Watch Benedict Cumberbatch Take a Shower of Evil in STAR TREK

As you may have heard, there are some people out there that are up in arms about the shot of Alice Eve in her underwear in Star Trek Into Darkness. It was a really quick shot, and I didn't think it was anything to make a fuss over. After all, it's no secret Kirk likes the ladies. No one made a fuss about the green girl in her underwear in the first movie. Even Zoe Saldana had more underwear time in the first film! I don't recall anyone complaining then. Oh well, what can you do. People pick and choose their battles.

J.J. Abrams showed up on Conan last night and talked about this issue a little and revealed that they cut out a gratuitous scene of Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain taking a shower of evil. You can watch that clip below.

DiCaprio Developing WWII Drama with Lehane and Greengrass

Leonardo DiCaprio is teaming back up with Shutter Island author Dennis Lehane. Lehane will script a new World War II drama DiCaprio is developing called Travis McGee. Paul Greengrass (The Green Zone) is set to direct it.

As of right now, DiCaprio is only producing, but like all of the projects he produces, he could end up starring in it as well. The movie will be based on a book called Deep Blue Good-by, which is part of 21 book series with the first one "following its main character as he tries to find treasure from WWII."

This is the first script for a film that Lehane will write that won't be based on one of his own books. Lehane is a great writer, so I trust that he'll do a solid job adapting this. Here's a short description from the novel:

He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half....

THE WOLVERINE Graces New EW Cover and 2 Photos

The upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly features "Huge" Jackman on the cover looking completely ripped as The Wolverine. I also included a couple of new photos from the film. Jackman talked about the Wolverine films saying,

Somehow the first Wolverine movie ended up looking like the fourth X-Men – just with different characters. I left unsure if we’d achieve our goal, which was to make sure people understood my character. This movie will really get to his core.

So hopefully in this next movie we'll get better acquainted with the elusive anti-hero. Of course, if you've been reading the comic books, you're already so acquainted with the character that no movie that Fox makes will ever do him justice. But we'll have to wait and see. The Wolverine does look pretty incredible.

It comes out on July 26th!

Unused Poster for Tim Burton's BATMAN

This is an unused poster design for Tim Burton's original Batman film with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. The poster the studio ended up using became iconic, but this one is pretty cool too. It also comes along with an interesting tag line.

In the not too distant future, law will have no meaning, courts will have no power and justice will have no champion, and then he will return.

That doesn't really sound like the movie that was made. Return from what? In fact, CBM points out that it sounds more like Judge Dredd, and I have to agree.

You can see more unused posters for movies like Pulp Fiction, Oceans 11, The Exorcist, and Unforgiven over at daybees.

This is the chaotic first teaser trailer for Metallica's 3D concert and narrative hybrid film Metallica: Through the Never. The movie was directed by Nimród Antal (Predators, Kontroll), and it stars Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) who plays a road crew member who is "sent out on an urgent mission while the band is playing a rousing live set in front of a sold-out crowd and unexpectedly finds his world turned completely upside down." It looks like an interesting film, especially if you're a Metallica fan.

Starring Metallica, a cast of thousands of their fans and breakout star Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Metallica Through the Never is written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Nimrod Antal (Predators, Kontroll) and produced by former IMAX film producer Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth). The film marries groundbreaking footage and editing techniques with a compelling narrative, in which a band crew member (played by DeHaan) is sent out on a mission during Metallica’s roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena. While on this mission, he unexpectedly has his life turned completely upside down.

The movie opens in IMAX theatres for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27th, 2013. The movie will then expand into more theatres on October 4th, 2013.

Fantastic Animated Short Film - OBSOLETE

Whenever I hear the word "obsolete," I automatically think about The Twilight Zone episode "The Obsolete Man." This animated short film has nothing to do with that episode other than the title, Obsolete, but I was just pointing out the fact that the word itself puts me in Twilight Zone mode.

Anyway, this animated short tells the story of "a robot starting work in a decrepit toy factory. Trapped in the factory all its life it is curious about the outside world, watching a bird through the factory wall each day. When it mistakes a toy on the production line for the bird one day it sets the robot's escape in motion."

The short was created by Vimeo user , and it turned out fantastic! Watch it below.

TIMECOP getting the Remake Treatment

Universal Picture has decided to take the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme sci-fi action film Timecop and remake it. Why? I guess they thought they could do a better job this time around, and you know what? They're probably right.

Look, I enjoyed Timecop just as much as the next guy, but let's face it, the movie was far from perfect. I can see someone actually turning it into a better film. I know it's one of Van Damme's best and most successful movies, but it's not one of my favorites. It's just kind of ridiculous that Universal has resorted to remaking this film. I don't know how it can be any better than the Total Recall remake, and that movie bombed.

The original film was based on a story published by Dark Horse Comics, and it's set in the near future "where time travel is regulated by a police force, and one officer (Van Damme) runs afoul a crooked politician using time travel to further his political career."

The studio is currently looking at writers to take it on. Van Damme is not involved with the production.

What do you all think about TIMECOP getting remade?

Steampunk Zombie Hunters - Adventures of the League of S.T.E.A.M.

I was just introduced to a new web-series called Adventures of the League of S.T.E.A.M., and one of their episodes features these steampunk characters taking on a horde of zombies. The episode is called "Dead End," and turned out to be really fun. It's a bit silly, but still pretty awesome. There's some great inventive moments and I think you'll all enjoy this. So check it out!

Quicksilver will be in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Before AVENGERS 2

$

The Marvel character Quicksilver has been in the news a lot recently because Joss Whedon plans on using him and Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2. What's interesting about this is that Bryan Singer has revealed the character will now be a part of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and he's cast American Horror Story star Evan Peters to play him.

Singer tweeted out the news saying....

Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver."

Marvel actually owns the film rights to this character as well. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously explained the arrangement they have, saying:

We both have them. There's a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with Avengers, but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. They can use them as mutants and as Magneto's relatives, but cannot have anything to do with The Avengers.

It will be interesting to see two takes of this character by two different filmmakers. Makes me wonder if they plan to include Scarlet Witch in the X-Men movie as well.

Peters seems like a solid actor, and he joins Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, and Boo Boo Stewart.

The movie is set for release July 18th, 2014.

The film is based on the comic book storyline "Days of Future Past," which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne's run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

RETURN OF THE JEDI 30th Anniversary Doc by Kyle Newman

This Saturday marks the 30th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. To help celebrate the occasion, Fanboys director Kyle Newman made a great short documentary called The Return of Return of the Jedi: 30 Years and Counting. It includes interviews with Seth Green, Kevin Smith, Chris Hardwick, Jaime King, Topher Grace, Fall Out Boy, Eli Roth, and Jason Mewes.

Return of the Jedi was the one Star Wars film I got to see on the big screen when it was originally released. I remember going to the local Drive-In theater with my parents, and I remember how much I loved it! That's one of my earliest movie going experiences that I remember.

Check out the fun documentary for yourself over on Entertainment Weekly. They don't have an embeddable video at the moment. When you're done watching, let us know about your first experience with Return of the Jedi

MONSTERS UNIVERSITY - Mike and Sulley's First Morning

Disney has released a new film clip from Pixar's Monster's University featuring Mike and Sulley's first awkwardly hectic morning together as roommates.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike's plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, "Sulley" (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair's out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

The movie opens up in theaters on June 21st, and it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed the first film, and I've heard this one is going to be just as good. Check out the clip!

New Trailer for Adam Sandler's GROWN UPS 2

I'm so not excited for Grown Ups 2, but here's a new trailer for it that shows off more ridiculous attempts at being funny. The sequel brings Adam SandlerKevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, and Maria Bello back together for the comedy adventure. It doesn't look like Sandler's worst film, but I'm still not going to pay money to see it. I used to be a huge fan of Sandler, but his films just seem to get progressively worse. He's getting less and less funny every time I see him. He's a really nice guy though!

This second gathering of childhood friends finds Lenny (Sandler) moving his family back to the same small town where he grew up. Now, the adults are the ones learning from their kids as the last day of school and its antics and surprises take center stage.

The movie will be released on July 12th, 2013, and here's the new trailer.

Is the POLTERGEIST Remake Actually a Sequel?

$

0

Just the other day we got our first story details for the Sam Raimi produced, Gill Kenan directed remake of Poltergeist. Only it might not be a remake. Some new information suggests that the movie is actually more of a sequel, or a sequel and reboot.

Let's start off with the information that was already revealed, and then we'll jump into the sequel details.

The new version follows Eric Bowen and his family who, after he loses his job, relocate to a new town to start anew. His daughter, Madison, is abducted, making him truly understand what’s important in life: family. In the new version, Eric’s wife, Amy, can communicate with the dead.

Another interesting new character is Carrigan Burke, a television personality who hosts “Haunted House Cleaners.”” The supernatural doesn’t scare this guy. Dr. Brooke Powell is Carrigan’s ex-wife who is a parapsychologist at a local university. Her team investigates the supernatural events surrounding the disappearance of the Bowen girl.

Now here's the new updated information from Movie Hole.

Firstly, the Kenan-directed Raimi-produced reboot – much like the “Evil Dead” remake – exists in the same world as the previous “Poltergeist” films. So while it is a ‘reboot’ of the franchise, it’s also somewhat of a sequel – taking place years after the Freeling’s were ran out of town.

In one scene in the new film, the kids’ find some things behind the sliding panel in the attic. Yep, you guessed it – they find some of the Freeling’s possessions, intentionally left behind. There’s the Star Wars bed sheets (from Robbie’s room), a black-and-white TV set (why, of course!), and some Christmas decorations.

Although the new film may possess new characters and somewhat of a different storyline, all the “familiar beats” from the original “Poltergeist” films are in it. There’s the scary tree that proves a looming threat to our youngster (and gets pulled underground), the freaky ‘clown’ that sits upon a rocking chair in the bedroom (in this case, the clown sits in younger brother Griffin’s room), and of course there’s ‘phone’ trouble (in this case, older sister Kendra’s iPhone gets damaged by unseen forces), and of course the little girl – Madison – who makes friends with ‘The Lost People’ that nobody can see (but who don’t mind ‘showing off’ – making Madison’s hair stand up like she’s just been struck by electricity, being just one of their ‘tricks’).

I can see how they would call it a sequel, but at the same time, if the movie is going to end up playing out like the original film then I think it's more of a remake. I do like that it takes place in the same universe as the original film because there's always the chance that Craig T.Nelson and JoBeth Williams’ characters could show up in a later film as the site suggests.

The more I've thought about this, the more open I've become to the idea of a new Poltergeist movie. After all, Sam Raimi's Evil Dead remake ended up being pretty damn amazing, so I'm sure he can steer Poltergeist in the right direction, and give the fans something terrifyingly awesome.

Holy crap! LEGO built a full size X-Wing fighter from Star Wars made completely out of LEGO bricks. They used more than 5.3 million individual bricks to build it, and it weighs in at a whopping 46,000 pounds!

The 1:1 scaled replica is the largest LEGO sculpture ever built. It was unveiled at Times Square in Manhattan, and it will be there for the next three days. The statue will then make its way to the LEGOLand Resort in California where it will remain for the rest of the year.

Ray Stevenson Offers Details on THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Ray Stevenson, who plays Volstagg in Marvel's Thor franchise, recently offered up some interesting new details about Asgard in Thor: The Dark World and how it's changed. He also discuses his character, and what it was like working with the cast this time around. Here's what he had to say to the WSJ regarding Asgard:

In the first Thor, Asgard had this tremendous peace among the 9 realms. They were riding at the heights. Everything is working and looking as it should be. In this one, the realms are being whipped up into various rebellions. There is a darker malignant force out there and we are in the process of engaging in long protracted skirmishes and battles. The luster and shine of the city has been taken off and it all leads to a huge assault, an attack at the heart of Asgard. It could be completely wiped out, the stakes are a lot higher.

He goes on to talk about what we can expect from Volstagg the Voluminous this time around.

He’s great on a battlefield. He is one of the warriors three and doing what they do, their time is spent fighting on many different fronts. They’re not always fighting together. Volstagg is struggling, he has a brood, they are fighting for hearth and home as much as for the idea of Asgard itself. That’s where he has trouble. He’s all too aware of how potentially threatening this new enemy is on both the home front and the battlefield. Now is the time [for Thor] to rise up and assume of the mantle of king.

Stevenson then talked about the disconnect between the cast of the film this time around:

When we were shooting the original, we were real close. There was collectiveness amongst cast and crew. We spend more time together. In the second one, because the nature of the plot itself, the people involved were displaced and fractured. I saw Stellan [Skarsgard] one day before shooting and I never saw him again.

When asked if he thinks the disconnect will effect the film he said:

This is what’s going on now and this is the way things are working. I was tremendously part of this and I’m thrilled about it but I haven’t seen the film so I don’t know.

I'm sure it turned out just fine. The movie hits theaters on November 8th, and it looks amazing! To watch the trailer again to be reminded of the awesomeness click here

Spike Lee's Oldboy remake was originally scheduled to be released on October 11th, 2013 now it will be released on October 25th, 2013. It's not a drastic change, only two weeks. It moves the remake away from Sin City: A Dame to Kill, and closer to both Ender's Game and Thor: The Dark World.

The movie stars Josh Brolin as Joe Doucett, with Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, and Samuel L. Jackson. Here's the synopsis:

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

I'm interested to see how this turns out. To read up on all of our Oldboy news coverage click here.
