Hilarious Red-Band Trailer for Seth Rogen's THIS IS THE END

0
0

Seth Rogen faces down the apocalypse in his new movie This is the End, which was previously called End of the World. Rogen not only stars in the highly anticipated comedy, but he directed it as well with Evan Goldberg, which is a first for him. He also brought a lot of his actors friends along for the ride. The movie stars James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, Jay Baruchel, and Jason Segel. It also features Rihanna, Emma Watson and Aziz Ansari who all end up at a party at Franco's house.

A new 3-minute Red-Band trailer has been released for the film, and it looks absolutely hilarious! Rogen and Franco introduce the trailer, and they explain that they want to make sure we get to see at least some of the movie in case the world does end.

Synopsis:

The comedy This Is The End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

This Is The End opens on June 14th, 2013, and I can't wait to see it!

Here's a hilariously fun parody trailer called The Hobbit Games that combines The Hobbit and The Hunger Games. It tells the story of how Bilbo Baggins was plucked from The Shire and forced to fight for his life in the Middle Earth Hunger Games! The trailer was created by Flashback Films, and it turned out great! I'm sure it will entertain you.

BEYOND GOOD & EVIL: Jade Art Reminds You Just How Cool She Can Be

For those who remember (you know, the other 5 of you that bought it), Beyond Good & Evil is one of those cult classic games that has developed a small but vocal following since its initial release. It's remembered fondly for its fun, colorful world, as well as its wonderful sense of humor. Above all else though, BG&E is remembered for its stellar and damn cool main character, Jade. Caring, compassionate, curious, and when she needed to be; deadly. Jade is one of the best female characters around, and it's a shame that we might not get another chance to see her in action.

Okay, soapbox completed. On to the art.

The awesome work you see above was done by Omri Koresh, an artist based out of Israel. He's got some interesting stuff in his Deviant Art gallery, but when it comes to this piece specifically I love his use of all the varying hues of green. His painted style walks the line between pseudo realistic and slightly cartoony, and while it differs from the game's style somewhat, to me it nails the feel of the game perfectly. I also dig that while she's still drawn as attractive, she doesn't feel over-sexualized at all. Not saying cheesecake is bad, just that I like my art in other styles as well.

Here's hoping we haven't seen the last of her. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Peter Jackson Teases That He'll Direct a DOCTOR WHO Episode

A few months ago Matt Smith expressed his desire for director Peter Jackson to direct an episode of Doctor Who. When Jackson was asked if he would be interested in directing an episode he said,

I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt’s fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!

Jackson recently attended a screening of the 2012 Doctor Who Christmas Special, "The Snowmen." While there he was asked by the London Evening Standard if he would be collaborating with Doctor Who's Steven Moffat, to which he replied with a grin,

Well, you never know, we may well do.

This is more of a tease than confirmation. But it would be so awesome if Jackson did end up directing an episode of Doctor Who! I have no doubt it would be awesome! I'd love it if he went back to his horror movie roots with the series if he did.

Jackson worked with Moffat on The Adventures of Tintin, and I imagine they'll work together on the sequel as well. Hopefully somewhere in between they will do a Doctor Who episode!

The movie was written and directed by Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders, (Lilo & Stitch, How To Train Your Dragon), and stars Nicolas Cage, Ryan ReynoldsEmma StoneClark DukeCatherine Keener and Cloris Leachman.

Cinema 2012 - Great Video Montage of This Year's Films

0
0

Editor  has created yet another great end of the year movie montage for 2012. The video is called Cinema 2011, and here's a note from the editor who has been making these for the last five years.

Our last night on earth; what better way to spend it than with Cinema. Avengers assembled, dark knights rose and odds were in our favor in a fantastic year in film. Epic conclusions conquered the box office, but smaller pictures like Beasts of the Southern Wild, Seeking A Friend for the End of the World, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Imposter and Ruby Sparks conquered the hearts of audiences around the world. It seems every story we’ve heard deserved to be told.

This year was not free of tragedy, however, and it struck close to home. It made me realize the importance of our shared love for cinema; in the darkest of times, it will bring us together. This recap shows the importance of love in difficult times, how we fool ourselves to cope with the pain we cause others and, in the face of the apocalypse, how small we really are. Cinema is a friend, a teacher, a refuge and a safe place. Here’s to that dream.

This fifth episode is also the finale of my Cinema series. It’s been a tremendous joy and I’ve learned so much from your kind words and feedback. This project demanded a lot of time and effort and to see it rewarded so graciously was absolutely mind-blowing. Thank you all for your support these past years, it’s meant so much to me.

Check out the video, and let us know what you thought the most entertaining movie was for you in 2012!

OBLIVION Trailer Commentary From Director Joseph Kosinski

Earlier this month the first trailer was released for Tom Cruise's new sci-fi film Oblivion, and it gave us our first awesome look at this epic story created by Joseph Kosinski. I'm incredibly excited for this movie, and if you are as well then you've got to watch this video commentary of the trailer with the director of the film. He gives a lot of great insight into the story, characters, and various other aspects of the film that I'm sure you didn't catch or know about when you first watched the trailer. There's a few fun surprises, and this is definitely worth watching.

The movie will be released in IMAX theaters on April 12th, 2013 and in conventional theaters on April 19th, the film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.

Synopsis:

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

The Official GAME OF THRONES Beer - Iron Throne

0
0

Here's your first look at the official Game of Thrones beer. I'm sure a ton of fans will be enjoying a nice cold bottle of Iron Throne while watching Game of Thrones. The beer was produced by HBO and Brewery Ommegang. The beer was "crafted to directly tie into themes and nuances of the medieval-like fantasy realm of Westeros and the surrounding kingdoms." Phil Leinhart, brewmaster at Ommegang had this to say in a statement,

It made us approach development in a completely new way and I think the first edition Iron Throne reveals that. With a Lannister currently on the throne, it made sense to do a delicate, but piercing Golden Blonde Ale with Noble hops. Iron Throne is certainly fair in color and soft in appearance, yet it still possesses a complexity and bite to be on guard for.

Iron Throne will hit shelves in March at a cost of $8.50 per bottle. Are there any other Tie in movie or TV show beers you'd like to see get made?

Funny Trailer for THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the magic based comedy, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The movie has a great cast of actors that includes Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, Jim Carrey, Jay Mohr and Michael Bully Herbig. I was really hoping that this movie would be good, and judging from this first trailer it looks like it is going to deliver some entertaining comedy. As you'll see there are some great over-the-top characters that will be fun to watch.

Synopsis:

Superstar magicians Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) and Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) have ruled the Las Vegas strip for years, raking in millions with illusions as big as Burt’s growing ego. But lately the duo’s greatest deception is their public friendship, while secretly they’ve grown to loathe each other. Facing cutthroat competition from guerilla street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), whose cult followingsurges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. But there’s still a chance Burt and Anton can save the act—both onstage and off—if Burt can get back in touch with what made him love magic in the first place.

The movie comes out on March 15th, 2013! Do you think this looks like a funny comedy?

I have a feeling that The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is going to end up being a great comedy. I really enjoyed the trailer for the film that was released last night! There's also posters featuring Olivia Wilde and Steve Buscemi.

Facing cutthroat competition from guerrilla street magician Steve Gray (Carrey), whose cult following surges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. GAME OF THRONES' Westeros Re-created in Minecraft

Two big Game of Thrones fans by the names of Will Blew and Jacob Granberry have created the incredible world of Westeros in MineCraft, and they released a video called WesterosCraft: A Year of Ice and Fire showing it off. I have to say, what they ended up creating is epic.

These guys even created a website called WesterosCraft, which is devoted to "recreating George R.R. Martin's universe, brick by brick." They were inspired by other Minecraft players who had built 1:1 versions of Hogwarts and Middle Earth.

This video showcases just a fraction of what we have accomplished the last year on WesterosCraft. It turns out recreating an entire continent is no small feat. The past four months have been devoted to remaking Kings Landing featured at the beginning of the video. Our new version of Kings Landing features over 2000 unique houses each individually furnished. Be sure to stay tuned to our video for much much more future content!

It's hard for me to comprehend how these two guys could pull this off, but it turned out awesome. Check it out!

FRANKENWEENIE Short Pics - Captain Sparky Vs. the Flying Saucers

0
0

Here's a couple of images from the new Frankenweenie short film called Captain Sparky Vs. the Flying Saucers. As you saw in the film, young Victor wants to be a filmmaker, so this is kind of a movie within a movie, it's a film Victor would have made if he was real. The short will be a part of the special features on Frankenweenie‘s Blu-ray/DVD release. The story focuses on Sparky’s attempts to save the world from an alien invasion.

The short was directed by Frankenweenie animation supervisor Mark Waring, and written by Frankenweenie co-producer Derek Frey. Waring talks about the film in an interview with USA Today saying,

In the short, there are a few sections of (Victor) trying to very early use stop-frame technique. The whole thing's stop-frame, so how do you make it look more stop-frame than it actually is.

The key was to add in aspects like the "camera" being knocked around, showing mistakes like hands getting in the frame, having flying saucers appear with strings on them and the occasional jumps and bumps — "all of those things to get the sense of how that would actually be if you made the film as a kid."

Mr. Whisker's will also play a part in the short, and Waring talked about this insane looking cat as well saying,

Nobody had really thought about how that would actually work. Then when we made him and stuck him on set, it was instantly a lift for everybody. It was this insane character with these mad, stare-y eyes who just meowed.

I really enjoyed Frankenweenie and I'm sure this will be a fun short. I also wouldn't mind seeing a sequel somewhere down the line. I guess it's not out of the question, the director of the short added,

Everything's in place. There's a whole world waiting. If there's any chance of a Frankenweenie 2, I'm sure everybody would love it.

The DVD/Blu-ray is set to be released on January 8th, 2013! Are you open to seeing a Frankenweenie sequel?

New Character Photos and Info for the Sci-Fi Film AFTER EARTH

0
0

The official website has been launched for M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming sci-fi film After Earth, and it contains a bunch of new character photos of Jaden Smith and Will Smith. There's also a ton of information about the film including character bios for Kirai Raige and Cypher Raige, and the planet they come from, Nova Prime. Some of the info includes a breakdown of weapons, training, bad guys and more. There's also an interesting section called "Project Next Generation," which give us some info on why the humans left Earth, and why it's now considered the most dangerous place in the Universe.

Shyamalan created a pretty extensive and detailed backstory for this movie. It looks like it could be good, but all of Shyamalan's films look like they could be good at first. Then when you go see them they end up being not so good. The last decent movie Shyamalan made was Signs, and his name is so tainted right now that the studio wont even show it in the trailer for After Earth fear it would make people not want to see the movie. Will Smith's name is selling this movie.

Check out some screenshots from the site below and then head on over to it to look around for yourself.

A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
