More 70s Style X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Set Photos

$

A couple new photos have surfaced from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past featuring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Peter Dinklage showing off their 1970s clothing style. McAvoy looks more like a Vietnam vet than he does Charles Xavier. What do you think of Xavier's 70s look? And I wouldn't look too much into why he's walking, because they probably weren't shooting when the photo was taken.

Entourage’s Doug Ellin Developing BAD SANTA 2

Entourage creator Doug Ellin is now set to write and possibly direct Bad Santa 2. This is a sequel to the 2003 dark comedy with Billy Bob Thornton. I wasn't really a big fan of the first movie, so I don't really care that a sequel is being made. I know it has a big following though, so I'm sure it will do well at the box office.

Thornton will be back for the sequel, and hopes to start shooting in the fall after he's finished shooting his next project London Fields with Amber Heard.

This sequel has been in development for a few years, and Ellin has started a rewrite from a script previously written by Johnny Rosenthal. I like Ellin's work, so maybe he'll find a way to make me like this not-so-likable character.

New PACIFIC RIM Featurette - "Oversized Robot Set"

This new Pacific Rim featurette is titled "Oversized Robot Set," and it includes a good amount of more really cool footage! It also features Guillermo del Toro discussing the giant robot head that he had built for the film, and admits that it was a torture device that his actors were forced to play in. It actually looks kind of fun, but I can see how going though it all day long could take a toll on a person. It ranks really high on the awesome factor though!

The movie drops into theaters on July 12th, to catch up on all of our Pacific Rim news, click here

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Kings of Summer comes out in limited theaters this weekend, so if it's playing in a theater near you, I suggest you go see it because it was fan-freakin-tastic! CBS films has released two pieces of great poster art and a funny new red-band clip for the film, featuring Nick Offerman being lectured about the boy who cried wolf by a cop. The story follows three teenage boys who are fed up with life with their parents, so they make a plan to journey into the wilderness will they will build a home of their own and live off the land like men.

The movie also stars Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie, and Mary Lynn Rajskub. It's set to get a limited release on May 31st and expand into more theaters the following week. You can read our review for the film here and watch our video review here

THE KINGS OF SUMMER is a unique coming-of-age comedy about three teenage friends – Joe (Nick Robinson), Patrick (Gabriel Basso) and the eccentric and unpredictable Biaggio (Moises Arias) – who, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. Free from their parents’ rules, their idyllic summer quickly becomes a test of friendship as each boy learns to appreciate the fact that family – whether it is the one you’re born into or the one you create – is something you can’t run away from.

ENDER'S GAME - New Photo and Asa Butterfield Discusses Film

Above you'll find a new photo from Gavin Hood's Ender's Game, featuring Asa Butterfield as Ender playing around in zero gravity with Harrison Ford's Colonel Graff. Empire Magazine also talked with Butterfield about the long-awaited sci-fi film, touching on subjects such as Space Camp, stunts, wire work, and the uncomfortable Battle Room Flash Suits.

On Space Camp:

That was our very first week. It really broke the ice between all of us kids — we were good friends by the end of it. And it also gave insight into how it would have been to gone to Battle School. We were taught to march, all about cadences, and did a bunch of army drills. Lights off at 9pm. Awake at 7am. Pretty brutal, but I’d do it again.

On Wires And Stunts:

It was really good fun. But yeah, wearing harnesses for nine hours, by the end of the day you’re glad to get out of them. It’s really tiring staying up there. And the chafing… it’s exactly as you might imagine. All through rehearsals we would spend an hour each day on the wires. And then we spent a month and a half shooting the scenes. There was plenty of time flying around.

There’s a really cool sequence where I’m sort of spinning over backwards and I let go of my guns. They’re floating by my side just going along. As I push myself through these two stars, I spin back over and grab the guns, then shoot the people around me. I loved doing that.

On His Battle Room Outfit:

It’s called a flash suit. It looks incredible, but wearing it was pretty uncomfortable, because they were tight and thick and didn’t give you all that much movement. It’s like wearing three wetsuits and then putting on body armour over that. We had a few versions: a normal one, and then a slightly bigger one which let you wear a harness underneath. You wouldn’t want to wear one for more than an hour.

You would think they would be able to make comfortable costumes these days for movies that can still look cool. I guess not. I've been waiting for this movie for years, and it looks like it will end up being a good adaptation. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but close enough.

Ender’s Game hits theaters on November 1st, 2013, and you can watch the trailer here. The movie stars Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Moises Arias, KhylinRhambo, Viola DavisBrandon Soo Hoo, and Nonso Anozie

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

First Look at Hound from TRANSFORMERS 4!

Michael Bay has revealed that Hound will be a part of Transformers 4 and just released our first look at the vehicle that character will be. Bay says "the always rugged and reliable Hound, one of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles from Oshkosh Defense."

Hound was originally an Army Jeep and is one of my favorite characters from the animated series. I wish they would have kept him as a Jeep, but an all terrain assault vehicle will have to do. I'm glad to see he'll be included in the movie.

The movie stars Mark WahlbergJack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, T.J. Miller, and Li Bingbing. We're still waiting on official story details, but the movie comes out in theaters on June 27th, 2014.

Closed Circut is the new film by Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy director John Crowley, and it looks fantastic! The movie boasts an impressive cast that includes Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall, Riz Ahmed, Jim Broadbent, Kenneth Cranham, Anne-Marie Duff, Ciarán Hinds, and Julia Stiles.

This international terrorist thriller follows "two ex-lovers, Martin (Bana) and Claudia (Hall), who find their loyalties tested and their lives at risk when they are joined together on the defense team in a terrorism trial." I really like Crowley's detailed and meticulous filmmaking style. The guy knows how to make great international thrillers and build suspense.

The movie comes out on August 28th.

BLADE RUNNER 2 Moves Forward with Screenwriter!

Ridley Scott has been talking about making a sequel to Blade Runner for years. I've been wanting to see him finally get to this, and we are now one step closer. They just hired Michael Green to write the script. He's one of the writers who worked on the Green Lantern movie, which doesn't spark much confidence. He must have had a good pitch for the film though, otherwise they wouldn't have let him write it.

There is no official confirmation on if the movie will be a sequel or a prequel, but according to The Wrap, "it will be set some years after the conclusion of the influential first film." They also say that Scott will be back to direct the film, and that he's trying to get Harrison Ford to reprise his role, which would be amazing! If Ford is willing to come back as Han Solo for the next Star Wars film, I'm sure he'd do another Blade Runner movie!

The original 1982 film didn't do very well at the box office or with critics. The movie was just ahead of its time. Over the years it's gained a massive fan base, and people seem to like it now.

Green most recently wrote the script for the epic Moses movie Gods and Kings, and got his start working on TV shows such as Smallville and Heroes. Blade Runner is an epic property to take on, and I imagine there's a lot of pressure to create something fans are going to love. So to Green I say... good luck.

Awesome Movie Cars Fan Art

Here's the latest illustration from artist Scott Park, in which he merges two of his greatest loves: movies and cars. It includes cars from TV shows and video games as well. I think it does a great job of fitting all of the iconic cars in there. Now, if you could have one car from any movie what one would it be? I'd personally have to go with the DeLoean from Back to the Future, with the hover conversion of course.

Thanks to Scott for the heads up on these!

Pixar's Monsters University looks like it's going to be a great, and I'm excited to see it! Disney has released three new clips for the film that give us a closer look at the relationship between Mike and Sulley, the fraternities that they join, and the other monsters in them. The movie comes out on June 21st, 2013, now enjoy the clips!

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer.  The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning composer Randy Newman  (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in 3D in select theaters.

Doctor Who's Russell T. Davies and Phil Ford have a new series coming to the U.S. on the Hub Network called Wizards Vs. Aliens. It's set to debut this Saturday with a two-part episode at 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. ET. After that, new episodes will air at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturdays.

The series "centers on a 16-year-old wizard (Scott Haran, Upstairs Downstairs) and his best friend (Percelle Ascott, Mandem on the Wall) who embark on a dark crusade to save the world against Nekross, an alien race determined to drain the world of magic. The show also stars Annette Badland (Doctor Who), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Michael Higgs (EastEnders), Jefferson Hall (Vikings), and Tim Rose (Star Wars), among others."

Sounds like a really fun show that I can watch with the kids. The series has already been going strong in the U.K., where the second season is already in production. I'll be looking forward to watching this. If you've already seen it, let us know what your thoughts are on it!

Moon director Duncan Jones is hard at work with Blizzard developing the long awaited big screen adaptation of World of Warcraft. Thanks to /Film, we've learned that the movie will start shooting in 2014! They recently caught up with producer Charles Roven who said,

First quarter 2014 we’re going to shoot that movie. We’re moving forward; obviously Legendary is making that film and I’m having a great time with Duncan.

I've been waiting for Jones to take on a big epic scale movie, and I know he's going to give us something incredible. I'm so excited to see what he's planning with this thing. Hopefully we get some more details on the movie soon. Maybe at San Diego Comic-Con?

Doctor Who's Karen Gillan Cast in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!

Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has joined the cast of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy! And guess what, she'll be playing a villain. Gillan played the Doctor's companion, Amy Pond, for a few years, and I have to admit... I have a fanboy crush on her. She is just so damn beautiful.

There's no information on whom she'll be playing in the movie other than it will be the lead female villain. Hopefully we don't have an over crowding of villains in the James Gunn directed film. Gillan also joins Michael Rooker and Lee Pace who are also playing villains. Then there's Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Samuel L. Jackso, Glenn Close. John C. Reilly may also end up in the movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing who else will be cast, but I love that Gillan is going to be playing a villain in it. She's going to be awesome! I can't wait to see who she's playing. Do any of you have any idea who it might be?

Violent Clip from Ethan Hawke's THE PURGE

Here's the first film clip from the thriller The Purge. It features Ethan Hawke's character brutally fighting off a couple of masked maniacs. I can see why people would think this movie looks stupid, but I think it actually looks promising. I think it will deliver some solid entertainment.

The story focuses on a society where crime is legal for one night out of the year to let people vent their frustrations, and murder people. One family locks themselves down in their fortified house for the night until one of their stupid kids lets a stranger into the house.

It was written and directed by Assault on Precinct 13 and The Negotiator writer James DeMonaco, and it comes from the producing team that brought us Paranormal Activity and Sinister. The movie also stars Lena Headey, Rhys Wakefield, Max Burkholder, and Adelaide Kane

The Purge is out in theaters now, so check it out when you get a chance. I won't get to see it until later next week.

If on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do? In The Purge, a speculative thriller that follows one family over the course of a single night, four people will be tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home. In an America wracked by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—becomes legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It’s one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking. When an intruder breaks into James Sandin’s (Ethan Hawke) gated community during the yearly lockdown, he begins a sequence of events that threatens to tear a family apart. Now, it is up to James, his wife, Mary (Lena Headey), and their kids to make it through the night without turning into the monsters from whom they hide.

Artist Creates 300 Cartoon GAME OF THRONES Characters

This is a pretty epic art project. Macedonia-based artist Тхе Мичо has created cartoon style art for 300 of the characters from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice book series. He actually made every single character. I'm not going to post them all here, but if you want to see them head on over to his Facebook page. It's a pretty incredible feat.

The characters' likenesses are based off of the descriptions in the books rather than what we've all seen in the HBO TV series. Of course, you're going to see similarities though. I've included The Hound, Tyrion, Ned, Dany, Jon Snow, Jamie, Jaquen, Brienne, Melisandre, Arya, and a few other characters.

The style kind of reminds me of Genndy Tartakovsky's Samurai Jack.

I don't have any tattoos myself. I've thought about getting one, but I can never come up with anything that I'd want permanently on my body for the rest of my life. Some people just say "the hell with it" and find something they really love and just go for it.

Here are a few Star Trek tattoos for you to look through, one of which features Jason Criss's USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D knuckle tattoos. Here's what he had to say about it,

It took me a while to figure out what kind of Star Trek tattoo I wanted to get. I finally decided that the enterprise d on my knuckles was the best choice for me. It’s still a work in progress there will be more shading and colors after the initial outline heals.

Check out the rest of the Star Trek tattoos below. I'm sure many of these make good conversation starters.
