In case you didn't know, I am a huge pizza fan. I can seriously eat pizza every day and be content. One of the things I hate when I order pizza and have it delivered is that it's not always properly cut. No worries anymore with this R2-D2 Pizza Cutter. In addition to being a fully functional pizza cutter, you will be serenaded by the soothing beeps that you have come to associate with R2 units

Pre-order this today for $19.99, and it will arrive in March. You can also buy it on Amazon.co.uk for £11.92, and it will soon be for sale on Amazon.com.

Frank Darabont's L.A. NOIR Gets New Title and Simon Pegg

SlashFilm has some news regarding Frank Darabont's upcoming TNT show. Darabont leaving The Walking Dead may have been loathed by many at the time, but when we see how epic his new TV show looks they might be singing a different tune. Based on John Buntin's book, L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America’s Most Seductive City. Originally titled L.A. Noir, the show has now had to change its name due to the Rockstar Video Game titled L.A. Noire

Now titled Lost Angels, the show will cover some of the same history covered by Gangster Squad. In addition to the name change, it looks like Simon Pegg will appear in a small role. Darabont recently spoke to io9 about the name change and Pegg's role in the show.

It was going to be called L.A. Noir, based on the book by John Buntin. But the video game company with the video game called L.A. Noire (with an e!) threatened to sue the s— out of me, TNT, every company that actually ever worked in Hollywood. And they have the billions of dollars to back it up, apparently. So we’re changing the title, and I do believe the title is going to be Lost Angels.

Here is what he had to say about Pegg's role in the show:

He plays a stand up comic in 1947. It’s not a funny role. It’s a serious role. He’s laying down a dramatic performance in a flawless, American dialect of the era… People who are Simon Pegg fans will be blown away by what he has done in this.

Below is the pilot's plot description:

Lost Angels stars Jon Bernthal as Joe Teague, an ex-Marine now working as an LAPD cop in an era rampant with police corruption. Jeffrey DeMunn plays Detective Hal Morrison, who heads the LAPD’s new mob squad, with Jeremy Strong as Detective Mike Hendry, Morrison’s second in command. Neal McDonough is Capt. William Parker, Teague’s boss who is determined to weed out corruption and bring down Cohen. And Milo Ventimiglia plays Ned Stax, who fought alongside Teague during World War II but who now works as a lawyer with connections to the mob. The project also co-stars Ron Rifkin playing Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Bowron, who makes it his mission to clean up corruption in city government; Pihla Viitala as Anya, the head bartender at Bunny’s on Central Avenue, the West Coast center of the black jazz scene; and Alexa Davalos as Jasmine, a beautiful woman whose past has come back to haunt her.

I am looking forward to this show. After rewatching The Mist, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile recently, I am in love with Darabont's style.

Edgar Wright is a fantastically geeky director, and by the looks of these videos, he always has been. Check out these cool clips of Wright as a teenager making various UK TV appearances to promote his early work. They were provided by Tom Haigh at the ITV archive.

Be sure to visit EdgarWrightHere to read his funny commentary on the vids. It is cool to see the clips and shorts from Wright's first feature film, A Fistful of Fingers. Check them out and share your thoughts in the rant back section.

I freakin' love the movies Stephen Chow has made! They include Kung-Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer. A trailer has been released for his next film project Journey to the West, and it looks pretty damn crazy! I have no idea what's going on in the trailer, but knowing Chow, I'm sure it's going to be incredibly entertaining! I like the trippy fun live-action cartoon tone. I hope this gets a U.S. release date! Check out the trailer, and let us know what you think of Chow's latest film!

Bradley Cooper in Talks to Star in J.J. Abrams' Lance Armstrong Film

The Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper is in talks to play Lance Armstrong in the J.J. Abrams produced film project based on the disgraced cyclist. After the movie was announced last week, Cooper expressed some interest in playing the cyclist. He ended up sending Abrams an e-mail, and Abrams confirmed to ET this last weekend that they've been talking.

The movie will be based on the proposed book by Juliet Macur, to be called Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong. The film will tell the story of the cyclist's inspiring rise and epically disgraceful fall.

When I first saw the news that they would be making this film, I immediately thought Cooper would be best actor to take it on. Now it looks like we might get to see him do it. What do you think about Copper possibly playing Armstrong?

Any Objections to Seeing Jessica Alba Dance More in SIN CITY 2?

I doubt many of you will have any objections to seeing Jessica Alba dancing again as Nancy Callahan in Robert Rodiguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. In fact, I've heard many people say watching her dance was the best part of the first movie. Well, if you believe that, then you're in luck because she's going to be dancing even more in the sequel.

In a recent interview with Vulture, she talked about it, explaining, "I had to learn a bunch of dance sequences for it. I do a lot more dancing in this one." She prepped for three months for the part, and explains that it was very difficult, "It was kind of crazy. It was very, very difficult, and you’ll see why." So that should be interesting to see.

New Photos from MAN OF STEEL Featuring Cavill, Crowe and Shannon

Thanks to Empire Magazine we've got a few new photos and a magazine cover featuring Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. The images also feature Michael Shannon as General Zod and Russell Crowe as Jor-el. The movie looks visually incredible, I just hope they got the story right this time. We know it's going to be very different from anything we've seen before, and that's exciting for me. This could end up being epically awesome, let's hope it doesn't end up being an epic fail.

The story follows "a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind."

Man of Steel hits theaters in 3-D June 14th, 2013, and it also starsKevin Costner as Pa KentAmy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy, Harry Lennixas as General Swanwick, Antje Traue as Faora, and Aylet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van.

Kirby Avengers - Artist Turns Our Beloved Puff Ball into Marvel's Avengers

Way back in the day, Kirby’s Pinball Land for the Nintendo Game Boy introduced me to our lovely pink puff of power. I used to play that game for hours and hours. Although we haven’t seen a Kirby game in recent years, it’s great to see fans that still love him.

One of those devoted fans is PAabloO on DeviantArt. He has turned Kirby into various Marvel Avengers themed incarnations, and it looks pretty awesome. My favorite would be a toss up between Iron Kirby and Kirby Hulk.

I said this in a recent post regarding a Mega Man/Star Wars crossover, but if LEGO can make great games that adopt storylines from other industries, do you think Kirby can? I would love to see a Kirby Avengers game, wouldn’t you?

J.J. Abrams Not Committed to STAR WARS 2015 Release Date

As you know J.J. Abrams is officially set to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, and like many of you, I couldn't be more excited! We now know for a fact that the next Star Wars movie is going to be freakin' great. But it sounds like we might have to wait a little bit longer to see it, because even though Abrams is committed to the film, he's not committed to the released date of 2015. There's a chance that date could change during the development process. Abrams just wants to do the movie right and if takes him more time to do so, then he's going to take it. In the end, we've already waited this long for a new Star Wars film to happen, and at one point we didn't think it would happen at all! I'm sure it won't hurt us to wait just a little longer for a great movie.

Abrams initially didn't want the directing gig, but Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy met with Abrams and convinced him to do it. Obviously Abrams liked her pitch, otherwise he wouldn't have signed on. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) has been writing the script for the film since October, and I can't wait to see what this team of talented people ends up giving us! Regardless of how bad the last Star Wars films were, this is sure to be way more awesome.

Official Photo from the Set of THOR: THE DARK WORLD

This is the first (kind of) official photo from Thor: The Dark World. We've seen a ton of behind the scenes photos and videos from the set, but this is the first one that has been officially released by the studio to Empire. It features Chris Hemsworth as Thor in Asgard being directed by Alan Taylor. There's no doubt in my mind that this movie is going to deliver above and beyond my expectations. Taylor is going to take the franchise to a who new level of gritty badassery.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

The movie is scheduled to be released in 3D on November 8th, 2013.

Brad Bird's 1952 Sci-Fi Film Is Now Called TOMORROWLAND

The secret sci-fi film project that Brad Bird, Damon Lindelof and George Clooney have been working on for Disney has been revealed! The movie was originally announced under the title 1952. Disney has now revealed that the official title of the movie will be Tomorrowland

The Walt Disney Studios has announced that its live-action release previously known as 1952 will be titled Tomorrowland. The film will be released domestically on December 19, 2014. George Clooney (The Descendants) is set to star. Tomorrowland is written by Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird from a concept by Lindelof and Jeff Jensen. Lindelof (Star Trek, Lost, Prometheus) will produce and Bird (The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) will produce and direct.

There's no official synopsis yet, but judging from the title, I'm sure the movie will loosely be inspired by Tomorrowland at the Disneyland parks. Maybe that 1952 box that Lindelof and Bird teased recently included ideas for Tomorrowland. Things are starting to click into place. It will be interesting to see what exactly their planning for the films story. This is some exciting stuff! I wonder what will they reveal next?

We do know that the story centers on aliens and that the movie will recapture the spirit of Steven Spielberg's classic movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Lucasfilm Kills STAR WARS 3D Re-Releases

Lucasfilm has decided not to re-release any more of the Star Wars movies in 3D. Instead, they will be focusing their attention on making more new Star Wars movies! This bit of news doesn't disappoint me at all, in fact I'm glad they cancelled the re-releases, there's really no point. It was just another cash grab, which is something Disney doesn't need. I never even saw Episode I: The Phantom Menace when it was released in 3D, and it only ended up pulling in $23 million. I'm very happy with all of the decisions that Lucasfilm has made since Disney bought them.

Episode II: Attack Of The Clones was supposed to hit theaters in 3D on September 20th, 2013, and Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith was to be released in 3D on October 11th, 2013. But not anymore! I wouldn't have paid any more money to see these movie in theaters again anyway. I'm much more excited to see what J.J. Abrams is going to give us! What do you think about the 3D re-releases being cancelled?

I really hope Paramount Pictures' World War Z movie ends up being good. I liked the trailer, but as you've seen, it's going to be nothing like the book by Max Brooks. Regardless, here's a fantastic series of World War Z fan-made poster art created for blurppy by artists Tracie Ching, Midnight Marauder, Marko Manev, Chris Garofalo, Marie Bergeron, Adam Rabalais, David Moscati, and Matt Ferguson. All of them are way better than the teaser poster that the studio released.

The story for the film revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

The movie was directed by Marc Forster, and it stars Brad PittMireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, and Matthew Fox. Look over the posters, and tell us what you favorite design is!

Sundance '13 Review: LOVELACE

$

0

Directors: Rob Epstein, Jeffrey Friedman

Screenwriter: Andy Bellin

Principal Cast: Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Adam Brody, James Franco and Sharon Stone

Official Synopsis: In 1972—long before the Internet porn explosion of today—Deep Throat became a cultural phenomenon. As the first pornographic feature film to be embraced by mainstream audiences, Deep Throat took a multitude of risks: it boasted a plot, humor, and an unknown and unlikely star named Linda Lovelace.

Lovelace tells the story behind the phenomenon.
Fleeing her strict religious family, Linda Boreman falls for charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor, who launches her pornography career. Reborn as “Linda Lovelace,” the charming girl next door skyrockets to international sensation with her uncanny capacity for fellatio. Fully inhabiting this new identity, Linda becomes a spokesperson for sexual freedom and hedonism. But six years later, she reveals a far more sinister narrative—the dark secrets of her own life story.

Story and Direction:

I'm sure most of you have heard of Linda Lovelace, the star of the most popular and highest grossing porn movies of all time, Deep Throat. Lovelace gives us the behind the scenes story of how Linda Lovelace ended up starring in the movie. It's a pretty dark tale, this poor girl lived through a nightmare and was basically forced into making the film by her abusive husband. It was a heavy drama that was pretty depressing.

The first half of the movie shows us the the fairy tale aspect of the story, the side of the story that most everyone knows and saw. The second half shows is what happened behind closed doors between Lovelace and her husband, and it wasn't pretty. He abused her both mentally and physically, and was constantly threatening her life if she didn't do the things he asked her to do. It was heartbreaking to watch.

The movie is based on a book that Lovelace wrote, and the publishers made her take a lie detector test to prove what she was claiming was true because people couldn'r believe it. She passed the polygraph, and went on to speak out against abuse and pornography. As depressing as this movie can be, at least it ended with her having changed her life for the better.

Performances:

The performances in the movie were fantastic. Amanda Seyfried was perfect as Lovelace; it's easily one of the best performances of her career. Peter Sarsgaard played her abusive husband, and I just couldn't help but hate this character so freakin much. He played the character so well that I just wanted something bad to happen to him. James Franco had a small role as Hugh Hefner which was interesting, I normally like Franco, but this role didn't fit him at all.

Similar To:

The movie is very similar to Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights, but it wasn't as good. It just had that same kind of setting and vibe. If you liked Boogie Nights then you'll probably like Lovelace.

Chances You'll See it in Theaters:

You'll definitely be able to see Lovelace in theaters as it was picked up by Harvey Weinstein. It's not a movie that you need to rush out and see in theaters, but its definitely worth watching a some point.

Quentin Tarantino's STAR WARS EPISODE VII Movie Poster

I am super excited that J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars Episode VII, but have been wondering what it would have been like if other directors had been offered the gig! These movie posters from IGN show us what it could have looked like if Quentin TarantinoTim Burton, or even Woody Allen were in the director's chair.

I think these are funny posters, but would not truly want any of the directors to helm Star Wars. Share your thoughts in the rant back section below.

Creepy MAMA Motion Tests Are Scarier Than the Movie

Have you seen the Guillermo del Toro produced horror film Mama yet? I really liked the first half of the movie and the concept. But the second half of the film was terrible, and the ending was was ridiculously bad. It wasn't the subject matter that pissed me off, it was just the way it was executed. It felt rushed, and it seemed like they just didn't really know how to end the movie properly. It could have been done a lot better. Anyway, even though the end of the film ruined the whole movie for me, there's a very creepy and cool behind the scenes video showing off some of the motion tests of the ghost. This is actually a lot scarier than the film itself. Check it out!

It seems like ages ago that I attended the Knights of Badassdom panel at Comic-Con, but that is because it truly has been. Despite a great cast that includes Peter Dinklage, Danny Pudi, Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, and Summer Glau, the film is yet to be released. Not to mention, it is directed by Joe Lynch

Hopefully the media blitz has begun, because we've got the first official trailer.

LARPing, battle scenes, comedy, and demons, what more could you ask for?
