Will GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Be an Animated Movie?

0
0

The road to Ghostbusters 3 has been long and treacherous. Dan Aykroyd is sure that it's going to eventually happen, and Bill Murray doesn't want to have anything to do with it. So if it does end up happening, it's going to be without Murray, which just seems wrong on every level. I really don't want to see a sequel without him.

The project just seems to be stuck in development hell, but according to Bloody-Disgusting, Sony and Columbia Pictures are now considering bringing it to life on the big screen as an animated movie! This isn't the first i time the studio has wanted to do this. They were looking to do this back in 2007, and that eventually resulted in the incredibly fun 2009 video game.

I actually wouldn't really mind seeing an animated Ghostbusters movie. I'm a big fan of animation, and I think it could end up being a pretty awesome production if they do it right. They might even be able to get Murray back to at least voice the character like he did for the video game.

At this point I won't be disappointed if we never see another Ghostbusters film. I'll be shocked if it ends up happening at this point. But if it does, would you be interested in seeing it as an animated feature?

Awesome Trailer For James Wan's Horror Film THE CONJURING

I got my first look at director James Wan's new horror film The Conjuring at New York Comic-Con last year, and I absolutely loved what I saw! This movie is going to scare the hell out of a lot of people, and horror fans are going to love it! I'm a big fan of the horror genre, and this movie, which is based on a true story, has got that classic ghost story, haunted house feel to it that is meant to screw with your head a freak you the hell out! I'm so excited about this movie, and we finally have a trailer for it that you've got to watch!

The movie also has an incredible cast of actors that includes Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver, and Sterling Jerins. Here's the synopsis!

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The movie is set to haunt theaters on July 19th, 2013, now watch the trailer!

Chris Cooper to Play Norman Osborn in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2!

I honestly didn't think there would be anymore room for another villain in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Electro, The Rhino, and possibly Black Cat. But it's been reported that Chris Cooper has been cast as Noman Osborn a.k.a. The Green Goblin in the movie! There's no word on if The Green Goblin will be featured in the sequel, but it's safe to say at this point that it's something they are leading up to. I imagine it will end up leading us into the third film. As you know, Osborn starts out as a mentor to Peter Parker before becoming a villain.

I freakin' love Cooper as an actor, and I couldn't be happier that he's been cast as this character in the movie! He's perfect for the part, and he's going to be awesome! The character was previously played by Willem Dafoe, who was also amazing in the Sam Raimi films. What do you think of Cooper taking on this role?

Cooper joins Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Martin Sheen, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giammatti, Felicity Jones, and Colm Feore, and it hits theaters on May 2nd, 2014. Here's the synopsis...

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

WONDER WOMAN Fights Nazis in Fan Made Action Short

Here's a fun fan made Wonder Woman action short film featuring the classic DC character taking on the Nazis. The short was directed by stuntman Jesse V. Johnson, so you will see some pretty cool stunt work in the short. He's worked on such films as Planet of the Apes, Avatar, Tin Tin, Thor, and Spider-Man

Johnson is looking to make the leap into directing feature films, and thought it would be cool to make a Wonder Woman proof of concept trailer. Here's what he had to say in a statement to Latino-Review,

It was my manager / producing partner Kailey Marsh’s idea to shoot the trailer.  She really believes I should be a studio director, and thought shooting Wonder Woman would be a great way to show off my skills in a fun way that people could get excited about.

It has some cool moments, and I like the tone and the setting. It's simply a fun short, and there's a lot of work that went into making it. Check it out and tell us know what you think!

Ron Livingston Joins HBO's BOARDWALK EMPIRE!

Ron Livingston (Office Space) is one of those actors that we just don't see enough of. He's completely underrated and should be in more movies. For all of you who enjoy Livingston's work, you'll be happy to hear that he's been cast as a regular in the upcoming fourth season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire

According to Deadline he will play Roy Phillips, "a wealthy out-of-town businessman who catches the eye of Gillian Darmody [played by Gretchen Mol]."

Livingston's next film is a really great looking supernatural horror thriller called The Conjuring, which looks creepy as hell.

Boardwalk Empire has been one of my favorite shows since it started, and I'm looking forward to seeing where they end up taking the story next season!

More MAN OF STEEL Movie Buzz! "Superman Kicking All Kinds of Ass!"

0
0

Earlier this month a screening of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel was held for executives, and according to reports they loved what they saw and they're very excited for it! Thanks to friends at JoBlo we have some more exciting buzz about the movie to share with you! If everyone that's seen this movie is right, Man of Steel could end up being the best movie of the year!

There really hasn't been a lot revealed in the trailers that we've seen, but there's a reason for that. They are saving the best stuff for the movie--some of which I'm sure we'll see the closer we get to the release date. Here are some thoughts on the film from someone who got a chance to see it on the Warner Bros. studio lot...

- Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action.
- It's the best movie of the year.
- There's TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of ass in his suit.
- The cape is CG'd most of the time so it can look awesome.
- They have intentionally left out most of the Super action in trailers to save it.
- It's not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.

- The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place.

I am so happy to hear that there is going to be a ton of badass action in this movie! I've always wanted to see Superman really go out and kick some ass, and it looks like that's exactly what we're going to get! I can't freakin' wait!

The movie stars Henry CavillAmy AdamsMichael ShannonKevin CostnerRussell CroweLaurence FishburneChristopher Meloni, and Diane Lane. It will be flying into theaters on June 14th, 2013, and hopefully it's as amazing as everyone is saying it is!

I love coming across cool new stuff for Stanely Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining, which is hands down one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Here's a couple of great new fan posters created for the film that I thought would be worth sharing with you. The first poster above is my favorite, and it was created by Fernando Reza, and the two below were created by Abbas Mushtaq and Derek Eads respectively.

There's a new documentary coming out soon on the movie called Room 237, and if you're a fan of the movie you have to watch it! It will blow your mind! To check out the trailer for that click here

New Full Trailer for Disney's PLANES

0
0

A couple of months ago it was announced that Disney Cars spin-off film Planes would be getting a theatrical release instead of going straight to Blu-ray/DVD, which was the original plan. A new full trailer has been released for the movie, and it looks like it could be fun. It's definitely got a generic feel to it, but the children of the world will definitely enjoy it. Lets' face it, that's the target audience for this movie.

The movie was produced by DisneyToon Studios and was directed by Klay Hall. Pixar animation doesn't have anything to do with this one. The movie stars Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), and here's the synopsis...

From high above the world of Cars, flies Planes, Disney’s upcoming animated action-packed comedic adventure starring Dusty, a big-hearted, fast-flying crop duster who dreams of competing in the most exhilarating around-the-world air race in history. There’s only a couple of not-so-small problems – Dusty is not exactly built for racing and he also happens to be afraid of heights.

Despite his fear and with encouragement from his mentor, a naval aviator named Skipper, Dusty narrowly qualifies for the big competition. Dusty’s sportsmanship and speed begin to rattle the defending champ of the race circuit, Ripslinger, who will stop at nothing to see Dusty fail.

When disaster strikes during the climax of the final race, Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test. With the support of friends old and new, Dusty reaches heights he never dreamed possible and in the process, gives a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

The movie is set to be released on August 9th, 2013.

Two New OBLIVION Posters with Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman

We've got two new posters to share with you for Joseph Kosinski's cool looking sci-fi action thriller Oblivion. The movie stars Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenka, Morgan FreemanAndrea RiseboroughNikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Melissa Leo. The posters give us more of that post-apocalyptic film setting. I'm looking forward to this, I enjoyed Kosiniski's Tron: Legacy, and I'm hoping this one turns out even better.

Here's the synopsis...

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion hits theaters on April 19th, with an exclusive run on IMAX hitting a week before.

CG Audrey Hepburn Used For UK Chocolate Ad

Iconic actress Audrey Hepburn has been resurrected to sell Galaxy chocolate in the UK. This CG creation looks shockingly accurate to the actual actress, who passed away in 1993. The ad, which contains several nods to Hepburn's acting career ("Moon River" playing in the background for example), has been met with some controversy amongst viewers. There are some camps that believe the ad to be distasteful and insulting to her legacy despite the blessing from Hepburn's sons and estate. I personally think it's really cool, but then again I'm not that big of a Hepburn fan.

Great Trailer for CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2!

The first trailer has been released for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, and it looks like another fun movie! I thought the first movie was great, it exceeded my expectations and entertained the hell out of me and my kids. The sequel looks like it's going to be equally as awesome!

It's always been Flint's dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine -- which turns water into food -- is still operating and is now creating mutant food beasts. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world... again!

The sequel was directed by Cody Cameron (story artist on ShrekSurf’s Up, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) and Kris Pearn (head of story on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs). It stars the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, and Kristen Schaal and is set to be released on September 27th, 2013. Check out the trailer!

Thrilling Dark Comedy Short VALIBATION

0
0

Here's a fantastically crazy short film called Valibation, which was written, directed, and edited by Todd Strauss-Schulson. This was one of Todd's first films before he went on to direct A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. It's a very dark and twisted comedy, that reminds me of something David Cronenberg would have done back in the '80s. The story follows a man whose iPhone and social media starts to literally become a part of him. I enjoyed the short and I think most of you will too. Here's what the director had to say about the project to Firstshowing,

I'm addicted to my cell phone. I'm on it all the time. Why? Why am I on Instagram all day? Why do I have a reflex to grab my phone the second someone gets up from a table at dinner. Why do I care if someone retweets me... What is that?

I don't have the answer, but it seemed like an interesting and, hopefully, relatable issue to dive into with this new short.

I wanted to make something that had the ecology of a nightmare but made you laugh, was stylish but personal, that asked questions that I grapple with and attempted, in some way, to work out an answer.

It was really exciting to try some new stuff, challenge myself and take some risks with this one and I hope you all like it as much as I liked making it. Oh, and retweet the link if you like it. No, seriously.

The director completely succeeded in what he was trying to accomplish, and it's shot extremely well. The short is NSFW due some some nudity, but check it out when you get a chance and let us know what you think of it! After watching this short I want to see the director do something a lot more interesting than a stoner comedy, this guy has got some talent.

Poster for Elijah Wood and Sasha Grey's Thriller OPEN WINDOW

0
0

Here's the first poster for the new thriller Open Windows from director Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes). The movie is an high-tech suspense thriller that stars Elijah Wood (LOTR) and Sasha Grey (The Girlfriend Experience).

The plot centers on Wood’s character who is tracking down an actress, played by Grey, who was abducted by a vicious villain named Chord, played by Neil Maskell. Apparently the story unfolds on the screen of a laptop connected using the internet. The real-time feature was previously described as "90 minutes of suspense in a tense, fast-paced, high-tech thriller with action and terror, updating the key elements of 70s paranoid thrillers through today’s computer and online environment." Here's what the director had to say about it...

Just as in Brian De Palma’s Blow Out, the girl is captured. The hero will have to use every means at his disposal to discover where she is, and rescue her from the villain before its too late.

The action will be followed on the screen of a laptop connected to the Internet – an approach that has excited us all from the outset. Something like this means going beyond high concept films like Paranormal ActivityCloverfield or Chronicle. Instead of simulating a home video camera, we will be representing a computer desktop. The movie screen becomes a computer screen, and the spectator becomes the protagonist of this adventure.

Open Windows is full of twists, but it’s essentially a 90-minute chase, a continuous climax with unrelenting tension… it is also a powerful viral tool, with a wide potential for different audiences.

12 different cameras were used to make the movie including webcams, head cameras, tablets, mobile phones, 3D mapping cameras as well as security and satellite cameras. Sounds like this could turn out to be a really good movie!

SUPER TROOPERS 2 Could Shoot Later This Year

0
0

It's kind of hard to believe it's been twelve years since Super Troopers first was released, and I don't think I've seen it since it was in theaters. I honestly never thought of or expected to see a sequel for the movie, but it looks like the Broken Lizard comedy troupe is getting back together to give us one! Since Super Troopers they've made a few other comedies such as Club Dread, Beerfest, The Slammin' Salmon, The Babymakers, and Freeloaders, none of which have been as good or funny as their first film.

Apparently Super Troopers 2 secured financing back in 2009, but writers and the studio couldn't agree on a script. Now in a recent interview with Guy Speed, Kevin Heffernan, who played Farva, said that the sequel could start shooting this year!

There will be a Super Troopers sequel. We put it off for a while and then came back to it. We wrote the script and handed it in to Fox and now we’re just negotiating the time and the place and hopefully shoot it some time this year. I have to start growing my mustache now.

So for those of you who have been looking forward to this sequel, it's coming! Hopefully it ends up being as good or better than the first one.

Carrie Fisher Hospitalized After Bizarre Performance...Can She Return To STAR WARS?

0
0

Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher hospitalized herself citing bi-polar disorder after an odd performance on a cruise ship this past week. Watch the video below and read on.

(Update: Video has been removed likely due to Fisher's publicist finding out. Basically it was Fisher drunk using a towel to clean up dog pee, breaking into spontaneous song during a scene in her stage show and slurring her speech.)

Through her own admission Fisher has battled drug abuse with prescription pills and cocaine through parts of her life and seems to be on the road to recovery, but this somewhat drunken stage show has me wondering if she can stay clean through the new trilogy if asked to take part. Mind you I know bi-polar disorder is a hard illness to struggle with and we've seen actors and actresses in far worse conditions give astounding performances, but is it worth the risk? With Hamill and Ford already willing to jump in I have to say it will be interesting to see if Disney approaches Fisher with an offer with these recent events. If they do, do you think it'd a good or bad call?

FALLING SKIES: Many Unanswered Questions Will Be Resolved in Season 3

0
0

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve been nothing short of addicted to TNT’s Falling Skies since it premired in June of 2011. Sure, the show doesn’t have top notch graphics that you would expect to see in something of this scale, but you have to remember that this is on TV and not in the movies. What it does have is a great storyline, along with a set of great actors that keep me glued to the screen each time it’s on. Also, it doesn’t hurt that this is a Steven Spielberg backed show.

Here’s a brief synopsis courtesy of the Falling Skies Wikipedia page

Falling Skies tells the story of the aftermath of a global invasion by extraterrestrials (including mechanical attack drones called "mechs", a race of green-skinned six-legged beings known as "skitters" that appear to control the mechs, and a third mysterious race known as overlords, presumably the actual engineers of the invasion and the masters of the skitters). Within a few days the invaders neutralize the world's power grid and technology, destroy the militaries of all the world's countries, and apparently kill over 90% of the human population.

The aliens' objectives are not explained, though the aliens try to round up children between the ages of 8 and 18 and attach a biomechanical obedience device onto (and into) their spines, referred to as a "harness". The harness controls the child's mind, and forcibly removing it generally kills the child.

The story picks up six months after the invasion and follows a group of survivors who band together to fight back. The group, known as the Second Massachusetts (an allusion to a historical regiment from the Continental Army), is led by retired Captain Weaver and Boston University history professor Tom Mason who, while in search of his son Ben, must put his extensive knowledge of military history into practice as one of the leaders of the resistance movement.

During the end run of Season 2 last year, we had a lot of unanswered questions:

  • What’s up with Anne’s baby that is growing inside of her? Since she has been getting it on with Tom, and he was abducted by the aliens and had tests run on him by them, does this mean she may have an alien/human hybrid baby inside of her?
  • Hal’s ex Karen has been working under the alien’s control for a while now, and at the end of season 2 she infected him with some alien device. How will this new evil version of Hal affect the group?
  • Who are the new aliens that arrived in the Season 2 finale? Are they friend or foe? Is the new aliens' arrival somehow linked to the 2nd Mass taking down the Overlord’s cannon?

For that last question, here is what the show’s writer, Remi Aubuchon had to say:

Well, it seems to be a big coincidence that they took down this huge weapon, and all of the sudden these guys landed. So I would say that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that there must be some kind of connection between the two of them.

One of the things that I hope the fans will see is that of course this is an alien that doesn’t look anything like the aliens we’ve been confronted with since the beginning of the series. And in fact there’s a certain benign-ness. It’s uncertain as to whether or not he’s friendly or unfriendly, but the one thing that we can definitely determine is he kind of looks a little like us in a way. His eyes do not seem as shark eye-like as the overlords’ eyes did or even the skitters, who have a frightening look to them. So I’m hoping that some of the speculation will be “Wow, this is not only a game changer, this could be a game changer for the good.” And then that begs the question of “is it too good to be true?” I’m hoping that there’s a lot of questions running around the blogosphere and the Internet world because I think that that’s certainly what we had intended.

Check out the promo video below that goes a little deeper into what we may find out this  season. Be sure to leave your thoughts about the show in the comments. Falling Skies Season 3 is set to premiere in Summer 2013 (more than likely around June).

This Guy Didn't Know Darth Vader Was Luke Skywalker's Dad!

I honestly don't know how a person could have lived on planet Earth for as long as this guy has, and never find out that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father until now. I don't know what planet he's been on his whole life, but he was able to avoid it until he watched The Empire Strikes Back for the first time in his life. His friends got his reaction of the reveal in the video that you can watch below. It's actually kind of fun to watch, it's not everyday we get to see someone find out this news for the first time! EA: Good Business or Are We Being Nickel & Dimed?

0
0

Okay, a bit of a rant is incoming, so be forewarned. At the recent Morgan Stanley Tech, Media, and Telecom Conference CFO of EA Blake Jorgensen said the following.

The next and much bigger piece [of the business] is microtransactions within games.

We're building into all of our games the ability to pay for things along the way, either to get to a higher level to buy a new character, to buy a truck, a gun, whatever it might be, and consumers are enjoying and embracing that way of the business.

So now that you know what he said, the common reaction on Twitter and the interwebs  tends to be that this is yet another example of big publishers keeping the consumer down and penny pinching us for things we already bought. For me though that's a bit eccentric and not at all practical. Companies (unless you're Sony) generally only back plans and products that have proven to be profitable or have very high potential to be. In this case, micro transactions have gone over quite well. I'm not talking amongst everyone, but the general public doesn't seem to have a problem with them, and neither do I. Sure everyone will get up in arms once another season pass or special horse armor DLC gets announced, but when it's released for their favorite game that they love and want to play more of, most of those people download it on day one.

Personally I have no problem with microtransactions, as long as I can play the game from start to finish without them. Again, I've been known to plop down money for costumes, avatar items, extra non story dlc, etc. for my favorite games, and I don't regret any of those purchases. If someone wants to get extra health when in a jam for $1, what do I care? It doesn't affect me and if they enjoy the game that much more, so be it.

Dead Space 3 is the most recent convert to microtransactions

We are in a time where news of another developer or even publisher closing its doors for good is common place, and if you want these companies to be around to make your games then you just might have to stop protesting every time a new DLC pack is announced. I'm okay with letting--let's call him "Joe Bob"--Joe Bob buy himself to level 40 in an action rpg. Does he cheat himself a bit of the experience? Yes, I think so. Does it affect me one bit? Nope, and that money went into developing a game I might love or that might be crap, but it's going right back into making games, and that's what I care about. As Dark Void taught us, they can't all be winners. I know random, but man that game sucked.

I love games just as much as you do, and I'm not an advocate for getting ripped off. At some point though we do have to realize that these are companies, and just like in any other business they have to make money. If microtransactions are a way to keep some of these companies around for the long haul then sell your special elixir potions for $1 to your hearts content to Joe Bob and call it a day. Granted, I'm also the guy who says that for the comic industry to survive it can't ignore digital but must embrace it, so I tend to be the rebellious black sheep all the way around.

It's not the end of the world, but it could be for only a small fee of $5.

Relax folks. If you don't want them, then don't buy them. Simple enough.

Doctor Doom and Thing Concept Art for FANTASTIC FOUR Movies

0
0

Here's a collection of early concept character art for Doctor Doom and The Thing for the original Fantastic Four movies. As you can see the designs are very unconventional, and I don't really like them at all. The movies would have been even worse had they used these designs. I mean no disrespect to the artist, Constantine Sekeris, but I just don't think they work.

At the time the concept art was made, Nicolas Cage was attached to play Doctor Doom, which would have been interesting to see. What are your thoughts on the character designs?
