Here's our incredibly brief first look at Karl Urban's Dredd. The clip is given in the form of an animated gif, but it gives us a solid look at how dark, gritty, and violent this Judge Dredd adaptation is actually going to be. I can't wait to see even more footage from the movie! It looks like it's going to be awesome.

Some of you might concider this short glimpse a spoiler so... Spoiler Warning!

The movie is being directed by Pete Travis from a script written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine). It also stars Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey.

Here's the synopsis for the film:

DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.

Dredd hits theaters September 21st, 2012. Scroll down to see the footage, and tell us what you think!

DARK SHADOWS Promo Poster for Tim Burton Expo

$

Here's an interesting promo poster featuring Johnny Depp as Barnabus in Dark Shadows for a Tim Burton Expo that is being held at La Cinematheque Francaise in France. Wait... there's actually a Tim Burton expo!? I guess so.

What do you think of the poster? Depp is looking a little freaky, but what do you expect for a Tim Burton movie?

Here's the office expo description:

The Tim Burton event at La Cinémathèque française is not only a wonderful opportunity to see all of his films (including very limited-distribution short films) but also, thanks to the major exhibition designed by the New York MoMA in 2009 and shown here this spring, an opportunity to discover Burton's talents as a draftsman, painter, video director, photographer and inventor of colorful, amazing sculptures.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

It's a big day for Star Trek consumer product news. Earlier we told you that Hasbro would be creating a line of Star Trek toys, now we bring you the news that Paramount is teaming up with Namco Bandai to develop a video game based on the sequel that J.J. Abrams is currently shooting.

Here are all the details:

Paramount Pictures and leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe S.A.S. today announced the two companies have signed a deal for NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. to co-publish and distribute the highly anticipated Star Trek video game worldwide during the first quarter of 2013 for all major home consoles and PC.

The action-packed combat game is set to launch the first quarter of 2013 prior to the May 17 th theatrical release of the next Star Trek installment from director and producer J.J. Abrams. The game, through a license with CBS Consumer Products, is based on a stand-alone storyline that continues the adventure of iconic characters Kirk and Spock as they work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.

“With our NAMCO BANDAI partners leading the distribution effort, we are confident that we will meet an overwhelming demand to get this exciting console experience into the hands of gamers and Star Trek fans worldwide”, commented LeeAnne Stables, Paramount Pictures Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Partnerships and head of the studio’s video game unit. Stables continued, “The positive response from our initial unveiling at E3 last year was unprecedented, and we are fortunate to have the highest level of production and creative talent on our team that will bring this incredible game out to market next year.”

“ Star Trek continues to be one of the most beloved entertainment properties around the world, and NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe is extremely excited to be teaming up with Paramount Pictures to create the definitive Star Trek interactive experience,” said Olivier Comte, SVP of marketing, Sales and Publishing for NAMCO BANDAI Partners S.A.S.

Paramount unveiled the Star Trek video game in pre-alpha phase at 2011’s Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) and won the praise of critics including the prestigious “Most Valuable Game” awards from Official Xbox Magazine and PlayStation: The Official Magazine, and was included as one of CNN’s Top 5 Games of E3 2011 list. The Star Trek video game also won additional praise with an exclusive trailer that debuted during Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s keynote address at its annual E3 press conference.

The Star Trek video game is being developed by Ontario-based developer Digital Extremes ( Bioshock 2, Unreal Tournament, Dark Sector, The Darkness II) with production being overseen by Paramount Creative Executive Brian Miller. “Working with Paramount Pictures and Digital Extremes reinforces NAMCO BANDAI Games’ commitment of expanding its portfolio to include Triple ‘A’ Western developed games in addition to its popular and well-respected Japanese Franchises,” said Olivier Comte. “Digital Extremes’ attention to detail, and the collaboration with Paramount Pictures and the team at Bad Robot Interactive will create an authenticity that is sure to thrill Star Trek fans and gamers alike.”

The game’s original story is being penned by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk in collaboration with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, writers and producers for the upcoming Star Trek film. Built from the ground up as the ultimate co-op experience, the Star Trek video game lets players control both Kirk and Spock in a sweeping journey of epic proportions across unexplored planets and enemy battleships with the latest 23 rd century weapons and gear. Kirk and Spock’s complementary personalities result in the most fully realized and varied co-op experiences for this console generation.

Saoirse Ronan to Star in Disney's Snow White Film ORDER OF THE SEVEN

It looks like Disney is finally ready forward on their live-action Snow White film Order of the Seven. The studio been trying to get this film into production for years, and now that there's already two Snow White films coming out they are ready to move it into production. This version of the classic fairy tale character is going to be very different than what we've seen in the past and much more awesome.

Hanna star Saoirse Ronan is currently in negotiations to take on the lead role in the movie, which will be an action-adventure epic. This version of the story is set in China and the seven dwarves will be replaced by seven 19th century "international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. They meet with an Englishwoman (Ronan) being chased by an ancient evil proves to be the catalyst for their redemption. While the project is set in China, the warriors will be from locales near (the U.S.) and far (Russia), and each warrior will have a unique fighting style."

Out of all the Snow White movies being made, this one sounds like it will end up being the best. I love the concept, and it sounds like it could be a ton of fun. I think it would be cool if Ronan actually ends up being cast in the film. If you've seen Hannah, then you know how much of a badass she can be.

What are your thoughts on Ronan possibly being cast in Order of the Seven?

Here's a new image from the awesome looking Timur Bekmambetov-directed film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. We've seen a lot of photos for this film recently, and I think it's about time we actually got ourselves a trailer to watch. I believe it should be coming out later this evening so stay tuned!

The image features Benjamin Walker as Lincoln running with his vampire killing axe of death. The story focuses on the 16th president as he embarks on a journey to rid the world of the evil vampires who murdered his mother. The cast also includes Anthony MackieJimmi Simpson, and Mary Elisabeth Winstead.

Here's the Synopsis:

Abraham LincolnVampire Hunter is a re-imagining of the 16th President's life that depicts him as an axe-throwing, highly accomplished killer of vampires -- an obsession of his since those bloodsuckers supposedly took the life of his mother. Lincoln eventually learns that the vampires have fled to the southern states of the U.S. and are concocting a plan to conquer and enslave the entire country -- this in turn leads to the Civil War between the Union and the Confederacy, the latter of which the vampires are aligned with.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 22th, 2012.

DRACULA YEAR ZERO to be Directed by Gary Shore

Universal Pictures is once again looking to get their supernatural horror film Dracula Year Zero into development. The movie was first announced back in 2008 when director Alex Proyas (The Crow) was attached to direct it. Proyas ended up leaving the project due to budget issues and went to focus on his adaptation of Paradise Lost, which was recently cancelled, also because of budget issues. At the time, Sam Worthington was also attached to star in the film as Dracula. Proyas is obviously having a rough time getting a movie off the ground these days.

Today Deadline reports that the studio is in negotiations with commercial director Gary Shore to direct the movie. It looks like this would be shores first feature film, who previously directed a short called The Draft. But! Most of you might be familiar with shores artistically done short called Wolverine Vs. The Hand, which you can watch below.

I'd be interested to see what what Shore would do with a feature film, I think the guy has some talent. If he ends up taking the film we'll get to see what exactly he can do. Check out the video below then read some details on the Dracula film...

Worthington is no longer attached the project, but here's a few little comments Proyas made while working on it. He said the script by Matt Sazama andBurk Sharpless will,

put the whole legend on its head in every conceivable way and comes out with something that is both a kind of an ode to Bram Stoker’s original Dracula, in that it’s kind of a prequel to that, but it also redefines the character to such an extent that I found it quite exciting, so that is very much a kind of reinvention of that character and it’s why I got excited about it.

He goes on to talk about the story a bit saying,

It's Prince Vlad of Transylvania in the 14th century, and to save his kingdom and his family he takes his first step into darkness, It's his evolution into the monster that Dracula became.

He concluded by saying that the movie is going to be a more realistic take on the story.

What do you think about the possibility of Shore taking on this new Dracula film?

Thanks to FirstShowing we have our first look at Space Janitors, an upcoming Star Wars-inspired web series. The story follows "two human custodians working on board a battle station for the evil Empire. As they try to hold on to their jobs in the midst of an intergalactic civil war, the series offers a satirical and irreverent view of androids, clones, Dark Lords, and other science-fiction staples."

Here is a photo of Darby and Mike:

The show features custodins Darby (played by Brendan Halloran) and Mike (played by Pat Thornton), Edith Kingpin (played by Evany Rosen), LN6-K (played by Tess Degenstein) and Clone Trooper Dennis 4862 (played by Scott Yamamura). Check out the posters below:

The supernatural thriller Legion is being turned into a Syfy series. Deadline reports that the 2010 movie, which starred Paul Bettany, is being being developed for the small screen. The film's director/co-writer Scott Stewart is going to direct and exec produce the TV adaptation. Vaun Wilmott (Sons Of Anarchy) is writing the script for the show being produced by Sony Pictures TV.

The film "chronicled the human race’s battle for survival against God’s legion of angels sent by him to bring on the Apocalypse. The people get an unlikely ally in Archangel Michael (Bettany), who disobeys God’s order and decides to help them." The show will be exec produced by Bold Films’ David Lancaster and Michael Litvak. The potential series has a budget of $26 million. The movie grossed $68 million worldwide. I liked the movie to an extent and can actually see this show doing well at SyFy.

Space Themed Nike Shoes Are Cool Enough To Start A Trend

Fox News is reporting that Nike has been "looking to the stars" for inspiration for its new shoe line, and I couldn't be happier. Nike claims the inspiration for the designs came from observing supernovas, which they claim is arguably the most powerful force in the universe.

If this is a new trend to have wildly colored shoes, I'm all for it because these designs are magnificent as well as incredibly geeky, not to mention the soles are glow in the dark! I feel like it's light up shoes all over again... but for adults.

If you're looking to snag a pair these new shoes you're going to have to wait until their debut at the NBA All Star game where you can spot Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant all rocking their respective shoe brands.

I think they have geek swag, but would you get a pair? Check out more pictures below!

SMALLVILLE Comic To Pick Up Right Where the Series Left Off

$

For those of you Smallville fans wanting to know what happened after the season finale and wanting to see how the story would continue, you will get your chance in the form of a digital comic coming from DC. Last year Smallville's story editor Bryan Q. Miller said he wanted to write a series of novels allowing the characters from the series to live on. Instead of a novel we are getting this digital comic series from Miller that will be called Smallville Season 11 and will be released weekly starting on April 13, 2012.

Here's a description of the comic from the official press release:

The new comic book series picks-up where the show left off (with Clark officially now as Superman!) and features other fan-favorite characters including Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Chloe Sullivan-Queen, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and General Lane. The book features an all-star creative team—in addition to Miller, Smallville Season 11 creators include print cover artist Gary Frank (Superman Secret Origin), digital cover artist Cat Staggs and interiors by Pere Perez (Batgirl).

"Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips... enter Season 11!" enthuses Miller. "New allies abound! New enemies afoot! And old friends return where they're least expected! Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers. I couldn't be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark's first year in the cape."

As a fan of Smallville I'm actually looking forward to seeing the adventures of Tom Welling's Superman continue. Are you excited to see the story continue?

Amanda Seyfried in LOVELACE Poster and Stills

$

A poster and stills for the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic have arrived, thanks to The New York Times (via Comingsoon). Amanda Seyfied plays the titular role in Lovelance and is featured in the faux Deep Throat poster.

Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman directed the drama, which also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick, James Franco, Eric Roberts, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The film is based on Eric Danville's biography The Complete Linda Lovelace. The story follows "Linda Boreman's rise to fame as iconic porn star Linda Lovelace of 1972's Deep Throat, and her subsequent transformation into feminist, anti-porn activist Linda Marchiano. The story is told through the perspective of three interviewers at various stages of her life." Check out the poster (above) and two new stills below.

I always enjoy biopics and think Lovelace will be good. Seyfried will be great in the film, but I wonder how much nudity will actually be shown. Not because I am perverted, but because many stars often use body doubles. What are your thoughts on this news?

Jason Chalker designed these sweet Star Wars and Firefly archival prints. If you like them as much as I do, you can buy them at his online shop for $10. Check out the full-size images and descriptions below via FYLF:

The R2 series astromech droid from Industrial Automaton is hands-down one of the toughest, well built astromech droids ever produced. With hundreds of configurations available, the R2 series is a mainstay on spacecraft from pleasure cruisers to star fighters.

The 3PO series protocol droid from Cybot Galactica is one of the best etiquette and protocol droids ever produced. Fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, it is a mainstay in the best households.

Sure, Inara is a companion and all, but Kaylee knows how get your engine started. She's featured in this vintage style print that's suitable for hanging in your home, office or even the engine room of your Firefly class transport. Plus, when February 2517 rolls around, you'll be ready with your calendar. It's beautiful and handy, just like Kaylee!

These prints remind me of pin-up style posters you would see on an auto mechanic's wall. What are your thoughts?

Beyond THE DARK KNIGHT - 15 "What If" Posters for Batman Films by Famous Directors

Earlier this week we showed you three fun pieces of poster art imagining what Batman movies would be like if developed by 15 different talented directors. Hero Complex commissioned graphic artist Sean Hartter to create the series. They show us what Batman might have been like had it been directed by filmmakers such as Ridley Scott, Tim Burton, Matthew Vaughn, Guy Ritchie, Todd Phillips, Wes Anderson, Rob Marshall, Brad Bird, Guillermo del Toro, Ang Lee, Catherine Hardwicke, Martin Scorsese, Hayao Miyazaki, Neill Blomkamp, and Zack Snyder.

It will be interesting to see what Warner Bros. ends up doing with the franchise now that Christopher Nolan is finished with it. I doubt we will see any of these actually made into movies (other than Tim Burton's version because we already saw his vision). Out of these 15 choices, which would you most like to see get made?

Red-Band Trailer for THE FP - The Warriors Meets Dance Dance Revolution

Here's a crazy red-band trailer for an awesomely strange looking film called The FP. I had no idea what to expect before I watched this trailer, but damn, it looks interestingly hilarious, and very entertaining. The story is like The Warriors mixed together with Step Up, but the rival gangs fight each other with a dance video game. The trailer you are about to watch had me cracking up.

Check out this synopsis:

In a dystopian future, a relentless turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park ('The FP') in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game "Beat-Beat Revelation." After hometown hero BTRO is slain on the dance platform by thug leader L Dubba E, his protégé younger brother JTRO (Jason Trost) goes into isolation, vowing never to duel again. One year later, The FP is in ruins, and JTRO must find the courage to return and restore order in a ruthless battle for revenge that can only leave one man dancing. From the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and featuring narration by James Remar (THE WARRIORS), THE FP is a fury of fierce footwork, triumphant montages and neon street wear that Moviefone calls "a rare ready-made cult hit.

The movie is set to be released in select theaters on March 16th, 2012. Watch the trailer below, and tell us what you think!
