As part of YouTube's Geek Week, Nerdist released an animated version of Patton Oswalt's Star Wars filibuster from Parks and Recreation. It's now even more entertaining! This one is also a lot better than that first animated version of the filibuster that was released, which you can check out here.

New Poster for Marvel's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

ABC has released the new poster for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  featuring the show's ensemble cast. It includes Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and his team that consists of Agents Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

The poster may not be anything special, but I'm excited to finally see the series, which is set to premiere on September 24th. In case you missed them, you can check out three clips from the series here

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.
From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers, ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series.  “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Lucasfilm Talking to ABC about STAR WARS TV Series

Before Disney bought Lucasfilm, there was a great-sounding Star Wars: Underworld TV project in development. It was compared to The Godfather and Deadwood, but in space, and dealt with the Star Wars underground. I would have loved to see this series, but at this point I don't think it will happen as it would be an expensive show to produce, and it might be too dark for Disney's taste, but you never know. In a previous interview, former producer Rick McCallum  explained,

"The situation we have is that each episode – or if you put two hour long episodes together – is bigger than any film we’ve ever done.  It’s on the Avatar level and we’ll only have about $5-6 million we can spend on each episode."

It doesn't mean a live action series isn't going to happen though. IGN recently talked ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee, who said that they have finally started talking with Lucasfilm about making a series, and explained...

“I certainly have a glint in my eye. They have a lot on their plate when you look at the features that they’re planning on rolling out for the next few years, but we’ve started conversations with them.”

One day we'll see a live action Star Wars series. It's only a matter of time. I wonder if they are looking to connect it to the movies that are developing, or if it's going to be its own thing in the Star Wars universe. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, so I'm excited for whatever they do!

What would you like to see in a Star Wars TV series?

Peter Capaldi's DOCTOR WHO Announcement Was Right Under Our Noses All Along!

As I was on the internet yesterday, scouring for any and all information on Peter Capaldi  (the new 12th Doctor) I found a somewhat hilarious fact. Capaldi has already played a doctor. Let me rephrase that, he's already played a "doctor W.H.O."! For those who are curious, the IMDB screenshot is from    World War Z  and no, he isn't the only person in the film with that title, as it stands for World Health Organization. Still pretty cool, though!

There was a time in America when space exploration was a priority for the government, and NASA was looking for ways to take it to the next level. One of the things they actually looked into doing was creating massive space stations that were big enough to support suburban neighborhoods with houses, vehicles, and entire farms with livestock and everything you would need to survive. NASA brought in several artists to come up with concepts of what these space stations would look like, and they are pretty mind-blowing! They were so cool that it looks like director Neill Blomkamp may have used these designs as inspiration for his new sci-fi film, Elysium. Of course, these designs have inspired several sci-fi movies over the years.

I can't help but think how amazing it would have been had space stations like this actually been built. At this rate it will never happen because NASA almost doesn't exist anymore. It's looks like the '70s is the closest we ever got.

Wall-E is the cutest robot to hit film since R2-D2 from Star Wars, but Wall-E isn't the easiest bot to bring to life. There are actual kits and blueprints for R2-D2. Mike McMaster and his creative team spent the last five years building Wall-E from scratch, and it turned out awesome!

Here's a video from the studio that built the robot showing it in action, and talking about how they brought Wall-E to life.

The beloved Wall-E robot was just computer generated graphics in the Pixar movie, but fans have spent years trying to bring him to life. We visit Mike McMaster's workshop to see his incredible life-size Wall-E, a remote controlled robot that lives among an R2-D2 droid and other pets on Mike's orange farm.

Tomorrow, Summit Entertainment will release the final full trailer for Ender's Game, but today they've released a short little preview of what will be included in it. The teaser includes a couple of new clips from the highly anticipated sci-fi film, but stay tuned for the full trailer tomorrow! I imagine the new trailer will be the one that was screened at Comic-Con last month.

Ender's Game comes out on November 1st, and I can't wait!

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.
Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Steven Spielberg No Longer Directing AMERICAN SNIPER

$

0

Steven Spielberg has pulled out as the director of Bradley Cooper's American Sniper. I was actually excited to see Spielberg's version of this story on the big screen, but according to Deadline, Spielberg "couldn’t square his vision of this movie with the budget."

DreamWorks Studios is also pulling out of the film production, and Warner Bros. is now on the hunt to secure another filmmaker. Hopefully the studio can find a good replacement. Spielberg has several other projects to choose from, but at this point there's no word on what his next film will be now.

The movie is an adaptation of the autobiography American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, written by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. The movie will simply be called American Sniper, and Cooper will star in the film and produce it.

The project was announced last year when Cooper set it up with Warner Bros. "The book reveals how Texas native Kyle came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American. The book has been praised for its frankness in telling a first-person account of a warrior who shoots from far and close distances. Giving the book its emotional core are passages from Kyle’s wife, who slowly watches as her husband’s affection turns from her to the SEALs and war."

Here's the full description of the book:

He is the deadliest American sniper ever, called “the devil” by the enemies he hunted and “the legend” by his Navy SEAL brothers . . .

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle’s masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

A native Texan who learned to shoot on childhood hunting trips with his father, Kyle was a champion saddle-bronc rider prior to joining the Navy. After 9/11, he was thrust onto the front lines of the War on Terror, and soon found his calling as a world-class sniper who performed best under fire. He recorded a personal-record 2,100-yard kill shot outside Baghdad; in Fallujah, Kyle braved heavy fire to rescue a group of Marines trapped on a street; in Ramadi, he stared down insurgents with his pistol in close combat. Kyle talks honestly about the pain of war—of twice being shot and experiencing the tragic deaths of two close friends.

American Sniper also honors Kyles fellow warriors, who raised hell on and off the battlefield. And in moving first-person accounts throughout, Kyles wife, Taya, speaks openly about the strains of war on their marriage and children, as well as on Chris.

Adrenaline-charged and deeply personal, American Sniper is a thrilling eyewitness account of war that only one man could tell.

New AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Photo of Peter and Harry

Dane DeHaan sent out the photo above on his twitter account recently, and it shows Peter Parker (Andrew Garlfield) and Harry Osborn (DeHaan). The photo was accompanied by the caption “Breakin’ it down #Osborn style… Yo”

It looks like Harry is showing something to Peter that he thinks is really cool.  Peter on the other hand looks like he's thinking, "I really hope I don't have to fight that thing."

Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens on May 2nd, 2014.

Hilarious IN THE LOOP and DOCTOR WHO Mashup Trailer

"WE'VE F****** TIME-TRAVELED, YES?" I only wish this is the 12 we would see come season 8. Taking scenes of Malcolm Tucker from In The Loop and from the last season of Doctor Who,  Peter Nottage has made me cry laughing. Doing this to the Doctor would be comparable to the edge they gave Wolverine in the '80s if they changed their minds and gave it to Captain America instead. To be honest, it wouldn't be too true to the character if he was overtly obscene, but it would be nice to see a grumpier man who's good with a quip. Can it be December already? I can't wait to see Peter Capaldi in action.

STAR TREK 3 to be Directed by Jon M. Chu?

According to our friends at Latino Review, G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu is at the top of Paramount Pictures' list of directors to take over for J.J. Abrams as the director on Star Trek 3. Abrams will be busy with Star Wars: Episode VII

It was previously rumored that directors Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), Justin Lin (The Conjuring) and Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible 4) were up for the gig, but they are all busy doing other things at the moment. All of them are a hell of a lot better choices than Chu.

I hope this rumor isn't true. Chu is a mediocre director that failed to impress me with his G.I. Joe movie, or any of his Step Up films, which are absolute crap. He is nowhere near the caliber that Abrams is at. In fact, it's almost an insult to replace Abrams with him. There are several other directors out there that are much more qualified, but Chu does have a relationship with the studio.

It's also being reported by THR that Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be returning to write the third film.   As of right now, there are no details on the film's story, but there is speculation that it will center on the Klingons, and that Benedict Cumberbatch's Khan could be back as well.

What do you think of the possibility of Chu directing Star Trek 3

The final eight episodes of Breaking Bad season 5 start on Sunday, August 11th at 9 p.m. ET. The last thing was saw was Hank putting together all of the pieces of W.W. and Walter White, and shit is about to get real! I can't believe we've had to wait so long for the series conclusion, but we're almost there, and I can't wait to see what happens to these characters!

Sam Rockwell in Talks to Star in POLTERGEIST Remake

Producer Sam Rami's remake of Poltergeist just got a little more interesting. According to The Wrap , Sam Rockwell is in talks to take on the male lead in the film, which would be fantastic! Rockwell is one of my favorite actors working right now, and it'd be fun to see him in a horror film like this.

Gil Kenan (Monster House) is directing the film from a script written by David Lindsay-Abaire. If Rockwell is cast he'll star along side Rosemarie DeWitt, who is already set to play the female lead. The site goes on to say that Rockwell is the filmmakers' top choice, "and that the actor is intrigued by the prospect of a lead role in a studio movie."

According to previous reports, this remake will almost serve as a sequel as it exists in the same world as the original movie, much like the Evil Dead remake. It's supposed to take place years after the Freeling's were chased out of town by a poltergeist. If you want to know more details about the story, click here.

There's a great movie out right now called The Way Way Back, which is one of the best roles Rockwell has ever had. I highly suggest you check it out if you haven't already.

"Ask for something Weird."

Marvel and Disney have released an image that teases a Weird new project they are developing. The image comes with the following brief announcement,

This weekend, only at the Walt Disney Parks & Resorts pavilion during the Disney D23 2013 Expo, ask for something WEIRD and get your first look at an all-new project coming from Marvel & Disney!

There's no word on what this could be, but it could be a movie, an animated TV series, a video game, an amusement park attraction, or a number of other things. It could even be a Doctor Strange tease!  We'll find out soon enough, so stay tuned for details because we'll be covering the event.

Do you have any idea what this might be?

Action Hero Maniac - Original Geek Art

Here's an insane piece of original geek art featuring an action hero maniac. The illustration was created by CGHUB artist artizako. The guy is jumping through the air out of an explosion while being riddled with bullets, and it looks like a big ol' knife is going to get him in the gut. He's also taking on a lot of different types of villains. I think this is so cool, and I'd love to get a backstory on it.

Neve Campbell Cast in Dystopian Thriller DIVISION 19

Outside of the Scream franchise, Neve Campbell hasn't really done anything notable. (Not that I know of anyway.) But she has been cast in a new dystopian sci-fi thriller called Division 19. The movie was started as a Kickstarter last month, and is far from reaching its goal, but it looks like they found funding from an outside source and started production in Detroit this week. The movie also stars Jamie Draven (Billy Elliot) and Clarke Peters (The Wire). Here's the official description of the story, and below it you'll find the Kickstater video:

Division 19 is set in a future where the burgeoning need for social control has led to mass-criminalization. With jails overflowing, the Central Control have brought in a data-warehousing specialist who has turned the jails into online portals allowing citizens to monitor felons and vote on what they eat, wear, read, watch and when they fight.  By far the most popular and downloaded felon is Hardin Jones - used 24/7 to sell everything from jeans to beans.
When Jones escapes, he wants just one thing: His anonymity. But a group of crypto-anarchists who have taken on the State need his influence to help their cause. Hardin isn't interested. He just wants off the radar. Until he finds out the architect of the prison complex is planning on rolling out Panopticon TV out to a whole new town. And the first resident of this new experiment town, will be Hardin's brother Nash.

This is actually a really interesting concept, and I'm curious to see how it plays out. Do you think the movie will turn out to be a good one?
