The two Cars movies that Pixar has made so far are my least favorite of any Pixar film, but the kids love them regardless, and they also make money. I'll be surprised if we ever wee a third Cars film, but Pixar has released three short films for the franchise that some of you Disney/Pixar fans might like to check out. 

The short series is called Tales From Radiator Springs and they were directed by Jeremy Lasky. The first is called Hiccups, and features Lightning McQueen getting the Hiccups. The second is called Bugged, and features fire engine Red getting Bugged, and the third one of called Spinning, and is about Guido with a Spinning sign.

Talk about a masterful eye... in all of his films Park Chan-Wook makes the camera an active participant, even if the camera is an iPhone 4. 

The entire 33 minute film was filmed solely using an iPhone 4, using technological innovations to his advantage! This short further solidifies him as a master of his craft.

Earlier this month it was announced that Skyfall director Sam Mendes wouldn't be back to direct Bond 24. Even though he's not going to be directing the 24th James Bond film, it doesn't mean he won't be back for a 25th or 26th! Mendes himself said he would like to make another sometime in the future. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have said that they expect to get him to come back. Broccoli states:

We will get him back. We haven’t given up hope... Maybe not for the next one… but we will get him back again.

Wilson adds,

We are working on him. We hope that maybe he will have gotten inspired to come back.

For those of you wondering what Mendes thinks about all this here's what he had to say...

Bond movies, they need someone working on it now...I’m doing my theatre projects and then I’ll work out... I’ve definitely left the door open though... I’ve never really repeated myself, done the same type of movie one after the other, so just give me a chance to think about what I actually want to say.

Mendes has made the most successful Bond movie, so of course they are going to do everything they can to get him back. It'd be great if he came back for another 007 adventure!

Charlize Theron is on a roll with landing acting gigs these days! She's just signed on to star in a new untitled crime thriller from Paramount Pictures. She will also produce the movie, which is described as "being similar in tone to The Departed and The End of Watch and centers on a corrupt vigilante group." The script for the film is being written by Dan Nowak (The Killing).

Theron is also set to star in Seth MacFarlane's comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, Fred Savage's comedy Ladies Night, and an an independent adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel Dark Places. She recently finished shooting Mad Max: Fury Road, which I'm incredibly excited about seeing! 

Theron is a solid actress, and it's cool to see her taking on a variety of film projects, not only as an actor but as a producer as well.

FOX has released a new 20 second sneak peak at the upcoming trailer for The Wolverine, I've also included 2 motion posters that were recently released for the film. The trailer ends abruptly, and you're kind of like "what the hell?" But I liked what I saw, and I'm sure you will, too. It looks like this could be a pretty badass Wolverine movie! The full teaser trailer will be released tomorrow.  

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

The movie was directed by James Mangold and stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, and Svetlana Khodchenkova. It's set to hit theatres on July 26th, 2013!

We've got a couple of new photos featuring Evangeline Lilly as the Elf Tauriel in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The director revealed the images during his latest online Hobbit Q&A.

This is a new character that was created just for the movie by Jackson and his co-writers Guillermo del Toro, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and is not based on any of J.R.R. Tolkien's characters. Tauriel is related to Legolas, and I'm sure it's a solid character that will help move the story along. 

We’re quite excited about the storyline we have created for Tauriel. As you can see, she’s not an Elf Guard to be messed with.

In a previous interview with Lilly she discussed the character saying,

Yeah! I am very concerned to this day that people will watch the film and I’ll be the black mark on the film. I know how adamant the purists are and I’m one of them! That said, upon reading The Hobbit again, as an adult, I can see why additional characters were needed to round out the story as an adaptation – especially female characters! The Hobbit didn’t include female characters at all and was a very linear story, a book for children, really. What Peter, Fran (Walsh) and Philippa (Boyens) have done is all in perfect keeping with Tolkien’s world, while adding a third dimension to an otherwise very two-dimensional story.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens up in theaters on December 13th, 2013.

Seth Green has landed the lead role in a new live-action sitcom from Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane called Dads. The six-episode series comes from the same writers of the movie Ted-- Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild-- and it centers on "two successful video game entrepreneurs, Eli (Green) and Warner (The Mindy Project's Tommy Dewey), in their thirties who have their lives turned upside down when their nightmare dads unexpectedly move in with them."

It's good to see Green land something since his Star Wars Detours series was postponed until after Star Wars: Episode VII comes out. This seems like a perfect show and character for him to take on. MacFarlane and Green currently work together on the animated series Family Guy.

Marvel has released a new promo image for Iron Man 3 featuring Tony Stark's Mark 33 Centurion armor and the Mark 40 Shotgun armor. The images was unlocked through a sweepstakes on the official Iron Man Facebook page, and it looks like you can unlock even more suits!

As expected, here's another giant Jaeger robot character poster for Pacific Rim. This one features Russia's Cherno Alpha. It looks burly and ready to kick some Kaiju ass. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these posters!

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman. The film is set to hit theaters July 12th, 2013. Here's the synopsis...

Here's a fun series of geek culture inspired illustrations from artist Otis Frampton that he calls "Lookin' For Trouble." The art features characters from several different films and TV series lookin' for trouble. Those movies include include Star Wars, Iron Man, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones, and more! Each piece also includes three sketches that lead up to the finished product. Check them out!

Here's a couple more photos that have surfaced from Star Trek Into Darkness. One is a fold-out Empire Magazine cover featuring the cast of the film. The other features some crazy little drone type ship called MC-9321. It'll be interesting to see what they end up using that for in the film. It didn't seem very long ago that Amazon announced the Zombieland TV series that they are developing. Well, the pilot has already been completed, and we have our first look at the new cast in character. Little Rock (Izabela Vidovic), Tallahassee (Kirk Ward), Wichita (Maiara Walsh), and Columbus (Tyler Ross).

The story is basically the same as the movie, and finds four survivors outwitting zombies and searching for a place to call home. Creator Paul Wernick had this to say in a previous statement, "Zombieland will strive to break the rules—action, adventure, thrills, chills and laughs and all packed into a half hour format. This is not your average show but Amazon is not your average network."

Everyone looks great in their roles, and I really hope that the TV series ends up being good and works out. I'm sure it will, after all it was originally envisioned as a TV show before it was made into a movie. I'm looking forward to it. What do you think of your first look at the cast?

Here's a great new featurette for HBO's Game of Thrones season 3 called "Inside The Wildings." The Wildings are the people who live north of the wall. The cast, crew, and George R.R. Martin talk Wildlings, Giants, and the frozen wasteland in which they reside. The video also features some cool looking new footage.

GRRM, and various members of the cast and crew focus in on The Wildlings and their role in Season Three of Game of Thrones. Will Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) make it back to the Night's Watch or will he forsake duty and his oath to find a new life amongst The Wildlings?

The show is set to return next weekend on March 31st, 2013, and I'm incredibly excited!

For those of you wondering when you'll get to see the first trailer for Gavin Hood's adaptation of Ender's Game, producer Roberto Orci has confirmed that it will debut in front of Star Trek Into Darkness, so that's gonna be awesome! So that gives us another cool thing to look forward to seeing on May 17th. I'm really hoping the first footage we see of the film blows the fans away.

Yesterday the first poster was released for the film, which is shown above featuring a teasing look at Asa Butterfield as Ender.

The movie also stars Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Moises Arias, Khylin Rhambo, Viola Davis, and Nonso Anozie. Ender’s Game hits theaters on November 1st, 2013.

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. You've got to watch this hilariously awesome comedy short called Lucy in the Sky with Diamond, which stars Lou Diamond Phillips. The films was written and directed by Joey Boukadakis, it's solidly fun writing with strong acting. 

The story follows a guy named John (John Patrick Jordan) who's sulking over losing his super hot girlfriend (Marlana Carter). While out with a friend he finds out that she's now dating Lou Diamond Phillips. Things take a great turn for the awkward when Phillips pulls John aside to give him some advice on how to move on. From there things get even more bizarre.

You're going to enjoy this one, so check it out!

Whether or not Lex Luthor will be in Man of Steel hasn't really been talked about. In fact, I think a lot of us have just assumed that he's not going to be in it, but that might not actually be the case. In a recent interview with I Am Rogue screenwriter David Goyer was asked about the decision to leave Lex out of this latest Superman film. Instead of explaining why the villain wasn't included though, Goyer threw a curveball and said...

I don’t think anyone has [ever] confirmed that we haven’t included him.

Whaaa? Now here's the kicker, the person doing the interview didn't even ask a follow-up question! How can you not ask a follow-up question to that comment?! That was a golden opportunity to really try and dig into the role Lex might be playing in this movie, and instead the journalist lets Goyer off the hook. 

I looked up Man of Steel's IMDB page and there's no actor being credited as Lex so if he is included they are really trying to hide it, or he's going to be part of a post-credit end scene. Or maybe he's there in spirit, in the background brewing throughout the story, with people talking about him. We'll eventually find out when the movie is released on June 14th!

If Luthor is involved that would be cool, I just don't think he'll have a main part to play in this story. 

It's not easy being a hero, especially for someone like Bruce Willis who's movie characters always seems to find themselves in insane situations where everyone wants to kill him! The is the basic inspiration for a great new action film supercut called Everybody Wants to Kill Bruce. The video was created by Pierre-Alexandre Chauvat, and he used 39 movies, and it's not just movies that Willis was in. Here's a description from the editor,

HBO has released another awesome new spot for Games of Thrones season 3 called "The Wait is Over," and it features a solid amount of cool dragon footage and swordplay action. 

The series comes back to HBO this weekend on March 31st. It's amost here! Check out the latest trailer!

As season three begins, the Lannisters hold absolute dominion over King's Landing after repelling Stannis Baratheon's forces. Yet Robb Stark, King in the North, still controls much of the South as well, and has yet to lose a battle. In the Far North, Mance Rayder has united the wildlings into the largest army Westeros has ever seen. Only the Night's Watch stands between him and the Seven Kingdoms, but nobody knows what happened to its Lord Commander and the force he led beyond the Wall. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen - reunited with her three growing dragons - ventures into Slaver's Bay in search of ships to take her home and allies to conquer it.

Here's another funny Honest Trailer from the gang over at Screen Junkies. They take aim at one of this year's Oscar nominated films, Les Miserables, and they once again do a great job of bringing the funny.

It's no secret that director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin have been developing a couple of sequels for Independence Day called ID Forever Part One and ID Forever Part Two. It's hard to believe that it's been 17 years since the first movie came out. It's still a fun movie to watch! The team has been hard at work on developing the story and scripts for the sequels, and in a recent interview with EW Emmerich offers up some plot details on where they plan on taking the story, and the characters who will be involved.

The story takes place 20 years after the events that took place in the original movie,

The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back, and they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that’s 20 or 25 years. It’s a changed world. It’s like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don’t know how to duplicate it because it’s organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane.

As for who will end up being in the movie, Bill Pullman already confirmed his involvement, but the jury is still out on Will Smith. It's explained that the storylines will focus on a new generation of human heroes, which will include the stepson of Smith’s Independence Day character. Emmerich explains that "it’s still some of the same characters, but also new younger characters; it’s a little bit like the sons take over."

The director then goes on to say the first sequel will have a cliffhanger ending to make sure the audiences come back to see the third one.

The first one ends on a little success, but only enough to give the humans hope. And then in the second one they free themselves again [from the aliens].

It will be interesting to see how the world has rebuilt itself after 20 years. That will be an interesting vision, and I'm sure it will be fun to watch the aliens blow up all of the new national monuments and cities. I'm looking forward to seeing how these sequels turn out. It's really sounding like these movies are actually going to get made.
