Anchor Bay has released a short eerie new clip from Rob Zombie's next horror movie The Lords of Salem. Nothing too crazy going on hear just Sheri Moon Zombie walking through a creepy hallway, but it gives us a little taste of what the vibe of the movie will be. Judging from the trailer, it looks like it could get crazy. Here's the synopsis...

Heidi, a radio station DJ, receives a wooden box containing a record. Heidi listens and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem?

Anchor Bay purchased the film at the Toronto Film Festival for about $2 million. It also stars Bruce Davison, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, and Judy Geeson. The movie hits theaters on April 19th.

Disney Working on OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL Sequel

I absolutely loved Sam Raimi's Oz The Great and Powerful, and I was really hoping that we'd see a sequel happen! I'm happy to say that it is! Mitchell Kapner, co-writer from the first film, has started working on the script for the sequel. Obviously not much is known about the story other than it will take place in Oz.

According to Variety, "Kapner can work with what’s featured in L. Frank Baum’s novel 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,' which is public domain. But he can’t use any of the iconic creative additions from the original film — Dorothy’s ruby slippers, for example — as Warner Bros. owns the 1939 film."

So he still has a lot to work with, and it will be interesting if they tell a different story in Oz that doesn't involve Dorothy yet. The studio is looking to move on the project fast, but as of right now there's no word if Raimi will be back to direct it. I sure hope he does! This movie was a Sam Raimi film wrapped in a Disney movie. He did such a great job with it! I imagine that James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams will all be back to reprise their roles, but that has yet to be seen.

After you see the movie let us know if this is something you'd like to see happen or not. I know I do!

Trailer for the Halloween Themed Film GROW UP, TONY PHILLIPS

I'm a huge fan of Halloween, it's probably my favorite holiday of the year, but I don't take it as far as Tony Phillips. This is the first trailer for a coming-of-age dramady called Grow Up, Tony Phillips from the director of My Sucky Teen Romance, Emily Hagins. You see, Tony Philips takes Halloween to a whole new level. His life basically revolves around it, and almost everyone around him thinks it's time for him to grow up.

It looks like a solidly fun film. It's set to premiere at this year's SXSW, and here's the synopsis...

Who doesn't love Halloween? All of Tony Phillips' (Tony Vespe) high school friends, apparently. It's senior year and they've now decided that they're too cool for Halloween. When his older cousin (AJ Bowen) returns home right before the holiday, Tony starts to wonder if he really is the dork everyone thinks he is, or if he's just ahead of the curve.

I found the trailer over at AICN, and The Kidd says that it's "probably worth a watch for any of us out there that were ever told we should grow up and put away childish things, because that's not what responsible adults do. Fuck those people." Enjoy the trailer!

CATCHING FIRE - Gale, Finnick and Peeta Victory Posters

The Capitol has been releasing Victory Portraits over the last week for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and today we have a couple new ones featuring Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne and Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair. What's interesting about this poster is that the character doesn't have any connection to any previous games.

We've already seen Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, Jennifer Lawrence as KatnissWoody Harrelson's Haymitch Abernathy, Lenny Kravitz's Cinna, Jenna Malone as Johanna Mason, and Jeffrey Wright as Beetee.

We'll continue posting these victory portraits as they become available. The movie will be released in theaters and IMAX on November 22nd, 2013.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark.   Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts.  Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.

The movie was directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Meta Golding, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, Maria Howell, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Sam Claflin, and Jeffrey Wright.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS - More Spoiler Details Revealed

Apparently there was a press screening in Brazil for Star Trek Into Darkness. 38 minutes of the film was shown, and a Brazilian site Judao.com (via Trek Movie) put together a detailed list of what they saw, and they contain spoilers. So if you don't want to know anything I wouldn't keep reading. It contains some major plot points in the film, but nothing about the ending.

If you want to check it out... here it is!

"Nibiru mission ends with Kirk rescuing Spock by violating the prime directive by revealing the Enterprise to Nibiru natives so he can beam Spock out of the Volcano

Kirk has a scene in bed (back in San Francisco) in bed with two "cat women"

Kirk makes mention of hoping to get assigned to a "five year mission" (implying that the famed five year mission hasn’t started yet for the time he has been captain)

Kirk is demoted for violating prime directive on Nibiru, loses command of Enterprise with Pike to take over command Kirk as first officer

Pike wanted to send Kirk back to Academy but was convinced (possibly ordered?) to make Kirk first officer of Enterprise by Admiral Marcus (played by Peter Weller)

Spock assigned to another ship

The "father" character uses his Starfleet ring as a bomb (dropping it into water for a reaction) and destroys a facility (in London)

London attack leads to big meeting of Starfleet captains which itself is attacked by John Harrison, resulting in Pike being injured…Harrison transport away

Later scenes in the film….

Enterprise severely damaged falling to Earth with Spock in command ordering evacuation

Kirk and Scott seen in Engineering trying to stabilize ship

Later Spock scene beaming down to San Francisco and starting long chase with Harrions

Eventually Spock meets up with Harrison and engages in a fight"

Whats the one thing that stuck out most for you? I can't get over the Cat Women thing.

MONSTERS UNIVERSITY - Japanese Trailer Reveals New Story Elements

You might not understand what's being said in this new international trailer for Monster University because it's all in Japanese, but it's easy to pick out some of the new story elements revealed in the film through the new footage it contains. It basically shows us more of the deeper, emotional side of the movie that will mostly center on Mike Wazowski's character. It features Mike as a little kid taking a field trip to Monsters Inc. which basically inspired him to go to Monsters University, which leads him to his job at Monsters Inc. This is actually a really great trailer, I hope you like it!

Monsters University opens on June 21st, 2013! Enjoy!

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”).

Cool Pixar Style STAR WARS Poster

Here's a fun Pixar style Star Wars poster that was created by Phil Postma. This is the same guy that brought us those great sets of Superhero Pixar art and Star Trek Pixar art.

It would be fun to see Pixar take on an animated style Star Wars film. I could easily see something like that happening. If not Pixar, I'm sure Disney Animation will eventually do something. I'm sure it's one of the many things they've talked about.

Gamer Hacks an NES Console to Remove Annoying Co-Workers from Office

Are you a gamer that’s stuck in their 9-to-5 constantly thinking about getting home to get some games in, meanwhile someone keeps coming into your office to annoy you? Well, you are not alone in the least bit.

Mark Rober, a very popular YouTube-r with over 9 million views, is just like you. So he decided to take his already gaming-focused office up to the next level, by hacking an NES console into a countdown clock. The countdown clock is for the sole purpose of giving that person who comes into your office a limited amount of time before they need to get the hell out.

Basically it works like this:

  1. Co-worker comes into your office and the countdown clock on the NES is activated via motion sensor.
  2. As the time progresses, the old school Super Mario theme song plays in the background.
  3. When there are 100 seconds left, the Super Mario “fast” music starts (you know, the music you would hear when you are about to run out of time in the game).
  4. As soon as the time is up, the Super Mario death music plays and your co-worker needs to get the hell out of your office.

Sure, this is almost pointless to really do. Only because you could just as easily tell a person to leave. But for the simple novelty of this hack, it’s pretty awesome. What’s even greater is that you can swap out the Mario music with whatever music you want thanks to an SD card slot that was built into it.

If you are thinking about building one of these for yourself, you can  download the code and other files over at Dropbox. Then you can get a full list of required parts over at the Adafruit website

New Trailer for TO THE WONDER with Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams

I'll be damned, did Terrence Malick just make a movie that I can actually relate to? I'm not the biggest fan of the films that Malick has made because I normally don't really relate to them, and most of the time the movies are gibberish to me. But it looks like his next film To The Wonder will be a beautifully shot film that I will connect with. Long story short, relationships are freakin' hard, and it looks like a story that anyone who's been in love can relate to. It stars Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel McAdams, and Javier Bardem.

The story follows Marina (Kurylenko) and Neil (Affleck), a couple who meet in France and move to Oklahoma to start a life together. While there problems start to arise. Marina ends up meeting a priest and fellow exile (Bardem) who's struggling with his vocation, and Neil renews a relationship with a childhood sweetheart, Jane (McAdams).

The movie is set to be released on April 12th, 2013. For anyone looking for an intense drama about the challenges of love here ya go...

Bryan Singer Gives Update on TWILIGHT ZONE Series Reboot

Late last year it was announced that Bryan Singer would be developing a new TV series reboot of The Twilight Zone. We've heard virtually nothing on the project since it was announced because he's obviously been busy putting together X-Men: Days of Future Past. Singer is an executive producer and that last we heard he was looking for a writer. But he recently talked to IGN about the series and he offered up a little update saying,

It'll be a little slower in process because of where I'm at with this film [X-Men: Days of Future Past], but it's definitely something I'm passionate about. You know it's always a challenge with anthology television shows because you don't have a standing cast, so you're always recasting. And you're always finding new locations and environments to serve the different stories. But I'm anxious to figure out the right way to do it because I love anthologies. I love anthology movies and anthology television shows. I'm very passionate about it and some of those stories I think are worth revisiting now. And there are ways that they can be treated now, they can be scarier than they were then and also they can be much more visual because we have more technology. Back then you were shooting on the back lot or out west and now you can pull off a lot more for television. So I'm really looking forward to getting into it. There's writer that I just got involved in it. I don't want to say who it is yet because we have to make a deal, but somebody I enjoy working with. So that's coming together right now, actually. So yeah, I'm into it.

I love how much he's excited about the project! I really hope he does a good job with it. There's a lot of potential with a series like this, and it could be great. Hopefully they are also able to tell some great new fun and creepy original stories. I really don't want it to be a remake of every Twilight Zone episode from the original masterpiece. That would be kind of pointless don't you think?

Joss Whedon on S.H.I.E.L.D., Hulk, and DC Movie Universe

Of course, no matter where Joss Whedon goes or who he talks to, everyone is going to want to know about what's going on in Marvel's cinematic universe. In a recent interview with Deadline the director talked about a few of the hot topics surrounding Marvel. He discusses his work on S.H.I.E.L.D., his consulting gig, the Hulk solo movie, and even talks about what he thinks of DC's movie universe. There's nothing really new or revealing here, but I think it's fun reading his interviews. Here what ha had to say about...

His S.H.I.E.L.D. TV Series:

That was fun to do, but again, too much work. The idea of the Little Guy is something that I am very fierce about, and there has never been a better Little Guy than Clark Gregg. That intrigued me, this world around the superhero community. It’s the people whose shop windows get blown up when the Destroyer shows up. It’s the more intimate stories that belong on television that we can really tap into the visual style and ethos, and even some of the mythology, of the Marvel movies. I think we’ve put together another really great ensemble headed by Clark. And how much it’s actually seeding or hinting or reacting to what’s going on in the movies is something we’ll let play out as we go. For me the most important thing is that people fall in love with it on its own merits, rather than constantly asking, “Is there gonna be an Avenger?” Well, there’s not gonna be a Hulk because that guy’s too expensive.

I will be as involved as I can be – mostly on a story level. On the TV show I can say, “No, do it my way.” I’m just trying to keep it exciting and meaningful and surprising.

His Marvel Consulting Gig:

I understand what Kevin [Feige] is going for and where he’s heading, and I read the scripts and watch cuts and talk to the directors and writers and give my opinion. Occasionally there could be some writing. But I’m not trying to get in anybody’s soup, I’m just trying to be helpful. Every time you work on a project it’s a little vacation from the project you’re working on the other 23 hours. That’s the thing – it replenishes you to do something else. And they’re very aware that if I’m too tired or busy to help with anything, that’s fine. But if I can help and not get in the way of the actual filmmakers, that’s what I’m going to do.

A Solo Hulk Movie:

The Hulk is the most difficult Marvel property because it’s always about balance. Is he a monster? Is he a hero? Are you going to root for a protagonist who spends all his time trying to stop the reason you came to the movie from happening? It’s always a dance. I don’t think the first two movies nailed it, but I don’t envy them the task. It was easier to have him in a group than to build everything around him. I don’t think there would be any problem getting a movie together that had enough Banner, even if there was also Hulk. But if he was only Hulk for the entire movie I think Mark [Ruffalo] at some point would go, why am I here? I would be less inclined to pursue a storyline where the Hulk is only ever the Hulk. Mark [Ruffalo] and I loved the Hulk and went over and over the concept of rage and how it should manifest, and that part of it was fascinating to both of us. But when it comes time for the Hulk he has to put on the silliest damn pajamas you ever saw, a tiara made of balls, and a bunch of dots on his face and growl around like an idiot. The real heart of the experience ultimately becomes playing Banner. And people fell in love with Banner because I think Mark has you from the first time he shows up.

The DC Cinematic Universe:

I don’t keep that close an eye on it. But I loved Batman Begins so much and thought Christopher Nolan nailed Batman in a way that nobody ever had. It couldn’t be more different from The Avengers, and the Marvel and DC universes are different animals. If they actually crack the code which has not been done in terms of creating a shared sensibilities where all the movies are interesting and come together, I’m going to be thrilled. I have no fear that we’re going to be stepping on each others’ turf.

It’s not easy. It’s not a simple trick. The Marvel properties with the exception of Batman who has often been described as the Marvel character in the DC universe are much easier to translate to a modern audience. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern are so far above us and their powers are amorphous and that makes it 10 times harder. Even when you’re doing a fight, it’s harder to write a fight for Thor than it is for Captain America because he’s that much stronger. I loved what I was doing on Wonder Woman. Clearly I was an excited party of one. I wrote the movie, I felt good about the characters, the structure needed work, I did another outline, they read it and were done. There wasn’t even a phone call.

Whedon landed a great gig at Marvel, and it's exciting to hear about and see the things he's working on!

Here's a retro 1977 news report from an Indianapolis news station. It's a fun clip that features Stan Lee hanging out with fans, signing autographs, and talking to a reporter about the superheroes that he's created. It's even got a couple of guys dressed up in Spider-Man and Captain America costumes. The video is kind of like taking a trip back in time. I mean hell, I wasn't even born when this video was shot! Near the end the reporter announces that a Spider-Man movie is coming soon, with Lee as an associate producer. It obviously took an extremely long time to get that movie made! It sat in development hell forever! Enjoy the video!

Sam Raimi Finally Sees THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

It seems that so many people have been asking Sam Raimi if he's seen Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man that he finally buckled down and watched it! He previously shared his thoughts on why he hadn't seen it yet, but now that he has... this is what he thought of the movie,

It was very hard for me to see the new Spider-Man movie, I felt so attached to it, I couldn’t see Spider-Man with another director; it’s like my love, and I didn’t want to walk in on my love with someone else. It was just like that. Then I got over myself last week and said, ‘just see the damn thing’. And I did, and I loved it. I actually felt free. I thought, ‘why am I carrying around this baggage?’ Of course the next Spider-Man story should be told, and [Marc Webb] did a wonderful job telling that. I loved the movie, and I’m looking forward like a fan to the next installment. I love the comic book, and now I don’t feel bound, and I’m really glad somebody’s remaking it again.

It's cool to see that he liked it. I really enjoyed it myself, and I'm excited for the sequel that's currently being made. I also loved Raimi's Oz The Great and Powerful, and I'm excited to see what he ends up doing next!

THE BLING RING Teaser Shows Emma Watson's Bad Girl Side

This is the first teaser trailer for Sophia Coppola's latest film The Bling Ring, which shows us the bad girl side of Emma Watson. The movie is based on the true story of a group of six teenagers who stole from celebrities in the Los Angeles area from 2009-2010, stealing over $3 million in worth of goods. Some of the scenes in the movie were actually filmed in the homes of the actual victims such as Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Megan Fox, and Orlando BloomParis Hilton, was also a victim, and will have a cameo role. Other victims included Kirsten Dunst and Gavin Rossdale. The film was inspired by the Vanity Fair story, The Suspects Wore Louboutins. Here's the synopsis:

THE BLING RING shows a group of teenagers obsessed with fashion and fame who burglarized the homes of celebrities in Los Angeles. Tracking their targets’ whereabouts online, the teens would break-in and steal designer clothes and possessions. Reflecting on the naiveté of youth, amplified by today’s culture of celebrity and luxury brand obsession, the members of the Bling Ring introduce us to temptations that nearly any teenager would find hard to resist. What starts out as youthful fun spins out of control and reveals a sobering view of our modern culture.

I like the films that Coppola makes, she's a talented writer and director, and I'm looking forward to this one. It also stars Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Pfister, Georgia RockCarlos Miranda, and Leslie Mann. The movie is set to be released on July 14th, 2013.

Disney has released a great little King of Kong-style mockumentary called Garlan Hulse: Where Potential Lives. It follows the rise and fall of one time Fix-It Felix Jr. high score champion Garlan Hulse, his fall into obscurity, and his attempt to reclaim his spot as the Fix-It Felix Jr. high score champion. Director Rich Moore takes us through the story, and I think it proved to be pretty entertaining, so I hope you enjoy it. Wreck-It Ralph will be released on Blu-ray and DVD this week!

First Clip From Danny Boyle's TRANCE - Exciting 2-Minute Art Heist

Check out this awesome first clip from Danny Boyle's Trance, which shows us an intense art heist that's pulled off in less than two minutes. James McAvoy plays an auctioneer in the story who is in league with a gang of thieves led by Vincent Cassel. Rosario Dawson plays a hypnotherapist who is brought in to help recover a lost painting. Of course things go very wrong for McAvoy.

The film has been described as having the same dark, sexy, hard-edged tone of Boyle's other films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. It really looks like a fantastic film, and I'm excited to see it! To watch the trailer for the film click here. Here's the synopsis:

Fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious.

In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly – and perhaps shrewdly – to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

Unable to coerce the painting’s location from Simon, Franck and his associates reluctantly join forces with a charismatic hypnotherapist (Dawson) in a bid to get him to talk. But as they journey deeper into Simon’s jumbled psyche the boundaries between reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur and the stakes rise faster and far more dangerously than any of the players could have anticipated.

The movie hits theaters on April 5th, 2013. Hope you enjoy the clip! I've also included some character posters.

Sam Raimi May Not Direct OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL Sequel

$

Yesterday it was revealed that Disney is already working on developing a sequel to Oz The Great and Powerful. They've already got a writer working on the script. I was hoping that Sam Raimi would come back to direct, he did such an incredible job with this first movie, but unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen. When asked about it in a recent interview with Hey U Guys the director said...

I don’t really have a plan to direct the sequel. I’ve put into the picture one or two loose ends in case another director wants to make the picture. If Disney made a lot of money and the audience really wanted to see one then they would make one, but I was attracted to it because of the story of the growth of this human being, and I don’t think the second one would have the thing I would need to get me interested, but I couldn’t speak about what would take place in it.

Now just because he has no plans on directing it now doesn't mean there won't be plans in the future. If the story for the sequel is something he feels he can take on maybe it will happen. I guess we'll see. If he doesn't return, it really won't be the same without him. Either way, I'm always excited to see a Sam Raimi film, so I'm looking forward to whatever he does next, Oz movie or not!
