Jackie Chan's Ten Worst On-Set Injuries Show How Tough He Is

It's incredible; the lengths Jackie Chan will go through just to complete a movie. Considering most this footage is from his younger years, it's a wonder Chan has made it this far in his career! Falling from 3 stories up? Getting hit by a helicopter? Getting life threateningly injured after filming a scene and then going back and doing it again only to get injured more? It's all in the video below, which is set to a song sung by Chan himself.

Jason Statham Confirmed for FAST AND FURIOUS 7

A couple of months ago, it was rumored that Jason Statham was going to play the main bad guy in Fast and Furious 7, which I thought would be amazing. Today, we have confirmation of that news thanks to Michelle Rodriguez! In a recent interview with Desde Hollywood, she was asked if Statham would be in the movie, and this was her reply,

Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, when you see these guys in a room you know they belong together [...] You can see in their eyes that they have gone through a lot [...] I applaud Universal for getting him on-board!

The previous rumor said that he would play Ian Shaw, the brother of Luke Evans’ character in the upcoming sixth film, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

I've always thought Statham would fit in perfectly with this franchise. I'm excited that it's going to happen. You've got to admit, it will be fun watching him kick Walker, Johnson, and Deisel's asses!

Jedi Younglings Make Their Own STAR WARS Fan Film

Here's a cute, adventurous Star Wars: Episode VII fan film made by a group of Jedi Younglings that must have escaped Anakin Skywalker's child killing spree.

With fresh excitement over the making of a new Star Wars movie, three children (and some, ahem, adults) set out to make a trailer for a possible Episode 7. Shooting in beautiful Los Angeles including famous Vasquez Rocks and supplementing with VFX and sounds inspired by Star Wars, this short teaser asks the question what a galaxy far, far away be like with Junior Jedi protecting it.

For a film made by kids, it turned out pretty fun. Check it out!

Trailer for the Teen Horror Film BENEATH

Here's the trailer for a new horror thriller called Beneath which tells the story of a bloodthirsty underwater predator which "leaves a group of teens trapped on a leaking boat in the middle of a lake, the friends must choose between loyalty and survival in this monstrous morality tale." It may not look like the greatest movie in the world, but I had to post it because it's just a stupidly funny concept for a horror movie. I mean seriously... it's a group of teens trapped in a canoe being attacked by a monster! On top of that, there's some good old fashioned teen drama. I couldn't help but laugh at this trailer.

The movie was directed Larry Fessenden (Wendigo, The Last Winter), and it stars Danny Zovatto, Bonnie Dennison, Chris Conroy, Jonny Orsini, Griffin Newman, and Mackenzie Rosman. Check out the trailer!

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Film Rights Land at Warner Bros.

$

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the epic role playing fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons! Apparently, the studio is already far along in the development process. According to the report, they will be using a script written by David Leslie Johnson. That script is called Chainmail, and was acquired last year "as a free-standing project, based on an obscure game that was also hatched by D&D designer Gary Gygax before he and Dave Arneson launched D&D." That script will be "retro-fitted to fit the much bigger game creation."

There's no word on if Johnson will be developing the film any further, but I hope not. The fact that they are using one of his scripts is a little concerning though because he's the guy that wrote the films Wrath of the Titans and Red Hiding Hood -- both of which had terrible scripts. So it's hard to think that what he does for Dungeons & Dragons could be any better. There was a D&D film made back in 2000 that starred Jeremy Irons. I never saw it though because it looked like crap. Hopefully this one doesn't turn out as bad.

This is a priority for the studio, and they are already going out to filmmakers. Hopefully they get a good one on board to steer this thing in the right direction. There's a ton of potential here, and if done right it could be incredible. Fantasy adventure films are popular right now, and they are only going to get bigger if the studios let them. Some of the big fantasy franchises right now include the Hobbit films, HBO's Game of Thrones series, and then there's a World of Warcraft being made by Duncan Jones.

Are you excited to hear that Warner Bros. will be the studio bringing you a Dungeons & Dragons movie?

Robert Downey Jr. in Talks for AVENGERS 2 and 3

So there's a lot of drama going on at Marvel right now between the studio and the actors. A lot of the actors aren't happy with the way they are being treated by Marvel. There's a revealing article about it over on Deadline that you should check out. Even amongst all the craziness, Robert Downey Jr. is still looking to reprise his role as Tony Stark. According to THR, he's currently in negotiations with the studio to come back for The Avengers 2 and 3, but not for a fourth Iron Man movie. Here's what they are reporting...

Sources close to the dealmaking say Downey has entered negotiations to reprise his role in Marvel’s The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3, the first of which has a May 1, 2015, release date and will cap what is known as Phase 2 of the Marvel movies in the same way 2012’s Avengers culminated the first Marvel wave that began with 2008’s Iron Man. Avengers 3 has no release date and probably will not hit screens at least until the end of Phase 3, in 2017. But sources say Iron Man 4 has not been part of the discussions, and it’s unclear whether Downey, 48, wants to return for another stand-alone sequel.

An analyst suggests that Marvel Studios could lose out on as much as 9 % of their earnings in the near future without Robert Downey Jr. The report goes on to say, "It would be a definite negative for that particular franchise. He is Tony Stark. The other individual franchises -- Thor, Captain America, Hulk -- etc., don’t have near the level of box-office potential that Iron Man does. The other way to look at it is that Iron Man would probably look more like those other franchises in terms of box-office performance without Downey." I have to agree with all of that. Sure Marvel could replace him, but let's face it... Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark.

The report then adds that the studio has scripts in place for Blade, Ms. Marvel, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther, and The Runaways. So that should give us a look at what we have coming to us in Phase 3 and 4 of Marvel's plan.

I'm curious to see how this all works out, not only with Robert Downey Jr., but with the rest of the actors that have contracts with Marvel. The studio is eventually going to start replacing these actors, and it's going to be interesting to see what the fans' reactions are going to be when they start doing it. One thing is certain: it's in Marvel's best interest to keep Downey Jr. around for as long as they can.

Do you think Marvel movie excitement is going to die down if the studio has to replace him?

Red-Band Trailer for the Viking Film HAMMER OF THE GODS

Magnet Releasing has unveiled an intense red-band trailer for their upcoming Viking film Hammer of the Gods. The story for the film follows a passionate young man who transforms into a brutal warrior as he travels the unforgiving landscape in search of his long lost brother Hakan The Ferocious, who will restore order to their kingdom.

The movie comes from director Farren Blackburn who is best known for directing episodes of Doctor Who this season. It looks like he's made a gritty dark action drama that could end up being entertaining.

Set in Viking Britain in 871 AD, Hammer of the Gods is a visceral, intense tale set in a world whose only language is violence. A young Viking warrior, Steinar (Charlie Bewley), is sent by his father the king on a quest to find his estranged brother, who was banished from the kingdom many years before. Steinar's epic journey across terrifyingly hostile territory allows him to emerge as the man his father wants him to be.

The movie will be released on VOD/iTunes on May 30th and in theaters July 5th, 2013. Vikings are awesome, so hopefully the movie turns out good!

Benicio Del Toro to Join Paul Thomas Anderson's INHERENT VICE

Benicio Del Toro is in talks to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson's next film Inherent Vice

The story is set in Los Angeles in 1970, and it follows a pot-smoking private detective named Doc Sportello (Phoenix) as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl. According to The Wrap, Del Toro is in talks to play "an attorney who's always trying to help the protagonist out of trouble, though he's not an actual criminal lawyer. The character isn't a major role but is expected to be a potential scene-stealer."

The movie is an adaptation of the book written by Thomas Pynchon, and here's a description:

Part noir, part psychedelic romp... private eye Doc Sportello comes, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era as free love slips away and paranoia creeps in with the L.A. fog... It’s been awhile since Doc Sportello has seen his ex-girlfriend. Suddenly out of nowhere she shows up with a story about a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer whom she just happens to be in love with. Easy for her to say. It’s the tail end of the psychedelic sixties in L.A., and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” except that this one usually leads to trouble. Despite which he soon finds himself drawn into a bizarre tangle of motives and passions whose cast of characters includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, a tenor sax player working undercover, an ex-con with a swastika tattoo and a fondness for Ethel Merman, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists.

Unproduced DC Comic Screenplays Could Become Animated Films

$

DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have had several scripts written for feature films over the years such as Wonder Woman, The Flash, Justice League, other versions of Batman and Superman, and who knows what else. There's a good amount of unproduced superhero scripts sitting over at the studio collecting dust that maybe, just maybe, will see the light of day.

While talking to Collider, Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics Geoff Johns revealed that these projects could be brought to life as animated films in the future, and that there have even been discussions about it.

There’s always a possibility. That’s not the first time that’s come up.  There’s always discussions about what would be really cool to do.

Some of these projects could include Tim Burton and Kevin Smith's Superman Lives, J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby, Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman, Darren Aronofsky's Batman: Year One, George Miller's Justice League, Green Arrow: SuperMax, and more.

Which of these superhero films that have never been made would you like to see get the animated movie treatment?

STREET FIGHTER Tournament Ohana Style

HADOUKEN! Well I guess more like "Haya daku taka shen" (that's Stitch for "huge ball of energy flying at your face"). As a huge fan of the little blue mischief maker, I was incredibly pleased to stumble upon this cool Disneyfied take on the Street Fighter universe. Drawn by Abraham Lopez (ArtistAbe on DeviantArt) in the classic Chris Sanders style, this piece just makes me all kinds of giddy. Kudos for the perfect matching of Jumba as E.Honda and Pleakly as Sakura (in some twisted way that totally makes sense). Make sure to head to his Deviant Art or Facebook page to check out some of his other work.

Who else thinks Stitch would lose his focus about halfway through the match upon seeing a sandwich in the corner? Just me?

First Footage from Sci-Fi Thriller GRAVITY with Clooney and Bullock

$

I've been anxiously waiting to see what Alfonso Cuaron's new sci-fi thriller Gravity was going to look like. The last movie he directed was Children of Men, which was fantastic. He's been working on this new film for a long time. It stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, and Warner Bros. has revealed the first footage from it. Unfortunately, it's very short. They also did it through Entertainment Tonight, which means you get the annoying voice-over and obtrusive inserts. As one of my most anticipated movies of this year, and as cool as the movie looks, this first look was a disappointing presentation. Hopefully we get a decent trailer on Thursday.

Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

The movie comes out on October 4th, check out the video!

The first riveting trailer for Paul Greengrass' new film Captain Phillips has been released. The movie tells the true story of the 2009 Somali pirates hijacking of the MV Maersk Alabama. This was the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. Tom Hanks plays the title character in the movie, and he is going to be awesome in it. The movie itself looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see it!

The film also stars Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Yul Vazquez, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky, John Magaro, and Angus MacInnes.

Captain Phillips comes out on October 11th, 2013.

REVIEW: Roccat's Kone XTD Mouse and Isku FX Keyboard

$
0
0

For the past month, I’ve been enjoying the greatness that is the Roccat Kone XTD mouse and Isku FX keyboard. Sure, they have some weird names, but that does not take away the fact that these are simply two great peripherals to add to your gaming rig.

Kone XTD

Let’s first begin with the Kone XTD. When it comes to any mouse, whether they be for gaming or just regular use, comfort is the #1 thing I look for. The Kone XTD fits perfectly in my hand, and I never get tired of using it. My thumb easily rests on the left side of the mouse, and the arch of the device never leaves your hand with that weird cramping feeling.

The DPI of the mouse goes from its lowest at 200, all the way up to 8200. The best part about this is that you can change the DPI setting on the fly thanks to a wonderful easy-access button located on the top of the mouse. As long as you have the Roccat Talk drivers installed, you will actually hear a voice speak out to you informing you exactly what DPI setting you are on each time you change it. This is perfect for when you want to change it on the fly while playing your favorite game.

The mouse has 4 LED lights that illuminate the two strips located on both the left and right sides of the mouse. These strips can shine bright in a multitude of animations including “blinking,” “breathing,” or just plain ol' “solid”. The mouse wheel, simply dubbed the “Titan,” is very smooth to operate and does not feel clunky when trying to move it in either direction.

Along with the above great features, the mouse also includes 4 weights (4 x 5G) that you can add to the mouse, to make the feel a little sturdier while playing. I went ahead and added all 4 of them, and it’s a completely different feel than not having any.

Last but not least, working with the Roccat Talk software + drivers, the Kone XTD works in perfect harmony with the Isku FX (or any other Roccat Talk enabled device). There are so many customization options available that I would probably need another article (or two) to even explain them all. Just know, whatever you can think of is probably possible. You can change macros on the fly with either your keyboard or even just the mouse, and that’s what makes the Roccat Talk software a true gem.

Technical Specifications

  • Pro-Aim Laser Sensor R3 with up to 8200dpi
  • 1000Hz polling rate
  • 1ms response time
  • 12000fps, 10.8megapixel
  • 30G acceleration
  • 3.8m/s (150ips)
  • 16-bit data channel
  • 1-5mm Lift off distance
  • Tracking & Distance Control Unit
  • 72MHz Turbo Core V2 32-bit Arm based MCU
  • 576kB onboard memory
  • Zero angle snapping/prediction
  • 1.8m braided USB cable

Isku FX

When it comes to keyboards, people have different things that they look for. Some people want the ability to have endless amounts of macros, or be able to adjust precisely how the keys feel when you press down on them. For me, I look for a wrist area that will I be comfortable using while typing or gaming.  While looking at Roccat’s site, they say the wrist area “acts like a sofa for your hands,” and I’d have to agree with that statement.

But there is much more to this great keyboard. Just like the Kone XTD mentioned above, the Isku FX has the ability to shine bright in many different colors. This of course can be in sync with your Kone XTD or any other Roccat Talk enabled mouse. On top of that, thanks to some special “magic” within the drivers of the device, the Isku FX lighting can react to what’s happening on your screen. If you’re getting attacked by big bad enemies, it can instantly change the keyboard lighting. Meanwhile, if you are exploring the fields in a game like Skyrim, the lighting will change to somewhat match that scenery. How cool is that?!

The Isku FX comes with 36 macro keys, along with a live macro recording option. So you should have no problem whatsoever getting just the right combination of macros set for your favorite games. Along with the macro keys, you will have the media keys located at the top of the keyboard. I don’t know about you, but I love having these shortcuts on any keyboard so I can instantly bring up my browser, “My Computer” area, or even just adjust the volume. It seems that more and more keyboards leave this option off, so I was happy to see it on this device.

You can set different profiles for the Isku FX (you can do the same with the Kone XTD), 5 profiles to be exact, so no need to worry if you have multiple people using the computer or if you just want completely different options setup for yourself and available on the fly.

Technical Specifications

  • Illuminated keyboard with 123 keys
  • Enhanced anti-ghosting capability
  • 3 programmable Thumbster Keys (T1-T3)
  • 5 programmable Macro Keys (M1-M5)
  • 20 additional Macro Keys (Easy Zone)
  • 5 Profile-Status LEDs
  • 3 Status LEDs (Caps Lock, Easy Shift[+]™, Num Lock)
  • 1000Hz polling rate, 1ms response time
  • 2m USB cable

Overall Score: 5/5

Yup, that's right, both the Kone XTD and Isku FX receive a glowing review. I couldn’t be happier with these devices, and I know I have only begun to unlock their combined potential utilizing the Roccat Talk software. This would be a fantastic addition to your gaming rig.
