PACIFIC RIM - Cool Concept Art and Magazine Cover

Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim look absolutely amazing, and thanks to Total Film we have a magazine cover for the film, and a couple of pieces of cool looking concept art. This is one of my most anticipated films of the year, and it looks like it's going to deliver on all levels of awesomeness.

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman. The film is set to hit theaters July 12th, 2013.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee —who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

YouTube user and Star Trek fan IITREKKIEII has put together the ultimate blooper and outtake reel for all things Star Trek. It's really fun watching these actors mess up their lines, and bust up laughing while all decked out in their costumes and make-up. I especially enjoyed the William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy moments. They're all really good, and the video put a smile on my face. I think you'll all get a kick out of it.

Dwayne Johnson Says HERCULES is a Passion Project

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is currently making the press rounds for his upcoming new film Snitch, and when talking with MTV they asked him about the new Hercules movie he's making with Brett Ratner. In the interview the action star explains that Hercules is a passion project of his, and he also reveals that he's not going to do Lobo anymore. Here's what he had to say about his next film.

Next shoot, is a passion project I've had on my mind ever since I got into Hollywood almost over 15 years now, Hercules. I can't wait, we are going to shoot that in Croatia and Budapest. I've been preparing for this role now for a good part of a year.

He goes on to explain that Ratner is still attached to the project and why it's his passion project.

It's still Brett Ratner directing, Beau Flynn producing, Paramount, and MGM are on board. For me when I was a kid Hercules was a hero of mine and there was Steve Reeves to multiple guys who have played Hercules. This man, Hercules, was always a hero of mine. So when I first got into movies I thought 'gosh I would love to do that one day.' I always felt that the version of Hercules I wanted to play, was one that was more dramatic, and more survived in baron lands. Not necessarily slick in any way, or anything like that, but it's been around and been on my mind for quite some time.

I'm really happy that he's going to finally get to make his passion project, unfortunately for him it has to be under the direction of Ratner. I'd like to see an awesomely epic Hercules movie, but I just don't think this is going to be the team of talent to give it to us. He finally goes on to say that he's not going to play Lobo anymore.

It was for a minute, but then it kind of just went away. As things happen in Hollywood sometimes. For a minute I was interested in it (Lobo), then it went away.

Jason Momoa Cast in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Marvel and director James Gunn have cast Jason Momoa to play Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy! Momoa is best known for his role as Conan and Khal Drogo in the first season of Game Of Thrones.

According to Latino Review the actor flew out to London to screen test on Wednesday. I guess they liked him so much that they decided he was the guy best fit for the part. It was previously reported earlier that Isaiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista, and Brian Patrick also tested the part.

The best thing Momoa has done in his career was Game of Thrones, I haven't really liked him in anything else that I've seen him in. I can however see him as Drax the Destroyer, I think Marvel made a solid choice.

Here's a little background info on the character:

A former saxophonist, Arthur Sampson "Art" Douglas and his family were killed by the Titanian Eternal Thanos while driving across the Mojave Desert. Kronos recovered Douglas' astral form and used it to create a superhuman warrior for the purpose of defeating Thanos.

Peter Dinklage's Role Revealed in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?

Not long ago Bryan Singer announced that Peter Dinklage had joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Since then, an anonymous source from MTV Geek has revealed who he might be playing in the story. The actor will be playing a main villain in the story, and according to the source that villain will be Boliver Trask, the man who created the Sentinels

First introduced in Uncanny X-Men #14 in 1965, the character was an inventor and anthropologist who was threatened by the increasing number of mutants popping up in society. So naturally, he did what any anthropologist would do, and created gigantic robots called Sentinels to protect humans and hunt down mutants. Trask eventually finds out that the X-Men aren't so bad and ends up sacrificing his own life to save the X-Men.

This news has not been confirmed, so for now take it with a grain of salt. Not sure how accurate this news can be since Trask was previously featured in the 2006 film X-MenThe Last Stand, and he was portrayed by actor Bill Duke.

We know that the Sentinels play a big role in X-Men: Days of Future past so it makes sense that Trask would be included, I'm just not sure if Dinklage will really be playing him. What do you think?

Pixar has released another fun PSA for their upcoming film Monsters University. It features a message from the Dean showcasing what the school is all about, such as studies, athletcis, and geography. It also shows off a good amount of fun new footage from the film. I loved the first movie, and this prequel looks incredibly entertaining!

Monsters University hits theaters on June 21st, 2013, and it stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray, and Peter Sohn.

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”).

David Fincher's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA Moving Forward without Brad Pitt

David Fincher's big screen adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: Captain Nemo has been inching towards production since 2010. At one point it looked like Brad Pitt would be joining the film production. THR now reports that Pitt isn't going to do it, but that production is moving toward a green light!

The studio is currently looking at shooting the film in Australia, and at this point they are just waiting to finalize details about the shoot, and some production incentives before they move forward and give the movie the green light. It looks like it's going to happen soon though which is really exciting! I've been excitedly waiting for this movie to happen since it was announced!

Fincher has been working with screenwriter Scott Z. Burns on adapting Jules Verne’s classic novel, and I have no doubt it's going to be incredible if everything goes as planned.

Warner Bros. Executives Loved MAN OF STEEL!

Looks like Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is really going to kick some ass! I've had very high hopes for this movie, and it looks like it's going to deliver everything we want it to, maybe even more. Latino Review's El Mayimbe recently did a guest spot on Fox News Latino. He not only revealed that Harrison Ford was locked down for Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII, but also said that Warner Bros. held a screening of Man of Steel for the executives and their families.

Word is everybody loved it! Apparently it was such an amazing film that it will be "the superhero movie of the summer," beating out Iron-Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and The Wolverine. I'll be honest, that's hard to believe, all I've gotta say is that Warner Bros. better show us something soon that proves it.

Do you think there's a chance that Snyder's Superman will be the biggest Superhero movie of the year? Man of Steel flies into theaters on June 14th, 2013!

Here's another cool fan made poster for Star Wars: Episode VII created by Dog Hollywood who says,

Here’s my first take on a teaser poster for the next installment of the legendary Star Wars saga Episode VII. It depicts a lone Jedi (possibly Luke, but who knows) brandishing a red lightsaber on a distant world. Intriguing… I can’t wait to see what J.J.Abrams will do with his take on Star Wars, if it’s anything like the revamped Star Trek it will be awesome! Enjoy.

Earlier today news hit that Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Han Solo, and I hope Han was able to keep his Millennium Falcon running after all these years!

Jennifer Lawrence will be reuniting with Bradley Cooper and Silver Linings Playbook director David ORussell for the film previously titled film American Bullshit. The movie will also star Christian Bale

The story takes place in the '70s and follows a con artist working with the FBI on a sting operation called Abscam that took down some U.S. Congressmen. The corruption case that stretched from Atlantic City to Washington, DC. The operation initially targeted trafficking in stolen property but was converted to a public corruption investigation.

According to the report Lawrence will play Bale’s wife in the story. This sounds like an interesting story that will make for a great film. I love the films that Russell has made, and I'm sure this is going to be another good one. You can't go wrong with the cast!

Have you ever been in an awkward situation at a party where you just wish the world would end? Well, that's exactly what the story of this new dark comedy, It's a Disaster, explores. First Look at Josh Brolin in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

Robert Rodriguez tweeted out our first look at Josh Brolin as Dwight in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. We've got a behind the scenes photo of the actor surrounded by green screen, as well as a little mock rendering showing us what the finished product may end up looking like. The photo came with the following note,

Here's bad ass Josh Brolin driving a Rodriguez-mobile. (A green box with a steering wheel bolted on)

It's gotta be hard shooting a movie like this with really nothing to work against except a green screen. In the end it looks really cool, but it looks like it could be pretty boring for the actors.

The movie also stars Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, Jessica AlbaClive Owen, and Jamie King who are reprising their roles from the first film. Then there's Jamie Chung and Dennis Haysbert who are replacing Devon Aoki and Michael Clarke Duncan.

The plot for Sin City 2 comes from the stories A Dame To Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night, and a new one Frank Miller wrote called The Long, Bad Night, which apparently centers on Alba's character, Nancy Callahan, who will be the connection between the two films.

The movie is set to be released on October 4th, 2013.

Danny Strong to Write THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY Part 2

Lionsgate has given screenwriter Danny Strong the chance to tackle the script for the second part of The Hunger Games finale Mockingjay. He already wrote the script for the first part, and the studio liked it enough to exercise their option to write Part 2. Strong recently won a couple of Emmy's for his work on HBO's Game Change

The first part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay will be released on November 21th, 2014, and the second part will hit theaters on November 20th, 2015. It will be interesting to see how they stretch that last book out into two movies.

Hopefully they can turn this one book into two decent entertaining films.

Here's the description of the third book in the series:

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what's worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.

David Twohy Talks about RIDDICK and Going Back to Its Roots

It's been awhile since Vin Diesel has released any photos from his highly anticipated sci-fi film Riddick. So, here's an interview with Total Film in which director David Twohy talks about the 'R' rating, and what fans can expect to see in the franchise. He starts out by discussing how making an 'R' rated film is so much better than making a PG-13 film.

If you make it PG-13, then you have to make concessions, and that's what happened on The Chronicles of Riddick where we had to downplay a lot of our action sequences and remove a lot of the blood. We found it was tying our hands, so we vowed not to do that.

Sounds good to me! He goes on to talk about where they would have taken the franchise had The Chronicles of Riddick been a big box office success for Universal Pictures.

Had Universal said to us, "let's roll over, let's pick it up right at the end of the last movie" and funded it, we would have ventured into the Necromonger underverse and we would have had a big The Lord of the Rings-style movie on our hands. But That didn't happen, so cleverly Vin and I got the rights back and produced it ourselves on a smaller scale. That said, it still looks like a big movie. I think the audience will see the tip of the hat to Pitch Black, but they won't feel claustrophobic.

I'm so glad they are taking this next film back to the roots of Pitch Black. It was such a great movie! The director then address rumors of Riddick being given additional powers.

The cryptic answer is a little of both. Sorry for being coy but I'm already projecting ahead to the theatrical cut versus the director's cut and thinking about what I may re-include.

Now I'm already excited about seeing the director's cut of the film!

The movie also stars Karl Urban (Star Trek), Jordi Molla (Bad Boys II), Matt Nable (Killer Elite), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall), Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (Aliens in America), and Keri HilsonRiddick will be released in theaters on September 6th, 2013.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.
