Awesome Trailer for Michael Bay's New Series THE LAST SHIP

TNT has ordered up ten episodes of Michael Bay's new post-apocalyptic action drama series called The Last Ship, and it looks awesome! The network released a trailer for it that you've got to check out. I was actually really surprised by how good it looks.

The series follows the fallout of a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Among the few survivors are the crew of the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James, which is now summoned by a new President of the United States to do whatever possible to abate the crisis.

Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy) stars as Captain Tom Chandler, a career Navy man who lords over the Nathan James, while Tracy Middendorf (Boardwalk Empire) plays his wife Darien. Adam Baldwin (Chuck) plays Slattery, the ship’s second-in-command who occasionally clashes with  Chandler over the best course of action, and Rhona Mitra(Strike Back) is Rachel Scott, a strong-willed paleomicrobiologist assigned to the Nathan James to investigate what caused of billions of deaths worldwide.

The series is also being produced by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) and Andrew Form. This looks like it has the potential to be a big hit for TNT. I'm looking forward to checking it out! Here's the trailer!

Adam Scott Set to Star in HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2

Earlier this year, it was announced that MGM would be developing a sequel to the 2010 time-travel comedy Hot Tub Time Machine. It's being reported that John Cusack will not be reprising his role in the film, and that Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott is in talks to take on the lead role in the story.

Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry, and Clark Duke are all expected to reprise their roles, and Steve Pink will be back to direct it. As for Scott, he will be taking on the part of an all-new character created for the sequel. I'm sure he'll make a great addition to the cast.

I enjoyed the first movie. It paid great tribute to the classic teen comedies of the 1980s. The original film followed four men who use a magical hot tub to travel back in time to a fateful night from their teenage years in the '80s. It will be interesting to see what they end up doing with the sequel.

JURASSIC PARK 4 Put on Hold

There's something weird going on over at Universal Pictures regarding Jurassic Park 4. The film was suppose to be moving into production soon, but it's been put on hold. A couple tweets went out from a couple of the production crew last night. One that said "Jp4 on hold" and the other, "Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4". That doesn't really sound very promising, does it? The tweets have since been deleted, but here is a couple of screenshots.

It doesn't sound like the movie has been completely cancelled, but the studio is obviously trying to figure out what to do with it. According to the website Jurassicpark4, a "reliable source" has revealed the reason for all this craziness.

Apparently, the studio is in conflict with some of the people involved with the film's development, so they are restructuring some things. The site says that the film is still in production; Colin Trevorrow is still attached to direct, but that there is going to be a "restructuring of the guard". They added that the film will "deliver on an EPIC scale. It is this 'EPIC' demand by the studio however, which has lead to the current situation. It seems Universal wants to pull out all the stops and go above and beyond what they had initially set their goals to be. This has lead to a number of disagreements between those working on the project and the Studio, which has resulted in an overhaul within the film's production crew. No specifics however."

As for the people that sent out the tweets, they were actually let go along with 80% of the art department. They also confirm that the script for the movie is not an issue. Apparently the script is fine, it's just problems that have come from the film's developmental core.

I'm just happy to hear that the movie isn't dead! I'm looking forward to this! Chances are thought the movie wont make the June 13th, 2014 release date. That's ok though, I can wait a little longer.

Surprise Cameo Revealed in THE WOLVERINE?

While Hugh Jackman has been shooting X-Men: Days of Future Past, he's also been doing some reshoots for The Wolverine. Apparently, they also shot a post-credits scene with a surprise cameo that will set up an "inbetweequel" which could very well be used to connect The Wolverine with Days of Future Past.

If you don't want the cameo SPOILED for you, I suggest you stop reading now.

The news comes from Joblo, who said that the additional scenes being shot in Montreal include a surprise appearance from Professor X interacting with Wolverine. Their sources tell them that it took place at an airport and sounds "like it appears at the end of the movie, possibly when Wolverine returns from Japan." Here's a description of the scene that was filmed,

So according to our source, the airport scene involves Wolverine....and Professor X. The new scene has the two of them walking into the airport and then going into a freeze frame. The source goes on to say that while things could always change, this is what he/she witnessed and was told on the set of the re-shoot.

As you know Brett Ratner killed off Professor X in The Last Stand, and the movie takes place after that. It's still unclear how Patrick Stewart will appear in both this and X-Men: Days of Future Past, but I'm sure they'll figure it out. Along with the time travel aspect of the next film, Xavier's psychic powers can be used to fix a lot of things. There's always the whole transferring of conscious thing. Whatever it ends up being, I doubt it will be explained in The Wolverine

Robert Redford Spoils His CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Role

During a recent interview, Robert Redford revealed a big spoiler regarding his S.H.I.E.L.D. character Alexander Pierce in Captain America: The Winter Solider. It's actually pretty surprising. Before I get to the spoiler stuff though Anthony Mackie offered a few more details on his role as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon, in the movie saying,

Sam's very involved. I'm in about 60 percent of the movie. Captain America, the Black Widow and The Falcon take down the Winter Solider together, and they solve the crime at hand and take down the Winter Soldier. So this movie, if you look at the cast, with everybody in (the fictional crime-fighting group) S.H.I.E.L.D. and (co-stars Robert) Redford and Sam Jackson and everybody who's in the movie, it's kind of turning into 'The Avengers Part 2' because the cast is so big.

Now, on to the Robert Redford reveal. If you don't want to know what it is, then don't read any further. Like I said, it's a big reveal if it turns out to be true.

So this is what he had to say in a profile piece by entertainment journalist Will Lawrence, published in a recent edition of The Straits Times’ Life! section. When asked about his character this was his response...

I like the idea of playing a villain… I did that just because it’s a different thing for me to do.

So there could be a major plot twist in the film that reveals his character is actually a villain, which is pretty damn cool. I could see Redford playing a bitter old villain in a comic book movie, and it actually make more sense now why they cast such a big name actor for the role.

This hasn't been confirmed, but what do you think of the possibility of Redford playing a villain in this movie?

Asa Butterfield Assures Fans About Pivotal Scenes in ENDER'S GAME

Asa Butterfield recently did an AMA on Reddit, and while he couldn't talk too much about the film, he answered some important questions I know I had about the upcoming film Ender's Game. Fans of the series I'm sure are curious about the tone of the film as well as how the studio is going to tackle the whole "Stilson & Bonzo" incidents, and in my opinion one of the most important points in terms of Ender's development in the story. While not exactly candid about the scenes, Butterfield did offer some reassurance to fans.
It's kind of a cop out answer, but it is worth noting that the character Stilson is indeed cast for the film when he could have just as easily been written out having been introduced so early in the novel. Like author Orson Scott Card said awhile back in his letter to us, Butterfield once again warned us not to expect a 100% direct adaptation of the book for the film.
So I know the books been out for about 20+ years, but at the risk of spoilers I don't want to come out and say it. Do you think the Stilson and Bonzo incidents will be presented as in the book? Part of me really wants to believe it will happen, but the skeptic just screams Hollywood will shaft us.

Joe Johnston Set to Direct GOTTI Biopic

It looks like John Travolta's John Gotti mobster biopic is back in action! Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston has jumped on board to helm the film.

Marc Fiore of Fiore Films is producing the movie based on a story by John Gotti Jr, who chose to turn his back on the mob code he grew up around.  The film will follow his relationship with his father. This is the first time a member of the Gotti family has agreed to tell their story on the big screen.

The movie was written by Leo Rossi and is reportedly a "tell-all" story. Fiore previously called the film “the new Godfather,” saying “it’s a story about a father and a son, but the father happens to be John Gotti Sr.”

Travolta will portray the mobster in the film, and this is what he had to say in a statement,

I'm looking forward to portraying John Gotti -- it's been a long time coming. And I think that Johnson is an exciting and fresh addition to the vision of the film. We are all looking forward to starting production.

Johnston is a talented director. I've enjoyed most of the films he's made in his career, and I think he's going to do a great job with this one. Here's what he had to say about the project:

I think we’ve always been fascinated with the idea of the romantic outlaw. John Gotti could be in one instance a charismatic, kind and loving family man, and in another, deadly to his enemies. The opportunity to tell the true story of Gotti with John Travolta is a director’s dream.

Johnston is set to start filming the movie in New York on September 9th.

First Look at Megan Fox as April O'Neil in NINJA TURTLES

Here's our first look at Megan Fox as April O'Neil in Jonathan Liebesman‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox is currently shooting the film in New York City as a reporter for Channel 6 News. She's not wearing the classic yellow jumpsuit, and I doubt we'll see that in the movie. She does have a yellow jacket though. You can also see her jumping around on a trampoline and sporting green nail polish. Will Arnett was also spotted on the set of the film. It hasn't been officially revealed whom he's playing in the movie, but it looks to me like he'll be O'Neil's cameraman Vernon Fenwick.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - Official Plot Synopsis

$

20th Century Fox has released an official plot synopsis for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in a press release announcing that production on the film has begun. It also confirms the full cast. The first film was great, and hopefully director Matt Reeves can deliver a decent sequel. The story they are telling is a step in the right direction.

Twentieth Century Fox announced that principal photography is underway on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

Andy Serkis, celebrated for his performance in the last film, reprises his role as Caesar. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes also stars Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30).

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In). The producers are Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Oblivion), Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Tom Hammel (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is executive producing.

Oscar®-winning visual effects house WETA Digital – employing a new generation of the cutting edge performance capture technologies developed for Rise of the Apes and Avatar – will again render photo-realistic, emotionally-engaging apes. The film’s key behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Michael Seresin, production designer James Chinland, and VFX Supervisors Joe Letteri and Dan Lemmon, VFX producers Ryan Stafford, editor Bill Hoy and Stan Salfas, and costume designer Melissa Brunning.

Twentieth Century Fox will release Dawn of the Planet of the Apes worldwide on Memorial Day weekend, May 23, 2014. Rise of the Planet of the Apes opened theatrically during the summer of 2011, grossed nearly half a billion dollars worldwide.

Green Lantern Could Appear in ARROW

There's been a lot of great DC Comics cameos in The CW's Arrow series, but it seems like the best is yet to come. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently talked to TV Guide, and he explains that the stage is being set for a potential cameo from Green Lantern!

If all goes according to plan, when you see the Ferris Air logo later in the season, it will be the same logo that we established in the movie. I like tips of the hat.

Guggenheim goes on to admits that the world of Arrow doesn't take place in the same universe as the Green Lantern film, but, he also doesn't rule out the possibility of including Hal Jordan or Carol Ferris, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively in the film.

I would never say never. It's certainly something that we've talked about.

As with all DC characters, we have to figure out a way for those characters to fit within our Arrow universe. But when you consider the importance that Hal Jordan plays in the Green Arrow comics, it's certainly one of those names that we've discussed a great deal. I have Ryan Reynolds' phone number around here somewhere.

He does seem pretty confident that this is something they will eventually pull the trigger on. It would be cool to see! I'd love to see Green Lantern show up in Arrow, and he doesn't have to be played by Reynolds to make me happy. I'd just like to see the character introduced into this world. It would be so cool to see them team up, so I hope they make this happen!

New Details Revealed for Henry Cavill's Superman Suit

Do you remember the first time you saw Henry Cavill wearing his Superman suit from Man of Steel? There were a lot of mixed reactions, but over time it seems like fans have come to like it. Actor Mackenzie Gray, who plays a top secret role in the film, talked to JTM Games recently and gives us a little more insight on the suit Cavill is wearing:

Oh yeah, amount of detail on Superman is unbelievable. Superman’s costume, is a three-layer costume; there’s a body-skin layer and then there’s a muscle layer that was molded to Henry’s muscles – it’s a silver, metallic rubber – and then over that is a mesh skin so whenever he turns into light it looks like he’s made of steel....It’s just incredible, the design of the film is fantastic. All the concepts and the designs is just remarkable and they didn’t have to build fake muscles for Henry because he’s really built.

I can't help but think that costume is uncomfortable to wear. It seems like it would feel claustrophobic, but it sure looks cool!

A red-band trailer has been released for the Coen Brothers' new film Inside Llewyn Davis, which stars Oscar Isaac as Llewyn Davis, a struggling folk singer trying to make it as a musician, traveling the country during the genre's 1960s heyday in New York City.

The movie also stars Isaac's Drive co-star Carey Mulligan as the love interest in the story, along with Justin Timberlake, and John Goodman. It's set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival, and it looks like another superb Coen Brothers movie. Inside Llewyn Davis will be released for the rest of us on December 6th.

The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer for the Lee Daniels-directed film The Butler, which stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Liam Neeson, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda, Robin Williams, James Marsden, Aml Ameen, and Liev Schreiber.

The film was "inspired by Wil Haygood’s Washington Post article about an African-American man who served as a butler (Whitaker) to eight Presidents in the White House for over thirty years. From this unique vantage point, the film traces the dramatic changes that swept American society, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affected this man’s life and family."

The Butler comes out on October 18th, 2013, and it looks like a great film that tells an inspiring story.
