THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE - Victory Tour Posters

Lionsgate has released a couple new posters for the highly anticipated film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. As you can see the posters are celebrating the victory tour of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). These are a couple of really cool, slick looking posters. I enjoyed the first movie, and it'd be great if they just got better.

The poster came with the following note, "The Capitol proudly announces the victors of the 74th annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark, as they embark on this year’s Victory Tour!"

The movie was directed by Francis Lawrence and also stars Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Meta Golding, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, Maria Howell, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Sam Claflin, and Jeffrey Wright.

The movie will be released in theaters and IMAX on November 22nd, 2013.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

SHERLOCK gets a Cool Cartoon Style Makeover

Artist Angela Taratuta has created a great set of art re-imagining the awesome BBC series Sherlock as a cartoon. If you're familiar with the series then you'll recognize these scenes because they are from the episode "A Scandal in Belgravia." It'd be cool to see a Sherlock animated series, but I'd just be happy if the live action series kept on going for a few more seasons.

We've seen a ton of Star Wars-inspired C-3PO and R2-D2 dresses over the years, but these might be the coolest ones I've seen. The dresses were created by Etsy user GeekyU1, and if you want one it will cost you around $200.

Who Else Forgot Martin Freeman Was in ALI G INDAHOUSE?

Safe to say 2002 was not a year Americans were familiar with Mr. Bilbo Baggins, Martin Freeman, unless of course they were huge fans of Ricky Gervais' The Office. I remember watching Ali G Indahouse and being really disappointed that it wasn't as good as Da Ali G Show but after seeing this I think I'll give it another shot.

TOMB RAIDER: The New Game Isn't Out Yet, But Here’s a Fantastic Cosplay

The new Tomb Raider game from Square Enix doesn’t come out until a little over a week from now, but that’s not going to stop people from cosplaying as the re-imagined Lara Croft already.

This particular cosplay comes from DontTellMe on DeviantArt. It features Lara looking like she is very worried, and in need of some rest. Overall I like how they tried to mimic everything from the new game. But if there was one thing I would be a little critical of, is that in the picture where she is climbing, she is hardly off the ground.

Bryan Singer Hints at Bringing Back Cyclops and Jean Grey for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Bryan Singer recently talked to IGN to talk about X-Men: Days of Future Past, and there's a few things that I think fans are going to be happy to hear. I know I was! First of all he's going to use the film as an opportunity to fix some things that went wrong with Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand. It will be easy for him to do that since the new X-Men film includes a time travel element.

Here's the question and answer session for that segment of the interview:

IGN: One thing that’s interesting about the alternate universe/timeline in Days of Future Past is that it could potentially give you the opportunity to revisit things that happened in the third film in terms of characters and endings that you might like to see changed.

Bryan Singer: You mean, what you’re politely saying is, “fix s**t.” Is that what you’re saying? That’s what I’m hearing. [Laughing]

IGN: [Laughing] Maybe…

Singer: There’s going to be a little of that, a few things I can repair.

IGN: Are fans going to be pleased with these things you will be repairing?

Singer: I think so, I think so, yes.

I couldn't be happier to hear that! That means there's a possibility that we can actually see James Marsden back as Cyclops and Famke Janssen back as Jean Grey who were both ridiculously killed off in The Last Stand. When Singer is asked if he'd like to see these characters in the next movie he said,

Who wouldn’t? Who wouldn’t? [Laughing] That’s all I can say.

It would be amazing to see them come back. The director goes on to talk about the time travel story elements, and explains the balance between the First Class characters and original characters.

The movie takes place at different times. It deals with, I don't want to say time travel, but time displacement. A form of time travel which is steeped more in the X-Men [mythos].

The majority of it...or that part of it, takes place in the early 70’s, 1973. So Nixon is a character, and there will be different styles and automobiles. And there will be some futuristic, as well as retro, technology which you haven’t seen. There are science fiction aspects of the movie, and then there’s some retro science fiction that the X-Men films haven’t had quite yet. So we’re exploring that, which will be fun. And there’s an attitude [difference]. We discover our characters, particularly the younger characters, at a different place in their lives. Every character you discover in this movie is in a completely different place than you’ve ever seen, emotionally, and it's about them moving through that. Hilarity ensues!

Singer also talks about expanding the X-Men movie universe, and that they are thinking about how they can do that.

I think that if you really examine the X-Men universe it’s every bit as big as the Marvel universe. There are lesser characters, but if you take certain characters there are a myriad of films you could make, and stories you could tell, with these characters as individuals. Wolverine being one of them, and that’s currently being done. But you could really mine this universe. I’m glad to return to it and I’d like to get more involved in it because it hasn’t really been orchestrated – somewhat with the Wolverine pictures – but I think there is a lot more that one can do.

It’s just something we’re thinking about. Really my big focus was this movie. Because it’s really massive, and we’re going to start shooting soon. But we’re talking, [producer] Lauren Shuler Donner and I, and we’ll see.

With Singer back on board, I'm confident we're going to see another great X-Men movie! Are you happy to hear that he's going to be fixing some things, and that there's a possibility we'll see Cyclops and Jean Grey back for more action?

It's set to be released on July 18th, 2014. Simon Kinberg wrote the script, and it is based on Chris Claremont and John Byrne's comic book storyline, Days of Future Past, that ran in "Uncanny X-Men" #141 and 142 back in 1981. The story is set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been thrown in concentration camps, Sentinels are patrolling America, and most of the X-Menhave been hunted down and killed. The present day X-Men are forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.

So far the confirmed cast members for the film include Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Hugh Jackman.

Neill Blomkamp Starts Work on His Sci-Fi Comedy CHAPPIE

About two years ago around the same time District 9 director Neill Blomkamp's Elysium was announced, another project was also announced called Chappie. Not much is known about the film other than it's a sci-fi comedy that will be shot in Johannesburg.

This will be Blomkamp's third feature film and it's been revealed in a recent interview with The Province (via The Playlist) that the director has already started prep work on the movie. The script for it comes from Terri Tatchell who also worked on District 9.

There's really no other information of the project, but Blomkamp is a very talented director, and the guy is just going to get better and better as a filmmaker. District 9 was awesome, the footage I've seen from Elysium is incredible, and I think any film this guy ends up doing is something to look forward to.

He also gives a little update on Elysium saying it's basically finished and is just going to sit on a shelf until it's released this summer in August. "It's kind of weird that it sits on a shelf and doesn't come out until August 9th, but I think a summer release is fantastic for the film." He goes on to explain that he has "some straggling VFX shots that go into April but it's almost done," and that the film "looks absolutely amazing." I can't wait!

Some awesome concept art has leaked out for Shane Black's Iron Man 3 featuring Hulkbuster and Space armor! These designs look awesome, and I can't wait to see them brought to life on the big screen! There's no confirmation that we'll see either of these suits in Iron Man 3, but it's been rumored. They are sure to eventually show up in a future Marvel film though. If they do show up in Iron Man 3 it would be amazing! What do you think of the designs?

Vin Diesel Sits on a Throne in New RIDDICK Photo

It shouldn't come as a surprise to any of you that Vin Diesel would release another new photo from Riddick. This time he sits on a throne of bones. Here's the note that came along with the photo,

It has been 9 years since the Chronicles of Riddick was released... all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan...

The movie was directed by David Twohy, and also stars Karl Urban (Star Trek), Jordi Molla (Bad Boys II), Matt Nable (Killer Elite), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall), Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (Aliens in America), and Keri Hilson

Riddick will be released in theaters on September 6th, 2013.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

I hope Conan does more of these, check it out!

Bryan Singer Discusses Peter Dinklage's X-MEN Character

We still don't know much about who Peter Dinklage will actually be playing in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. There's been rumors that he could be playing the dwarf member of Alpha Flight, Puck. There are also rumors that he could be playing a villain in the movie, possibly Boliver Trask, the man who created the Sentinels. I've also seen people speculate that he could be playing M.O.D.O.K. or The Watcher, which never really made sense to me in the first place because they really aren't X-Men villains.

One thing we know for sure now is that the character won't be CGI. Here's what Singer had to say in a recent interview with IGN.

He’s not going to be a CGI character, he’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.

So as of right now the one rumor that actually makes sense is the one that has him playing Boliver Trask. Are there any other characters that you think he could be playing in the movie?

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to be released on July 18th, 2014.

Artist Denis Medri has created an incredible world with this Batman Rockabilly concept art he's been developing. I would love to see this as a comic or an animated series. It would be pretty damn incredible. The Thanks for sharing blog took the art that Medri has done, and created this awesome animated motion art video that takes us on a little tour of this amazing new Batman world. The 1950s music they added really takes the art to the next level of cool. Check it out daddy-o!

Badass Darth Vader Collectible Statue

Darth Vader brood's like a badass in this incredible new statue from Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars Mythos series. I think it's safe to say that this could be the greatest Darth Vader staute ever made. Here's a description from Sideshow,

For our Star Wars Mythos version of Darth Vader we chose a moment in time between the trilogies, where he has returned to his symbolic birthplace on Mustafar for a moment of deep reflection on his choices. He is caught in a pose reminiscent of Shakespearean introspect, Hamlet-esque with an ‘alas poor Yorick' view of his helmet. Somewhere deep inside the man who was once Anakin Skywalker a deep torment foments as he contemplates the partial machine he has become. Whether his thoughts waver toward this new reality being a tragedy or a triumph is a matter left up to the viewers' imagination.

The statue comes with an alternate helmeted head and various arms, to allow Vader to clench his fist in anger or wield his lightsaber. You can pre-order the statue at Sideshow for $350. I've also included some of the previous Star Wars Mythos statues they've released.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Will Be a Political Thriller

Captain America is one of my favorite Marvel characters, and I'm very excited to see what directors Anthony and Joe Russo are going to throw at us. Marvel President Kevin Feige recently talked to Variety about the films he's working on and when talking about the comic book film genre he said,

If it is a fad, it's one that lasts 30 to 40 years, as the Western did, because each one is so different. There's an opportunity to graft almost sub-genres onto them.

He then goes on to reveal that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is going to be more of a political thriller,

Our first Captain America film was a World War II picture, and the next is a political thriller. They all have their own textures and patinas, and that's what is exciting about it.

I enjoy political thrillers, so the fact that this is going to be the tone of the movie is great news!

Chris Evans is set to reprise his role as Steve Rogers, with Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Cobie Smulders reprising their roles as well. Franchise newcomers include Anthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, and Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter. The film arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on April 4, 2014.

Let Me In star Kodi Smit-McPhee has been cast in the lead roles in 20th Century Fox‘s Dawn Of The Planet Of The ApesLet Me In director Matt Reeves is attached to direct the movie, and Zero Dark Thirty's Jason Clarke is also set to star in the film along with Andy Serkis.

The movie is set 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. They also reveal that one part of the story will focus on a "group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco." The other part of the story will center on "the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar to maintain dominance over his kingdom."

Smit-McPhee is currently filming The Young Ones with Nicholas Hoult, Elle Fanning, and Michael Shannon. Smit-McPhee also voiced the title character in the Oscar-nominated animated feature ParaNorman, and he starred in The Road. He's a solid young actor that I'm sure will be great. There's no word on who he'll be playing in the film.

STAR WARS Family Tree

With the new Star Wars movies coming out here's a great little family tree chart to help you brush up on your Star Wars universe lore. It's also great for those of you who aren't really familiar with the extended universe. The chart was created by Chart Geek, and here's what they had to say...

If you’re unfamiliar with the Star Wars Expanded Universe, you may want to familiarize yourself with a few of the characters that arrive on the scene after Return of the Jedi. They might feature in the upcoming movies. But keep in mind that that’s a very big “might”. So far, we don’t really know what the new movies are going to be about.

I can't wait to see what these new Star Wars films are really going to be about.

X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn has joined Chronicle director Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot as a producer. I guess he'll lend his superhero expertise to the production and help guide the project in the right direction. The news comes from FOX's Marvel consultant Mark Millar, who said in a tweet,

Just off the phone with Fox and some excellent news -- Matthew Vaughn is producing Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot!

I wasn't a big fan of the first two Fantastic Four films, but I imagine this reboot is going to end up being more awesome. It's got a great, talented team of people developing it.

As of right now there's no details on what the story will be about other than what we already know about the comic book characters. Does Vaughn's involvment with the movie get you more excited about it?
