Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil director Eli Craig is set to write and direct a new dark comedy called Little Evil for Universal Pictures.

There's absolutely nothing on what the movie will be about, so there's not much else more to report. But! Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil was an awesomely hilarious movie that you have to see if you haven't already. If you have seen it, then you know what Craig's type of humor is. I'm looking forward to seeing what Little Evil turns out to be.

Chris Pine (Star Trek), Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity) have been cast in a new post-apocalyptic film called Z For Zachariah.

The story follows "a teenage girl who lives alone and maintains a farm in the only valley with breathable air in the wake of nuclear war. Her world is turned upside down when two strangers wander in from the forest."

The film is being directed by Craig Zobel (Compliance) from a script written by Nissar ModiTobey Maguire is producing the movie, and here's what he had to say in a statement:

Everyone at Material Pictures and Zik Zak Filmworks is thrilled “Z for Zachariah” has attracted such a dynamic and talented cast. With Modi’s enthralling script and the vision Zobel has for the film, we’re excited to bring such a captivating story to audiences.

I'm not really sure what to expect from this movie, but it's packed full of great talent. The movie is based on the book by Robert O’Brien. Here's a description:

Ann Burden is sixteen years old and completely alone. The world as she once knew it is gone, ravaged by a nuclear war that has taken everyone from her. For the past year, she has lived in a remote valley with no evidence of any other survivors.

But the smoke from a distant campfire shatters Ann's solitude. Someone else is still alive and making his way toward the valley. Who is this man? What does he want? Can he be trusted? Both excited and terrified, Ann soon realizes there may be worse things than being the last person on Earth.

Fun and Quirky Trailer for THE YOUNG AND PRODIGIOUS SPIVET

Here's a wonderfully beautiful trailer for Jean-Pierre Jeunet's new film The Young and Prodigious Spivet. The movie is based on the novel The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet, which is the debut novel by Reif Larsen.

The story follows a 12-year-old cartographer who "secretly leaves his family's ranch in Montana where he lives with his cowboy father and scientist mother and travels across the country on board a freight train to receive an award at the Smithsonian Institute."

If you're not immediately familiar with who Jean-Pierre Jeunet is, he's the director of the amazing French film Amelie. The movie stars Kyle Catlett (The Following) in the lead role, Helena Bonham Carter, Judy Davis, and more.

This is an international trailer. There's no word on when the movie will be released in the U.S., but is looks fantastic! I love Jeunet's visual style.

Here's a description of the book:

A boundary-leaping debut tracing a gifted young map maker’s attempt to understand the ways of the world

When twelve-year-old genius cartographer T. S. Spivet receives an unexpected phone call from the Smithsonian announcing he has won the prestigious Baird Award, life as normal—if you consider mapping dinner table conversations normal—is interrupted and a wild cross-country adventure begins, taking T. S. from his family home just north of Divide, Montana, to the museum’s hallowed halls.

There are some answers here on the road from Divide and some new questions, too. How does one map the delicate lessons learned about family or communicate the ebbs and flows of heartbreak, loneliness, and love?

ASSASSIN'S CREED Movie Has a Release Date!

20th Century Fox and New Regency Pictures have announced that they will release the feature film adaptation of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed on May 22nd, 2015! Michael Fassbender is set to star in the film which is currently being written by Michael Lesslie.

There's no director attached to the film yet, but Ubisoft will maintain control of key elements of the movie's creative direction. They are guiding the film and story in the direction they want it to go. It's safe to say they will stay close to the story of the video game, which centers on a bartender who is captured by a secret corporation with ties to the Knights Templar, and learns his ancestors were trained assassins. He's sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.

This is such a great game, and I really hope they will be able to pull off the epic film adaptation that it deserves.

2015 is going to be an epic year for movies as we've also got Star Wars: Episode VII, The Avengers 2, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, and Ant-Man to look forward to.

Here's a beautifully made short sci-fi film called Expo that tells the touching story of a mother who works on the Moon trying to earn money to save her daughter. The movie was directed by Joe Sill from a script written by Dag Shapshak

The film was shot incredibly well, and the visual effects were clean and solid. I like that it tells a solid human tale in a fantastic and intense sci-fi setting. Here's the synopsis:

Female astro-miner Shona has been mining under dangerous conditions on the moon for the past two years in order to pay for expensive medical treatments in hopes of save her bed-ridden daughter Darla, and now that her tour is completed, a younger astronaut Paige has come to replace her. Shona is reluctant to return to the world she once knew, but in meeting Paige realizes that returning to Earth isn’t where she’ll find peace - she will have to return home.

Enjoy the show!

KINGDOM COME - Trailer for Fan-Made Adaptation

Here's a trailer for a fan-made adaptation of Alex Ross and Mark Waid's graphic novel Kingdom Come. It's a pretty ambitious undertaking, but I think they did a pretty good job, especially if you take into consideration that it's very low budget. They did their best with what they had to work with.

Kingdom Come is an epic story that pits the old guard - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and their allies - against a new, uncompromising generation of heroes. If you haven't read the graphic novel yet, you should.

The trailer was developed by AListProductions. Here's a note that came along with the video:

We raised money via indiegogo in the earlier stages to cover important costs in creating this huge project into live action. This is designed for entertainment purposes only and to show the potential for not only Kingdom Come but other untapped novel's under DC Comic's belt. Last, we highly suggest reading the Kingdom Come graphic novel before viewing!

Enjoy the trailer.

DOCTOR WHO Season 8 Confirmed!

I don't imagine Doctor Who going away anytime soon, the show is just too awesome to go off the air. BBC has announced that it will get an eighth modern season, that it will air in 2014, and that Steven Moffat will be returning as the lead writer and executive producer. As far as returning cast members go though, that probably won't be revealed until after the show's 50th anniversary special, set to air November 23rd. The network said the Moffat “is already plotting a brand new run of adventures for the Doctor.”

As you know there's been a lot of talk about Peter Jackson directing an episode of Doctor Who, and if it happens, It will probably happen in season 8! I hope they bring Jackson on to do one!

Captain America: The Winter Solider is currently shooting in Cleveland OH, and we've got some photos and video from the set. They feature Samuel L. Jackson's stunt double as Nick Fury, and as you'll see, he's facing off against the Washington D.C. Police Department and SWAT team. The video even features them firing on the car that he's supposed to be in! He's also sporting an updated look.

Jackson himself is on the set sitting inside one of the black government vehicle that's pinned between the police cars. The SWAT team and police were rushing to stop him for unknown reasons and slowly approached the black SUV with machine guns. Apparently, they want to take him out. Don't worry, there are no spoilers here, Spider-Man wasn't cloned in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It's just multiple Spider-Men hanging all over The Rhino's truck as they are rehearsing a scene. I imagine Andrew Garfield is among the stunt doubles, but which one is he?

Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

New AFTER EARTH Film Clip - "Bird Fight"

$

I'm not sure why this new clip from After Earth is called "Bird Fight," because it's more like a tiger fight. The clip features Jaden Smith trying to fight off a group of tigers that are attacking a giant bird nest. The character is on a mission to retrieve a beacon from the ship so they can return home.

I've got to say, the CGI in the clip is pretty poor, but maybe it's not finished yet. I liked the trailers for the film, but the clips I've seen from it aren't doing a good job of selling me on it. They are just proving to me that this is going to be yet another flat and monotone M. Night Shyamalan movie, and that's a shame.

The movie comes out on June 7th, 2013. Watch the clip for yourself and tell us what you think. I've also included a behind the scenes video as well.

A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.

In my opinion, this is the best trailer yet for The Wolverine. I've loved everything I've seen from the movie so far, and I hope that the movie lives up to my expectations. The trailer is full of new footage, some of which is awesomely action-packed.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

First Look at The Joker and More in BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS

Yesterday, we brought you an incredibly rad 5-minute trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins, which showcased an action-packed fight between Batman and Deathstroke. Today, we bring you a few new screenshots from the game, one of which features our first look at The Joker. Unfortunately, he's no longer voiced by Mark HamillKevin Conroy won't be back either, but he's been working on the next Arkham game being developed.

The images come from Hero Complex, and there were a couple other new details revealed about the game. Senior producer on the game, Ben Mattes, talked to them about the game explaining that...

...they follow the same core mechanics. You digitally re-create the crime scene, you identify the clues, you scan in the clues, which allows your cowl and bat computer to digitally recreate the events as they took place. You scrub through those events in order to find the key piece of information, in which you have to do that fast-forwarding and rewinding in order to understand how a piece of evidence went from one place to another. Then you need to go over there to scan the next piece of evidence in. It’s not just follow the bread crumbs.

He then reveals that even though Origins takes place several years before the previous Arkham games, there's a five year span between Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. That leaves plenty of room to explore in the future.

There’s five years between ‘Arkham Origins’ and ‘Arkham Asylum,'There’s a long arc where we can explore why this gadget doesn’t exist here or there. We feel that was the right choice. We’re ensuring players have the empowering Batman game play they’re looking for with lots of opportunities to solve those narrative challenges along the way.

Here are more details on the story:

The premise that we set up we believe is simple to understand and very accessible. Black Mask has hired the eight most deadly assassins to kill Batman on Christmas Eve. Everyone gets that. Everyone gets the pressure that puts on you, the player, to survive. But this formative night in Batman’s career becomes so much more than just the assassins. There are other members of the rogue’s gallery who are taking advantage of this opportunity and putting their own nefarious actions into place.

Like the other games, this one is sure to be a blast to play. Make sure to head on over to Hero Complex to read the rest of the interview. There's some other stuff there that you might find interesting.

Is CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Based on NICK FURY VS. S.H.I.E.L.D.?

$

0

There have been a lot of set photos leaking out for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I don't know if you've noticed or not, but the movie seems to have a lot more to do with S.H.I.E.L.D. than is does The Winter Soldier. Marvel President Kevin Feige has described the film as being more of a "political thriller." CBM have been putting the pieces together, and it seems the movie is going to be more based on the 1988 comic book series Nick Fury Vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.!

The site came up with six really solid convincing clues that help back up their claim. It was enough to convince me. The clues include details on Callan Mulvey being cast as Jack Rollins, Robert Redford's character Alexander Pierce, and a few other things including the major shootout with Fury that we posted a video of earlier today.

We are now going to enter possible SPOILER territory for those of you not familiar with the comics. Some of the information is comic related, other parts of it are speculation. After piecing all of the clues together, this is what the site came up with.

At the very beginning of Nick Fury vs S.H.I.E.L.D., Fury and his espionage cohorts are given a sound defeat in one of their operations. In the opening skirmish, Fury's right hand man Clay Quartermain dies in the crossfire. Fury initially suspects either A.I.M. or Hydra but as the story unfolds it is revealed that the threat is actually from within, from the very top of S.H.I.E.L.D. command. Not only have The Deltites infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. command, they've been there for years. They've also infiltrated the government and every major corporation in the world and no one was the wiser. How? What exactly are Deltites? They're derivatives of "The Deltite", an advanced, Life Model Decoy (LMD) created by Arnim Zola who became sentient. "The Deltite" infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. and tinkered with their LMD's to create others "Deltites." The sci-fi element gets cranked up another notch as "The Deltite" has created a process that allows for the memories of humans (dead or alive) to be transformed into their LMD/Deltite dopplegangers. Over the years, this process has been refined an enhanced to create more and more life-like Deltites. In the miniseries, the deceased Clay Quartermain is used as the latest test subject in the most advanced Deltite-conversion process to date. It's a smashing success, in fact, it works too well and the Quartermain-Deltite thinks he's the real Quartermain. While Quartermain is a central figure in the miniseries, obviously, there's no Quartermain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (looking at you Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). But there is a Winter Soldier, don't be surprised if Bucky turns out to be a super advanced Deltite that thinks he's the real Bucky. At the end of the conflict, it's the Quartermain-Deltite that switches sides and helps S.H.I.E.L.D. eek out a victory; such a turn by the Winter Soldier would be a good segue into The Avengers 2.

While Fury is on the run, his small contingent of faithful operatives are left to decide whether they are "good soldiers" and follow orders without question or if they should believe in Nick Fury. In the miniseries that's "Gaffer", Contessa Valentina, Jimmy Woo, Dum-Dum Doogan and a few others. However, in Captain America: The Winter Solider I'm guessing it will be Cap, Black Widow and Falcon having to decide whether they hunt Fury down or join him in his rebellion.

I don't know about you, but it makes sense to me. This could easily be one part of a two-part story. One focusing on Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., the other part focusing on Captain America dealing with his adjustment issues, and his team.

Do you think the movie is being based on Nick Fury Vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.?
