Here are four character posters for Warner Bros.' The LEGO Movie. They feature Charlie Day's Benny, Will Arnett's Batman, Will Ferrell's Lord of Business, and Morgan Freeman as Vitruvius. I imagine we'll see more character posters from the movie in the near future. In case you missed the latest trailer for the film, click here. This is looking like it's going to be a great flick! 

The movie was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who also made 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It also stars Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Nick Offerman, and Alison Brie.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

The movie will be released on February 7th, 2014!

As if 2015 wasn't going to be an awesome enough year for movies, FOX has announced new release dates for Fantastic Four, Assassin's Creed, and The Secret Service. 

Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons comic series The Secret Service has been moved from November 14th, 2014 to March 6th, 2015. 

Josh Trank's Fantastic Four will open up on June 19th, 2015. It will open up alongside Pixar's Inside Out.

Michael Fassbender's adaptation of the video game Assassin's Creed has been pushed from June 19th, 2015 to August 7th, 2015.

The studio also set dates for two other films. An untitled Vince Vaughn movie (a.k.a. Business Trip) will hit theaters on October 24th, 2014 and Paul Feig's Susan Cooper with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham will hit theaters on May 22nd, 2015.

Summit Entertainment has released a new poster for their big screen adaptation of the young adult book series Divergent. The poster features Shailene Woodley and Theo James being "different" and "dangerous."

The movie was directed by Neil Burger, and it also stars Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, and Zoë Kravitz. The film comes out on March 21st, 2014.

Based on Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times best-selling novel, DIVERGENT is a gripping action thriller set in a futuristic world where society has been divided into five factions. As each person approaches adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for the rest of their life. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) chooses Dauntless—the daring risk-takers who pursue bravery above all else. During the Dauntless initiation,Tris completes death-defying stunts and faces her inmost fears in spectacular simulations. When she discovers she is a Divergent, someone who will never be able to fit into just one faction, she is warned that she must conceal this secret or risk her life. The new 52, some love it, others absolutely despise it. However, something was recently pointed out to me concerning the Lantern books. Throughout the emotional spectrum, the Lanterns' main job is to protect the universe, with the Green Lanterns being at the center of it all. But almost since the launch of the new 52 two years ago, the Lanterns haven't been fighting for the universe, but for themselves -- war between Lanterns, the first one, the new one, the guardians. What was once a cool and unique take on the Lantern mythos soon became old and incredibly overplayed. I was optimistic at first, thinking this may be a plot point with the Justice League or just heroes in general realizing that the Lanterns aren't protecting anyone but themselves, but it hasn't.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some aspects of the new 52 Lantern books that I absolutely love. For instance, Larfleeze getting his own well deserved book, Kyle Rayner (my favorite Lantern) becoming a White Lantern and taking center stage after being overshadowed by Hal Jordan for a number of years, Guy Gardener becoming a Red Lantern (that made so much sense I don't know why I didn't think of that). But I think the cons outweigh the pros here. What good are great character developments if the stories don't do your heroes justice? This interdepartmental bickering has run its course, and yet that seems to be the only future in these space-faring books. With the recent conclusion of Lights Out, Lanterns throughout the universe are openly rebelling against the corps due to the finite amount of energy, which brings up more cause for Lantern versus Lantern storylines. I want our universe to be protected, not become a warzone bewtween the Lantern Corps.

While we wait for the first official trailer for Darren Aronofsky's biblical film Noah, here's a short video preview that gives us a little tease of what we can expect from the film. The clip is short, but it gives us a look at Russell Crowe as Noah, as well as Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, and a few more actors in the film. It also has some shots of the ark.

The movie tells the epic biblical story of a prophet who is "subject to divine visions foretelling the end of the world. Noah attempts to tell his people to cease their mistreatment of the earth in order to be saved. No one listens to his warnings, and Noah and his family are cast out to fend for themselves in the wilderness. Noah approaches a race of giant six-armed angels known as the Watchers to rally them to his cause."

I'm looking forward to seeing Aronofsky's unique vision of this story up on the big screen. Just from this bit of footage it looks like it's going to be amazing.

Thanks to YouTube user Peelajaboard and his 30-minute gameplay video (taken at this year's Digiexpo), we have a pretty extensive look at the day to day events in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I came away with a sound belief that Bioware is bringing grey back to the series, something that was missing in Dragon Age: 2. Sometimes there are no good choices, just the best of bad ones, and it's something that made the first Dragon Age so memorable. This is illustrated in the demonstration when the developers opt to secure the keep while letting the town fall, something that doesn't sit well with Varric.

Also of note in the video is just how gorgeous this game looks, even in its pre-alpha state. From the green and yellow glows of the various tears in the world to just how the grass moves and sways in the wind, this game, and games like it, are why next generation consoles exist. While I didn’t bemoan the lack of a tactical view in my DA games previously (mostly because I never played the original on PC where that view was available) I do welcome the advantages of having it and foresee spending a great deal of time there. As long as they can keep the framerate running at a consistent clip, all of these changes are for the better, so do yourself a favor and peep the video before it gets removed.

Bat in the Sun and Machinima have released another episode of Super Power Beat Down! This time they pit the White Ranger from Power Rangers against Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. This actually has a really cool choreographed fight sequence, and I was a little surprised by who ended up winning. The actual fight starts at the 4:10 if you want to skip through all of the build up. This latest trailer actually made the movie look better than I thought it would be. It surprisingly sparked some interest in me to see it. The movie is based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth. Here's the plot summary,

DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.

Divergent will be released March 21st, 2014.

Super Mario 3D World is shaping up to be the must-own game for Wii U this season, and this video shows you why. The biggest announcement to come out of this video was the new character unlock for Rosalina (from Super Mario Galaxy), but that doesn't even scratch the surface of what this video shows! As a Wii U owner, this title looks to be a fantastic follow up to Super Mario 3D Land on 3DS and a must-buy this holiday season! Haven't seen much since E3? This video may blow your mind. The game will be released on Black Friday.

Sony Pictures has released the first TV spot for David O. Russell's great-looking movie, American Hustle. The 1970s set film stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Jennifer Lawrence. This looks like it's going to be one of those films that will do very well when awards season rolls around. It will be released on December 13th. 

Brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld, who along with his equally cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser, is forced to work for wild, unhinged FBI agent Richie DiMaso. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Carmen Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator is caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.

Here's the trailer for Episode 8 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which is titled "The Well." This is the episode that serves as a crossover with Thor: The Dark World, which is currently in theaters. I thought it would be pretty awesome to see a crossover like this, but it doesn't look like it turned out as awesome as I was hoping. I was just expecting something a little more epic, here's the plot:

In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel's Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces--one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.

In a recent interview with IGN, Jennifer Lawrence discussed where we will see Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past. At the end of X-Men: First Class she joined Magneto, but that's not where we'll find her in the upcoming sequel. Here's what Lawrence had to say when she was asked about it,

"We find Raven, she's split off from Eric and Charles and she's kind of her own agent. She has one mission of trying to assassinate somebody and it will be her first kill basically, and because we've seen her in the future and what she becomes and this is kind of a turning point for her."

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014, and it stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, and Evan Peters.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

The words "cute" and "plushies" go hand-in-hand, and this latest find is no exception. This absolutely precious Link plushie from Legend Of Zelda was handcrafted by Reddit user leeeeebs for an online contest. I think it is very well done and would love to add one of these to my gaming memorabilia shelf. Very impressive leeeeebs, keep them coming!

This first thing I noticed when I went to see Thor: The Dark World was Marvel's new opening credits logo. That has now been released online for you to check out if you want. I think the new credits logo is great, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explains how it came about with Marvel.com saying,

"We designed the very first Marvel logo for the first Spider-Man film. We’ve used that logo for eleven years, and with ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ it felt like a good time to update it because this is the very first film that only has the Marvel logo in front of it. You look back at the other films, and they’ve also featured our studio partners’ or distribution partners’ logos. But now that we are our own entity within the Walt Disney Company, it is only the Marvel logo in front of the movies. So that felt like the time to update it and have something that is more substantial as a standalone logo in front of our features.

"The key was, we really loved that old flip logo. We didn’t want to re-invent the wheel, but we wanted it to feel bigger, to feel more substantial, which is why it starts with the flip, but suddenly it’s more dimensional as we go through the lettering and it reveals itself with the metallic sheen before settling into the white-on-red, well known Marvel logo, with the added flourish of the arrival and the announcement of the Studios at the bottom of the word Marvel.

"My favorite part of it is, like all great studio logos, you need a fanfare, and we’d never had that before. We sometimes started the score of the movie, sometimes just had sound effects over it, sometimes had a song over it that leads into the beginning of the movie. So this is the first time that we have an actual, wonderful fanfare to accompany our logo. We turned to Brian Tyler to compose it for us, who this year has done two movies for us and two of what I believe to be two of the best scores in any Marvel Studios film, for ‘Iron Man 3’ and ‘Thor: The Dark World.’ So he thankfully was willing to and happy to create a spectacular standalone fanfare for us.”

Director Wes Anderson and actor Jason Schwartzman have teamed up again for a great short film they did for Prada called Castello Cavalcanti. The story takes place in Italy in 1955, and Schwartzman plays a racecar driver named Jed Cavalcanti. During the Motle Miglia rally race he gets in an accident and finds himself in a small town where he encounters a group of extended family. It's a beautifully shot, entertaining short. If you like Anderson's style, you'll definitely enjoy this! 

Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is set to direct an untitled Napoleon biopic for Warner Bros. 

The script for the film was written by Jeremy Doner, who apparently did a ton of research for the film. According to the report, the "concept is that most of what the public knows about the French general is actually not true, including his famous short stature. In this version, he’s viewed almost as a gangster boss."

Before Sanders came on board the studio wanted Martin Scorsese to direct with Leonardo DiCaprio starring. Scorsese had to drop out because he got busy with his next film, Wolf of Wall Street.

Variety goes on to say that the studio is still looking at DiCaprio as well as Tom Hardy to possibly star in the historical drama.

Sanders is a great visual director, so it will be really interesting to see how this movie looks.
