Kid Gets His Own Spider-Man for Christmas - Video

I have always wanted a Red Ryder carbine action BB Gun, but have not gotten it for Christmas yet. This 3-year old kid asks for Spider-Man and gets a real-life superhero. Things are not fair... they are not fair I say! All joking aside, this is a pretty cool video to help get you into the holiday spirit.

Here is a description of the video:

My friend told me that his 3-year-old son Kieran wanted Spider-Man for Christmas, and I thought it would be fun to arrange a little surprise for him. I guess Kieran has been a very good boy this year!

Together, Spider-Man and Kieran visit Toronto’s Comic Book Lounge & Gallery where Kieran “shows (Spider-Man) his moves.”

Zachary Levi Now in the Running for Lead Role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Things are about to get very quiet as far as Hollywood news goes, but one actor is probably making a joyful noise right about now. Variety reports that Zachary Levi is now in the running for the lead role in Marvel's space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy.

But don't get too excited quite yet, Chuck fans. Levi is contending with Cloud Atlas star Jim Sturgess for the part of Star-Lord, aka Peter Quill, a space pilot who ends up at the center of a universal conflict and becomes the leader of a pretty strange bunch of superheroes. Sturgess was recently mentioned on the shortlist for the part, along with names like Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Lee Pace (Lincoln and The Hobbit), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom), but Marvel has reportedly narrowed their selection down to Levi, Sturgess, and an unnamed third actor who could be auditioning after the holidays.

Marvel must be extremely keen on Levi if they've brought him in to test for this part, because they've been eyeing him for roles in their films for a few years now. He was once slated to play the role of Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, in Thor, but the timing didn't work out and Joshua Dallas ended up taking the part. But for Thor: The Dark World, Levi has stepped in and will now play that role, so if he snags the part of Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, he'll be the first actor to play multiple roles in Marvel's Phase Two Universe. (Chris Evans played the Human Torch in Fantastic Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer, but with Josh Trank prepping a reboot and Evans moving on to play Captain America, that's kinda the only time it's happened so far. But those films were done by FOX anyway and in no way connected.)

Interesting stuff to consider. Unless you're a diehard Marvel fan, you probably don't know much about Guardians of the Galaxy, and I'm right there with you; still, I'm looking forward to what director James Gunn can do when he opens up the Marvel Universe to such a ridiculous extreme. Keep in mind this is just a casting update for right now (nothing is signed yet), and with that mystery actor possibly testing for the part after the holiday break, we'll be sure to keep you in the loop as soon as a final casting decision is made.

BACK TO THE FUTURE DeLorean LEGO Set

LEGO has done a great job of taking pop culture and creating great LEGO versions to extend the various universes. They have done an amazing job with their latest set based on Back to the Future, which has been a favorite film of mine since it was released.

The set features Marty McFly, Doc Brown and the Delorean. It was created by a fan as part of the LEGO Cuusoo project. Fans build the LEGO sculptures, and then their fellow fans vote on them. Once a design has been endorsed by 10,000 fans, it goes before the LEGO Review Board. This Back to the Future set was officially announced this past Thursday. The best part is that the designer gets 1% of the profits, which will be a pretty penny.

Check out the video announcement:

According to the LEGO Cuusoo blog, the set will arrive about mid-2013 is a good bet. Here is LEGO’s official reasoning for picking the set:

After analyzing the supporters of the Back to the Future project, we learned that this product has a broad, worldwide appeal. The model presented in this project is built very closely to the LEGO Group’s design standards and has therefore provided a strong base to design the final product. It has a high play value and it fits well with supporters’ price expectations.

For these reasons, the Back to the Future project has passed the LEGO Review, and has been selected for production as the next LEGO CUUSOO set. The final product, pricing, and release dates are still being determined.

Watch a second video of the set here:

The previously released trailer for Django Unchained was supposed to be the last trailer, but the Weinstein Company said "screw it," and released yet another trailer for Quentin Tarantino's highly anticipated film. The trailer features some more new footage from the film, and also includes John Legend's title track for the film. I guess they just wanted to get one more trailer out there to remind you to go see it when it comes out on Christmas day. I'll be there!

The Future According to Hollywood - Video Supercut

$

0

has created this fun movie music montage featuring several Hollywood movies that give us a glimpse of what our future might one day look like. The future definitely isn't as cool as I imagined it would be when I was a kid. In fact my whole vision of the future was based on what I saw in Back to the Future 2, and we're definitely not headed in that direction. Here's a note from the creator of the video.

THE FUTURE IS TOMORROW

Psst. Hey you, come a little closer. I want to tell you something about the future. It will either be: A mind-bendingly awesome; utopian landscape where all of Earth's problems have been resolved and technology and humanity have evolved to create harmony.

Or it might be a fucked-up dystopian nightmare. Where artificial intelligence has surpassed that of it's creators. Or perhaps humans have ravaged the Earth to such a degree that it has gone into full revolt. Or A scarcity of resources has humans warring over water. It depends on which film you watch or what time of day you might have asked Stanley Kubrick's opinion.

Eclectic Method has supercut some of our favorite scenes from movies that turn a predictive eye to the future. Blade Runner's Megacities alongside A.I.'s flooded New York and Idiocracy's run down shanty towns. Some technology predictions in these films have already proven to be accurate and some are still a ways off - or not! ... cameras on every corner, oil shortages, massive cultural uprisings in the middle east, retinal scans, X-Rays, flying cars and hoverboards, hybrid humans, robots, A.I., teleportation and so on. Who really watches Sci-Fi for the plot anyway, you wanna see the goodness condensed.

Rest assured though, in the future, as in the present, there will be both Coke and Pepsi!

What's your favorite vision of the future?

When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Sony Pictures wants to wish everyone a very Carrie Christmas! Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry, Stop-Loss) directed the remake that stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde and Ansel Elgort.

The movie opens in theaters on March 15, 2013.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie.  Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society.  Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Updates on ACME Looney Tunes Film and SUICIDE SQUAD

A couple of years ago it was announced that Warner Bros. would be making a live-action feature film based on the Looney Tunes ACME Warehouse where Wile E. Coyote got all of the crazy contraptions he used to try and catch his nemesis, Road Runner.

In a recent interview with Collider, producer Dan Lin gave a few little details on what they will be doing with the film, and revealed some info on the lead character.

We're not going to use Looney Tunes in the ACME movie, it's a live action movie. What were so excited about is the lead character is a Steve Jobs meets Dean Cameron kind of character and because it's ACME you can create some incredibly funny, wacky inventions that you can't do on any other movie. So naturally it's just a super imaginative movie.

He also explained that they are heavily inspired by Wile E. Coyote, and that they're currently hearing different pitches from writers. This could end up being a really great film if they can nail down a solid story. Lin went on to give an update on DC's Suicide Squad film adaptation, revealing that there's a script that's been written by Justin Marks, but that it's not going to get made anytime soon.

I think Warner Brothers wants to finish their A-list stories first and then we'll talk about stories like Suicide Squad.

I think Suicide Squad could be a great movie with the right team of talent involved. Hopefully one day it will happen.

Stupid Ass Trailer for SCARY MOVIE 5

I'm not a big fan of the Scary Movie franchise. The first one was pretty fun, but every parody film since that has been like nails scratching across a chalk board to me. The first trailer for Scary Movie 5 has been released and it looks stupid as hell. The movie pokes fun at movies like Paranormal Activity, Inception and Black Swan. This is one of those films that I will never waste my time watching.

The movie stars Ashley Tisdale, Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Molly Shannon, Terry Crews, Heather Locklear, Kate Walsh, Mike Tyson, Katt Williams and more. Here's the synopsis,

Snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French dance company director Pierre is putting on a new production. Jody (Tisdale), a Caucasian late-20s mother of two and her late-20s African American friend Kendra (Ash) are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody’s extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30s Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry (Shannon), gets cut from the production and goes berserk.

Scary Movie 5 hits theaters on April 12th, 2012. Are you a fan of these movies, or will you be avoiding it like the plague?

Star Trek's Walter Koenig (Checkov) stars in this well made sci-fi drama short film called Flashback. The movie was written and directed by Steve Petersen, and it's a solid story that centers on Dr. Joseph Griffin, an inventor that has "created a device meant to allow people to relive their fondest memories. However, he uses it to relive his greatest regret." Koenig gives a great performance in the short, and as a whole I think it turned out great! Check it out!

BLADE RUNNER - Extremely Cool and Rare Concept Art

I love it when awesome stuff from older films finds its way online! Here's a great set of very rare storyboard art for Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi film Blade Runner. The movie wasn't well received by audiences when it first came out in 1982, but since then it's gathered a huge fan following and a lot more respect. The movie was just ahead of its time.

The storyboard art and notes comes from Geoff Hutchins, who has a huge Blade Runner collection. He tells Gizmodo, "I have to be honest and say that I do not have an accurate item count," and says that these storyboards are among his favourite items. To check out more of his collection head over to his website, Ridleyville.com.

BLAZING SADDLES and DJANGO UNCHAINED Trailer Mashup

Check out this incredibly cool fan-made trailer that mashes together the classic Mel Brooks comedy western Blazing Saddles with Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. The trailer was created by Lance Ford, and the two films work great together. Here's what Ford had to say about the video,

When trying to choose which movies I would like to mash up, I first consider if it's something that people would find entertaining. Secondly, I try to find 2 movies that have some sort of common thread. For this particular mashup, I found the relationship of Chirstoph Waltz & Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) an interesting comparison to that of Gene Wilder & Cleavon Little (Blazing Saddles). One of AFI's funniest movies ever combined with one of the most anticipated movies of 2012. What's not to love? Please share and enjoy.

Enjoy the mashup, and check out Ford's previous mashup trailer featuring The Goonies and The Hobbit.
