Jason Statham Vs. James Franco in Trailer for HOMEFRONT

0
0

Millenium films has released the first trailer for the Sylvester Stallone-scripted Homefront, which will feature Jason Statham and James Franco trying to take each other down. I personally think Statham has the upper hand, but it looks like Franco will give him a run for his money.

The movie was directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Don't Say A Word), and it looks really good. It is based on the book by Chuck Logan, and it also stars Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, and Frank Grillo

It's an action movie following a former DEA agent (Statham) who heads to a small town with his family to get away from the dangers of his former job. There he finds a small town terrorized by a meth head gang leader (Franco), and Statham is put into a situation where he has to protect his family.

The movie is set to be released on October 4th, 2013. Enjoy the trailer!

Loki Escapes in New Poster for THOR: THE DARK WORLD

It looks like Loki breaks out of his glass cage in this new poster from Thor: The Dark World. We know that Thor teams up with the God of Mischief in this sequel, and it's safe to say that we know he's going to turn on Thor in the end. I think we might be left with an unhappy ending this time around, but we'll see. We also have an international poster for the film featuring Anthony Hopkins as the epic God Odin.

The movie is set to hit theaters later this year on November 8th!

Jimmy Fallon's Funny Breaking Bad Parody, JOKING BAD

I'm not the biggest fan of Jimmy Fallon. I've never really found him that funny, but this Breaking Bad parody he did was pretty damn entertaining. It's called Joking Bad, and it also features cameos by Bryan Cranston, Bob Odenkirk, and Aaron Paul. If you haven't seen this yet, I hope you enjoy it!

IGF 2014 Finalists to Receive Steam Publishing Deals

The submission deadline for the Independent Games Festival is barely more than a month away and the prize pot just get even better. Originally the competition was for a pool of $55,000, distributed to the winners of various categories, but now Steam publishing deals are also on the table.

Like last year, the IGF has partnered with Valve to bring the finalists’ games to their wildly popular Steam platform. The winners of the six categories (Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence In Design, Excellence In Art, Excellence In Narrative, Excellence in Audio, and the Nuovo Award) will not only receive a nice cash prize, they will have to option to bring their game to Steam.

Considering the financial success of Braid, Limbo, World of Goo, and other IGF winners that have ended up on Steam, this reward is far more valuable than the $5,000 the finalists will also receive. Finalists for IGF 2014 will be announced in January with the winners declared at Games Developer Conference 2014 in March.

I am excited to see what awesome games this year's IGF will bring to light, and now I will be able to buy them conveniently on Steam. Good luck to all of the competitors--you've only got one month left!

Badass Trailer for MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY II

Machinima has released the first trailer for Mortal Kombat: Legacy II, and it looks awesomely badass! I loved the first part of this web-series, but this second season looks like it's going to be a hell of a lot better. Of course they had more money to work with this time around, so it makes sense that it would be better. Imagine what these guys could do with a real movie budget!

The saga continues as Liu Kang and Ermac join the ranks of fighters introduced in the series’ first season, including Kenshi, Kung Lao, Kuai Lang, Stryker, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Scortcheson and Sub- Zero. This new season uncovers the rivalries and histories of these fierce warriors as Raiden and his recruits clash against the dark forces of Outworld. Chronicling the tournament and the interweaving storylines of the most beloved Kombatants, ngorians also will learn of the complex relationship between Liu Kang and Kung Lao and revisit the complicated family dynamic of Kitana and Mileena. The epic battle for EarthRealm has finally begun!

Directed By Kevin Tancharoen (Mortal Kombat: Legacy), the series stars Harry Hum Jr. (Glee), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Brian Tee (The Wolverine), Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-O), and Cary Tagawa (Mortal Kombat).

The second season is set to be released on Machinima on September 26th, and I can't wait! I'm sure after I watch it I'm going to go and pick fights with people!

Writers Walk After DC Alters BATWOMAN Storylines

Batwoman is a character loved by almost every DC geek on the planet. The newest incarnation of Batwoman is known as Kate Cane. She's tough, she's smart, she's witty, and she can throw a right hook that'll knock your socks off. Kane first appeared in 52 #7, during the spring of 2006. Around that time DC also announced her sexual orientation, and for those of you who don't know, Ms. Kane is a lesbian.

Batwoman's creators, Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III, announced that they would end their run on Batwoman once they finish issue #26, and released this joint statement Wednesday, September 4th on their individual blogs:

"Dear Batwoman readers -
From the moment DC asked us to write Batwoman — a dream project for both of us — we were committed to the unofficial tagline “No Status Quo.” We felt that the series and characters should always be moving forward, to keep changing and evolving. In order to live up to our mantra and ensure that each arc took Batwoman in new directions, we carefully planned plotlines and story beats for at least the first five arcs well before we ever wrote a single issue. We’ve been executing on that plan ever since, making changes whenever we’ve come up with a better idea, but in general remaining consistent to our core vision.
Unfortunately, in recent months, DC has asked us to alter or completely discard many long-standing storylines in ways that we feel compromise the character and the series. We were told to ditch plans for Killer Croc’s origins; forced to drastically alter the original ending of our current arc, which would have defined Batwoman’s heroic future in bold new ways; and, most crushingly, prohibited from ever showing Kate and Maggie actually getting married. All of these editorial decisions came at the last minute, and always after a year or more of planning and plotting on our end.
We’ve always understood that, as much as we love the character, Batwoman ultimately belongs to DC. However, the eleventh-hour nature of these changes left us frustrated and angry — because they prevent us from telling the best stories we can. So, after a lot of soul-searching, we’ve decided to leave the book after Issue 26.
We’re both heartbroken over leaving, but we feel strongly that you all deserve stories that push the character and the series forward. We can’t reliably do our best work if our plans are scrapped at the last minute, so we’re stepping aside. We are committed to bringing our run to a satisfying conclusion and we think that Issue 26 will leave a lasting impression.
We are extremely thankful for the opportunity to work on Batwoman. It’s been one of the most challenging and rewarding projects of our careers. We’ll always be grateful to everyone who helped us realize 26 issues: Mike Siglain, who brought us onto the project originally; Greg Rucka for inspirationally setting the stage; our amazing artists Amy Reeder, Trevor McCarthy, Pere Perez, Rob Hunter, Walden Wong, Sandu Florea, Richard Friend, Francesco Francavilla, Guy Major, Dave Stewart, and Todd Klein; Larry Ganem, for listening in tough times; and editors Mike Marts, Harvey Richards, Rickey Purdin, and Darren Shan.
And most of all, a huge thank you to everyone who read the book. Hearing your voices, your reactions, your enthusiasm every month was such a joy, so humbling, so rewarding. You guys rock! Because so many of you embraced the series, we were able to complete four arcs, and your passion for Batwoman encouraged us to push ourselves to do our best work with each and every issue.
Thank you for loving Batwoman as much as we do.
Goodbye for now,
Haden & J H"

I think that it's incredibly important to note that Mr. Williams confirmed on his twitter account that the characters remaining single had nothing to do with their sexual orientation. DC's co-publisher, Dan Didio, had this to say on the matter at the Baltimore Comic-Con, via The Hollywood Reporter,

"They put on a cape and cowl for a reason. They're committed to defending others — at the sacrifice of all their own personal instincts. That's something we reinforce. If you look at every one of the characters in the Batman family, their personal lives kind of suck…
"Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon, and Kathy Kane — it’s wonderful that they try to establish personal lives, but it’s also just as important that they put it aside as they know what they are accomplishing as the hero takes precedence over everything else. That is our mandate, that is our edict, that is our stand with our characters."

Being the Bat-family fan that I am, I can almost understand Didio's position in not wanting DC's characters to tie the knot. Everybody wants to see their favorite heroes punching people in the face, not holding hands and taking walks on the beach. Yet, I understand the other side of the argument as well. Why not let one Bat-Family member get married? I mean after all, they are defending a city, they are putting their lives on the line for Gotham, why not let them feel some sort of peace inside?

What do you guys think? Should Batwoman be allowed to get married? Or do you agree with Mr. Didio and think that things should stay the way they are?

Official ROBOCOP Poster - "Your Move"

This is the first official poster for Jose Padilha's incredibly cool-looking RoboCop reboot. A lot of people are torn about this movie--there a lot of people like me who think it looks great, and then there are a lot of people who think it looks like crap. I think Padilha is a solidly talented director though, and I believe he'll give us something entertaining.

Hell! It also has a pretty sweet cast that includes Joel Kinnaman,  Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson. It comes out on February 7th! Watch the trailer here!

Details on AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode 2

The first episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. hasn't even been released yet, but that didn't stop Spoiler TV from getting some information on the second episode of the series. It's called "0-8-4" and here's the synopsis they dug up for it,

"Coulson runs into Comandante Camilla Reyes when he and the agents travel to Peru to investigate a mysterious object."

I imagine Comandante Camilla Reyes could be an old friend or girlfriend of Agent Coulson? I wonder how big of a role she will actually play in the series, or if it will be just isolated to this one episode. As far as I know, there isn't a character by this name in the Marvel universe, but Joss Whedon has said that they intend to introduce characters both familiar and entirely new into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The first episode of the series will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, September 24th at 8 p.m.

Stallone and De Niro Prepare to Fight in GRUDGE MATCH Trailer

This is the first trailer for the boxing comedy Grudge Match, and it features Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro preparing to reclaim their boxing glory days in a fight. The story follows a couple of old boxing rivals who come out of retirement for one final match. The movie looks like a lot of fun, and includes some great throwback references to stuff we've seen in the previous boxing movies these two actors have starred in.

The movie is set to be released on December 25th, 2013. Enjoy the trailer!

Ben Affleck's Batman Will Be "Tired and Weary"

We've got a little update on Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman, and it involves the kind of Batman that we'll be seeing Ben Affleck play. Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara was talking about the film in an investors meeting, and he described the character as being “kind of tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for a while.” He goes on to say that Affleck “is perfect for the vision….We think it’s going to be huge.”

By Kc-eazyworld

Of course it's going to be huge! Fans like me have been patiently waiting for a long time to finally see Batman and Superman together up on the big screen, and now it's actually happening! Even all of the fans out there complaining and petitioning to have Affleck taken off the movie and replaced are going to end up drooling all over it when it's finally here.

Snyder already said that the movie was inspired by Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, so it was safe to assume all along that Batman would be tired, weary, and seasoned. This just gives us the confirmation fans were looking for. I can't wait to see what exactly Snyder is planning for this movie, but I think it's going to turn out amazing.

Two Photos from NEED FOR SPEED Movie with Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper

DreamWorks has released a couple of new photos from their big screen adaptation of EA Games' Need for Speed.  The photo above features Aaron Paul with Scott 'Kid Cudi' Mescudi, and the the one below includes the bad guy, Dominic Cooper, and Dakota Johnson. Check them out below!

Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, muscle car mechanic and street racer Tobey (Aaron Paul) gets out of prison determined to settle the score with the man responsible for his false conviction. Tobey tears up the road in a gritty cross-country journey— one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption.

Paul had this to say in a statement:

"This set was different than anything I've been on. You're walking through a very thick cloud of testosterone. It's really a throwback to the Steve McQueen era of car movies. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised.''

I hope he's right! The movie is being directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) from a script written by George Gatins and John Gatins (Flight). It hits theaters March 14th, 2014.

Crazy "What If..." Cover of the Day - THE PUNISHER

0
0

As I scoured the Web a couple nights ago, I came across a collection of Marvel's What If covers. I went through the lot and picked out some of my favorites. I haven't read any of them; I am solely judging the book by its cover.

Today's crazy What If title is...

The question proposed is incredibly strange. It's the equivalent of asking, "What if Peter Parker was never bitten by a radioactive spider?" or, "What If Bruce Banner was never caught in a gamma explosion?" or, "What If Johnny Blaze never made a deal with the devil?"

It's basically canceling out the origin story. But let's answer it, shall we?

They went on a picnic and it was business as usual. No Mob informants were killed that day and they lived happily ever after. Frank Castle's family was never murdered and he didn't become the punisher. If anything, he'd probably go into construction, maintaining New York. Maybe he'll go on another tour of duty, but I doubt it. He loves his family too much. I mean, he has a kid now.

Frank Castle now lives the life of an average human being, a bit mundane, never living up to his experiences on the field of battle.

No vendettas, no call for vengeance, just your everyday veteran trying to get by.

STAR WARS Spin-Off Films Will be Origin Stories

There's still so much that we don't know about the upcoming Star Wars films that Disney and Lucasfilm are developing. We know we're getting a new trilogy and that there will be a bunch of stand alone films that will be release throughout the years. It's been rumored that some of those movie will focus on Han Solo, Yoda and Boba Fett, but of course there's going to be so much more. We now know that the spin-off movie they plan on making will be origin films.

The news comes from Variety when reporting on the Disney investor conference. Chief financial officer Jay Rasulo said that a “origin story film” would be released every year starting with Star Wars: Episode VII.  Right now Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are currently developing some of these stand alone movies, and it will be interesting to see what the first one is going to be. I personally think it's going to be either Han Solo or Boba Fett because they are two of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe. We'll eventually see origin films for several different characters, but I'm most excited for those two.

I think a lot of us assumed that the spin-off movies would be origin stories, but now we have that confirmation. Rasulo went on the say about the Star Wars universe, "The sky’s the limit. There’s incredible flexibility. It’s an unbelievable palette to create from."

What characters are you most interested in seeing an origin story for?

THE WALKING DEAD Season 4 Extended Preview!

There's a good amount of new footage in this new extended preview for the upcoming fourth season of The Walking Dead!  This looks like it's going to be yet another great season, but we've noticed that the excitement for season 4 isn't as big as it was for season 3. We were talking about it and wondering if maybe the end of season 3 turned off a lot of fans. I'm still crazy excited for the series to return, but how are all of you feeling about it? Is the excitement still strong for you, or are you feeling a little let down?

The video not only includes footage from the film and sheds some light on what we can expect, but also has interviews with the cast and crew.

China Introduces HELLO KITTY Beer!

Here's something that will get kids hooked on alcohol at a younger age! China has introduced Hello Kitty beer. They only have half the alcohol content of regular beer, and come in six fruity flavors, including lemon-lime, passionfruit, and banana. They'll slap the Hello Kitty brand on anything!

Banana-flavored beer!? That sounds absolutely awful. As of right now, they're only available in China, though. A review of the beer from Kotaku says,

“It's almost like drinking fruit juice, even if the cans do say 'beer,'. The lemon lime flavor tasted like a light limeade of sorts, almost losing the lemon flavoring. It was smooth and sweet, like a lime soda. It didn't taste like beer.”

Remember kids... don't drink and drive.

In all seriousness, would any of you grown men out there wear a Star Wars-themed Onesie? Not as a joke, but actually throw this thing on to lounge around and sleep in? I know a lot of us would love to reclaim and relive our childhood, but would you go this far?

The onesie styles include R2-D2, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Jedi, and Stormtrooper. They are one size fits most and made out of polyester fleece. I'm sure it's comfortable.

You can buy them on Amazon UK here.

Chipotle Creates Great Animated Short Film - THE SCARECROW

0
0

Hey! I like Chipotle. The mexican food company has created a wonderful CG animated short film called "The Scarecrow," which was made to promote its mission to serve sustainably raised food. Along with the short they've released a free mobile game for Apple devices that "encourages consumers not to eat processed food and follows a scarecrow’s search for healthier options."

According to Variety, this is the first of many new pieces of entertainment-based content that Chipotle will roll out next year further attacking Big Food. They plan "to produce four dark comedies under the 'Farmed and Dangerous' name for online platforms that promote better eating, especially among younger Millennials."

The short also includes a great rendition of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’s “Pure Imagination” by Fiona Apple. Enjoy!

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 Review - It Blew My Mind!

0
0

Insidious: Chapter 2 is hands down on my list of favorite sequels of all time! Director James Wan is a freakin' genius, and he once again came through, and delivered one hell of an amazing horror film! I am a huge fan of the first Insidious movie, and I wasn't sure how he would do the sequel, but it was perfect. Sequels are a hard thing to get right for a lot of filmmakers, but this wasn't really a sequel, this was a second chapter.

The story literally picks up right where the first movie left off without skipping a beat, and the connection between the two films was so awesome! Everything in the first film makes so much more sense now, and there were several moments throughout the film where my mind was blown. I love it when a movie blows my mind. I know Wan had said he wasn't sure he wanted to make a sequel to this movie, but after seeing it, I can't help but think he planned the whole things and had the whole story written out before he made the first film. You'll see what I mean when you watch the movie for yourself.

On top of the incredible story and Wan's badass directing skills, the movie was terrifying! If you are looking for scares this movie provides some nightmarish awesomeness. I don't know why, but because I already saw the first movie, I didn't think the sequel would be as scary because I figured I knew what was coming. In actual reality though, I had no idea.

I knew the movie was going to be good. I know Wan wasn't going to let us fans down, but he once again upped the ante, and gave us something above and beyond what I was expecting. Wan is one of the most talented directors working today, and he moved up on my list of favorite directors. I just can't help but think his movies are going to get better and better as time goes on.

I don't care if you like horror movies or not, if you haven't seen the first Insidious yet watch it now, and then go see the sequel! If you have seen it, then find the time to see Chapter 2 because it really is a mind-blowing horror movie sequel! I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised by it greatness.

Sci-Fi Movie Supercut - Dystopian Futures

0
0

I don't know about you, but I personally can't wait for the post-apocalyptic world to get here.  I've seen so many movies set in this dystopian future that I think I'm ready to survive it, so bring it on! I'd like to film all my adventures on a GoPro, but I imagine there will be no electricity or internet to share it, so that sucks. Anyway, here a nicely cut movie supercut featuring several sci-fi films that take place in a post-apocalyptic world. Thanks to Movies.com and Louis Plamondon, a.k.a. sleepyskunk, who cut the video together.

Great New Trailer for the Horror Comedy GHOST TEAM ONE

0
0

Here's another trailer for the funny-looking new horror comedy Ghost Team One. It's like a mix of Paranormal Activity and Project X with a Scary Movie kind of vibe, only it looks a lot better than any of the Scary Movie films that have been made.

The movie was directed by Scott Rutheford and Ben Peyser, and the story follows two guys making a documentary on the paranormal to impress a girl that believes their house is haunted. Here's the official synopsis:

When roommates Brad and Sergio accidentally arouse the dead, they team up with sexy amateur ghost hunter, Fernanda, to expose the evil inside their home. But just as the guys start to get close to their hot new partner, they discover that a horny demon wants in on the action. Now, cameras are up, and more than fear is rising in this outrageous romp where only one thing is certain: someone is gonna get screwed.

The movie is set to be released on October 11th, and I think it will be worth checking out!
