Al Pacino Joins DESPICABLE ME 2

If you needed any further clue that Al Pacino's career has gone down the tubes, he has just joined Despicable Me 2. Deadline reports that the Godfather will be making his first animated movie and voicing the villain. Universal Pictures and Illumination Ent. are overseeing the sequel to the 2010 film, which made $543 million on a $69 million budget. Not much is known about his role, but he will be joining Steve Carell as Gru.

Pacino has had starred in such films as Scarface, Heat, and Dog Day Afternoon. Despicable Me was okay but did not warrant a sequel. At least he has a great voice, which is important for an animated film. What are your thoughts on this news?

THE WOMAN IN BLACK - Final Clip Arrives

Daniel Radcliffe is scaring audiences in period garb this weekend in The Woman in Black. CBS Films released a new clip for the film (via IMDb). I have heard some mixed reviews on the film.

Here's the synopsis:

The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client's papers. As he works alone in the client's isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.

Watch the clip, thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, and share your thoughts.

TWILIGHT'S Booboo Stewart Joins HOUSE OF THE DAMNED 3D

Twilight's Booboo Stewart has joined House of the Damned 3D, according to MarketSaw. Japanese director Takashi Miike is being sought to helm the horror film.

Here's the official storyline:
Five friends band together to save the historic part of their town and inadvertently become targets of a serial killer after uncovering the truth behind a series of grisly murders that went unsolved ... Until now!
Nothing else is known about the film at this time. Filming is slated to begin in Louisiana in late March. The production is using 3ality Technica rigs to shoot the horror film in native 3D.

Here is what producer Ethan Terra said:
With House of the Damned 3D our goal is to cross utilize the 3D to submerge the audience so they feel like they are apart of the movie, and of course to pull off some really cool in depth 3D effects. Because this film is controlled by an independent studio we have more creative control over what we can and can not do, and this film is aimed right at the horror fan in all of us.

If Takashi Miike is brought on, then I think that this run of the mill horror movie could become pretty cool. It will be interested to see how the native 3D looks. What are your thoughts on this news?

New Image for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION

Paramount Pictures has released this brand new image from the Jon Chu-directed G.I. Joe: Retailiation. The image gives us a new look at Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Bruce Willis as Joe, and a few others most likely planning an attack on Cobra.

There was a time where I could care less about this movie, but now that I've seen a couple of trailers I'm now actually very excited about it.

Here's the Synopsis:

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

The movie is set to be released on June 29th, 2012! In case you missed it, check out the latest awesome Super Bowl spot.

THE RAID Remake Gets a Screenwriter

0

First of all, after having seen The Raid, I'm here to tell you that there's no need for this remake. I don't see any way that a remake of this Indonesian film is going to be better than the original. It doesn't make sense that it's being remade. The Raid is by far the best action film I've ever seen, and I just don't see how a remake will top it.

That being said, the remake is still moving forward and Screen Gems has hired Brad Ingelsby to write the script, which should be too hard. After all, the script has already been written once. Ingelsby wrote a script for the film The Low Dweller and recently sold a script to Warner Bros. called Run All Night.

The director of the original film Gareth Evans, will have some input on how this remake gets made, but he's focused on developing his much larger scale sequel, which will take the story from an apartment building out into the street of the city. I'm actually more excited for the sequel than I am this remake. Hell! I'm more excited about seeing the original film for a third time than I am for the remake! I just don't think it will live up to the standards of the first.

What do you think?

Harrison Ford in Talks To Star in BLADE RUNNER Sequel!

I seriously didn't think that we would see Harrison Ford back as Deckard in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner sequel. After the movie was announced last year and Scott signed on to direct it producer Andrew Kosove gave an interview in which he said,

In no way do I speak for Ridley Scott but if you're asking me will this movie have anything to do with Harrison Ford, the answer is no. This is a total reinvention and in my mind that means doing everything fresh, including casting.

That seemed to be a pretty definitive answer to Ford's involvement, but according to Twitch, the actor is actually in early talks to reprise his role in the movie! Maybe Kosove said all that just to throw us off, because if this news is true, they obviously want Ford back. They have just begun talking with the actor, and there's always the possibility that things wont work out, but I would absolutely love it if Ford agreed to do this sequel! I'd actually be more excited about that than a complete reinvention as previously believed.

What are your thoughts on Ford possibly coming back to be in the Blade Runner sequel?

THE DEATH AND RETURN OF SUPERMAN - Hilarious Max Landis-Directed Short Film

Chronicle director Max Landis has released a great short film for all of you to see called The Death and Return of Superman. The film is an hilarious educational parody video rant that recounts the story of when in 1992 DC Comics decided to kill off Superman and then resurrect his ass. Do you remember when that all went down? I do. That was a dark time and it seemed like everyone was enraged at DC Comics for how they handled that whole thing. It was so sloppily done! I remember buying Superman #75, and I remember being so pissed off, and I'm being completely honest when I tell you this... I never bought another Superman comic again.

The film gives you a look at how much a fanboy Landis actually is, and it has an all star cast that includes Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Ron Howard, Chris Hardwick, and Simon Pegg. This short had me busting up laughing all the way through, because these were all of my thoughts on this comic book fart packed into one of the best rants I've ever seen on the death of Superman. Here's a note from Landis...

I'm not drunk in the video, I only get about three cups in. The original rant was 45 minutes long, so of course we had to cut a bunch of stuff out for time, and because it was just too stupid. Like for instance the part where Pa Kent dies of a heart attack and literally GOES TO HEAVEN. AND SEES SUPERMAN.

If I saw this video, I might nerd rage out so hard. But luckily I made it, so I'm pretty happy. Really I'd hope people just are with me, and happy that Guy Gardner and Bloodwynd get to be in a movie.

Tell us what you think about Landis' thoughts after your done watching it... enjoy!

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN - New Images, Wallpapers and Character Bios

The official web-site for Sony Pictures The Amazing Spider-Man has released a few new images, wallpapers and character bio's for the great looking Marc Webb directed film. I'm excited about what this film is going to give us. I think what we've been shown so far is just the tip of the ice berg.

Here's the synopsis:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.

As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The movie is set to be released on July 3rd, 2012.

RIDDICK - Another New Still Arrives

Vin Diesel has shared another new photo from Riddick on his Facebook page. Earlier we shared the official announcement that filming had begun, which contained casting news and a synopsis. Click the image above to see the new photo thanks to CBM.

Each of the images look great so far. I am definitely happy that Riddick will have an R-rating. Diesel had this to say along with the photo:

"The Furyan left for dead...

GRRRR...

P.s. A Riddick production still, from this week's filming."

Here is the synopsis:

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

The film does not have an official release date, but we will keep you posted. Are you looking forward to seeing Riddick in the theaters?

Here's the Super Bowl trailer for Universal Picture's upcoming sci-fi action film Battleship. The Spot contains some cool footage from the film, including a new look at the aliens who are invading earth in it. I'm really hoping this movie turns out to be as fun as it looks.

Here's the synopsis:

Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

JOHN CARTER Super Bowl Trailer

0
0

Disney has released the new TV spot for John Carter. Andrew Stanton directed the sci-fi adventure, which is based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel. The spot did not really excite me to see the film anymore than I already was. I think it will look decent on the big screen, so I plan on seeing it in theaters.

Synopsis:

The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Watch the spot below, and share your thoughts.

John Carter arrives in theaters on March 9, 2012.

Clint Eastwood's Super Bowl Chrysler Ad - HALFTIME IN AMERICA

0
0

Actor, director, and all around badass Clint Eastwood stars in this great inspirational Super Bowl commercial for Chrysler called Halftime in America.

It really is a great commercial. Unfortunately I own a Chrysler made vehicle, and it's seriously the worst and cheapest car I've ever owned, and I bought it new! I've never had so many problems with a car in my life. I'll tell you what, they keep making cheapass cars like the one I have, there's no doubt they'll end up eventually going out of business. Their customer service sucks as well; they do nothing to help you. Yeah, I've obviously had a bad experience with them.

Now, regardless of how I feel about Chrysler, I do like this Super Bowl ad. Check it out below, and tell us what you think!
