24 Coming Back to TV with Kiefer Sutherland in Talks to Return!

You know what would be better than a two hour 24 movie? Another season of 24! That's right! FOX is looking to bring 24 back as a limited series, and Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to reprise his role as Jack Bauer! As a huge fan of the series, I can't express how excited I am to see this happen.

Since the series ended its eight season run in 2010, they've been trying to get a big screen movie into production. It looked like it was getting pretty close a couple of times, but it never made it into production though.

According to the report, the idea for another 24 chapter on TV came from longtime 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, who is now an executive producer on Showtime’s Homeland. The plan for the series is to start from scratch with a new story arc.

Would you rather see this series return to TV, or a movie get made? You already know what I think.

Teaser Trailer for George Clooney's Space Epic GRAVITY

After years of hearing about this sci-fi space adventure Gravity, the first teaser trailer for it is finally here! It looks like it was worth the wait. The Alfonso Cuaron-directed film stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock as astronauts who embark on a space mission that goes terribly wrong. I won't lie... this looks like a terrifying situation!

Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothingbut each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

The movie comes out on October 4th, 2013.

Hulk Featured in First AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Promo

According to IGN, ABC has officially picked up Marvel's TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is set to premiere this fall. We've also got a viral type promo video for the series to show you that features The Hulk wreaking havoc! It's very short, but it's something! It is safe to assume that the aftermath of this destruction is something that S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to have to deal with.

The series was co-written by Joss WhedonJed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss also directed the first episode, which I'm sure will turn out amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing what this team of talented individuals came up with.

Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D. He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to tackle the cases that haven’t been classified yet, the new, the strange and the unknown. That team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen); and brilliant if socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They’ll be joined by civilian new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual – of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.

Check out the promo viral teaser clip! You'll notice a little "Rising Tide" badge on the video. Not sure what's that about. Any theories?

First Look at NINJA TURTLES and Foot Clan on the Set of TMNT

This is our first look at the Ninja Turtles and the Foot Clan in the Jonathan Liebesman-directed adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Of course, this is just the pre-CGI look of the turtles who are being played by Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, and Alan Ritchson as Raphael (not pictured). It looks to me like three of the turtles have been kidnapped by the clan. Hopefully Raphael is coming to the rescue.

If you missed the first photos of Megan Fox as April O'Neil, click here. The movie also stars Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and Danny Woodburn as Master Splinter.

The movie comes out in theaters on June 6th, 2014.

Every superhero movie needs a calendar! My question is... who even buys calendars anymore? Anyway, Man of Steel has a couple calendars being released, and they feature some new images from the film. A few of those images have surfaced online, so check them out! Click them to enlarge so that you can get a better look at some of the photos from other months.

Edgar Wright recently tweeted out a photo of himself on the set of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, and confirmed that he directed a scene in the movie saying,

There are 2120 shots in 'Star Trek Into Darkness'. I directed one of them. Looking forward to seeing the other 2119.

The photo looks like the scene he shot takes place on the Klingon home planet, Kronos... in IMAX. I guess it's good for any filmmaker these days to get experience with these IMAX cameras as we're starting to see more and more movies shot in the format.

Matt Reeves' Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in now in production and FOX has released a familiar looking logo from the film. I'm hoping this ends up being just as good as the first one was. We'll soon see if Reeves, who also directed Let Me In and Cloverfield, can pull it off.

The movie stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises), Keri Russell (Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (Wrath of the Titans), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In), Enrique Murciano (Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line), and Judy Greer (The Descendants).

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

The movie will be released on May 23rd, 2014.

Zoe Saldana Discusses GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

It will be a couple of years before we see Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy up on the big screen. Leading up to its released we're going to hear a lot of people talking about it and see a lot of stuff from the production to hype it up. I think this movie needs a little hype, it's not really a popular comic property, but it will be.

In a recent interview with MTV, Zoe Saldana talked a little bit more about the movie and her character Gamora. The reason Saldana is the only one really talking about the movie right now is because she's front and center doing press for Star Trek Into Darkness, and this is apparently what the press likes to ask her about.

It feels unique, but it doesn't feel like it hasn't been done before. I love the levity in the script and I like the casting of it. I've been a fan of Chris Pratt and I think that his gifted, natural comedic timing might come in handy to play someone like Star-Lord.

When asked about her costume, Saldana said,

I'm in the process right now of the evolution of conceiving Gamora's look. It's exciting! We're trying to work out comfort also, because you know that I definitely want to be involved in the stunt-doing of my character.

The James Gunn-directed film also stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, and Lee Pace. To read up on all of our Guardians of the Galaxy news click here.

The movie is scheduled to start shooting in June, and it's set to be released on August 1st, 2014.

Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), and Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby) have all been cast in the upcoming U.K. sci-fi film called Our Robot Overlords

Jon Wright (Grabbers) is directing the film, the story of which "centers on a teen (McAuliffe) who gathers a group of teens together to search for his long lost father in the midst of a war between humans and robots. The teen discovers a way to fight back and he realizes that there’s more to this war than his own family."

It sounds like it could end up being a cool movie. It starts shooting on June 3rd with a budget of $21 million. I'm curious to see how it ends up turning out.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the first clip from their new animated adventure LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite. The clip gives us our first-look at the Batcave and a little interaction between Bruce Wayne/Batman and Martian Manhunter, who reaches out from the Justice League Watchtower.

The story "finds Lex Luthor taking jealousy to new heights when fellow billionaire Bruce Wayne wins the Man of the Year Award. To top Wayne’s accomplishment, Lex begins a campaign for President – and to create the atmosphere for his type of fear-based politics, he recruits the Joker to perfect a Black LEGO Destructor Ray. While wreaking havoc on Gotham, Lex successfully destroys Batman's technology – forcing the Caped Crusader to reluctantly turn to Superman for help."

The film is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 21st! I've also included a few new photos that were also released. This actually looks like it could be a really entertaining movie.

J.J. Abrams on STAR WARS Spinoff Films

Disney and Lucasfilm have already confirmed that we will be seeing at least one new Star Wars movie every summer after Star Wars: Episode VII is released. While J.J. Abrams is working on that film, Disney has several other people developing the rest of the trilogy including the spinoff films that everyone is excited about.

Abrams recently did an interview with MTV in which he discussed these spinoff movies, and one of the interesting things he suggests is that the success of the next installment will allow all the other movies to be made. When asked if he was involved with the spinoff movies, this was his response,

We're focusing right now on this because this movie feels like this is the one that has to work for anything else to work.

There are discussions about what would happen later and how to make this thing and to tell [the] story, you can't look at it in a binary way. It's obviously part of something much greater. To talk about those off-shoot films, that's something [you] have to talk about with Kathleen Kennedy.

So basically, he's not involved with the spinoff films directly, but he's the one that's going to set the stage for them. I'm sure Star Wars: Episode VII is going to turn out incredible, and that it's going to be a huge hit. All of these Star Wars movies that we want to see happen are going to happen!

We've got a couple more things for you to check out for Star Trek Into Darkness! First, there's a new featurette that focuses on Dr. "Bones" McCoy played by Karl Urban. Then we have a clip from the film featured on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that centers on Spock preparing to jump into a volcano. Both videos include new footage from the film, so if you're looking forward to the movie, then I suggest you check them out! The movie itself hits theaters next week on May 16th!

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Is This Our First Look at Smaug the Dragon from THE HOBBIT?

At the very end of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Peter Jackson teased our first look at Smaug the Dragon. This sculpture that was recently erected in the foyer of a cinema in Wellington New Zealand could very will be our first full look at the dragon that we will see in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Apparently, this space is usually reserved for the statue placement of characters from the films of Jackson, such as TinTin, Gandalf, Gollum, etc. Here's a note from The One Ring...

So, we went to the new Star Trek movie last night at Roxy Cinema here in Miramar, Wellington and when we came out a statue was sitting in the middle of the foyer which either we missed or was put there during the movie. Not saying it’s Smaug or anything, but I took a picture for you to make your own mind up about it! The statue placement is usually reserved for statues of characters from PJ films.

I personally think it very well could be Smaug. Sure you could compare the eyes of the statue from the eye we saw in the movie, but the site makes a good point by saying, "the fact that this statue is existing for all of the public to see right now in Wellington, makes it highly unlikely this is the real thing. That would just be crazy!" But would it really be that crazy? I'll let you decide.

Regardless of whether it's the actual design we'll see in the movie or not, it's definitely a statue of Smaug.

3 Directors up for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

Walt Disney Pictures, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Johnny Depp are ready to move forward with Pirates of the Caribbean 5 now that The Lone Ranger has been completed. The are currently in the process of hiring a director to take on the project.

A new report from Deadline reveals a short list of three directors who are up for the gig. Those directors include: Fredrik Bond (The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman), Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), and Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman). I guess that's four names technically, but one of them is a directing team.

The report says that the Kon-Tiki guys are the names coming up the most, but obviously at this point no offer has been made to any of them. I haven't seen Kon-Tiki yet, but it looks like a great movie. I think its directors could do great things with the Pirates franchise. Sanders is the only director I really know about in this group, he's a talented visual director, but for anyone that saw Snow White And The Huntsman, you know he's not very good with directing actors or storytelling.

Which of the directors named here would you like to see take on the fifth PIRATES movie?

Adult Swim has officially announced that Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special Part II is on its way! I'm sure many of you have already seen the first DC Comics special that was released last year, which I thought was hilarious. I figured they would do another one, and I'm happy that it has officially been announced. I'm sure they've got some funny stuff planned for us.

I've been a fan of Robot Chicken since it started, and I love how it always entertains. It never gets old! I hope the series doesn't go away anytime soon. I assume now that Disney own Lucasfilm and Star Wars the show won't feature any more Star Wars skits from here on out. It would be sad if that's the case.

Here's the announcement from the press release:

ROBOT CHICKEN DC COMICS SPECIAL II– Faster than a speeding bullet! Well, maybe not but quality takes time. Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, in partnership with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, will premiere a sequel to their acclaimed Annie Award-winning Robot Chicken DC Comics Special in 2014. Robot Chicken DC Comics Special II brings you the awesomeness of the DC Comics universe of characters as only Robot Chicken can, with amazing guest stars and the stop-motion sketch comedy you’ve come to love after six seasons of the popular Adult Swim series. Here's a video of something I bet you never thought you would see! A dance group got together a created a Pokémon Ballet that they performed for an audience. The ballet is a 30-minutes long, and I think it turned out alright. I don't watch ballet, but if you're one of the few that love ballet and Pokémon then this is sure to be one of the greatest things you've ever seen. Even if you're not, you still might find it entertaining. I wonder how many more geek themed ballets we're going to see after this.

Saoirse Ronan up for Scarlet Witch Role in AVENGERS 2?

$

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Joss Whedon was looking to include Marvel characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2. These are just two of several new superheroes that he will be adding to the team. Whedon is still working on the script, and I seriously doubt that they have reached out to any actors for these roles yet, but according to a recent report at SuperHeroHype, Irish actress Saoirse Ronan (The Host) is being used as Marvels "prototype" for Scarlet Witch. Here's what they had to say...

Although Joss is still writing and probably not ready to send anything out to actors, for the two roles, they're generally looking for actors in their 20s and we've heard word that the "prototype" for their Scarlet Witch is none other than Irish actress Saoirse Ronan. Except something to note is that they're going "British" for the role rather than trying to have actors playing Eastern Europeans.

This doesn't mean that she's going to end up playing Scarlet Witch. It just means she is their inspiration behind how the character is being written and how the character will look. If this is really the case, it would make sense for the studio to eventually offer her the role when they are ready. Ronan will be about 20 years old by the time this movie goes into production. She's a solid young actress who has proved she can kick ass, so she might be a good choice in the role. As for her brother Quicksilver, the report says he is been described as being "euro" and "edgy" in the movie.

It makes a lot of sense to bring these characters into The Avengers team. After all, they joined the team way back in 1965, and Scarlet Witch has been very strong part of the team ever since.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Ronan playing Scarlet Witch? Do you think she fits the part? Who else would you like to see in the role?
