THE WALKING DEAD Season 4 Officially Announced!

The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara and AMC have officially announced that the epic zombie series will be getting a fourth season! It's not surprising because the show is not only incredible, but it's doing very well in the ratings. But there's a catch... Mazzara won't be returning as the showrunner, because he and the network can't seem to agree on where the series should go. I really don't understand why AMC keeps getting rid of the showrunners! If you remember the same thing happened with Frank Darabont. They do an incredible job with the series, taking it to amazing levels of greatness, and then they let 'em go. It's got to be some kind of behind the scenes powerplay or politics. They kill off the showrunners just as much as they kill off the main characters. Anyway, here's the announcement...

Today, AMC announces the season 4 pick-up of The Walking Dead.

AMC also jointly announces with Glen Mazzara today that for future seasons, the two parties have mutually decided to part ways.  Glen guided the series creatively for seasons 2 and 3.  AMC is grateful for his hard work.  We are both proud of our shared success.

Both parties acknowledge that there is a difference of opinion about where the show should go moving forward, and conclude that it is best to part ways.  This decision is amicable and Glen will remain on for post-production on season 3B as showrunner and executive producer.

Mazzara wrote six episodes of the series, and has been the series showrunner since Darabont left. I'm excited that there will be a fourth season, I just hope the network takes the series in the right direction. At least creator Robert Kirkman will always be there to help steer it.

The second half of The Walking Dead season 3 is set to return on Sunday, February 10th, 2013, and I can't wait to see how far it goes!

What do you all think about a fourth season and the fact that Mazzara won't be involved?

It seems like all of this end of the world talk has ignited a fire at the studios who are producing end of the world films. Yesterday we got to see the first trailer for Seth Rogen and James Franco's hilarious looking comedy This is the End, and today we get our first look at Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's film The World's End.  Pegg tweeted the above photo today to celebrate the end of principal photography. The film also features Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and Eddie Marsan

The movie sounds like it's going to be really fun, and as a fan of these guys, I'm looking forward to seeing it. The movie comes out on October 25th.

Synopsis:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

JACK REACHER Video Review - This Movie Was Badass!

We recently had the opportunity to hit up a screening for Tom Cruise's new action thriller Jack Reacher, and I absolutely loved it! Cruise was great in the lead role and director Christopher McQuarrie (The Way of the Gun, writer of The Usual Suspects) did a fantastic job bringing it to life. It was extremely action packed, there was a lot of fun humor, and it just ended up being one hell of an entertaining movie! I highly recommend you go check it out in theaters when you get a chance. Jack Reacher is a solidly well made film, and I think many of you will really enjoy it. To hear more about what we thought of the film watch our video review below!

Disney has announced that Pixar's Cars spin-off film Planes will be getting a theatrical release on August 9th, 2013. Like Cars 2, the movie was originally supposed to be a direct-to-home video release, but the studio must feels like it's good enough to get a big screen release, and Pixar fans are sure to flock to theaters to see it.

Synopsis:

PLANES takes off with an international cast of the fastest air racers around, in a comedy packed with action and adventure starring Dusty, a small town dreamer who longs to enter the most epic around-the-world air race … despite his fear of heights. With the help and support of a fleet of new and hilarious characters, Dusty wings his way into the biggest challenge of his life.

The movie stars Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), and it looks like will be a fun movie! Here's the previously released teaser trailer. Do you think Planes looks promising enough to justify a big-screen release?

Damon Lindelof Talks about Working with Brad Bird on 1952

A few months ago is was announced that Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird would be developing a new sci-fi film for Disney under the name 1952. It was previously revealed that the two talents are looking to recapture the spirit of 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, right down to centering it around a man in his late forties, like Richard Dreyfuss’s Roy Neary, and there's been talk of George Clooney being that guy.

In a recently interview with Collider Lindelof talks about working on the project with Bird who is both directing and co-writing the film. Lindelof also reveals that they hope to start production on the movie sometime next year. He begins by giving us the lowdown on how the movie came about,

The writing of Trek was happening around the same time as the post production on Ghost Protocol so we were both in that a Bad Robot space at lot at that time and kind of became buds.  I told him about this thing that I was working on over here at Disney.  We were eating sushi, just one of those like, “So, what are you working on?” “Brad what are you doing after you wrap up on Ghost Protocol?” “Damon what are you doing after Trek?” And so I started talking about this thing and I could just see his eyes light up a little bit and I’m now totally willing to blow up this budding friendship because if I don’t my take a shot at him not I’ll be kicking myself forever.  Which is to say, “Hey, if you would ever want to be involved in this thing in any way, shape or form, just call yourself an executive producer and I’ll give you a parking spot and you don’t even need to do anything on it.  That would be a dream come true.

Then we just started exchanging emails and talking about it and then this guy Jeff Jensen, who’s a friend of mine, he and I really worked on the – when you finally hear about what this thing is I’ll be able to be much more explicit about what it is.  Anytime something interesting happened in the development process I would just let Bird know, “Hey we had this cool idea today.” In the spirit of letting him know that I wasn’t letting him off the hook.  And then the next thing I knew I was asking him if he would direct it and he said yes.  He and have now been co-writing the movie for the last four months and that’s been an incredible experience because anytime you write with a partner that you haven’t written with before they call bullshit on all your tricks that you have come to rely on and feel comfortable with, and then you learn from them in terms of how to think and how to evolve.

Im very intrigued by this movie project, and apparently Disney has given then a lot of creative freedom to realize this story that they want to tell.

We’ve been given a tremendous amount of creative licensee by Disney, which is kind of surprising just because they’re Disney and they have a specific, corporate brand to maintain.  But it’s been really wonderful working with them.  Obviously Brad had Disney in his veins, even though he was fired back in his days as an animator, it’s good to be back in the old animation building knocking a story around.

So next time I'm on the Disney lot I know where to find these guys working! I'll make sure pop in on the old animation building. Lindelof concludes by talking about the production saying,

We have to lock down some key casting elements and we have to make sure that the movie isn’t going to cost them (Disney) an arm and a leg.  I have confidence that we’ll be able to accomplish both those things and hopefully when we do we’ll be able to announce what this movie is.

I'm looking forward to finding out more information on this. I'm a big fan of both Lindelof and Bird, and I can't wait to see what they are creating for us! Click Here to read some theroies of what the movie might be based on.

Vin Diesel's HANNIBAL THE CONQUEROR Moving Forward!

Vin Diesel has been trying to get a film trilogy called Hannibal the Conqueror off the ground for years, and the actor just announced on Facebook that it's moving forward! Here's what he posted,

When a dream is born in your childhood. When you spend a decade daring to pursue it... The day, a head of a studio says... 'I want to make all three films of your Hannibal trilogy!' Haha... It takes a minute to sink in... Shhhhh... it's still sinking in.

There's no word on what studio the project is set up at, but Diesel seems excited as hell for it. And I'm excited that he's excited, because this could be a great film project! I wonder if Diesel is going to get to direct it like he wanted to. He will definitely star in the film as the Carthaginian military commander Hannibal Barca, who is considered to be one of the greatest military commanders in history. Click here for more information on the commander!

There's not a lot of details on the movie at this point, but there's a lot of historical events that it can pull from. It's really awesome that Diesel has found a studio that's willing to make it. Hopefully it has a smooth transition into production and then to the big screen!

Superman and Batman Discuss MAN OF STEEL Trailer

Here's a fun animated comedy sketch from the gang over at How It Should Have Ended featuring Superman and Batman talking about the latest trailer for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. The conversation moves into the fact that Christopher Nolan's producing credit is thrown into the trailer, and Batman argues that's the only reason why people are excited to see it.

"From the makers, of that one movie you love, in this case movies. Comes this other movie! That's in no way the same, but we want you to think it will be."

Of course Superman doesn't agree, and makes his own argument against the Dark Knight Rises trailer. It's a pretty fun sketch, check it out! Be sure to share your thoughts and let us know why/if you are excited for Man of Steel.

The Place Beyond the Pines is a rich dramatic thriller, tracing the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villains.

The movie was directed by Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance. I think this looks like a great film! Watch the trailer for yourself and let us know if this is a movie you want to see.

Beautifully Animated Cute Sci-Fi Short - STRAY

Stray is a wonderful CG animated sci-fi short film directed by Andrew Atteberry. He was able to create this great little film with the help of others from iAnimate workshop and Magnetic Dreams Animation Studio. The short has a great look and cute story. It centers on a lonely man who's assigned at some kind of outpost station in the sky. While there he gets an unexpected visitor that brightens his day.

Here's a little background information on the film from the director:

An iAnimate.net internal student project, directed by fellow student Andrew Atteberry. About the project from the director: This is a collaborative short film project I initiated during my time at iAnimate, a series of online animation workshops created by Dreamworks animator Jason Ryan. I was very fortunate and lucky to have so many talented animators want to help me with this project that were also attending iAnimate at the time. In addition to the help I received from iAnimate, Magnetic Dreams Animation Studio helped me bring this film across the finish line by allowing me use of their render farm and a large portion of their staff. Magnetic Dreams went so far above and beyond the call of duty in helping me to get this project through all of the stages of production, I certainly could not have pulled this together without them. Solid Angle was a big part of the team as well, they graciously helped with render licenses for their proprietary render engine "Arnold" which really helped add a beautiful look to the final frames. Finally, music and sound design provided by wonderfully talented Cathleen Flynn and Tim Gilmer (respectively) They really stepped up when I needed something unique and fitting and gave this film its voice. I'm extremely proud of what this group of people, from all corners of the globe, accomplished together (especially considering the non-existent budget :) I hope that you enjoy STRAY as much as I enjoyed the experience of making it!

This is a great looking entertaining short, so I hope you enjoy it!

They were the lead concept artists on The Lord of the Rings, and were in charge of helping create the world of The Hobbit trilogy.

LITTLE BIG PLANET 2: Series 5 Marvel Costumes Debut

Lets get down to what's most important about this pack. Nova. Even the non Richard Rider Nova is still better than no Nova at all, and he looks equal parts adorable and awesome. Also included in the new assortment are Black Bolt, Star Lord, Iron Fist, and Black Widow. You can peep all their pics down below. The pack is out this week, with series 6 coming out early next year.

As for who is in series 6, there has only been one reveal, and that happens to be everyone's favorite 4th wall buster, Deadpool. No word yet on the others for that set, but when those are revealed I'll let you know. It's sad, but I just want to walk around with the Sackboy version of Groot one day. That's it. No building levels or anything complicated like that. Just me walking around other people's levels yelling, "Groot!" Sounds like an afternoon well invested to me.

Great New Trailer for LES MISERABLES - On My Own

Another trailer has been released for Les Miserables and it features Samantha Barks as Eponine singing a beautiful rendition of the song "On My Own." Barks played this same role on Broadway, and as you'll see and hear, she completely owns this musical number. It's also got some more new footage from the film.

The movie comes out on Christmas day, and also stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen

I grew up listening to this musical, and I really hope it lives up to the expectations that I have set. Every review that I've seen has been glowing so that's a good sign.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, the December 25 release tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Hugh Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
