New International Trailer for Tom Hanks' CAPTAIN PHILLIPS

We've got another intense trailer for you to watch from Tom Hanks and Paul Greengrass' new thriller Captain Phillips. The international trailer provides more footage and gives you a better look at the characters and story. Greengrass was the perfect director to take on this film project.

The movie tells the true story of the Somali pirate hijacking of the MV Maersk Alabama in 2009. It was actually the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.

The movie comes out on October 11th, and you can bet on Hanks getting some award nominations for his performance.

Mitch Hurwitz Writing ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Movie

Arrested Development fans still excited for the long-awaited movie, you're in luck! Creator Mitch Hurwitz is currently writing the script! In an interview with Rolling Stone he says that he wants to make a movie and then do the fifth season. Here's what he said,

"I'm working on the movie right now. I can't get into much more detail because I don't want to scare anybody off. I don't want to be presumptuous about it. I don't own the property outright – it's a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie."

He went on to talk about making the fourth season with Netflix, and says that the biggest challenge of it was working around the schedules of the large cast. "A TV season is a six-month commitment. But I think it would be very doable to get them together for four or five weeks to make a movie." As for that fifth season we've been hearing about, it sounds like the plan is to do it after the movie.

"The whole thing is sort of unprecedented. It's always been its own little thing. I kind of feel like the more it stays original, the better chance it has. As soon as it goes back to trying to do exactly what it was before, you run the risk of doing a reunion show or something."

The movie still has yet to get a greenlight, but it seems like everyone that would be involved with the project is interested. I'd be surprised if it didn't happen.

SCOOBY-DOO Headed Back to the Big Screen

Warner Bros. is looking to reboot Scooby-Doo for the big screen. I never really cared for the first couple of live action Scooby-Doo movies that were made, but my kids love them. It's a big property--the first two films pulled in over $450 million, so of course the studio is looking to capitalize on it some more.

Like the first two movies the film will be a live-action and CGI hybrid, and the studio has hired Matt Lieberman (Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief) to write the script. Who did you expect... Aaron Sorkin? The producers of the original movie, Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, are back for this reboot. There's no word on what the movie will be about, but it will obviously involve the Mystery Inc. trying to solve some kind of supernatural crime.

It will be interesting to see who they cast in the lead roles this time around. Hopefully they can give Scooby-Doo fans a better film than the last two.

What do you think about the WB making a new Scooby-Doo movie?

'42' Star Chadwick Boseman to Headline James Brown Biopic

James Brown fans have reason to rejoice!

Chadwick Boseman, best known for his role in the recent Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, has been chosen to don bedazzled jump-suits and shimmy-slide around stage in the upcoming James Brown flick.

Tate Taylor (The Help) will direct the film and Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon) will produce.

The film will follow the superstar from poverty to prosperity throughout the '60s and '70s as he busts out iconic hit after hit and leaves his raw soul stamp on the music industry. Many modern musicians cite James Brown as a major influence in their careers, so it will be interesting to see how the team handles the soul-king's legacy.

Hopefully they can mix it up so it isn't just another formulaic biopic rehash.

Adorably Cool JUSTICE LEAGUE Fan-Made Animation Test

Check out this really fun, fan-made animated test for an adorably designed set of Justice League characters. The art and animation was done by YouTube user Hoang Huy Ha who says,

After 3 months of the summer animating from time to time gradually, I finally finished this short animation test for the characters from DC Comics' Justice League for personal practice. I set for myself a time limit of approximately 5 seconds to show all the powers of each character, including: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Hawk Girl, and Martian Manhunter.

I think it turned out very cool. Check it out below.

Chris Carter on X-FILES Movie and Wanting to Cast Simon Pegg

As a huge fan of The X-Files, I've been wanting to see another movie. They've talked about it for years, and even though creator Chris Carter, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson have shown interest in doing one, there's still been no movement on it. Why? Because the decision currently rests in the hands of 20th Century Fox, and they haven't budged on anything. Carter is still holding out hope that he will get to do it. In a recent interview with Empire, this is what he had to say about the potential third film,

"I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonisation date has passed and that is something we wouldn't ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology."

Carter then went on to say that if he does end up doing a third film he wants to cast Simon Pegg to be in it, which would be great!

"Gillian [Anderson] worked with Simon Pegg on a movie and told me that he was a big fan. We actually thought about putting him in the second movie, but there was no part for him. I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way."

I'm a big fan too! If he wanted to ask me to be in it, I'd be down! I hope Fox gives Carter the opportunity to make another movie because it could be freakin' awesome! The fact that Pegg could be in it takes it to a whole new level, too.

Yale Stewart and The JL8

Yale Stewart is the mastermind behind the wildly successful JL8 web comic, which details the adventures of a young Justice League in which all of the members are literally 8 years old.

Stewart had the brilliant idea of taking serious, dramatic characters and bringing a lighter, comedic, child-like aspect  to them. Sometimes the team is in a classroom causing mayhem, other times Hal Jordan's father is asking him to do chores, some issues even detail the team just hanging out, cracking jokes and teasing each other,  but every strip brings something new to the table, something fresh, something hilarious, and sometimes... even a little heartbreak. My personal favorite image inspired by the JL8 comic was just recently released. The image shows a young Batman bouncing on his bed with a  robin bouncing along with him. As a Bat-fan, this photo warms my heart more than any other Batman photo out there, so thank you Mr. Stewart, thank you for making my favorite character smile again.

In my mind, Yale Stewart is an absolute genius with this comic. I love it and read every issue weekly. If you'd like to check out the comic, you can visit his Facebook page or his tumblr page. Give the guy a shot, will you? He deserves to be recognized for his his supreme talent, dedication, and ingenuity. You do excellent work, Mr. Stewart, consider me a fan for life.

William Shatner Wants to Play Alfred? HELL NO!

Minus the robot, this was pretty much my reaction to reading this on Twitter.

Seriously though, William, they wouldn't even let you be in the reboots of Star Trek , what makes you think this would happen? Okay maybe that was too mean, but in all honesty what about the Shat man even remotely resembles Alfred? For starters Alfred is slender, something Shatner hasn't been since the '60s. Secondly, no. I just don't see it, and I never would see it. In fact, casting William Shatner as Alfred would be tantamount to a Batman and Robin-level screw up. Am I overreacting? I don't think so.

RIDDICK Fights a Monster in New Film Clip

Watch Vin Diesel take on a menacing looking alien creature in this new film clip from Riddick. The movie is going to be full of glorious action-packed eye candy. It is sure to deliver some solid entertainment, especially for fans of the franchise like myself.

The movie comes out on September 6th, 2013.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

Joss Whedon on Marvel Universe Villains and Killing Characters

Joss Whedon is one of the masterminds behind what Marvel is doing with their cinematic universe. Not only is he developing stuff for the Avengers, but he's also helping in the process of all of the other films as well. In a recent interview with EW, the director talked about the villains, as well as killing off characters in the cinematic universe. When it comes to villains:

Art by Lady Werewolf
<http://lady-werewolf.deviantart.com/art/Tom-Hiddleston-Loki-3-307302495>

Art by Lady Werewolf

"Every movie is going to be a different villain. Loki’s awesome, and he is awesome in 'Thor 2,' but 'The Avengers' is a different thing. I worked with Tom more than any other actor [in the last film], because he was the only villain and there were six heroes. And he was as great as anyone I’ve ever worked with, and I get why people loved the character. But it’s an Avengers movie."

He then goes on to discuss killing off fan-favorite characters, and when he was asked if he thinks if any of the Marvel heroes could be killed off in the near future, he said,

“Um… maybe? But I’d have to have a really good reason, a really great sequence for [Marvel executives] to go, ‘We’ll cut off a potential franchise, that’s fine!’ They know, as any good studio does, that without some stakes, some real danger, how involved can we get? We don’t just rule it out across the board, but neither is the mission statement ‘Who can we kill?’ We try to build the story organically and go, ‘How hard can we make it on these people?’”

So there's a chance that somewhere down the line some of our favorite characters could die. I seriously doubt it will happen, but you never know. If it makes sense for the universe and will help make the story arc better, then so be it!

Trailer for the Insane Cannibal Thriller WE ARE WHAT WE ARE

Want to see a crazy intense movie that will mess you up? That's exactly what the reaction will be for We Are What We Are, which is a cannibal-inspired thriller. This movie is freakin' crazy, and this trailer will give you a sense of how jacked up it is. I will tell you though, there is nothing that can prepare you for how this movie ends.

To read our review for it, click here, and watch our video review for it here. Here's the synopsis:

A seemingly wholesome and benevolent family, the Parkers have always kept to themselves, and for good reason. Behind closed doors, patriarch Frank rules the roost with a rigorous fervor, determined to keep his ancestral customs intact at any cost. As a torrential rainstorm moves into the area, tragedy strikes and his daughters Iris and Rose are forced to assume responsibilities that extend beyond those of a typical family. The most important task the girls face is putting meat on the table— but not the kind that can be found at the local supermarket. As the unrelenting downpour continues to flood their small town, local authorities begin to uncover clues that bring them closer to the secret that the Parkers have held closely for so many years.

The movie was directed by Jim Mickle from a script he wrote with Nick Damici, and it stars Bill Sage, Ambyr Childers, Julia Garner, Wyatt Russell, Nick Damici, Jack Gore, Michael Parks, and Kelly McGillis. The movie is set to hit theaters in a limited release September 27th.

Steven Spielberg is one of my favorite directors of all time. Sure, he's had a few duds, but the majority of his work is amazing. The guy has an amazing talent and style with his craft, and there are signature elements in his films that he uses over and over again. Time put together a great video presentation featuring the top five ways that you know you're watching a Spielberg movie. The five elements include Daddy Issues, Streams of Light, Awestruck Faces, This Shot, and the music of John Williams.

My number one favorite Steven Spielberg is Empire of the Sun. That movie blows me away every time I see it. What is you favorite Spielberg film?

Sigourney Weaver and Aaron Paul Join Ridley Scott's EXODUS

Sigourney Weaver is reteaming with director Ridley Scott for his new Moses biblical film project, Exodus. She will play the character Tuya, who is the mother of Ramses, who is being played by Joel Edgerton. She will also join Christian Bale, who is playing Moses, as well as Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, who will play a supporting role as a Hebrew Slave named Joshua. Then there's John Turturro, who is playing the husband of Weaver's character.

As you know, Scott and Weaver worked together on the 1979 sci-fi classic Alien. I'm really curious to see how this movie turns out, but it's an awesome project for Scott to take on. He's definitely building up an amazing cast of actors!

FX has released a great new teaser for American Horror Story: Coven, featuring three witches being burned at the stake. The cable network has also announced that the series will premiere on October 9th!

This third season of the series is going to be a trip. It will feature two groups of witches--Salem witches versus voodoo witches. The two groups have a century-long feud, and Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett's characters will try to fix things between the two groups. I can only imagine the twisted storylines that are going to play out in this setting!
