Insanely Demented Animated Short MAN SPAGHETTI

0
0

Here's a fantastically demented animated short film that's sure to make your day better. The movie is called Man Spaghetti, it was created by Felix Colgrave, and it packs a hard punch of amazing absurdity. Here's what the animator had to say about his film:

When I made this film, I was exploring the idea of how living things are made of matter, and when we die and rot and we’re returned to the earth and yadda yadda, and then that matter then goes on to build other living things. Basically I cut out the middle man, and made the matter reorganise itself into new things the moment the consciousness died. Then i put them in onesies and gave the whole thing a silly name.

Enjoy the crazy show!

Trailer for the Cannibal Horror Comedy FRESH MEAT

New Zealand always tends to make really fun and crazy horror comedies, and there's one set to screen at the Tribeca Film Festival called Fresh Meat. The first trailer has been released for the Danny Mulheron-directed film, and it looks like an entertaining dark cannibal comedy.

The story follows "a dysfunctional gang of criminals force a suburban family to help them lay low after a heist, but the hunter becomes the hunted when their hostages turn out to be cannibals." It's a brilliant twist, and I hope I get a chance to see this movie. For those of you looking for another good reason to watch the film, you'll be happy to know that it stars Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequels.

Enjoy the trailer!

The movie comes out on May 3rd!

When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

UNDER THE DOME TV Spot - Say Goodbye

One of my most anticipated new shows of the year is the Steven Spielberg-produced adaptation of Stephen King's Under the Dome. The series comes from Brian K. Vaughan of LOST. The director of the original The Girl with the Dragon TattooNiels Arden Ople, directed the first episode. This is a fantastic story that is sure to make for a solid TV series. This new promo trailer that has been released gives us a taste of what we can expect to see in regards to the look of the show. Here's the story description:

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester’s Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener’s hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when—or if—it will go away.

Dale Barbara, Iraq vet and now a short-order cook, finds himself teamed with a few intrepid citizens—town newspaper owner Julia Shumway, a physician’s assistant at the hospital, a selectwoman, and three brave kids. Against them stands Big Jim Rennie, a politician who will stop at nothing—even murder—to hold the reins of power, and his son, who is keeping a horrible secret in a dark pantry. But their main adversary is the Dome itself. Because time isn’t just short. It’s running out.

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. The sci-fi drama is set to premiere on Monday, June 24th at 10 pm. Check out the trailer!

Incredibly Awesome MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Art Series

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was such an awesome property in the 80s. I grew up with the toys, the animated series, and that crazy cheesy live-action movie that's just too amazing for words. Artist Gerald Parel created an incredibly badass set of character art for the franchise that fans are sure to love. These are so cool! The series includes the characters He-Man, Trapjaw, Beast Man, The Sorceress, Stratos, Man-At-Arms, She-Ra, Evil-Lyn, Teela, Skeletor, and more.

Luke Evans Joins DRACULA: YEAR ZERO

It's been a long time since Dracula: Year Zero has been in the news. At one point, Alex Proyas (The Crow) was set to direct the movie with Sam Worthington attached to star, then commercial director Gary Shore (Wolverine Vs. The Hand) ended up taking his place. Variety confirms that Shore is still attached to direct the film for Universal Pictures, and they also report that Fast and Furious 6 and Immortals actor Luke Evans will be taking on the lead role of Dracula in the movie. I think he's a solid choice; he certainly has the look.

There's not much known about the story other than it is "a mix of mythology and true history as it follows the story of Prince Vlad, the inspiration for the Dracula character popularized by the Bram Stoker novel." I'm not sure how much has changes since Proyas was involved, but when talking about the script in a previous interview he said the story will...

...put the whole legend on its head in every conceivable way and comes out with something that is both a kind of an ode to Bram Stoker’s original Dracula, in that it’s kind of a prequel to that, but it also redefines the character to such an extent that I found it quite exciting, so that is very much a kind of reinvention of that character and it’s why I got excited about it.

It's Prince Vlad of Transylvania in the 14th century, and to save his kingdom and his family he takes his first step into darkness, It's his evolution into the monster that Dracula became.

This has the potential to be a solid Dracula flick. Hopefully it turns out as enthralling as it sounds. What do you think about Evans playing Dracula in the movie?

WORLD WAR Z TV Spot - Getting Out

Here's a new TV spot for Word War Z that basically recycles footage from the other trailers. I didn't see anything new in it, but if you want to check it out you're more than welcome to! This looks like it will be a decent zombie flick, it's just in no way reminiscent of the actual book that it's supposed to be based on.

Based on Max Brooks' best-selling novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, the movie revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Marc Forster directed the movie, and it stars Brad PittMireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, and Matthew Fox. World War Z is set to be released on June 21st, 2013.

IRON MAN 3 - New TV Spots and Audi Commercial

A couple of new TV spots have been released for Iron Man 3. One of them is actually an Audi commercial, but most of the footage included comes from the film. There's a few bits of new footage included in these, but nothing mind-blowingly insane.

It stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Stephanie Szostak, Jon FavreauRebbeca Hall, and Guy Pearce. Iron Man 3 is set to open in 3D and 2D theaters on May 3rd, 2013.

Warner Bros. Developing BERMUDA TRIANGLE Film

0
0

Warner Bros. has just acquired the rights to an original spec script by screenwriter Daniel Kunka called The Bermuda Triangle. There's not much information on the plot of the film, but they are looking to turn it into an action franchise. As the film's title suggests, it will center on the legendary supernatural phenomenon that is supposedly the cause of several ship and plane disappearances over the years.

I enjoy reading about the history of these kinds of supernatural mythologies, and I bet this could turn out to be a cool film if they don't turn it into something over-the-top and stupid.

The film is being developed over at Atlas Entertainment and Madhouse Entertainment with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle producing.

ELYSIUM - New Photos, Banners, and Character Profiles

0

Yesterday, Sony Pictures unleashed the first trailer for Neill Blomkamp's Elysium, and it looked phenomenal! It seems a lot of people are really excited about this new sci-fi film. I think Blomkamp is going to deliver fans another incredible movie. Luckily we only have to wait a few more months before we can see it. Click here to watch the trailer again or watch it for the first time.

The official Elysium website has been updated to include a bunch of new images of several of the characters in the story. It also offers some more cool information on the film as well as some character profiles, which I've included below. There's a lot of stuff to be learned about this movie and these characters, so I suggest you check it all out!

Here are the character profiles:

Max Da Costa (Matt Damon)

Max Da Costa hasn't always played by the rules. As a result, he's spent a good chunk of his 36 years locked up. Nobody, including himself, expected much of the orphan who grew up on the streets in the sprawling shantytowns of 22nd-century Los Angeles. But now Max is committed to playing it straight in spite of his endlessly routine existence as an assembly line worker at an Armadyne plant. That is until one day something goes awry, and consequences out of Max's control once again test his resolve to stay on the right side of the law.

Frey (Alice Braga)

The County Hospital is dirty, decrepit and crowded far beyond capacity. Nursing is what Frey always wanted to do, but working here is dispiriting and exhausting. It's also a necessity as it provides access to things she can't live without. When Max shows up in her ER, she knows she shouldn't trust him. They were so close growing up, pilfering food, dodging police bots - surviving together. But that was years ago and things are drastically different.

Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster)

As Secretary of Defense, Delacourt directs Elysium's security apparatus. She monitors Elysium's borders and commands the Civil Cooperation Bureau, the organization that keeps Earth in line and its citizens where they belong. While her hawkish assessment of the illegal immigration threat is not shared by all of Elysium's leaders, with a stream of filthy, graffiti-laden shuttles headed their way, she will do whatever necessary to keep Elysium safe.

Minister Patel (Faran Tahir)

Recently elected to lead the orbital habitat's 8,000 super-high-net-worth citizens, Patel understands how critical public opinion can be and prefers a more humane approach to keeping Elysium free of illegals. That puts him at odds with Defense Secretary Delacourt who has no issue with the ruling class getting a little blood on their hands.

John Carlyle (William Fichtner)

As CEO of Armadyne, John Carlyle is the rare Elysium citizen who's obligated to spend time on Earth. With branch offices and facilities in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Moscow, Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, and Mexico City, Armadyne is not only one of the planet's biggest and most valuable Elysium contractors, but also the company responsible for building it. So Carlyle sits behind bulletproof glass in its Los Angeles headquarters, running the company, while below him thousands of workers toil away at building the security bots that keep them from ever reaching Elysium.

Kruger (Sharlto Copley)

M Kruger—or Agent 32 Alpha 21b, as he's designated by the Civil Cooperation Bureau—is a crucial weapon in Secretary Delacourt's arsenal to keep Elysium free of illegals. Countless human rights violations to his name, he is one of the CCB's most capable Earth-based sleeper agents. Kruger's knack for killing is all Delacourt considers when it comes to protecting Elysium.

Julio (Diego Luna)

Max and Julio were brothers from the time they stole their first car together. Max was a legend on the dirty streets of LA where they grew up. These days Julio runs solo. He can't believe Max would go straight—especially to punch the clock at a place like Armadyne. When Max agrees to pull off one last job in a desperate attempt to change his life, Julio steps up to help his old friend.

Spider (Wagner Moura)

Something between an opportunistic entrepreneur and a modern day Robin Hood, Spider sells what people want: passage to Elysium. He doesn't shuttle illegals to Elysium for charity, but he's their ticket to salvation all the same. He experiences a crisis on conscience when Max uncovers something that can equal the playing field between the "Have Nots" of Earth and the "Haves" of Elysium.

Here's the synopsis:

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Exciting New TV Spot for THE LONE RANGER

0

Disney has released a new TV sport for their epic Gore Verbinski-directed western The Lone Ranger, and it features a few bit of fun new footage. The film is set to be released on July 3rd, and I think it going to end up being really good. Verbinski is a solid director, and it's got an entertaining cast of actors. I've got high hopes for this one!

“The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice–taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

AMC to Develop BREAKING BAD Spin-off Series for Saul Goodman?

0
0

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has previously revealed that he'd like to develop a Breaking Bad spinoff series that centers on defense attorney Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. Now according to Deadline, it sounds like AMC is actually considering the idea as being an hourlong or half-hourlong comedy series.

He's a wonderful character that I've enjoyed watching on the show since he was introduced in season 2, but it's really hard for me to imagine him outside of the situation that he's currently involved with in Breaking Bad. It's such an intense situation that to think of him in a comedy series just doesn't feel right, at the same time... it could be great! I may be kind of flip-flopping here, I know, but it's just one of those things I can see both the good and bad in.

This isn't a done deal right now, but Gilligan and series writer-producer Peter Gould, are currently working on some ideas. Here's what Gilligan said about it in a past interview last year...

I would love to see a Saul Goodman spinoff. I like the idea of a lawyer show in which the main lawyer will do anything it takes to stay out of a court of law. He’ll settle on the courthouse steps, whatever it takes to stay out of the courtroom. That would be fun — I would like that.

Do you think a comedy that centers on Saul Goodman could be a good series?

Jim Carrey to Star in RICKY STANICKY

0
0

It seems like Jim Carrey's acting career is about to take off again. I think Kick-Ass 2 is going to give his career a much needed boost. I was hoping he'd start choosing better movie roles, and it's been announced that he's set to star in a new comedy called Ricky Stanicky, which sounds like another good project for him.

The movie will re-team the actor with Steve Oedekerk, who wrote Bruce Almighty and wrote and directed Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. According to the report, the script is described as "an ensemble comedy in the vein of The Hangover and begins when three teens pull a prank and burn down a house in their neighborhood. They create a fake person to take the blame: Ricky Stanicky. Twenty years later, it turns out the three guys have been using this alibi to get out of every uncomfortable situation in life. When their girlfriends and wives force them to set up a meeting with Stanicky, they hire an out-of-work actor to play the part."

I love the concept of this, and I could see this being a terrific comedy. Hopefully they can fill the cast out with a few other solid comedic actors.

The movie was actually picked up by Summit Entertainment in 2010 with James Franco attached to play Stanicky. He ended up dropping out, and at one point Joaquin Phoenix almost joined the project. Things have been quiet on the project until today.

MASS EFFECT: Under Fire Artwork by Drake Tsui

I spent a good deal of time in this exact situation while playing Mass Effect, but I too loved every (well most every) second of it. Quirkilicious, otherwise known as Drake Tsui, is also a fan of the series and produced this wonderful rendition of a typical dogfight in the ME Universe.

Starring my favorite member of the team Liara along with Garrus and Grunt, the lines are all sleek and the coloring is incredibly vibrant. Also of note is how spot on the weapons are compared to their digital counterparts. If you like what you see make sure to check out his gallery for some great Cortana artwork as well.

THE HANGOVER III - New Posters with Phil and Alan + 2 TV Spots

Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis grace the two latest character posters for Warner Bros. The Hangover III. Cooper is definitely the least interesting of the posters that we've seen. There's nothin' too crazy going on with him, he's just looking a little confused. Alan on the other hand has a guy in a pig mask chasing after him. But we also have a couple of TV spots for you to watch as well!

This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

The Todd Phillips-directed movie also stars Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Justin Bartha, John Goodman, Sasha Barrese, Gillian Vigman, and Jamie Chung. It's set to be released on May 24th.

Harley Quinn Fan Art - Poker Face

I came across this fantastic illustration of Harley Quinn by DeviantArt user polarityplus, and instantly fell in love with it. The piece is called "Poker Face", and it's just an adorable image of my favorite Batman Femme Fatale. One of the things I like most about it, is the fact that she's presented without the makeup and costume. All she needs is that card. Here's a note from the artist,

I wanted to try something different. I had the song pokerface in my head and this popped out.
My take on Harley Quinn. Oh she looks happy.
