Peter Jackson Says He'll Direct DOCTOR WHO For Free!

Will someone please, please let Peter Jackson direct a freakin' Doctor Who episode! He's so interested that he said he'd basically do it for free! How can you pass up an offer like that?! In a recent interview with EW the director says he met with Steven Moffat over Christmas and assured him he wasn’t joking. He explained,

They don’t even have to pay me, but I have got my eye on one of those nice new gold-colored Daleks. They must have a spare one (hint, hint).

Seriously, all he wants is a gold-colored Dalek, just give it to him, and let him direct an awesome Doctor Who episode! The article points out that Jackson already owns two Daleks from the series shown in the image above.

EW then told Moffat about Jackson's offer, but he wouldn't comment on whether he would accommodate Jackson's request.

You’d never get any information like that out of me! We’re theoretically on board for anything provided we’ve got a great story.

So if both parties are interested why don't they just strike up a deal already! Let's get this thing rolling!

Seth Rogen to Direct and Star in THE INTERVIEW with James Franco

Seth Rogen is set to co-direct and star in a new comedy for Columbia Pictures called The Interview. It looks like it will also reteam him with James Franco, who could end up in the lead role.

The two actors previously starred in Pineapple Express and the upcoming comedy This Is the End, which Rogen directed with his longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg. I've heard that This is the End is an extremely funny, irreverent movie, and has a lot of Jewish and Christian comedy in it.

Goldberg co-wrote the script for The Interview with Rogen, and he will also co-direct the movie with him as well. The studio loved what they did with This is the End, and they are excited about working with them again on this film.

According to THR the story "revolves around a handsome talk show host (potentially Franco) and his producer (Rogen) who find themselves in way over their heads when they get involved in a plot to assassinate the prime minister of North Korea."

I'm a fan of all these guys' comedy style, and this sounds like it could be another funny movie to look forward to.

Is Dwayne Johnson Going To Get a FAST AND FURIOUS Spinoff Film?

It looks like Universal Pictures is looking to take Dwayne Johnson's Fast and Furious character, DSS Agent Luke Hobbs, and give him his own spinoff film.

In a recent interview with Empire, Johnson talked about the solo film, revealing that there's a possibility it could could happen before we even see Fast and Furious 7.

[It could arrive] possibly after this one or after the next one, possibly, I’m not quite too sure. I know that’s the goal and we continue to build that character and have him take shape. But yes, I can’t wait.

It sounds like a done deal, so basically it all comes down to when it's going to happen. The character was introduced in Fast 5, and audiences seem to like him, so I'm sure a spinoff film could be pretty successful. What do you think of Johnson getting his own Fast and Furious spinoff movie?

I'm looking forward to the next movie Fast and Furious 6, which hits theaters on May 24th. It also also stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Luke Evans and Gina Carano. Here's the synopsis for it...

Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian's (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin's empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Kiefer Sutherland Cast in Paul W.S. Anderson's POMPEII

Paul W.S. Anderson has been putting together a great cast for his volcanic adventure love story Pompeii. The most recent actor to join the cast of the 3D production is Kiefer Sutherland who will be playing the villain.

The movie is set in 79 A.D. and the story plays out days before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which is one of history’s greatest disasters. The movie stars Kit Harington as a slave stuck on a ship who must race against time to save his true love, his master’s daughter, as well as his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the coliseum when the destruction begins.

Jared Harris was previously cast as Harington’s master, a wealthy merchant, and then there's the beautiful Emily Browning who will be playing his daughter. Sutherland will play a Roman senator "who enslaved Harington’s village. The scheming senator forces the merchant to give his daughter’s hand in marriage to him."

I'm not the biggest fan of Anderson's directing Style, and his use of 3D sucks. Just because he makes a lot of 3D films doesn't mean he's good at it. I like the cast he's put together for the movie though! The film is currently shooting in Toronto.

21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are hard at work bringing us the first, epic big screen adaptation of LEGO. It's called The LEGO Movie, and the studio has released the first logo for it along with a contest for LEGO fans.

The ReBrick Movie Competition allows fans to create a 15-30 second video clip based on its story, and the winning video could be featured in the film.

The film will feature the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, and Morgan Freeman. Here's the synopsis:

The film, the first-ever full length theatrical LEGO movie, follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGOminifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Here's the full press release with all of the contest details, and more story details as well. This sounds like it's going to end up being a pretty great flick! I bolded the parts with the new plot information.

Beginning March 25, LEGO fans registered worldwide on http://rebrick.com will have a one-of-a-kind, hands-on opportunity to take part in the growing excitement for “THE LEGO MOVIE” by creating a 15-30 second video clip based on its story, in the LEGO ReBrick Movie Competition. The winning video could be featured in the film, the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, opening February 7, 2014.

The fan-produced clips will relate to an exciting scene in the film, in which the citizens of the LEGO universe rally to prevent an unspeakable disaster. They do this by quickly disassembling the elements of their environments, brick by brick, and rebuilding them into fantastic and fun hybrid vehicles and tools—the stranger and more innovative, the better, like rocket/dragons or butterfly/speedboats—to take part in an epic battle.

Using only LEGO bricks and non-licensed LEGO minifigures, contestants will select a character and set their action sequence in one of their favorite LEGO worlds, such as LEGO City, Space, Pirates, Western, Vikings, Dino, Castle, and others. After building and recording their LEGO designs, they will upload the video to YouTube, and bookmark it on the rebrick.com Building Challenge page, where it will be open for voting from the entire ReBrick membership. The 25 videos earning the most “Likes” will ultimately be reviewed for creativity, originality, theme and suitability for the film by a panel of judges, including Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, writers/directors of “THE LEGO MOVIE.”

The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, for a VIP Tour; a meeting with the directors, to participate in a LEGO build; an exclusive LEGO film camera designed and built by the official LEGO model shop; plus souvenir WARNER BROS. PICTURES items from the movie’s set, signed by the designers. His or her winning entry may also be edited into the film’s big battle sequence.

Second and third place winners will also be honored, as well as winners of bi-weekly prizes selected during the challenge’s six-week run, for a range of additional prizes, including tickets to the Studio’s tour, “THE LEGO MOVIE” merchandise, a $200 gift card for the Studio’s online store, and a feature spot on The Official LEGO Channel on YouTube.

All entrants must be at least 16 years old and be registered on the LEGO fansite http://rebrick.com. Submissions will be accepted from March 25, 2013, at 9:00 A.M., until May 6, 2013, at 8:59 A.M., EDT. Videos must be between 15-30 seconds and be captured using a camera that is at least 3.2 megapixels, and framed to fit within a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. Submissions must contain only LEGO elements and figures with no customized parts, must follow the ReBrick House Rules, and must be suitable for children.

Local regulations and complete prizing information can be found on the Contest Rules page at http://rebrick.it/Contest, with additional guidelines, examples and updates available at microsite http://rebrick.it/LEGOMovie. Winners will be announced on May 20, 2013.

“THE LEGO MOVIE” opens in theaters February 7, 2014. The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

“THE LEGO MOVIE” stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Morgan Freeman as the voices of the animated characters. Trailer for WE STEAL SECRETS: THE STORY OF WIKILEAKS

Here's the trailer for the documentary We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks. It comes from documentarian Alex Gibney (FreakonomicsTaxi to the Dark SideEnron: The Smartest Guys in the Room), and it tells the story of Julian Assange who ended up publishing state and military secrets on his online portal WikiLeaks. It looks incredibly intense and interesting. Here's the synopsis...

Filmed with the startling immediacy of unfolding history, Academy Award-winning director Alex Gibney’s We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks is a riveting, multi-layered tale about transparency in the information age and our ever-elusive search for the truth. Detailing the creation of Julian Assange’s controversial website, which facilitated the largest security breach in U.S. history, the film charts the enigmatic Assange’s rise and fall in parallel with that of Pfc. Bradley Manning, the brilliant, troubled young soldier who downloaded hundreds of thousands of documents from classified U.S. military and diplomatic servers.

There's another movie based on Assange coming out later this year called The Fifth Estate, which was directed by Bill Condon and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the WikiLeaks founder.

Great Teaser Trailer for Sundance Favorite THE KINGS OF SUMMER

One of our favorite films that we saw up at Sundance earlier this year was a film called Toy's House, the title of which has since been changed to The Kings of Summer. This movie seemed to hit a cord with everyone who saw it, I have yet to see or hear anyone say anything bad about it. It's just a classic coming of age film that everyone can enjoy.

Ben wrote up a great review for us and he ended up getting quoted in the teaser, which is pretty cool. You can read his review for the film here, and watch our video review here. Here's a little excerpt from Ben's review,

Toy's House is an instant classic, a comedic story that kids can learn from, and a movie that will likely hold up as a twist on a modern version of an Amblin movie. They don't make 'em like this anymore, and that's why this is one of the best movies of Sundance 2013.

Here's the synopsis:

Premiering to rave reviews at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, THE KINGS OF SUMMER is a unique coming-of-age comedy about three teenage friends – Joe (Nick Robinson), Patrick (Gabriel Basso) and the eccentric and unpredictable Biaggio (Moises Arias) – who, in the ultimate act of independence, decide to spend their summer building a house in the woods and living off the land. Free from their parents’ rules, their idyllic summer quickly becomes a test of friendship as each boy learns to appreciate the fact that family – whether it is the one you’re born into or the one you create – is something you can’t run away from.

The movie stars Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie and Mary Lynn Rajskub, and it comes out on May 31st. It's definitely worth checking out when you get a chance! Check out the trailer!

Antoine Fuqua to Direct Denzel Washington in THE EQUALIZER

The last thing we heard on this movie was that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt might end up replacing Nicolas Winding Refn as the director for the big screen adaptation of of the 1980s TV series The Equalizer. Well now according to Deadline it's looking like Training Day director Antoine Fuqua is going to be taking it on.

This would reteam him with Denzel Washington who is attached to star in the movie as the main character Robert McCall, a former spy turned private detective. Fuqua is a talented director, and it would be cool to see these two guys work their movie making magic again. Fuqua's latest film Olympus Has Fallen comes out this weekend.

Robert McCall is a tough-as-nails, no-BS private eye who went into business for himself after leaving the shadowy agency he once worked for. McCall works on behalf of those whose problems the police cannot - or will not - get involved in. His card reads, 'Got a problem? Odds against you? Need help? Call - The Equalizer'. Through 4 seasons, Robert McCall went up against some of the worst elements that New York City had - including gangs, mobsters, crooked cops, vigilantes, stalkers and even psychopathic stockbrokers.

Hopefully they're able to turn this into a solid movie!

New Trailer for the CG Animated Adventure EPIC

Here's another trailer for 20th Century Fox's upcoming CG animated adventure Epic. This latest trailer spotlights the voices that you'll be hearing in the film, and those voices include Beyonce Knowles, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Blake Anderson, and Judah Friedlander. This is a movie that the kids will enjoy, not sure how it will play for adults though. I'll take my kids to see it, but it looks like a mediocre film.

Epic tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and the forces of evil. When a teen age girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world...and ours.

The film will be released on May 24th, 2013. Check out the new trailer below!

Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, and John Hurt Join HERCULES

Brett Ratner is gathering together his supporting cast for his upcoming Hercules film that star Dwayne Johnson in the title role. It's now being reported that Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, and John Hurt have also joined the cast which also includes Aksel Hennie and Rufus Sewell.

The film is being described as a "more grounded approach to the classic Greek hero and ditches the supernatural. Hercules is portrayed not as the son of Zeus but rather a mortal with a fearsome reputation. He leads a team of mercenaries on a job where all is ominously not what it appears."

McShane landed a nice part in the film and will play Amphiarus, "part priest, part prophet and part warrior who is Hercules’ counselor." There's no word on who the other new actors will play.

The movie has a pretty solid cast, unfortunately it's being directed by Ratner. The movie is based on the Radical Studios graphic novel.

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell to Star in WELCOME TO ME

Kristen Wiig is currently in talks to reteam with her Anchorman: The Legend Continues co-star Will Ferrell in a new comedy called Welcome To Me. Ferrell is producing the film alongside Adam McKay whose wife Shira Piven (Fully Loaded) is set to direct the comedy.

The film seems like the perfect gig for Wiig. The story follows a "woman with dissociative personality disorder who wins the lottery and decides to spend her winnings on a cable access talk show about her life." The script for the film comes from former staff writer of the The Big Gay Sketch Show, Eliot Laurence.

Wiig is one of the funniest female comedic actresses working right now, and I hope she ends up doing this one. Thanks to the success of Silver Linings Playbook, I think we're going to start seeing a lot of these mental illness dramedies popping up.

First Look at Bald Christian Bale in David O. Russell's New Film

Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell is already hard at work directing his next feature film in Boston. We've already got our first look at the great ensemble cast which includes a bald Christian Bale rocking a terrible combover, Bradley Cooper doing some kind of perm thing, Jeremy Renner sporting another crazy hairdo, and Amy Adams as a Van Halen fan. Gotta love the '70s. The movie also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Dawn Olivieri, and Thomas Matthes.

The movie is set in the 1970s and the is based on the true story of an FBI sting Operation called Abscam which invlolved a notorious financial con artist (Bale) and his partner (Adams). They were forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. They helped take down some U.S. Congressmen. The corruption case initially targeted trafficking in stolen property but was converted to a public corruption investigation that stretched from Atlantic City to Washington, DC. Renner plays the New Jersey state assembly leader, the center of the story, who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden.

The movie hits theaters later this year on December 13th, 2013, and I'm looking forward to it. I love Russell's films.

New Trailer for Ryan Gosling's THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES

Here's another trailer for Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper's new drama thriller The Place Behind the Pines, which comes from director Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine). It looks like a solid movie. Cianfrance is an intense writer and director. I watched Blue Valentine again recently, and it depressed the hell out of me.

The Place Beyond the Pines revolves around "a professional motorcycle rider (Gosling) who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son, but when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Cooper) their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud." It's also been described as "a rich dramatic thriller, tracing the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villains."

It has a great supporting cast that includes Greta Gerwig, Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, Ali Mahershalalhasbaz, Gabe FazioMax Martini, and Emory Cohen

On a side note, Gosling also talked with the The Huffington Post recently and revealed that he'll be taking a break from acting saying,

I’ve been doing it too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.

The Place Beyond the Pines opens in theaters on March 29th, 2013. Check out the latest trailer!

He departs with his Olympian sidekicks Annabeth Chase, daughter of the goddess Athena, and Jackson's protective goat-like satyr Grover.

Aquaman Actor Cast as Raphael in New NINJA TURTLES Movie

The first Ninja Turtle has officially been cast along side Megan Fox in the Jonathan Liebesman-directed film that's being produced by Michael Bay. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire co-star Alan Ritchson will be taking on the role of Raphael in the movie. This is the same actor that played Aquaman in Smallville

It really doesn't matter what the actors for the Turtles look like because they will be shot using motion capture technology like Avatar and Tintin. The actors are basically being cast for their voice.

The movie is set to be released on May 16th, 2014, and they will be shooting on a budget of about $125 million.

The movie will use the same martial arts fighting style that we saw in The Raid, which is cool. All we can hope for at this point is that they've got a solid story and script that the fans are going to enjoy.

Here's an awesome bit of surprising Marvel casting news! Legendary actor and filmmaker Robert Redford is currently in talks to join the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed Marvel film Captain America: The Winter Soldier

According to the report Redford is in talks to play a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D., which is the government organization run by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. I'm sure he'll be awesome in it.

I didn't see this casting happening at all... I mean, it's Robert Redford! I just never thought he'd jump in on a Marvel film, or another other superhero movie for that matter. The next film you'll see Redford in is his The Company You Keep, which stars Shia La Beouf, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Sam Elliott, Brit Marling, and Chris Cooper.

The actor joins Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon and Frank Grillo as Crossbones, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Scarlett Johansson, and Cobie Smulders

The film arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on April 4th, 2014. Do you think Redford will fit in with the Marvel Universe?
