In case you've been wondering when you'll get to see the first footage of James Mangold's The Wolverine, you'll be happy that it will screen before A Good Day to Die Hard on February 14th. If you don't want to wait until then to see it though, you wont have too, because it will hit the internet two days earlier on February 12th!

I'm incredibly excited to see what the first footage of the movie will reveal. I really hope it ends up blowing us away. I want to be completely sold on the film with this teaser, I hope it packs the punch that can do that. All we know is what Mangold has said, and that is that it will be a "true teaser." In a previous interview he explained,

I think you always want to put your best foot forward. For me, I'm not the marketing department of Fox, but for my own tastes, less is more. You have a character that's a bit of a given, you know this guy. Hugh is so good in this role. My point of view is 'save as much as you can,' but we will be lifting our skirt and offering a peek or two.

Hopefully we like what we see under the skirt. We'll get the trailer up for you to watch as soon as it's released!

The Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, and Brian Tee. It's set to hit theaters on July 26th, 2013, and here's the synopsis...

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

Sundance '13 Review: Escape to the Woods With Wonderful TOY'S HOUSE

Toy's House

Director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts

Screenwriter: Chris Galletta

Cast: Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie, Mary Lynn Rajskub

Official Synopsis: Joe Toy, on the verge of adolescence, finds himself increasingly frustrated by his single father, Frank’s, attempts to manage his life. Declaring his freedom once and for all, he escapes to a clearing in the woods with his best friend, Patrick, and a strange kid named Biaggio and announces that they are going to build a house there—free from responsibility and parents. Once their makeshift abode is finished, the three young men find themselves masters of their own destiny, alone in the woods.

Performances

It's possible Toy's House could catch your eye based on the cast full of comedic TV actors: Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Megan Mullally, and even "24" star Mary Lynn Rajskub make small appearances. They're all good and fun to watch, but the film really belongs to the three young male leads. Nick Robinson plays Joe, a typical high schooler who's fed up with his dad's BS, so he grabs his best friend Patrick, played by Gabriel Basso, and decides to build a house in the middle of a clearing in the woods. Robinson has a great everyman quality to him - not nerdy, but not that memorable - and he runs the gamut of emotions from frustration to elation to heartbreak and back all while staying grounded and believable. Basso's Patrick is coddled by his overprotective parents, so he's along for the ride and becomes embroiled in a love triangle with Erin Moriarty's character Kelly that feels genuine and somehow inevitable at the same time.

Offerman is hysterical as Joe's sarcastic single father, and his real life wife Mullally is equally funny as one of Patrick's fussy parents. Brie and Rajskub don't get much screen time, but they do some solid work as well. But most of the film's comedy comes from one character: a bizarre kid named Biaggio, played wonderfully by Moises Arias. Biaggio definitely has some form of Asperger's, and he spends the film popping up in unexpected places, painting himself to look like a tree, and generally cracking everyone up with his weird antics. (He's reminscent of Abed from "Community.") He anchors a lot of the movie's biggest laughs, but also brings a heart to the part that could have easily been lost in the "gimmick" by a less skilled actor.

Story and Direction

Chris Galletta's script was the funniest at this year's festival, even moreso than Nat Faxon and Jim Rash's The Way, Way Back. Every character is fully fleshed out, the plot points feel natural (except for the fact that these kids actually build a kick-ass house, which probably wouldn't have actually happened in real life), and the comedy comes so quickly that you barely have time to finish laughing from one joke when you start laughing at the next.

It isn't all fun and games, though. Vogt-Roberts does a great job of blending a serious undercurrent through the movie, giving it some real life and death stakes, and even touching on some interesting male/female dynamics in the process. After all, this is a movie about three boys going off in the woods who try to become men, but while some of this movie feels like a traditional coming-of-age story, it's so well executed that the more familiar aspects don't matter as much. Toy's House is an instant classic, a comedic story that kids can learn from, and a movie that will likely hold up as a twist on a modern version of an Amblin movie. They don't make 'em like this anymore, and that's why this is one of the best movies of Sundance 2013.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Casting Rumor Update

$

0

There's been a ton of casting rumors surrounding several of the characters from James Gunn's Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. Today we've got some more names to add to the list thanks to CBM, who has casting updates on Rocket Raccoon, Drax and Gamora.

They confirm that Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are up for the role of Rocket Raccoon. They also add that the studio is also looking at voice actors such as Jon Benjamin, who are known for having good comedic timing and quick wit. Rocket Raccoon is going to have a decent sized role in the film, and they want him to work well on the big screen.

As for Drax the Destroyer, we previously heard that Brian Patrick Wade (The Guardian), former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista (Man With The Iron Fists), and Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa were up for the part. We've now learned that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was also up for the role, but that won't happen because of his Hercules commitment. There were also talks of casting Conan star Jason Momoa, but I guess that didn't last long. The studio is now considering casting an unknown actor in the role, and here's the type of person they're looking for... “Caucasian male, above 6’2”(188cm), Healthy physique.”

Then there's the character Gamora, which we've heard nothing about so far. CBM says Marvel is taking their time casting the role, and they've considered actresses such as Gina Carano, Olivia Wilde, Adrianne Palicki and many more. None of which have officially been approached by Marvel, but that should give you an idea of the type of actresses that they are looking for.

Then there's the previously announced Star-Lord hopefuls that include Wes Bentley (American Beauty), Chris Lowell (The Help), and Cam Gigandet (Twilight). Other actors previously up for the part included Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark Thirty), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (Lincoln and The Hobbit), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), JamesMarsden (X-Men), Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville), and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom).

It will be interesting to see who ends up being cast as these characters in this movie, I hope they end up landing some talented individuals. Who would your dream cast include?

Eva Green Cast as Ava Lord in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

Dimension Films has announced that Eva Green (Dark Shadows, 300: Rise of an Empire, Casino Royale) has been cast in the role of Ava Lord in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Ava is an iconic character from Miller's story, and is described by Miller as "every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she's also every man's darkest nightmares." Rodriguez and Miller had this to say in a statement:

We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.

Green is going to make a great addition to the cast, she's a solid actress that's going to fit this role perfectly. She joins a huge ensemble cast that includes, Mickey Rourke as Marv, Jessica Alba as Nancy, Bruce Willis as Hartigan, Rosario Dawson as Gail, and Jaime King as Goldie/Wendy; with new cast members that include Josh Brolin as Dwight, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, Dennis Haysbert as Manute, Christopher Meloni as Mort, Jeremy Piven as Bob, Jamie Chung as Miho, Ray Liotta as Joey, Juno Temple as Sally, and Julia Garner as Marcy.

In the film "Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to 'The Big Fat Kill' and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face. The film weaves together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants."

The movie is currently shooting at Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. The film will be released by Dimension Films on October 4th, 2013.

Robert Downey Jr. Hints at Possible IRON MAN 3 Cameos

Not a huge update here, but pretty much anything related to Marvel's upcoming film slate is worth discussing. Former L.A. Times Hero Complex writer Geoff Boucher has taken his talents over to Entertainment Weekly and started a new blog called Cape Town over there, and one of his first big "gets" is a long five-part interview with Robert Downey Jr.

Today, Boucher released the second installment of the interview and spoke with Downey about the likelihood of us seeing any other members of The Avengers pop up in this summer's Iron Man 3. Here's what he had to say:

Iron Man 3 picks up not long after the alien invasion of New York where Tony Stark went into battle at the side of a thunder god, a living legend from WWII and a giant green man-monster. Will we see any of those Avengers in this movie? Or does this movie need to be Tony’s Me Party?

Robert Downey Jr.: The whole Avengers thing [with $1.5 billion in global box office] was such a relief and such a confirmation of [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige’s vision for this all along. As Kevin has put it, the next step after that is to bring in someone like Shane Black and – without pretending that the Avengers don’t exist – find a way to go back to a kind of re-investigation of Tony’s world, which he thought would be, one, fun for the audience and, two, would rock in a different way than The Avengers. But we can’t help it — everywhere you look now in every Marvel movie there are opportunities where certain new pals of his could be useful. So they’re in the atmosphere, so to speak, but I wouldn’t expect to see them on the ground in this one.

We all know how cagey Downey can be when it comes to speaking about this sort of thing - he famously told reporters at The Avengers press conference that the cast still had one more scene to shoot that very night (which ended up being the schwarma post-credits bit) - so I'm wondering if he's speaking literally here. We might not see any of The Avengers "on the ground," but might they show up on some sort of communication screen, or assist in the action from a plane overhead? It's totally possible, and it's obvious that Marvel is planning on using the post-credits sequence for Iron Man 3 to rev up anticipation for more Phase 2 projects, just like they did with Phase 1.

So what do you think, Tyrants? Will we actually see some of The Avengers in Iron Man 3, or is Downey shooting us straight on this one? Don't forget to check out the full interview over the next couple of days at Cape Town.

New Poster for Danny Boyle's TRANCE

Fox Searchlight Pictures has released a new poster for Danny Boyle's art heist thriller Trance. The first trailer was released earlier this month, and it looked like a great movie! I love Boyle's style, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. The movie stars James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassell. It's set for a limited theatrical release on April 5th, 2013.

Synopsis:

Fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious.

In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly - and perhaps shrewdly - to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

Unable to coerce the painting's location from Simon, Franck and his associates reluctantly join forces with a charismatic hypnotherapist (Dawson) in a bid to get him to talk. But as they journey deeper into Simon's jumbled psyche the boundaries between reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur and the stakes rise faster and far more dangerously than any of the players could have anticipated.

ENTOURAGE Movie Gets the Green Light from Warner Bros!

Entourage is officially set to be developed for the big screen! Warner Bros. has given the big screen adaptation of the hit HBO comedy the green light! How freakin' cool is that?! This is actually happening, I know a lot of people didn't think it would, but I've always held out for hope.

Series creator Doug Ellin is set to direct the feature film, and the full cast of the show is expected to return. Deals are currently being worked on for Adrian Grenier (Vincent Chase), Kevin Connolly (Eric “E” Murphy), Kevin Dillon (Johnny Drama), Jerry Ferrara (Turtle), and Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold).

It was previously reported that the film's story will pick up six months after the series ended, in which Ari ended up taking a job as the head of a major studio. Ellin previously had this to say about the film,

There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.

The series ran for eight seasons on HBO between 2004 and 2011, and I'm excited that we're actually going ot get to see these characters up on the big screen!

Rob Zombie's THE LORDS OF SALEM - New Poster and Photos

Here's a poster and a couple of new images from Rob Zombie's newest film project The Lords of Salem. This looks like the most interesting film that he's made. I'm not a big fan of the films that Zombie has made, I don't really care for his take on the horror genre.  I'm willing to check this one out though because I've heard good things about it.

Heidi Hawthorne is a thirty-seven-year-old FM radio DJ and a recovering drug addict. Struggling with her newfound sobriety and creeping depression, Heidi suddenly receives an anonymous gift at the station-a mysteriously shaped wooden box branded with a strange symbol. Inside the box is a promotional record for a band that identifies themselves only as The Lords. There is no other information.

She decides to play it on the radio show as a joke, and the moment she does, horrible things begin to happen. The strange music awakens something evil in the town. Soon enough, terrifying murders begin to happen all around Heidi. Who are The Lords? What do they want?

Anchor Bay is distributing the movie, and they will release it in April. It stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davison , Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, and Judy Geeson.

MAN OF STEEL - Snyder and Cavill on Lois Lane and Flight

Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill recently sat down with Empire Magazine to discuss a handful of topics about their upcoming highly anticipated action adventure film that many of you are excited about... Man of Steel.

When talking about Clark Kent/Superman's relationship with Lois Lane, Snyder wouldn't give much information, but he did explain that saying too much about it would give "a bit of the DNA of the movie away. Suffice to say, whether it is Superman or Kal-El or Clark Kent, we wanted to make him cooler. You'll have to wait and see the why of it. [Amy Adams] is everything you would hope for from Lois Lane." When Cavill was asked about it, all he would say is "I can't talk about that too much. I don't want to be giving away the idea of the film too early, but Amy is a great actress, very professional, a pleasure to work with..." Not much else was said about the on screen relationship other than that.

The conversation then moved on to Superman's flight, and they were asked if they would explain how Superman flies in the film. David Goyer explained, "We worked out things for our own purposes. But that is not that important. It's interesting that he doesn't know how he flies. He didn't grow up on Krypton." Cavill went on to say, "The tricky thing is there is a sense of awe and also a sense of being frightened." Snyder went on to reveal that he used little to no wire work in the movie. He decided that "Superman cannot do anything that is not visual effects." Goyer went on to explain their approach on the story saying,

We're approaching Superman as if it weren't a comic book movie as if it were real.... I adore the Donner films. Absolutely adore them. It just struck me that there was an idealist quality to them that may or may not work with today's audience. It just struck me that if Superman really existed in the world, first of all this story would be a story about first contact. He's an alien. You can easily imagine a scenario in which we'd be doing a film like E.T., as opposed to him running around in tights. If the world found out he existed, it would be the biggest thing that ever happened in human history.

I am incredibly excited to see Superman reclaim the screen! It hits theaters on June 14th, 2013. The image above might be our first look at Adams as Lois Lane, it could be a fake though. It comes from Desde Hollywood, who claims that "the image comes from a black and white booklet printed and passed around in an event honoring Amy Adams."

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

New Action-Packed Clip from A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

There was a point where I was very excited about seeing A Good Day to Die Hard, but that first film clip that was released made the movie look terrible, and this clip isn't much different. I don't think I've ever been turned off a movie by a film clip before. The trailers made it look like it was going to be cool! I wish I would have never watched the clips now. Too late to turn back now, the damage is done. Yeah, of course I'm still going to see the movie! My excitement and expectations for it have just dropped.

Iconoclastic, take-no-prisoners cop John McClane, for the first time, finds himself on foreign soil after traveling to Moscow to help his wayward son Jack – unaware that Jack is really a highly-trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. With the Russian underworld in pursuit, and battling a countdown to war, the two McClanes discover that their opposing methods make them unstoppable heroes.

The movie was directed by John Moore and stars Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Sebastian Koch, Yulia Snigir, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Megalyn Echikunwoke, and Anne Vyalitsyna. The movie is set to be released in theaters including IMAX on February 13th, 2013.

What have you thought about the clips? Are you still excited for the movie? Were you ever excited about the movie?

Bradley Cooper Cast in THE MAN FROM PRIMROSE LANE

Bradley Cooper hot off the success of Silver Linings Playbook, has been cast in the big screen adaptation of James Renner's novel The Man From Primrose Lane being developed by Warner Bros. The script will be written by Chad Feehan, a "Southland" writer whose script Beyond The Pale made the Black List.

The novel is about true-crime writer David Neff, who, in investigating the strange murder mystery of a recluse known as “the man with a thousand mittens,” quickly becomes obsessively embroiled in a chain of serial murders. The closer Neff comes to uncovering the true identity of the Man from Primrose Lane, the more he discovers his own dangerous connection to the series of crimes. He realizes in order to end the cycle of death and capture the killer he must look outside the parameters of what he believed to be true about time and space.

The premise sounds a bit mind bending, but it's a project that I'm pretty stoked on, esecially with Cooper on board.

You know you want it! Marvel has released a six freakin' second clip teasing a teaser (which is set to air today) for the 60-second Iron Man 3 spot that will air during the Super Bowl. It's really kind of absurd, but Disney spent about $8 million for this trailer, and I imagine they want to make sure everyone knows it's coming. The short sneak peek does include some new footage though! Most notably Don Cheadle as Rhodes sporting the Iron Patriot armor. The Super Bowl spot is sure to be packed full of new footage, so you wont want to miss it. But if you do, we'll get it up on the site for you as soon as it's available. Ridley Scott to Produce MIND MGMT Film Adaptation!

One of my favorite Comics of 2012 was Mind MGMT so I almost had a stroke due to extreme awesomeness when I learned that 20th Century Fox picked up the rights to it, and that Ridley Scott was going to produce it!

The book centers on a government agency consisting of psychic spies and their greatest asset, a man named Henry Lime. After he suffers a breakdown and loses control of his abilities, causing the populace of a town to kill each other, he goes on the run. Several years later, a true crime author named Meru, who was part of a flight where everyone mysteriously developed amnesia, is saved by Lime and begins to investigate the agency, uncovering her own secret connection to it.

Matt Kindt is an incredible writer and his art is so unique. This story would work so well on film and I am so psyched! Pun Intended.

First Look at THE MUPPETS... AGAIN

Here's a couple of photos from the upcoming Muppets sequel giving us our first look at the film which has been titled, The Muppets... Again. The photos give us our first look at Ricky Gervais, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy, and the rest of the gang gearing up for another fun adventure.

The photos come from EW, who also offers up some details on the film explaining that the Muppets are "enjoying a triumphant world tour, only to become tangled up with a criminal mastermind named Constantine, who is out to steal an enormous diamond—and who happens to be a dead ringer for Kermit." I enjoyed the first movie, and I hope this sequel ends up being just as entertaining. I don't see why it wouldn't, but you just never know.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on March 21st, 2014, and here's the press release with all of the details:

The filmmaking team behind 2011’s celebrated film “The Muppets” reunites as Disney’s “The Muppets … Again!” kicked off production last week in London. The all-new global Muppets adventure welcomes Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey to the mayhem, along with Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Walter and rest of the Muppets. The film is directed by James Bobin (“Flight of the Conchords,” “Da Ali G Show”), who was just nominated for a BAFTA for “The Muppets” (Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer), and produced by the Academy Award®-nominated team of David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (“The Fighter,” “The Proposal”). With a screenplay by Bobin and Nicholas Stoller (“The Five-Year Engagement”), who is also executive producer with John Scotti, “The Muppets … Again!” will feature music from Academy Award®-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie (“Flight of the Conchords”), who won an Oscar® for best original song for “The Muppets” (“Man or Muppet”). The new film will hit the big screen March 21, 2014.

“It’s great to be back working with the Muppets,” said Bobin, “some of them even remember my name occasionally now. As for the movie, it’s a tip of the hat to the old-school crime capers of the ’60s, but featuring a frog, a pig, a bear and a dog—no panthers, even pink ones—along with the usual Muppet-y mix of mayhem, music and laughs.”

Disney’s “The Muppets …Again!” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais, creator of “Derek” and the Golden Globe®- and Emmy®-winning series “The Office” and “Extras.” The film stars Golden Globe-, Emmy- and SAG Award®-winning actress and writer Tina Fey (“30 Rock,” “Mean Girls,” “Date Night”) as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Emmy Award winner Ty Burrell (TV’s “Modern Family”) as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.

Said Kermit the Frog, “This movie takes us places we’ve never been before. And trust me—this frog has never seen so much international flavor. I think audiences will eat it up—the entertainment, that is.”

Featuring a slew of surprising celebrity cameos, Disney’s “The Muppets … Again!” will shoot on location in London and in Hollywood, as well as in the famed Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, just outside of London.

I absolutely love Disney Animation's latest short film Paperman, which was shown before Wreck-It Ralph in theaters. This was just such a beautiful little love story that everyone will enjoy. If you haven't seen it yet, you're in for a real treat. If you have seen it, it's worth watching over and over again. I'm so happy Disney released this, it made my day.

The urban fairytale-like short was helmed by first-time director John Kahrs, who did an amazing job bringing it to life. Here's a little explanation on the technique that was used to make the short, as well as a little synopsis:

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, "Paperman." Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, "Paperman" pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.

Enjoy the show! Oh yeah! The short is also nominated for an Oscar, and it will proabably win.

Pierre Morel to Direct Sean Penn in PRONE GUNMAN

Taken director Pierre Morel is set to direct Sean Penn in a new action thriller called Prone Gunman. The movie will be an adaptation of the 1981 novel written by Jean-Patrick Manchette. The film seems like something Morel would take on, as it tells the story of a betrayed covert op who has to rely on his survival skills as he's being hunted across Europe. It's interesting that Penn is going to take on the part, as it seems like a different role for the actor. The script for the film was written by Dredd screenwriter Peter Travis.

Here's a description of the book:

Martin Terrier is a hired killer who wants out of the game—so he can settle down and marry his childhood sweetheart. After all, that’s why he took up this profession! But the Organization won’t let him go: they have other plans. Once again, the gunman must assume the prone shooting position. A tour de force, this violent tale shatters as many illusions about life and politics as bodies.

Sounds like an interesting project. What do you think about Penn taking on an action/thriller role like this following in the footsteps of Liam Neeson?

Here's an awesome piece of Star Wars fan art by Dave Bardin featuring Princess Leia. I absolutely love the style. It's a really fun character design, and I'd love to see what the other characters in the franchise would look like in this style. The piece captures everything that we love about this character, especially the attitude.

Kathleen Kennedy on How She Got J.J. Abrams to Direct STAR WARS

I was excited and surprised when news hit that J.J. Abrams was going to direct Star Wars: Episode VII. I didn't think he was even an option, because he said he wasn't interested in directing it, and he already had the Star Trek franchise to work on. He's the right man for the job though!

In a recent interview with THR Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy revealed how she got Abrams to change his mind and jump on board. Abrams said that "I learned firsthand how incredible and persuasive she is. The thing about any pre-existing franchise -- I'd sort of done that. But when I met with Kathy, it was suddenly very tantalizing."

Kennedy went on to talk about her meetings with Abrams, saying that they and the writers met secretly for about three hours on December 19th, and she says that "J.J. was just on the ceiling when I walked out the door." She went on to explain that Abrams had some "'very genuine concerns' about his obligations elsewhere and the impact on his wife and three kids, given the likelihood that the film would not be shot in Los Angeles. And then there was the unique nature of the franchise. If there was any pause on J.J.'s part, it was the same pause everybody has -- including myself -- stepping into this. Which is, it's daunting."

She ended up winning him over though, she summarized her pitch as simply... "Please do Star Wars." Kennedy added, "We spent a lot of time talking about how meaningful Star Wars is and the depth of the mythology that George has created and how we carry that into the next chapter. Our goal is to move as quickly as we can, and we'll see what happens. The timetable we care about is getting the story."

There's also a bit of trivia revealed in the article that I thought was cool. Kennedy has known Abrams since he was 14-years-old. Steven Spielberg read an article about him winning a Super 8 moviemaking contest and he ended up hiring the young Abrams to restore his own childhood Super 8 videos. How cool is that?!

Well, I'm sure that the fanboy and fangirl world couldn't be happier that Kennedy was able to talk Abrams into making the movie. It's in the right hands.
