Live-Action DARIA Movie Trailer with Aubrey Plaza

0
0

College Humor has created a fun live-action trailer for MTV's animated series Daria, and it stars Aubrey Plaza as the title character. The fake film is called Daria: High School Reunion, and it features several of the other characters from the series.

Daria Morgendorffer returns to Lawndale and discovers her shallow classmates have grown into shallow adults.

I wonder if this little trailer could lead to an actual live-action feature film. It was done really well, and if you're a fan of the series I'm sure you'll love this.

Kevin Feige on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and More IRON MAN Films

As you've already heard, Marvel had a huge presence at this year's Comic-Con, and even though not many people know a lot about Guardians of the Galaxy yet, it has the potential to be the most epic Marvel film so far. During a recent interview with Collider, Marvel President Kevin Feige talked about that film and whether or not we will see anymore Iron Man movies. He also confirms that the 2016 and 2017 phase three of their plan won't be unveiled for a while, and teases their D23 plans. Here's what he had to say...

On Guardians Of The Galaxy:

"It’s not a secret. Nobody knows it. It was not a successful live action TV show in the ‘70s. It didn’t have a successful cartoon line. It isn’t a part of video games. It is the least known, which is exactly why we’re doing it. Do you know what I’m feeling here? I’m feeling excitement for Batman vs. Superman. I’m excited for that. It’s awesome. But it’s another movie with combined comic book characters. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Thor. I think they’ll be excited for what we’re doing with Captain America, but there’s a sense that I feel here, which is, “we love this. They’re revealing the Winter Soldier! Oh my God, look what Loki’s doing!” But there’s a sense of, “what’s new?”.
"So the need for the new is something we talk about, and we’ve been talking about for the past five years. Everything we’ve done has been a plan, has been premeditated. I love that Warner Bros. is doing it. I love that there will be announcements from other studios later today, about this notion of shared universes. It did not exist, and we thought it’d be fun to play with it. I love that our success has inspired people to do it, because the audience said, “we like that. We want more of that, please.” So, I love it, and I can’t wait to see those movies that come out. We’re not thinking three years ahead, even five years ahead and 10 years ahead. How do we keep it fresh? And Guardians is our big answer to that."

On whether or not we'll see a Fourth Iron Man movie regardless of Robert Downey Jr.'s involvement:

"I’ve said it before and it wasn’t negotiating tactics. I believe Tony Stark is as strong a character as Batman. We’re about to head into our fifth or sixth Batman – however, you wanna look at it – James Bond, etc. So, there will absolutely be future Tony Starks and future Iron Mans. Who makes those movies, and when those movies are made, who knows? I don’t know. But, the notion with Robert’s contract in The Avengers 2 & 3, is to allow new characters. Part of what we love about The Avengers is the shifting roster. That’s what’s fun about the comic book movies. You shift them up. So, certainly that was a lot of the thought process that went into it."

On when Marvel will announce their 2016/2017 line-up:

"Well, it’s only 2013 now. But, I think it would probably be, at the earliest, a year from now."

On their plans for D23 2013:

"Absolutely. Totally. It’s a unique, big, and important Disney corporate event. It’s at least every other year. And D23 has the slight advantage that it takes place a little bit later. So, for movies that are currently filming, there will be more stuff available at that point."

Here's a fun stylized opening title sequence to The Avengers 2 as though it had been made in the 1920s. It was created by YouTuber thatdarnaccount, and I hope you enjoy it!

THE LEGO MOVIE - Watch the Full Comic-Con 2013 Panel

Warner Bros. LEGO Movie is sure to be a big hit. The stuff that I've seen from the film so far has been spectacular! I love the animation style and tone of the film. This is going to be as LEGO as a movie about LEGOs can get. If you're looking forward to the movie and you weren't able to make it to the Panel, then here you go! Enjoy!

GRAVITY - Full Comic-Con Panel

Gravity was one of the most talked about films at Comic-Con. Since Comic-Con ended, Warner Bros. has released two amazing continuous shot clips and a new intense trailer.

If you've been impressed by the clips, are a fan of the director and actors involved, or just want some insight into the technology that was created to make this film possible, then you're sure to enjoy this panel. If you're also interested in masked men with amazing voices, this is a must watch.

Moderated by Chris Hardwick, the panel featured writer-director Alfonso Cuarón, producer David Heyman, and Sandra Bullock. Cuarón reveals how he was able to get the best performance out of his actors, opens up about the support Warner Bros. gave them in pushing the technology, the films of the '70s that inspired Gravity, and shooting long continuous takes. Heyman explained how the high speed rotating camera rigs posed a danger to the actors and how Cuarón's need to push the limits is the "best pain in the ass"… he really said that. Bullock also discussed the technology they developed for the film, and went into how she would prepare for scenes and spend time in the rigs between takes, and how her dancing background helped with training for the film.

Rapunzel Cast in Disney's INTO THE WOODS

Disney has cast actress MacKenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel in their big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Into the Woods.  She joins Anna Kendrick,  Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracy Ullman, and
Christine Baranski.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides director Rob Marshall is developing the film, and the story follows "a childless baker and his wife who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch that put the spell on them. Along the way, they encounter Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk’s Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, and other classic fairy tale characters."

I'm not sure how good of an actress MacKenzie is, as she has only really been is soap opera's such as Guiding Light and The Bold and the Beautiful. For the most part though, the movie has an incredible cast.

The movie is set to be released on December 25th, 2015.

COMMUNITY - Watch Full Comic-Con Panel

As you know, Community is coming back for a fifth season, and Dan Harmon will be on board to steer the ship in the right direction! This was a great panel, and it looks like we're going to get a very entertaining fifth season.

Harmon came (sort of) flying in as Iron Man, and he was joined by executive producer Chris McKenna and stars Alison BrieYvette Nicole BrownGillian JacobsKen JeongDanny Pudi, and Jim Rash.

They are still very much hoping to reach their 6 seasons and a movie goal. Enjoy the panel thanks to Emergency Awesome.

Rosamund Pike Joins David Fincher's GONE GIRL

Jack Reacher co-star Rosamund Pike has been cast alongside Ben Affleck in David Fincher's next film project, Gone Girl.  The news comes from THR, who also says that Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry are being looked at for supporting roles.

The project is an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel, and the story centers on a woman, played by Pike, who disappears on the day of her fifth anniversary with all evidence pointing to her husband as the killer. Affleck is set to play Pike's husband. The story will mostly be told through flashbacks.

This will be a great project for Fincher to take on. He's great with these kinds of thrillers. I would have much rather seen him make 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, though. Unfortunately, that's not happening anymore.

BREAKING BAD - Watch Full Comic-Con Panel

It's been a long week of Comic-Con goodness, and we're still bringing you stuff to check out! Here's the full panel for AMC's Breaking Bad, which took place in Hall H. This is one of the best series on TV, and I'm sad to see it go, but it seems like everyone is very satisfied with how the series is going to end.

Series creator Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Bob Odenkirk, and RJ Mitte all showed up to talk about the series. They also announced that Chris Hardwick will be hosting a recap show for Breaking Bad called Talking Bad. There's a lot of great stuff that they talk about during the panel, so if you're a fan of the show then this is definitely worth watching!

New BEVERLY HILLS COP Movie Moves Into Development

0
0

As you know, Eddie Murphy was developing a Beverly Hills Cop TV series with Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and CBS. Barry Sonnenfeld (MIB) was brought on to direct, and it starred Brandon T. Jackson, Kevin Pollak, and David Denman. They shot the pilot, it tested well, but for one reason or another the network decided to pass on the show, and no other network jumped in to pick it up.

If you were looking forward to seeing the adventures of Axel Foley continue, don't worry, because according to Ryan, Paramount Pictures has put a new movie into development! Here are the tweets he sent out.

There's no information on what the movie will be about, but I guess there's a chance it could be the same storyline used for the TV series. It centers on "Axel Foley’s blue-collar police officer son, Aaron, who helps take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while trying to escape the shadow of his larger-than-life father."

Before the TV series was even proposed, Murphy was trying to get a fourth movie off the ground. At one point Brett Ratner was attached to direct it. Are you excited to hear that we could actually get a Beverly Hill Cop 4

Guy Plays Lost Woods Theme From Zelda On a Unicycle In The Woods

The "Lost Woods Theme" from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time  is one of the most memorable video game songs from the game. Well, that and the "Song of Storms," "Zelda's Lullaby," "Great Fairy's Fountain," "Gerudo Valley"....okay so most the songs in that game are classic in their own respect, but this guy didn't play those songs. Watch a man ride a unicycle through the woods as he plays the "Lost Woods Theme" on accordion, not just because you want to, but because you have nothing better to do.

Bryan Cranston Is Pure Evil in COLD COMES THE NIGHT Trailer

In case you still have a little sympathy left for Bryan Cranston's character in Breaking Bad, here's a trailer for a film he stars in that shows you just how evil Cranston can get. The movie is called Cold Comes the Night, and it also stars Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness).  It looks like an intense film. Cranston sure can be a meanass son-of-a-bitch.

The story follows a struggling motel owner (Eve) and her daughter who are taken hostage by a nearly blind Russian gangster (Cranston) to be his eyes as he attempts to retrieve his cash package from a crooked cop.

The movie comes out on September 20th in the UK and will hit US theaters later in the fall.

"Ice Ice Baby" Sung by Clips from Movies And TV

Yo VIP, I got a video for you. Here's a short that required way too much effort for such a ridiculous, but incredibly awesome, idea. I'm not the biggest fan of Vanilla Ice, but I can appreciate the amount of time it took to throw these clips from film and television together to rap "Ice Ice Baby." There are way too many to count, but at a glance you'll see House of Cards, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, The Big Lebowski, Batman & Robin, Terminator, TMNT, and Trailer Park Boys  for starters. Enjoy it, and apologies in advance if the song's in your head the rest of the day.

WAYWARD MANOR: Neil Gaiman's First Game Oozes Charm

0
0

Neil Gaiman has been quite busy of late, what with his recent Q&A tour, co-writing Guardians of the Galaxy with Brian Michael Bendis, and bringing one of his creations, Angela, over to the Marvel Universe proper. Now he's adding Game Creator to his already impressive resume, and the game is called Wayward Manor. He has partnered with The Odd Gentleman, makers of The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom (a game that itself is incredibly charming and different) to construct a puzzle game that credits you with the task of scaring everyone out of your home. Think of it as the "I can't find a peaceful place in my house so everyone get out!" simulator, but ghostly. Plus, it has a butler, and any game with a butler is immediately more enjoyable (Fable 3 would not be as enjoyable without a Jarvis, and yes, I did actually enjoy Fable 3).

"Set in a 1920s Victorian Gothic pastoral estate, WAYWARD MANOR players unravel the mystery of a ghost (player) seeking a peaceful after-life. After a remarkable cast of characters moves into Wayward Manor and wakes him from his post-mortem slumbers, the ghost must find ever-more inventive and brilliant ways to scare them away. As the ghost learns more about the living characters, he also learns more about his own death and after-life, and the danger they are all facing."

Watch Gaiman's pitch below.

You can head over to the official website and contribute towards the game via some Kickstarter like packages. $10 is mighty tempting to own the game, at least for me. Here is a bit more of what Neil had to say about the game (via his interview with Mashable)

"Normally in a game, if you're in a haunted house, you are going to be walking through it intrepidly with your flashlight, your bell-book and candle, and your copy of the Necronomicon and you keep going until you find the ghost. In this one all you want to do is be left in peace with your lovely house and be left alone. I don't want to give anything away but it's safe to say you were killed in the 1880s and you were killed for a reason."

Sounds interesting to be sure. The game is aiming for a Fall 2013 release on PC and Mac, and if successful there will be future episodes, so if you're interested make sure to give it some support.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE - International Trailer

Lionsgate has released a brief new international trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. If you want to see a better trailer for the movie, though, watch the one they released at Comic-Con. The movie hits theaters on November 22nd.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour' of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Meta Golding, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, Maria Howell, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Sam Claflin and Jeffrey Wright.

Badass ROBOCOP Geek Art

I've seen a lot of Robocop fan art, but to be honest, most of the art I've seen hasn't really been awesome enough for me to post. This piece was created by Gerald Parel, and it's freakin' badass!  I've been trying to hold off on my use of the word badass, but sometimes I see something that warrants the use of it, and this is one of those things. I hope you like it!

2 Episodes of THE WALKING DEAD Season 4 Will Be Devoted to The Governor

0
0

Just because the Comic-Con trailer for The Walking Dead Season 4 didn't contain any footage of David Morrissey as The Governor, that doesn't mean he's not going to be in it. In fact, according to TV Line there will be two episodes devoted to the character. Here's what they report,

"The Governor" by Kuroutadori

"The Governor" by Kuroutadori

"Well, I can tell you that he’ll have a major presence in at least two Season 4 episodes, both of which are being unofficially billed as ”standalone Governor” installments. No specific intel on when those episodes will air, but I hear they’ll likely fall in the first chunk of eight."
So the Governor will get a couple of standalone episodes to let us know what he's up to, which is great! I imagine whatever happens with the character will spill into season 5. I just want to see him and Rick come face to face again for a showdown!

LINSANITY has a Release Date!

One of the most buzzed about movies at Sundance this year was the documentary Linsanity. The movie follows Jeremy Lin’s life from his childhood in Palo Alto, Calif., "to his meteoric ascent to stardom in early 2012 with the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Assn., giving rise to the term Linsanity."

Our writers Eli and Ben saw the movie, and they had nothing but amazing things to say about it. You can watch their glowing video review for the movie here

I really wish I had been able to see it for myself up at the film festival, but I'm glad that my chance is coming later this year. The doc was picked up by Ketchup Entertainment, and they will release it on October 4th, 2013!

Here's the synopsis:

In February 2012, an entire nation of basketball fans unexpectedly went 'Linsane.' Stuck in the mire of a disappointing season, the New York Knicks did what no other NBA team had thought about doing. They gave backup point guard Jeremy Lin an opportunity to prove himself. He took full advantage, scoring more points in his first five NBA starts than any other player in the modern era, and created a legitimate public frenzy in the process. Prior to this now-legendary run, Lin had faced adversity in his career at every turn. He wasn't offered a scholarship by any major university, nor was he drafted by any NBA team after a standout collegiate career at Harvard.
