Surprising Trailer for PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES 2!

$

I went through my Plant Vs. Zombies phase. Basically, I played it until I got to a level that I just couldn't beat. I'm sure I'll jump back in when Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time comes out.

PopCap Games and Electronic Arts released a new trailer for the sequel, and it's surprisingly awesome! I wasn't sure what they could do for a trailer that would make it interesting, but they made an animated short that turned out really cool!

The game is set to be released in July of 2013, exclusively for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch in the App Store. Enjoy the trailer!

Marvel's AVENGERS Team up with PHINEAS AND FERB - Trailer

Phineas and Ferb is one of those shows that I've been forced to watch because my kids love it. It's ok though. It can actually be pretty funny. I don't know if I'm just saying that to make myself feel better, or because I've been brainwashed by it.

Marvel's The Avengers are set to guest star in an upcoming special called Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel and we have a fun trailer for you to watch. Basically, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk lose their powers and Phineas and Ferb jump in to help. The episode also includes Nick Fury, Red Skull, Venom, Whiplash, and MODOK.

This looks more entertaining than the upcoming Avengers Assemble series. I'm sure we'll start seeing more of these crossover series happening in the future. I imagine Disney will end up doing the same thing with the Star Wars characters.

Chevy Chase Will Be Back for HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2

Chevy Chase is set to return as the repairman in Hot Tub Time Machine 2. He'll be joining Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, and Adam Scott. John Cusack unfortunately won't be returning for the sequel. Steve Pink will be back to direct.

The first film was an '80s throwback flick that followed four men who use a magical hot tub to travel back in time to a fateful night from their teenage years in the '80s where they could change the outcome of their future. There's no word on whether they will be traveling back to the '80s again or another time period in their lives, but I'm sure they've come up with another funny idea.

The Dark Knight's Battractor

Check out this incredible tractor built in the Netherlands that looks like the Dark Knight's tumbler. I don't know if this is custom made, or if this is just how they build their tractors in the Netherlands. Either way it's pretty rad looking, and if I lived on a farm that's the tractor I'd want.

Tom Hardy to Star in Takashi Miike's THE OUTSIDER

Japanese director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, 13 AssassinsAudition) is in negotiations to direct a post-World War II film called The Outsider. Miike is an incredible director, but what makes this film production even better is that Tom Hardy will be taking the lead role.

Joel Silver is producing the film, which is based on an original idea by John Linson. The story is described as being an epic that chronicles "the life of a former American G.I. who becomes part of the Japanese yakuza." The yakuza are members of the transnational organized crime syndicates in Japan and are notorious for their strict codes of conduct and very organized nature.

Hardy is blowing up as an actor right now, and he's taking on a lot of diverse roles. He next stars in Mad Max: Fury RoadAnimal Rescue with Noomi Rapace, and Child 44. He's also considering playing Elton John in Rocketman.

This sounds like a fantastic project for both talents! I'm sure they will end up delivering an amazing movie.

Leonardo DiCaprio Set to Play RASPUTIN

Warner Bros. has picked up a pitch for a film about Rasputin, and they are going to develop it for Leonardo DiCaprio who will play the title character. The studio acquired the pitch from American Sniper scribe Jason Hall, who will also write the script. This screenwriter is on fire right now. On top of American Sniper, which is being directed by Steven Spielberg, he's also writing another film for the director called Thank You For Your Service, which could star Daniel Day-Lewis

Rasputin will follow the "Russian mystic who became an advisor to the Russian Imperial family the Romanovs. Embraced by Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra as a healer for their only son, Tsarevich Alexei, who secretly suffered from hemophilia, Rasputin’s influence with the family in all matters grew to the point that rivals tried several times to kill him, finally succeeding in 1916."

There have been several movies made about Rasputin over the years but according to Deadline, "there were new elements here unearthed by Hall that sparked DiCaprio’s interest and gave psychological depth to the so called 'mad monk.' To his enemies, he was a charlatan who prolifically bedded women, possibly including the Tsar’s wife. DiCaprio liked the complicated elements of a child who lost the better part of himself when his brother died, and was capable of kindness but also a ruthlessness. Rasputin, who earlier had survived being stabbed, was shot, strangled, shot again, all in one night, and finally drowned when thrown into the icy Neva River."

If there's a great movie to be made out of the story of Rasputin, this is going to be it. It will be interesting to see DiCaprio in a role like this. I'm sure he'll be able to pull it off.

WHO Watch 2013: Kickstarter to Send TARDIS in Space Nearly At Goal!

So no real updates to note in the search today minus Jenna Louise Coleman who swears she has no clue whom it will be, and that every British actor under the sun is throwing his hat into the race for "the next Doctor". In somewhat more entertaining news, a pair of Floridians (not an alien race but sounds legit) are almost at their goal to send a TARDIS into space! That's right, and you can be a part of it! This replica stands a foot in height and will actually be used in collaboration with other universities trying to get a satellite into orbit.

You can go to their Kickstarter and donate to have your name put on the TARDIS hard drive, post a picture, or get a free T-shirt. I know it's not life size, but with all that hard drive space the possibilities are certainly "bigger on the inside." Plus, the more money that's donated, the bigger they can build the thing, so pony up! I have!

Roland Emmerich to Develop New Alien Invasion Film EMERGENCE

Independence Day director Roland Emmerich has acquired the rights to a new sci-fi alien invasion project called Emergence. The pitch for the movie comes from Nic Kelman, and Emmerich is looking to direct it.

There's no information on what the film will be about but, according to Deadline, it is a large scale idea that is a "new take on an alien invasion story containing hot-button science elements."

They say it's a new take on an alien invasion story, but I can't help but think it's just going to be a rehash of everything that has already been done, but we'll see. Maybe it will surprise me.

The best film Emmerich has made was Independence Day, and his next film White House Down looks like it could be fun. But for the most part I'm not a big fan of his work. Maybe this will be a solid project for him to take on.

A Visual History of Superman's Signature 'S'

We're only a week away from Man of Steel being released in theaters! The last few weeks it seems like we've had one or two Superman posts a day, and I imagine that's going to continue until the movie is finally unleashed on the world.

Today, we bring you a really cool infographic that gives us a visual history of Superman's iconic 'S'. It starts with 1938 and takes us to the present day. It includes every incarnation of Superman's chest-shield as it has appeared in not only the comics, but in movies and TV shows as well. It is interesting to see just how much it has changed over the years.

Marvel wants Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Play Quicksilver in AVENGERS 2

Joss Whedon has been very vocal about the Marvel characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch being in The Avengers 2. Apparently, Marvel is already looking to cast the roles. According to Deadline, the studio wants Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson to take on the role! It's not set in stone. No deal has been made, but Marvel wants him on their team.

If they do get him to jump on board, I think he's a great choice. Johnson is a talented actor, and he could easily pull off playing this character. The report suggests that he might be too busy to make the movie though. The next time we see Johnson it will be in Kick-Ass 2, and right now he's shooting Godzilla

Bryan Singer recently announced that he cast Evan Peters in the part of Quicksilver for X-Men: Days of Future Past. What's funny about that is Peters and Johnson worked together on the Kick-Ass films.

What do you think about the possibility of Johnson taking on the role of Quicksilver in The Avengers 2? Are there any other actors you think would be better in the role?

THE WALKING DEAD Season 4 - New Behind the Scenes Video

AMC has released a new behind the scenes video for The Walking Dead Season 4. The series is now shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. This video focuses on Greg Nicotero, the special effects artist that is directing the first episode of Season 4. There's also some behind the scenes footage as well. They say that next season is going to be the best one yet, and talk about what we can expect to see.

The Walking Dead will return this October with another 16-episode season. I'm excited to see where they take the story and these characters. Even if you've read the comic you know that we still have no idea what they are going to do, and I like that. It makes the show interesting and less predictable.

The Walking Dead, the most watched drama in basic cable history, returned for an exhilarating third season on Sun., Oct. 14, 2012 at 9/8c. In this uncertain world, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors must not only fight the dead, but also face a whole new fear: the living. A 16 episode season, the series Entertainment Weekly called the "greatest thriller ever produced for television' will air in two parts, with the first eight hours kicking off October 14 and returning February 2013 with the final eight episodes.

In the highly anticipated third season, Rick and his fellow survivors continue to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world and soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 3 also introduces new characters, including the Governor (David Morrissey) and fan-favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), along with her zombie pets.

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead stars Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, IronE Singleton, Melissa McBride, Morrissey and Gurira. The series is executive produced by showruner Glen Mazzara, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert with Greg Nicotero, Denise Huth and Evan Reilly as co-executive producers.

The Walking Dead reigns as the most watched drama series on basic cable for Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54. The series has garnered two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Prosthetic Make-up, a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series - Drama, and a WGA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Writing Derivative New Media, among other accolades.

DEXTER Season 8 - Ten New Photos

Showtime has released ten new photos from Dexter Season 8 that give us a little tease at what's to come. I have no doubt this final season is going to have a crazy ending. It's hard to imagine what they are going to do with these characters. I don't see how it's going to have a happy ending, I just hope whatever they give us will be satisfying.

Season 8 "begins six months after LaGuerta’s murder – and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. As Deb struggles to deal with the consequences of her actions, a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter’s past."

The series stars Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Aimee Garcia, David Zayas, Geoff Pierson, and James Remar.

Dexter is set to premiere on Sunday, June 30th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

New ELYSIUM Photo - Sharlto Copley Confronts Matt Damon

We've got a new photo from Neill Blomkamp’s new sci-fi film Elysium for you to check out. It features the villain (Sharlto Copley) confronting the story's hero (Matt Damon) for an intense showdown. A part of this sequence was screened at Comic-Con last year, and it was pretty insane. Copley is going to be the ultimate badass in this movie.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

The movie opens on August 9th. I've also included the trailer for the film below.

New WORLD WAR Z International Poster Features a Zombie Swarm

This new international poster for World War Z features an insane swam of zombies destroying a city. This is a pretty frightening visual. I don't think we've ever seen a zombie horde of this magnitude before. I've been hearing really good things about this movie, and I hope it lives up to the hype.

United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

The film was directed by Marc Forster, and stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, and Matthew Fox. The film is set to hit theaters June 21st.

James McAvoy's new film Filth looks wickedly deranged in everyway, and this new restricted red-band trailer is a rush of adrenaline. The film also has a great supporting cast that includes Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent, EddieMarsan, Joanne Froggatt, Emun Elliott, Martin Compston, and Kate Dickie. The movie is based on the book by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, and here's the synopsis:

A bipolar, bigoted, junkie cop manipulates and hallucinates his way through the festive period, until he finally meets his match… himself.

Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?

There's still no word yet on when the film will be released, but you can watch the crazy trailer.

New Poster for CARRIE and 2 Banners for R.I.P.D.

We've got a new poster for Chloe Moretz's upcoming horror film Carrie, and a couple of banners for Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges' supernatural action film R.I.P.D. for you to check out.

Carrie was directed by Kimberly Peirce and also stars Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, and Portia Doubleday. The movie hits theaters October 18th, 2013. Watch the trailer here.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

R.I.P.D. was directed by Robert Schwentke (RED) and also stars James Hong, Mary-Louise Parker, Robert Knepper, and Kevin Bacon. It opens in theaters in 3D on July 19th, 2013. Watch the trailer here.

Nick is dead -- at least, that's how he remembers it -- and teams up with another deceased detective, a gunslinger from the Old West (played by Jeff Bridges), to work for the elite task force, the Rest In Peace Department (hence the title), to track down the dead on Earth. (Due to overpopulation, some unsettled spirits haven't gone where they're supposed to, and are hiding out). Technically, R.I.P.D. officers (who are overseen by (Mary-Louise Parker) aren't allowed to kill anyone living, and aren't supposed to interact with anyone from their previous lives, but Nick is haunted by the fact that he was murdered by another cop (played by Kevin Bacon), and can't let it go.

Both these movies look like they are going to be great, so I'm excited to check them out.

Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Winter Solider (Sebastian Stan) continue their fight in a few new set videos and photos from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. One short video features Rogers leaping at Winter Solider and punching him a few times, the other features a car chase sequence. There's also some great up close photos of Winter Soldier. This is sure to be a fun scene in the movie.

Now we just need to see a good solid photo of Cap in his costume. The ones we've seen so far have been blurry and hidden in shadow.

Namco Bandai has released the E3 Trailer for Tales of Xilla, which is releasing this August for PS3, and to call it epic would be underselling it. Kingdoms under siege, backstabbing lieutenants, spirits and magic, and some beautifully animated combat are all present here, and I can't help but look forward to spending many hours in the land of Xilia. Peep the trailer below to see what I'm talking about.

Nice, right? Who else is planning on picking this up?

Denzel Washington in Talks to Join SHOVEL READY

$

Denzel Washington is an incredible actor. He was great in Robert Zemeckis' Flight, and now he's in early talks to join another new film, called Shovel Ready

Warner Bros. is developing the project, which is an adaptation of an upcoming novel written by journalist Adam Sternbergh. The story is set in "a bombed-out, near future New York City where most of the population escapes reality by tapping into a digital fantasy world, a contract killer is hired to kill the daughter of a powerful, maniacal evangelist. Ultimately, the killer becomes the girl’s protector."

This sounds like it could be a really cool film, and it's right up Washington's ally. It seems like it would be a great project for him, and I hope he takes it on.
