Want to Know What Classic Characters will be in TRANSFORMERS 4?

$

Whenever a rumor like this hits regarding Transformers 4, Michael Bay usually comes out and denies it. JoBlo claims to have an inside source that reveals the identity of several robot characters that might appear in the movie. I'm going to throw up a SPOILER warning, so I don't get crap for ruining the surprise. If you read on, it's your own fault.

Like I said; this is only a rumor. There is no confirmation of this news yet, but it would be extremely cool if it turns out to be true! Why? Because it means that we will finally get to see the Dinobots, Galvatron and Hound up on the big screen. Here's what they report...

That's right, folks, our source has confirmed that TRANSFORMERS 4 will feature none other than the famed Dinobots, including fan favorite Grimlock. No word on whether he'll retain his neanderthal voice, but one can only hope he does as that's a true staple of the character. One of the villains of the film will be a character named Lockdown, who has a ship full of decommissioned Transformers, including the dinobots, which are somehow brought back to life by a captured Optimus Prime. Prime is joined by returning autobot Bumblebee and at one point both characters (and potentially others) will "ride" the Dinobots into battle in Hong Kong (which fits well within the announcement that the film would film partially in China), with Prime on Grimlock and Bumblebee on a Pterandon, presumably Swoop.

Additionally, the autobot Hound will make his debut, as well as a former "Samurai" Decepticon that wants to regain his honor and become an Autobot. And what about Megatron, who is presumed dead after the last film? Well, fans of TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE will be happy to know that not only will the dinobots be making their debut, but also Galvatron, who is basically Megatron "reborn" (and originally voiced by the first Spock, Leonard Nimoy).

I don't know about you, but I've been waiting for the Dinobots to show up in this franchise, so I sincerely hope we get to see them. I also hope that they are portrayed right. We know that all of the Transformers are getting redesigned for this movie, and I'm interested to see what they end up looking like. I kind of hope they simplified them. I thought the first designs they came up with for the movies were way too complicated.

Are there any other robots you'd like to see show up in this sequel?

Steven Spielberg Developing HALO TV Series for XBox!

Back in 2010 as an April Fools joke, I posted an article about Steven Spielberg developing a Halo TV series. Little did I know, one day that joke would become partially true. There were also rumors of Spielberg being involved with a feature film version of the popular video game franchise. Well, today Xbox announced that Spielberg will actually be developing an exclusive live-action Halo series for Xbox, and I have no doubt it's going to be as amazing as we all want it to be!

Nancy Tellem, from Xbox Entertainment Studios, said ”Until now, the TV viewing experience has been a one way street for the viewer. But now that’s about to change.”

Spielberg is working directly with 343 Industries to develop the series. As of right now, there are no details, but I imagine they will be revealed in the near future.

Peter Jackson is back on the set of The Hobbit to finish up shooting the last two parts of Peter Jackson's final Middle Earth trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. Production has begun in New Zealand, and Jackson posted the following message on his Facebook page along with a behind-the-scenes photo that features him with Ian McKellen as Gandalf.

Back on set for our last Hobbit pick ups. Our last ever Tolkien pick ups, in fact. It's going to be an intense few weeks, but we're looking forward to shooting some powerful scenes with our great cast. Our next blog is coming soon!

I love the first film in the trilogy, and I'm incredibly excited to see the rest of the story play out over the course of the next two films.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on December 13th, 2013, and The Hobbit: There and Back Again will be released on December 17th, 2014. It's kind of sad that after this we'll never see anymore Middle Earth set films.

Kate Hudson and Anna Kendrick Join Zach Braff's WISH I WAS HERE

Zach Braff's Kickstarter film project Wish I Was Here is moving full steam ahead, and Kate Hudson has been cast as the female lead. Hudson's career took off when she played Penny in Almost Famous. After that breakout role, she started making a bunch of crappy rom-coms, and a few other films that ended up not being so good. In my opinion, she hasn't made a decent film since Almost Famous. Maybe that will change with this one. I know she's a talented actress. She just doesn't seem to pick the best projects. Anna Kendrick has also been cast in the film.

The story follows Aidan Bloom (Braff), "a struggling actor, father and husband who is still trying to find his identity and purpose at age 35." According to the report, "Hudson will play Braff's wife and the mother of his two children."

The film also stars Mandy Patinkin as Braff's father, Josh Gad as his brother, as well as Jim Parsons and Donald Faison

Regardless of the controversy surrounding Braff's use of Kickstarter to fund this movie, I love what he did with Garden State, and I'm looking forward to seeing his next movie.

DreamWorks Animation has released a new international UK trailer for their racing snail adventure film Turbo. The trailer features a lot more footage from the movie and gives us a more detailed look at the story they are telling. It looks like a fun flick that both kids and adults will enjoy.

XBOX ONE: Microsoft Goes All In

Microsoft has come a long way since the days of the original Xbox. Back then, we were just waiting for them to get smacked around a bit before bowing out to the then big boys Nintendo and Sony. As most things go, that didn't actually happen. Instead, they caught a daydreaming Sony and an otherwise invested Nintendo by surprise and delivered the most complete console of this generation, just as Sony had previously with the PS2

Now as history shows, the third console tends to have issues, whether that's from not doing enough as with Nintendo's Gamecube, or by promising and trying to do too much, as with Sony's PS3. Where Microsoft will sit after everything is done is anyone's guess, but at least from this early reveal it seems much more grounded than the PS4 or the Wii U. More evolutionary than revolutionary. With all that said, let's take a look at what we know about the Xbox One.

The Console

The professional and sleek styling is a good fit for this machine. It looks nice on a shelf, but doesn't immediately scream "LOOK AT ME! HEY! I'M HERE! PIZZA!" It houses an AMD based CPU, 8GB of RAM, and will have a 500GB hard drive built in. It also has a Blu Ray drive right out of the box, which is a long time coming. Peep some additional specs below.

The Controller

If it's not broke don't fix it comes to mind here, but there are a few tweaks. The overall shape is a bit more angled and less bulky. The triggers and bumpers have been reshaped just a bit, and the sticks have a rim around them that should help with grip. The D-pad looks improved, but I won't know for sure until I get my hands on it.

Kinect

The Kinect comes with a big upgrade to its depth sensor (now 250,000 pixels) and its camera, which is now 1080p. While the demonstration of switching between inputs seamlessly was impressive (using the built in mic), the gestures are still wait and see. I love the idea of it, don't get me wrong, but after having a Kinect previously, they'll have to really prove to me that it will handle that type of task in an everyday living room setting and not just in an intricately organized presentation hall.

The Games

None. Well except for EA announcing their sports titles are coming to the system and that Infinity Ward's COD: Ghosts (which does look nice btw). The presentation seemed to get flack on Twitter for not having more games. However, with E3 being just under a month away, who really thought they were going to reveal them? I didn't mind this approach, but I guess there is no pleasing us really. Sony debuted multiple games at their presentation, yet all I heard then was disappointment about which games and how many. See a trend? Let's move on.

Xbox Live

The first third of the presentation focused on how Xbox will work with live TV as well as with music, apps, internet, etc, etc. Some people liked that. Some people didn't. For my piece, here is what I will say (though you probably already saw this on my Twitter feed this morning): Consoles are not only for games anymore, and there is a specific reason why. The core gamer isn't 18 to 25 anymore. The audience changed, and so must technology with it. The core gamer is now 28 to 30, and to justify a $400 to $500 price tag your machine better do more than just play games, plain and simple. The days of the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo are gone. My 360 is a hub for my entertainment, and for many I know the PS3 is theirs. I play games all the time, but I also utilize it for Netflix, VEVO (leave me alone, I have to get my Rihanna and Ne-Yo fix somewhere), IGN, and Machinima Apps, Party Chat with friends, and soon with Skype. It is the center of my living room, which is how I can justify spending such an exorbitant amount of money on one item. The core gamer is an adult now, and I want a machine that can keep up with my multitasking lifestyle.

It's come a long way

To sum up, I was impressed, and while more features and revisions will be announced at E3 and beyond until it releases sometime this year, I can say I don't get the uneasy sense I got with the PS3 back in the day. I think for once the third console-itis that hit Sony and Nintendo so hard won't be so bad with Xbox. Then again, there is plenty of time left, so I guess we'll see.

What did you think of the reveal? Let us know! Also peep some extra pics below, and special thanks to Wired for the great photos.

POLTERGEIST Remake - Story Details Revealed

Monster House director Gill Kenan is set to helm the remake of the classic Steven Spielberg and Toby Hooper horror film Poltergeist. I'm not a big fan of this movie getting the remake treatment, but I hope it turns out ok. I don't see how it will be better than the original.

Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, we have our first story details on the movie. Here's what they reveal:

The new version follows Eric Bowen and his family who, after he loses his job, relocate to a new town to start anew. His daughter, Madison, is abducted, making him truly understand what’s important in life: family. In the new version, Eric’s wife, Amy, can communicate with the dead.

Another interesting new character is Carrigan Burke, a television personality who hosts “Haunted House Cleaners.”” The supernatural doesn’t scare this guy. Dr. Brooke Powell is Carrigan’s ex-wife who is a parapsychologist at a local university. Her team investigates the supernatural events surrounding the disappearance of the Bowen girl.

So there it is. As you can see, they are trying to make this film their own and set it apart from the original, which is better than doing a straight up remake, but the film will still be compared to the original no matter what they do. I want the movie to be awesome because I love horror movies, but it's hard when they go in and start messing around with a classic like this. Sam Raimi is also a producer on the film, and I hope he helps steer this thing in the right direction.

What do you think about the story details that have been revealed?

Trippy Trailer for Ben Wheatley's A FIELD IN ENGLAND

I'm a fan of Ben Wheatley's twisted films that include Kill List and Sightseers. Both of those movie were insane, and it looks like A Field in England is going to be just as entertaining. The story is set in the Civil War era, and it follows a group of soldiers who stumble upon a mushroom field, and from there things get wild. The first trailer for the film has been released, and it's pretty trippy. It doesn't give us a lot to go off of, just a lot of randomness, so I have no idea what's really in store for us, but I'm sure it will be great.

England during the English Civil War. A small group of deserters flee from a raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured by two men: O’Neil and Cutler. O’Neil (Michael Smiley), an alchemist, forces the group to aid him in his search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field. Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.

A Field in England will be released in UK theaters, DVD, Blu-ray, VOD and Film 4 on July 5th. Drafthouse Films will release it in the U.S. later this year.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - Another New Villain Rumored

$

0

Before we begin, I want to let you know potential SPOILERS lay ahead. As of right now though, this news is just a rumor, and nothing has been confirmed. That being said I will move on...

There's been a lot of news surrounding who the actual villain will be in James Gunn's Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. Of course, Thanos is going to be the puppet master in the background pulling the strings, but who will be the main henchman carrying out the orders and making life a living hell for our heroes?

Up until this point, we've heard a few different names such as Basil Sandhurst aka The Controller,  The Collector, and now we are hearing from our friends at JoBlo that Ronan the Accuser has been thrown into the mix.

I'm not sure how solid this rumor can be though. For those of you not familiar with the character, he's basically  the ruler of the alien race known as the Kree, and he has fought against the Fantastic Four, The Inhumans, and Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics. The site speculates, "it's well in line for him to be featured as the main villain, especially with Marvel looking to expand its cinematic adventures to the far reaches of space. Could this be a lead-up to the Kree-Skrull war in THE AVENGERS 2?"

Now from what I understand, Fox actually owns the film rights to the Kree the and Skrulls, not Marvel, which would make it very hard for them to pull this off. I just assume that Fox owns the rights to Ronan the Accuser as well, but I couldn't find anything. This would explain why Joss Whedon didn't use these alien races in The Avengers. They had to create their own alien race which seemed like a combination of the two.

It was already confirmed that The Collector would be in the film because Ophelia Lovibond was cast in the role as his aide. But, that doesn't mean we won't see more than one villainous henchman in the movie. Who knows who else we'll see. It seems like The Collector will definitely be included, and I think he's the villain that Lee Pace will be playing.

Guardians of The Galaxy also stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Michael Rooker as Yondu, and Zoe Saldana as Gamora. The movie is scheduled to start shooting in June, and it's set to be released on August 1st, 2014.

Do you think Ronan the Accuser will be part of the movie?

Zombies are a lot more awesome when they can parkour. Here's a great video featuring a small group of "the flipping dead" making their way through a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The zombie virus has evolved into a new breed of parkour zombies. No longer do they slumber as the walking dead, they are ferocious and fast, they are the flipping dead.

J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón have teamed up to bring us great looking new TV series on NBC called Believe. The sci-fi thriller follows a young girl with super powers played Johnny Sequoyah, and a death row inmate played by Jake McLaughlin who brakes out of prison to protect her.

Cuarón wrote and directed the pilot episode and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Abrams. We have the first trailer of the series for you to watch, and I think it looks awesome! Here's a detailed synopsis:

Levitation, telekinesis, the ability to control nature, even predict the future… since she was two years old, Bo has had gifts she could neither fully understand nor control. Raised by a small group known as the “True Believers,” the orphaned girl has been safeguarded from harmful outsiders who would use her forces for personal gain. But now that she is 10, her powers have become stronger, and the threat has grown more dangerous.

With her life and future now in jeopardy, the “Believers” turn to the only person they see fit to be her full-time protector. That is, once they break him out of jail. Tate, a wrongfully imprisoned death row inmate who’s lost his will, is initially reluctant – until he witnesses one of her extraordinary abilities. Bo sees people for who they truly are… and who they may become.

Tate and Bo begin their journey, one in which trust must be earned. Traveling from city to city, every place they stop and everyone they meet will be changed forever. But they’ll have to keep going to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces after Bo’s power… because it will take a miracle to keep them safe forever.

The powers of a young girl may hold the fate of our world in “Believe,” from executive producer J.J. Abrams (“Revolution,” “Star Trek: Into Darkness”) and executive producer/writer/director Alfonso Cuarón (“Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” “Children of Men”). One-hour drama.

The show will premiere sometime during the 2013-2014 season. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!

Guillermo del Toro has released a new behind the scenes featurette called "Deep Space" for his epic looking new film Pacific Rim. The video is introduced by the director, and it features the cast and crew talking about the film while showing off some cool footage from it, some of which is new! They discuss in detail the mind melding aspect of the film, how human minds connect so that they can control the Jaeger robot as one. It's really interesting stuff, check it out!

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
