A Further Look At The Tech Of ROBOCOP!

With the upcoming reboot of Robocop on the horizon, the Sony promotion department is ready to shove it down our throats. Open wide because here we go.

Empire released some images of the technology that is going to be in the upcoming Jose Padilha movie. You can check out the official Omnicorp site. You will be able to see the changes that JP has made, but you can tell that he kept the essence of the original film.

Here is a small character overview from Empire, and enjoy the rest:

Director José Padilha's slant on the cyber-copper gives Joel Kinnaman the title role, and that of his pre-injury, fully human version, Alex Murphy. Gary Oldman plays a scientist who helps convert Kinnaman’s cop into the cyborg officer, while Samuel L. Jackson is Pat Novak, a “charismatic TV mogul", presumably with a touch of the Bill O'Reillys about him.

Homemade High Voltage Wolverine Claws

What's more dangerous than a pair of razor sharp claws? A pair of electrified, razor shape claws.

James beautifully crafted his very own pair of Wolverine claws a few years ago. Inspired by the homemade hammer of Thor that generates 80,000 volts of electricity, he decided to give his claws an electrifying upgrade of their own. Using a transformer from an old oil furnace with an unknown amount of voltage, James lets the sparks fly.

Check out his modifications as well as the how-to video for the original claws below.

Comic-Con did a little something different this year in Hall H and showed a collection of short films gathered from around the world. Out of all the films they ended up showing this was my favorite, and I can guarantee it's going to entertain the hell out of you!

The short is called The Centrifuge Brain Project. It was created by Till Nowak of Frambox Digital, and it gives us some insight on some insane scientific experiments with amusement park rides. Enjoy the show!

A Young Boy Searches for Superpowers in CAPTAIN T&T - Short Film

A comic book obsessed six-year-old boy's earnest quest to discover superpowers takes him on adventures, but could lead to real danger.

Captain T&T was written and directed by Christopher and Leizelle Guiness and stars Kden Hee Chung, Blair Cameron, Sherwin Marcelle, Lucille Poon Kwong, Arlene Simon, Jabari Mcqueen, Niall Royal, Runty Magic, Rizario St Cyr, Wayne Burgess, Mark Wallace, and Zeek Loregnard.

This touching dramatic short is laced with gorgeous cinematography and striking hand-drawn animation. My only warning would be that the quick cuts and shaky POV shots might be too much for anyone who easily gets motion sick.

Riddick director David Twohy, Vin Diesel and Katee Sackhoff came to San Diego to show off a bad-ass new red-band trailer for their highly anticipated new sci-fi action film ! That trailer is now online for your viewing pleasure, and you're going to love the hell out of it! Watch it now!

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

In anticipation of their Comic-Con panel, 20th Century Fox has released a new banner for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which will be a centerpiece of their presentation. It will be fun to see what they show off. I loved the first film, and I hope this one ends up being just as good.

The movie is being directed Matt Reeves and stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises), Keri Russell (Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line), and Judy Greer (The Descendants).

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

The movie comes out on May 23rd!

SDCC: WTF John Barrowman?!

Any  Doctor Who  or Torchwood fan knows and loves actor John Barrowman. True to his character on both shows, Barrowman has been known to take very seductive pictures highlighting the bisexuality of his character, so most the time it's him and dudes in compromising positions. Usually it's nothing more than a man in his arms or a woman by his side. I posted this one because I don't think you'll ever see a photo op with a celebrity doing this ever again.

4-Minute Trailer for Hayao Miyazaki's THE WIND RISES

Check out this stunning four minute trailer for Hayao Miyazaki's new animated film, The Wind Rises. I love Miyazaki's style, and this movie is beautifully animated. There's no doubt it's going to be an incredible addition to his resume.

The movie was inspired by Miyazaki's own manga, Kaze Tachinu, and a novel by Tatsuo Hori. The story focuses on Jirō Horikoshi, the designer of Japan's famed Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane of World War II.

The movie is set to premiere in Japan on July 20th. It will eventually make its way to the states, and I can't wait! Enjoy the new trailer!

Henry Cavill and Christopher Reeve Go Head to Head in Superman Animatic

Man of Steel's Henry Cavill comes face to face with Christopher Reeve in this life-like animatic from Animatic Media. I'm not sure if there's supposed to be a follow up. In the description they say "find out who wins," but there's no clear winner.

The Christopher Reeve-era Superman had a much wider (at times ridiculous) set of powers over the course of four films than what we saw from Kal-El in Man of Steel. But Zack Snyder and David Goyer's approach to the character and advances in technology allowed us to finally see Superman's unbridled use of his god-like power and speed.

Which Superman do you think would win in a fight?

Britt Robertson Cast in Disney's TOMORROWLAND

Under the Dome's Britt Robertson has been cast as the female lead in Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof's upcoming Disney film Tomorrowland. Details on the film are slim, but it also stars George Clooney (The Descendants) and Hugh Laurie (House). Robertson is a great young actress that also starred in the wonderful indie film The First Time, which you should check out if you haven't already. She'll be a great addition to this film production!

The story follows a young girl robot played by Raffey Cassidy, "who has been around for decades. Also a key factor: She knows several fighting styles. She has a previous relationship with Clooney’s character, a bitter inventor."

The movie is set to be released December 19th, 2014.

Vin Diesel Teases Big Marvel Announcement

Vin Diesel recently teased a meeting he has had with Marvel. The studio wants him for something, and it sounds like they are currently in talks and working out the details. There's no confirmation on whom he'll be playing yet, but there's a lot a fan speculation.

While he was promoting Riddick during the Sony Pictures panel, a fan asked the actor what his "vision"might be for the Marvel cinematic universe, emphasizing the word vision. A lot of fans think that he could be in line to v play Vision in the Marvel Cinematic universe, which is something the actor has teased in the past.

Diesel laughed at the question saying that it's the one thing thing he's not supposed to talk about. He then said that there's some very big Marvel news coming at the end of the month. It's safe to assume that around that time they will officially announce who Diesel will be playing.

Like I've said before, I personally think that Marvel is going to bring him on as the big bad villain Thanos. I think he'd be awesome as Thanos, and they still have yet to officially cast the character. Who would you like to see Diesel play?

After being dropped into a windowless, doorless room, a young man must face his ever-changing co-occupants that are brought and taken away by the flick of a mysterious light switch.

Switch was animated entirely in Flash CS3 by Tyson Hesse for his graduating thesis. This is a great short with a fun and simple concept and some nice laughs. Be sure to watch to the very end.

Michael Caine Joins THE SECRET SERVICE

Although we're still short of an official announcement, it appears that Michael Caine will be joining Matthew Vaughn's big screen adaptation of The Secret Service by Mark Millar. If this is true (which, judging from Millar's reaction on Twitter, it seems like a sure thing), Caine will be starring alongside Leonardo Dicaprio and Colin Firth in this comic book adaptation penned by Millar and Dave Gibbons. If this story holds up, this is a film I'm not going to miss for sure! What an awesome cast so far! What role will Caine be playing you ask? Comicbookmovie seems to think he'll be  the leader of the team, and I'd say that's a pretty safe bet.

VERONICA MARS - Comic-Con Trailer and Featurette!

Yesterday, fans at Comic-Con got their first look at the long-awaited big screen debut of Veronica Mars. It was awesome seeing creator Rob Thomas, Kristen Bell, and the rest of the cast gathered onstage talking about the movie they're making. They're all extremely excited to be making the movie, and when talking about it, Thomas said,

"I can tell you that it sort of has a Godfather III theme to it, which is odd, because why not pick Godfather II? It was better. … I can tell you Veronica has not worked as a private detective since the last time you saw her. Part of this movie is her getting back into this life she thought she left behind."
They showed off a behind the scenes featurette and a trailer for the film during their panel, and that has now been released online for all of you to see!

The video below is just under five minutes long, and it includes clips from the production, cast interviews, fan praise and a teaser trailer. If you're excited about the movie, then you're sure to really like what they show off!

The movie is set to be released in early 2014, now watch the trailer!

GAME OF THRONES Comic-Con In Memoriam Video

"Remember those we have lost."

I'm sorry to report that the Game of Thrones panel at Comic-Con was the most boring panel I've seen so far at the convention. The best part of the panel was this in memoriam video featuring all of the characters that have been killed off in the show so far, and it shouldn't come as a surprise that there is so much death! Other than that, not much happened. There was nothing really revealed or shown about season 4 during the panel.

Game of Thrones Season 4 comes to HBO in 2014.
