidey suit! Watch it before either Fox or Sony pulls it down!

THE WALKING DEAD Spin-Off Series To Be a Prequel?

0
0
the-walking-dead-spin-off-series-to-be-prequel.jpg

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and AMC are currently in the process of developing a new spin-off series. There hasn't been much information on what the series would entail, but thanks to TV Line we've learned that it will be a "prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it."

This is interesting, because one of the things about the world Kirkman has created is that he's never explained how the zombie apocalypse started. That's one of the things I really like about the series, and I kind of don't want to lose that mystery. But who knows, the series is still early in development.

In a recent interview with IGN, Kirkman said that the new series will be set in a “different location” and feature “completely different people.” He also said that “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia… It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”

Hopefully they end up giving us another series that fans are going to love. What do you think about the possibility of the series being a prequel?

Batkid Saves the Day in San Francisco!

BZIhouxCMAA_qgh.jpg

Last week we learned that the Make-a-Wish Foundation in San Francisco would transform the city into Gotham City so that a 5-year-old boy with leukemia could dress up as Batman and go around saving the city from evildoers. The boy's name is Miles, and today was the day he dressed up as Batkid and took to the streets of "Gotham" and kicked some ass.

Here are several photos from the heart warming adventure that were tweeted by @SFWish. Miles must have had the time of his life today, and it's so cool to see all these people come together to help make his dream of being Batman come true. This just goes to show that there are still a lot of good people in the world.

David O. Russell Wrote a Horror Film that Eli Roth Might Direct

Via: THR

I think David O. Russell is one of the most talented writer/directors working in Hollywood right now. His most recent movies, The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook, were both great movies.

Russell recently participated in The Hollywood Reporter directors roundtable for his upcoming film, American Hustle. During the event he discussed some of the unproduced screenplays that he's written over the years. A couple of them included a time-travel and horror film that Hostel director Eli Roth might direct.

Here's the quote can from the roundtable,

"I wrote a couple of things that someone might make, Eli Roth may actually do one, I wrote a horror a few years ago."

I would have never thought that Russell and Roth would team up on something. I honestly don't think Roth is very talented at all. But I would love to see what Russell's take on the horror genre would be! Russell went on to explain,

"Well it'll be coupled with Eli Roth, that's exciting to me. Cause I had to write to support myself. So I wrote a horror for producer Colleen Camp a horror film that I thought was interesting. And Eli thinks it's interesting, I think he's going to make it more interesting. It's emotional, it's also... we'll see. It's also...I don't wanna say anything more, I'll let Eli talk about it."

It will be interesting to see if this project pans out. I hope it does, just so I can see what Russell could bring to the horror genre.

Robert Patrick and More Join FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES

0

robert-patrick-and-more-join-from-dusk-till-dawn-the-series.jpg

Earlier this summer it was announced that Robert Rodriguez would be developing a new TV series based on his vampire film From Dusk Till Dawn. The series will "explore and expand on the characters and story from the original film, providing a wider scope and richer Aztec mythology." It's gearing up for production, and now we know who is going to star in the series.

The supernatural crime saga will feature Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The X-Files) as Jacob Fuller, Madison Davenport (Save Me, Shameless) as Kate Fuller, Brandon Soo Hoo (Tropic Thunder, Ender’s Game) as Scott Fuller, and Eiza González as Santánico Pandemonium.

This could end up being a cool series. Below, you'll find some additional information on the characters the actors play and the story from the press release,

Eiza González recreates the role of Santánico Pandemonium, credited for launching Salma Hayek’s film career. Robert Patrick portrays Jacob Fuller, father to Kate Fuller (Davenport) and Scott Fuller (Soo Hoo), who are held hostage by main characters, Seth and Richie Gecko and find themselves along for the ride of their life. They join previously announced D.J. Cotrona who plays Seth Gecko, Zane Holtz as Richie Gecko, Jesse Garcia who plays Texas Ranger Freddie Gonzalez, a new character created for the series, and Don Johnson who joins in a recurring role as Sheriff Earl McGraw.

Based on the thrill-ride film, "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" is a supernatural crime saga centered around bank robber, Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard "Richie" Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Garcia) after a bank heist left several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former minister Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage. Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone of the film, adds new characters and backstories and expands the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.

The 10-episode drama will serve as the first original scripted series to air on the new genre-busting cable network, El Rey Network, which will debut nationally in December 2013.

Tauriel breaks Legolas' heart in this humorous Hobbit inspired stop-motion LEGO animated video. The short was directed and animated by Kevin Ulrich, and this is the description that came along with it:

Legolas risks his life to save Tauriel from elf-eating spiders! You'd think that would win him some points, right? No. Once you are friendzoned, nothing can save you. At least he has friends.....and a new Hobbit menu from Dennys.

First Clip From 47 RONIN

The first clip from Keanu Reeves' cool looking fantasy martial arts film 47 Ronin is out. I'm not really sure what's happening in this scene, but it involves some strange supernatural elements.

The movie was directed by short film and commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch, and it also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Tadanobu Asano, and Rinko Kikuchi. The movie finally comes out in theaters on December 25th, and I'm excited to see it!

The troupe of banished samurai long to restore their honor and find vengeance against the treacherous Lord Kira (played by Asano, who is in theaters now as Hogun in Thor) who was responsible for the death of their master. Kai is the uneasy compatriot in their company and his standing will be questioned even more as he falls in love with Mika (Shibasaki), daughter of the fallen master. The film presents a quest where the ronin (the term for samurai with no master) face trials that test their mettle and their loyalty to one another.

Trailer for Batman Vs. Joker Fan Film - THE CITY WITH TWO FACES

20131113010049-joker_pic.png

This is the trailer for a fan-made Batman vs. Joker film called "The City With Two Faces." The movie is coming from a group of indie filmmakers looking to make their mark on Internet fan films. This is the same team that brought us the previous Batman fan-film, Joker Rising. They've started raising funds for two Batman and Joker feature length  films on Indiegogo. Here's the description of the film project,

The City With Two faces is a continuation of the feature length Fan Film Joker Rising (as seen on youtube) That was a film about the Joker's Origin. But now that the Joker has been born he is free to terrorize Gotham in new and more demented ways than ever.

The City with Two Faces will be two films. Part 1 and Part 2. This will be the first feature length fan film trilogy ever made. We desire to continue in the same vein as the first. It will be dark but will be story and character driven.

If we can raise the funds for this I believe that we will be ushering in a new era of fan films that feature amazing performances, character development, and mind blowing stories.

Here'e the synopsis:

The City With Two faces is the darkest Batman vs Joker story that will ever be put to screen. The city is torn between the sadistic Joker and the Batman and Harvey Dent is caught in between.

I've also included the Indiegogo sales pitch video. I thought Joker Rising was really good, and I think this team of filmmakers has it in them to do something even better with this next project.

Movie Style Trailer for J.J. Abrams' ALMOST HUMAN Series

movie-style-trailer-for-jj-abrams-almost-human-series.jpg

Here's a new trailer for J.J. Abrams and Karl Urban's new sci-fi TV series Almost Human. This trailer is unique in that it is cut more like a movie trailer than a TV trailer. The series looks great, and I'll definitely be tuning in to watch.

Almost Human is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Michael Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

The series premieres with a two-part opener this Sunday, November 17th and Monday, November 18th.
