Netflix Loses "Hundreds" of Warner Bros Titles From Its Streaming Service Today

0
0

Just after the announcement that Netflix subscriptions are at an all time high, "hundreds" of Warner Bros. titles were dropped from the streaming service at midnight last night. According to The Huffington Post, around 1,800 titles from Warner, MGM (James Bond series), and United Artists were pulled from the instant stream and Netflix line up. This move is likely in response to the launch of a Warner exclusive streaming site, which hopes to compete with the growing market of streaming sites. Netflix assures people not to be worried as they will be adding around 500 titles today and that the "ebb and flow" happens often.

With Warner's coming out with a streaming service, and the recent launch of "Redbox Instant"...is it fair to say we are in the Twilight age of cable television? I've considered cancelling my cable, anyone else?

SCOOBY-DOO Animated Series Spoofs TWIN PEAKS

I don't watch the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated animated series, but they actually had an episode in which they spoofed the classic David Lynch TV series Twin Peaks. The scene was sure to freak out any kid watching it. Even as an animated TV series it's still pretty trippy.

If you have never watched Twin Peaks, you need to get on that! That series was awesome! It's available on Netflix and Hulu. So you really don't have any excuse not to watch it.

I just want to clarify that this scene was actually in the series and is not fan made.

Video from the Set of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 - Chase Scene

0

For the last couple weeks, we've seen a lot of photos and videos from the set of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. We've now got a new video to add to the collection featuring a huge chase sequence, in which a giant truck runs over a cop car. It must be fun destroying stuff for a living in the movies. They're currently shooting in Rochester, New York, and the video comes from Rochester's newspaper Democrat and Chronicle. It gives us a better idea of how big this chase sequence actually is.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

New Japanese Trailer for PACIFIC RIM

Director Guillermo del Toro introduces this new trailer for Pacific Rim cut specifically for Japanese audiences, and talks about how he wanted to pay tribute to all of the things from Japan that inspired him to make this movie. There are a few little bits of new footage in the trailer, so check it out!

Pacific Rim hits theaters on July 12th, and I think it's safe to say that it's going to be the biggest, most epic sized movie of the summer.

The movie stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Idris Elba (Thor), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), and Ron Perlman (Hellboy). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, DiegoKlattenhoff, and Brad William Henke

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Fun Trailer for Anton Yelchin's Supernatural Film ODD THOMAS

0

Odd Thomas looks to be a decently entertaining film! What's so surprising to me about this is that the movie was directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, G.I. Joe). I'm not the biggest fan of his work. It's an adaptation from the Dean Koontz novella, and it stars Anton Yelchin, Addison Timlin, Willem Dafoe, Nico Tortorella, Patton Oswalt, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Yelchin plays the title character who lacks ambition, and works as a fry cook in California, but has the gift of seeing and communicating with ghosts.

Producers have been struggling to get the movie released in theaters due to a legal battle, but they are looking to push it at the Cannes Film Festival. They've cut together this fun trailer for the film to show off what they have, and I like what I see.

The story centers on a short-order cook named Odd Thomas (played by Anton Yelchin) who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police (Willem Dafoe) chief know. The young man can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portent imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe.

Watch the trailer for yourself!

Superman Flies in New MAN OF STEEL Poster

Warner Bros. has released a new poster for Man of Steel featuring Henry Cavill as Superman taking flight above the city of Metropolis. He's a man on a mission to save the world from evil forces. I've been hearing this is going to be the best movie of the summer, we'll just have to wait and see about that. There are a lot of great movies coming out this summer, but I hope that it lives up to the hype. It sure looks amazing!

The Zack Snyder directed film also stars Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix, and Richard Schiff.

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

RETURN OF THE JEDI - 5 Never Before Seen Set Photos

Five never before seen behind the scenes photos have been released from the set of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. Just a couple of days ago we posted a series of set photos for The Empire Strikes Back as well that were really cool. I imagine there's still a ton of other photos that we still haven't seen yet that will eventually make their way online.

The photos are part of J.W. Rinzler's upcoming book The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Chronicle's Michael B. Jordan to "Flame On" in FANTASTIC FOUR?

0
0

Director Josh Trank and FOX are looking to get their Fantastic Four reboot into production, and now casting rumors are starting to hit the web. It was recently mentioned that Girls star Allison Williams could end up playing Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman. Now today, TheWrap is reporting that Trank is looking to team back up with Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan for the film, apparently he's up for the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, who was played by Chris Evans in the first two films.

Jordan is a solid actor who has also appeared in TV series such as The Wire and Friday Night Lights. It seems like he's got the kind of attitude that the character needs.

According to a studio insider, Jordan has already had multiple meetings at Fox, and they say that Jordan's chances on getting the part "depend on whether or not he has chemistry with the other actors up for the highly-anticipated movie."

I'm not sure how fans are going to react to the possibility of having an African-American Human Torch. If this casting news is true, then I don't think Williams is going to work as Sue Storm because the characters are brother and sister. Unless they plan on changing up that dynamic in the story, you never know. There's no confirmation of any of this, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Jordan playing The Human Torch?

Nightmarish Horror Short - DON'T MOVE

Here's a fantastically made horror short film that you'll want to watch called Don't Move. It was directed by Anthony Melton from a script written by David Scullion. It's another entry in the Bloody Cuts anthology of short horror movies. This is an awesome film, and I liked the concept. Here's a little description...

Set on one fateful night, six friends gather for their monthly ‘games night’… and accidentally unleash a demonic force that might tear them - and their friendships - to pieces.

For those of you like me who enjoy the horror genre, you're going to enjoy this.

IRON MAN 3 Review

0
0

It's been a blast watching Marvel's cinematic universe blow up on the big screen these last few years, and it all started with Jon Favreau's Iron Man. That movie set the tone and standard for every Marvel film that has been made since, and they've been getting bigger and better! Iron Man 3 is one of the best Marvel movies to date, and the best Iron Man movie in the franchise.

I had pretty high expectations built up for Iron Man 3. Marvel marketed the hell out of it and did a great job of getting their fan base pumped up. I liked everything I saw leading up to the film's release, and I watched everything that Marvel threw out at us! As you know, Marvel released a lot of footage! One of the interesting things about this is that regardless of how much the studio released, Marvel still managed to keep all the big secrets of the film's story under wraps. The movie was packed full of surprises that I didn't see coming, and I loved that!

I'm not going to spoil any of these surprises for you though so don't worry. I will be curious to hear what you all think about these unexpected events and plot twists. The story and script were exceptional. The acting was spot on. The action was insane, and it was full of funny moments. The movie goes above and beyond what I was expecting, and it delivers on every level!

I especially enjoyed seeing this new side of Tony Stark that we've never seen. It really added a whole new dynamic to the character, and helped drive the story forward into very fun and creative directions. Robert Downey Jr. gave his best Tony Stark performance yet, and if he doesn't come back to reprise his role, at least he ended his Iron Man career on top. Everyone else in the movie was fantastic as well; Ben Kingsley was especially entertaining as The Mandarin. He was one of my favorite parts of the movie. One of my other favorite aspects of the film was the little kid that Stark befriends in the movie, it added the perfect amount energetic fun. Stark treats the kid like anyone else, and that's what I enjoyed most about it. It was nice to see Don Cheadle's Rhodey get some more action, and then there's Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts who is perfect as always.

Tony is in a dark and stressful place in the movie. The events of The Avengers really jacked him up, and it was interesting seeing him deal with those intense issues in Iron Man 3.  He almost died in The Avengers, and found out that they are not alone in the universe. This and Pepper are the driving force of the story and the reason why Tony is the way he is, and why he does what he does.

Iron Man 3 is one of the coolest movies that I've seen this year. It was incredibly entertaining, and it's the perfect film to kick off the summer of 2013! It has set a high standard for the rest of the films this summer so hopefully the others will live up to it!

I know you don't need me to talk you into seeing this movie. You've already made your decision, and I'm sure most of you are going to see it. I'm basically just here to let you know that the movie is freakin' awesome and that I'm sure you're going to love it! Enjoy your time at the movie and after you see it let us know what you thought!

J.J. Abrams Discusses His Approach to STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

0
0

In an interview with the BBC, J.J. Abrams talked about his thoughts on Star Wars: Episode VII, and explains how directing it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him.

As you know, the director turned it down at first. He admits that he is worried about being seen as the guy who "reboots" franchises. "It was one of the main reasons I initially said no to Star Wars, I thought, 'I can't be that guy.'" I don't think Star Wars would be considered a reboot though because it's a sequel to an ongoing saga.

Before Star Wars came knocking at his door, the director was working on a small comedy drama that was supposed to be the next film he would direct.

And then Star Wars came along. It was one of those things where Star Wars felt like one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that forced me to stop and reconsider whatever the rulebook was.

It's a good thing he did that too. It's exciting that he's going to be directing it! Abrams is also a huge Star Wars fan-boy, and he explains how he is going to have to try and suppress his "geeky fan-boy" excitement about the project,

It's just about approaching it from as authentic a place as possible, and not trying to apply what you believe or think, as much as trying to filter everything and get at it from the core of the characters. [It should be] what you deeply want to see, never what you assume the fans might like.

Abrams goes on to say that he's not concerned with the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises feeling similar explaining,

To me they are such wildly disparate universes - the back story, the tone, the mood, certainly the history [and] the characters - that I'm in no way worried.

Head on over to BBC to read the rest of the interview as he talks about other things like where he would like to see TV go.

Do you think Episode VII could end up being better than anything Lucas has already done with the franchise?

Steven Spielberg to Direct Bradley Cooper in AMERICAN SNIPER

0
0

Steven Spielberg is set to direct his next film! The movie is an adaptation of the autobiography American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, written by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. The movie will simply be called American Sniper, and Bradley Cooper is set to star in the film and has also been developing it as a producer.

The project was announced last year when Cooper set it up with Warner Bros. "The book reveals how Texas native Kyle came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American. The book has been praised for its frankness in telling a first-person account of a warrior who shoots from far and close distances. Giving the book its emotional core are passages from Kyle’s wife, who slowly watches as her husband’s affection turns from her to the SEALs and war."

This is going to be a great project for Spielberg and Cooper to develop, and it sounds like it will make for a hell of an awesome film. I'm excited to see that Spielberg will be taking it on! As you know, he makes incredible films that deal with the military and war.

Here's the full description of the book:

He is the deadliest American sniper ever, called “the devil” by the enemies he hunted and “the legend” by his Navy SEAL brothers . . .

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle’s masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

A native Texan who learned to shoot on childhood hunting trips with his father, Kyle was a champion saddle-bronc rider prior to joining the Navy. After 9/11, he was thrust onto the front lines of the War on Terror, and soon found his calling as a world-class sniper who performed best under fire. He recorded a personal-record 2,100-yard kill shot outside Baghdad; in Fallujah, Kyle braved heavy fire to rescue a group of Marines trapped on a street; in Ramadi, he stared down insurgents with his pistol in close combat. Kyle talks honestly about the pain of war—of twice being shot and experiencing the tragic deaths of two close friends.

American Sniper also honors Kyles fellow warriors, who raised hell on and off the battlefield. And in moving first-person accounts throughout, Kyles wife, Taya, speaks openly about the strains of war on their marriage and children, as well as on Chris.

Adrenaline-charged and deeply personal, American Sniper is a thrilling eyewitness account of war that only one man could tell.

I Call B.S. on These JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Plot Details

0
0

Fan image by Whoa123

There are some plot details for the Justice League movie that have been making their way around the internet that originated at Live for Films. I have to say that I think the details are complete bullshit. The thing reads like silly fan fiction that packs everything from the DC universe into one movie. If this are real, there's no way they are going to be able to effectively pull it off. I seriously doubt this is the real deal so I wouldn't worry.

The last we heard about Justice League was that Warner Bros. wasn't going to use the script written by Will Beall and that if Man of Steel does well, the studio will green light the project and bring on Zack Snyder to direct. The source of the plot details, who goes by the named of “Good Samaritan”, says that the script is now being written by a "pair of up and coming screenwriters and lifelong DC comics fans whose names are currently remaining unannounced."

So here it is, read it over and let's talk about it...

I can unofficially confirm that the movie WILL use Henry Cavill’s Superman, as well as an already established Batman (who has been left open enough to use Nolan’s John Blake if the situation were to arise *wink wink*), and will follow the two as they try to piece together the Justice League when a new threat shows up with Earth conquest on his mind.

Following the events of “Man of Steel,” NASA and Lex Luthor begin sending signals out into space to attract other alien beings which reach Apokolips, prompting an invasion of “Hunger Dogs” sent by Darkseid and lead by Kalibak, Orion, and the Female Furies.

Superman and Batman, knowing they won’t be able to fight them alone, recruit the help of Green Lantern, (who’s left open to be either Ryan Reynold’s Hal Jordan or John Stewart, either way they’ll be using the already established Green Lantern corps from the Martin Campbell film), J’onn J’onzz the Martian Manhunter (who is confirmed as not being CGI), who comes to protect Earth after escaping from a prison on Apokolips because he knows the next planet on Darkseid’s mind will be Mars once he conquers Earth, the Barry Allen incarnation of the Flash who will gain his powers in the first 1/3rd of the film, and Princess Diana of Themyscira, who is ready to leave Themyscira and refuses to continue standing by and not use her ability to help the Justice League when she finds out the world is in crisis.

This isn’t campy lasso using, invisible plane driving, star spangled banner Linda Carter Wonder Woman either, she’s got super strength and truly kicks ass.

As I don’t want to give away too much information, I’ll leave it as that but the movie will absolutely blow your mind, it’s filled with cameos of lesser known heroes and villains (like Lobo and the baddies Mongrul and Sinestro to name a few!) to establish them for the sequel, all while maintaining a consistent “grounded in reality” but not TOO realistic approach that fans like so much today.

The heroes save the day, and the army of “Hunger Dogs” retreat back to Apokolips, where a furious Darkseid punishes Kalibak while Orion begins to question his loyalty to his father. Darkseid then goes to the furthest depths of Apokolips to release a prisoner known only as “Doomsday” and sets the movie up immediately for a sequel following a quick glimpse of the baddest villain in the DC universe. Prepare to be rocked is all I have to say.

I have to say, this doesn't excite me at all. There's just way too much going on, and one too many origin stories for one film. Hopefully this isn't the plan because it would most likely suck. I personally think DC and WB should take their time with their properties, and make a couple more character focused movies like Wonder Woman and The Flash before they jump into Justice League. This whole thing just rubs me the wrong way.

What are your thoughts on these story details?

Kevin Feige on New AVENGERS 2 Recruits and THOR 2 (New Photo)

0
0

Last week, Joss Whedon hinted that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be new additions to The Avengers 2. That news was later confirmed by EW, but when they talked to Marvel president Kevin Feige he kept quiet about it. However, he did tease some new recruits for the big screen version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes,

All of the Avengers from the first movie will be back and they will be the core team, but what's fun is that the roster shifts. It was always the intention to have a story line that brought in, obviously, new bad guys and potentially new heroes. I'm not confirming nor denying [Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver], but the draft could change six months from now. If we're going to add new characters, there's going to be a major part of the movie.

I'm excited to see what other new characters we end up seeing in the sequel, and I'm happy to hear that whoever they end up being will have a major part in the film, and not just a cameo role. Feige goes on to talk about Alan Taylor's new vision of Thor in Thor: The Dark World saying,

Alan is bringing a grittier, more textured patina to the designs of the worlds, and to Asgard in particular. It's less to chase either Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings - because you're not going to catch up. But part of the fun of Thor over the other characters is he doesn't have to stay on Earth. We visit a few of the other realms in this new movie.

Very early on, Feige said that the other nine realms would play a part in the film, so it's cool to hear that that's something they stuck to.  I really want to see how these other realms are portrayed in the Marvel movie universe. I enjoy talking about these Marvel movies! It gets me excited see what else the studio is working on!

You'll find a new photo from Thor: The Dark World above and a closer look of the image below:

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER - More Details and New Art

0
0

Thanks to Marvel President Kevin Feige, we've got a few more little details to share with you about Captain America: The Winter Soldier. There's also a cool new piece of concept art for the movie featuring The Winter Soldier. While talking to EW, Feige talks about why Cap is hanging around with S.H.I.E.L.D. and reveals that he's uncomfortable there and with Nick Fury.

We weren't going back to World War II. Cap cannot travel in time. So while Tony can go home to Malibu and Thor goes up to Asgard and Hulk can sort of ride the rails, Cap was stuck. So Cap does stay with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he has nowhere else to go. But he's not necessarily comfortable there. And just as he's given permission to let go of the past and to focus on the modern world, a ghost comes up. With the Greatest Generation in World World II, there's a tendency to reflect on that period and say, 'Things were black and white back then, and now it's hard to know who the bad guys are.' 'We wanted to play on that a little with Cap being uncomfortable with the way S.H.I.E.L.D., and in particular Nick Fury, operates.

Captain America has always been one of my favorite comic book characters, and I love that this sequel is going to almost be a mini Avengers team-up movie with Cap teaming up with Black Widow and The Falcon. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'd love to see a Marvel movie in which Iron Man and The Hulk team up for some kind of adventure. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how The Winter Soldier turns out.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel’s The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

JURASSIC PARK 4 Will Return to the Original Island of Isla Nublar

Director Colin Trevorrow has people out scouting locations for Jurassic Park 4, and he revealed that the story will be taking place back on the original Island from the first film, Isla Nublar. He ended up tweeting out the photo above. The two other sequels, The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 took place on a different island, called Isla Sorna, a.k.a. Site B.

There's still no information on the plot of the story, but I like the fact that they will be returning to the original theme park island. I'm excited to see what it looks like 20 years later, and overrun with Dinosaurs. It will be interesting to see why the story takes place on the island. At this point, all we can do is speculate about what is going to happen.

Here's a map and some information on the island.

Isla Nublar is a remote island about 120 miles (190 km) off the west coast of Costa Rica, which is only 87 miles away from Isla Sorna. The island was intended to to be the site of Jurassic Park. It was to be a tourist attraction featuring living biological dinosaurs cloned from pre-historic DNA. The park was controlled from the Visitor Center. The sequence of disasters that led to the closing of Jurassic Park is nicknamed the Isla Nublar Incident.

PACIFIC RIM - Epic Sized Super Banner

Here's a massive, epic super banner for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim featuring a crazy looking battle scene between the Jaeger and the Kaiju. You can click on the image below to see it in its entirety. I've also posted broken up sections of the banner.

The movie comes out on July 12th, 2013!
