New Poster for Sylvester Stallone's BULLET TO THE HEAD

A new poster has been released for Sylvester Stallone's latest action film Bullet to the Head. The movie was directed by Walter Hill and is based on the graphic novel created by Alexis Nolent. I'm always up for a ridiculous looking action movie, and this one has an axe fight, so it's got that going for it!

In the film, a hitman (Stallone) teams with a young NYPD detective played by Sung Kang in a high-stakes investigation that leads from dingy back alleys all the way to the power corridors of New Orleans. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.

The action thriller is set to open on February 1st, 2013 and also co-stars Sung Kang, Sarah Shahi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christian Slater and Holt McCallany. Check out the trailer for the film if you haven't seen it yet, or if you just need a reminder of what that axe fight will look like.

PACIFIC RIM - Guillermo del Toro Offers Trailer Commentary

Guillermo del Toro sat down with MTV to offer up some cool commentary on the trailer for his epic looking film Pacific Rim. There's some great insight that he offers in which he explains that the whole visual style of the film is scale. He explains why he chose the shots he did to be in the trailer. He discusses the pilots, suits and the technology used in the film. He then moves on to discuss the characters, giving us a little background on them. Oh! He also says that we'll see what's on the other side of the inter-dimensional portal where the monster come from!

I have no doubt that this movie is going to be a hell of a fun ride. Del Toro knows how to tell a good story, and this one is set around giant robots fighting giant monsters... it's going to be a huge hit! Pacific Rim is set to be released on July 12th 2013.

The movie stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Idris Elba (Thor), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, DiegoKlattenhoff and Brad William Henke.

Synopsis:

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD - New Poster and IMAX Announcement

A new poster has been released for John Moore's A Good Day to Die Hard. It features Bruce Willis as John McClane and his son played by Jai Courtney in the middle of some kind of crazy fire fight. It was also announced that the film would be released in IMAX.

The movie comes out on February 14th, 2013, and it looks like it's going to be a really fun action-packed film. It definitely looks better than the last Die Hard movie, but I'll be surprised if it ends up being better than the first three.

Since the first "Die Hard" in 1988, John McClane has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.

Great Pitch on How to Bring Back THE X-FILES!

I would love to see another X-Files movie, and one day that might happen. But, what also might happen is that Fox could reboot the series. If that ever does happen Josh Hallman has a great pitch for a series that the studio should listen to. It's basically a Mulder origin story, which has a ton of great elements that would make for an incredible series. This should seriously be considered... watch the pitch and let us know if you like the idea!

This AT-AT inspired Kids Clubhouse/walkway might not be a full AT-AT replica, but it's still pretty damn awesome, and any kid or adult Star Wars fan would be lucky to have one! Who cares that it's missing the head! It's better than the cardboard box I use to play in that my imagination turned into an X-Wing, AT-AT, and the Millennium Falcon... actually you know what? Now that I think about it, maybe it's not because that cardboard box was pretty rad!

OBLIVION Director Compares New Sci-Fi Film to OMEGA MAN

Earlier this week the first trailer was released for Joseph Kosinski and Tom Cruise's sci-fi action film Oblivion, and it looks really awesome! It seems like there's a lot of excitement about the movie. The director recently sat down with MTV to talk about the film's story, getting Cruise on board, the look of the film and bringing sci-fi into the light.

I loved what I saw in the trailer, and this movie looks like it has the potential to be a great sci-fi film! Kosinski is a solid visual director, and after reading this interview is sounds like the story and character focus is going to be solid as well. He compares the film to films of the 70s like Omega man and Silent Running. There's some really interesting stuff in the interview so it's worth the read.

On the story:

I started writing this small character-driven science fiction story that was in the vein of those science fiction films of the 1970s that involved this lone survivor among the ruins of civilization, like 'Omega Man' or 'Silent Running' — it was kind of in that vein. I thought if it was going to be my first movie it would have to be something very small and contained in order to even get a chance at pulling it off. So it's the story of a drill repair man, Jack Harper, who is one of the last human beings left on earth after a massive war, which was the result of an alien invasion. Even though humankind won the war, Earth was left in such a state that we had to look for another place to settle, and Jack is left behind to monitor and secure the resource gathering operation that's happening where we're gathering the last bit of energy out of the earth's seawater in order to move onto the next step.

On the graphic novel that the movie is based on:

That was the original treatment, the story. At the time I was ready to turn it into a screenplay, WGA went on strike and we couldn't actually hire a screenwriter to work on a screenplay at that point. So in order to keep the process moving forward I teamed up with Radical Comics to develop and illustrate a novel in parallel based on this story. And we did that over a couple years, and then I got pulled into 'Tron,' which was a couple years, and as 'Tron' was in post [production] I had enough between the story and the illustrations I had done with Andre, the artist, I had enough of a package to go out and set the project up at a studio which is what I did. And then I went into feature mode so, we never actually finished the graphic novel because once it got picked up I realized that the way I wanted this story to be experienced was on the big screen and not out of the book.

On getting Tom Cruise on board:

It was our final Comic-Con for 'Tron,' and while I was showing the big Comic-Con trailer and we were doing our big song and dance for 'Tron: Legacy,' I was also launching an ashcan for 'Oblivion'—which was just kind of like an introductory chapter with eight images at the Radical [Comics] booth. And the day after I got back from Comic-Con, I got a call from Tom's agent saying that Tom had seen the ashcan and wanted to meet me and talk to me about it. I went over and met him at his hanger and I pitched him the full story 'cause he had just read that introductory beat—there wasn't a script at that point it was a story in my head. And I pitched him the whole story over about two hours and at the end of the meeting he said, 'Let's do this. I want to do this. I want to do this movie with you.' ... The role fits him like a glove. I just can't imagine anyone else playing this character.

On bringing sci-fi into daylight:

Visually, I always knew exactly what I wanted the film to look like. 'Alien' is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I feel like after 'Alien,' science fiction kind of went into the dark for a long time. It became about deep space and dark ship holes and it just went into darkness. I liked the idea of bringing science fiction out into the daylight again. So it is a daytime science fiction film where the world is kind of divided into two zones: the world above the clouds and the world below the clouds. The world above the clouds is where Jack lives with Victoria, his partner, in this operation, in the skytower which is 3,500 ft. above the ground, away from the dangers that live below, which is a very different world from the ground where Jack actually has to do his job every day. And that juxtaposition to me in concept lends itself into a visual juxtaposition as well, where you're gonna see technology set against a landscape that I feel is something we haven't really seen before.

One what we haven't seen yet:

I think the trailer does a good job at hinting that the film does have a number or twists and turns and there are hard questions being asked and there is a character who is under pressure. But I don't really want to say much more than that as to what the plot of the movie is.

The movie is set to be released in IMAX theaters on April 12th, 2012 and will hit regular theaters on April 19th, the film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. You can watch the trailer again for the film here!

On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion was shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.

Oblivion arrives in theaters on April 19, 2013.

BATES MOTEL Series - First Great Promo Trailer

A&E has released the first full promo trailer for their new series Bates Motel, which as you know is based on Alfred Hitchcock's classic psychological horror thriller Psycho. I really liked what I saw in this first trailer, and it looks like it's going to be an awesomely well made twisted series. The video below also includes a behind the scenes look at the show.

The new show gives us the background story of Norman Bates dark past, from childhood through his teen years. It will follow how his mother and her lover screwed Norman up, turning him into the crazy serial killer that he became. It was also reveal that the story also won't be limited just to what occurs in the rooms of the motel. It will also focus on the the town itself. Carlton Cuse (Lost) says, "There are a lot of secrets that lurk beneath this bucolic veneer."

The cast includes Freddie Highmore as a young Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga as his mother Norma Bates, as well as Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell, Mike Vogel, Olivia Cooke and Max Thieriot.

Bates Motel, serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film, “Pyscho,” and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years.

Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.

The first episode is called "First You Dream, Then You Die", and here's this description, “Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start with her teenage son, the handsome and shy Norman.”

The series is set to premiere in 2013.

AVENGERS #1 Is High on Potential But Low on Surprises

Writer: Jonathan Hickman

Artist: Jerome Opena

Man, how times change. A couple of years ago an issue like Avengers #1 would have been noteworthy, but comics are so full of reboots/retcons/new 52's/etc that to see a new number 1 doesn't automatically make an issue relevant. Also to be factored in was the Avengers brand itself. Until Avengers Disassembled in 2004 Avengers was always Marvel's B team in terms of relevance and sales compared to their A team books; Spider-man & The X-men. Since then the brand has come a long way -- a certain movie hit 1.5 billion in box office receipts -- and has since become the flagship book at Marvel. Avengers #1 carries itself as such. A good creative team, a promise of a bold direction, and a huge cast of characters from which to draw from. Now we get to see what they do with all that promise.

Issue 1 is as expected; mostly setup but with some action to be had. The story mainly revolves around a new cast of characters referred to as The Garden, and while not much is known about them, so far they are rather interesting, especially the would be god Ex Nihilo. I know some would rather see familiar faces in the antagonist role, but personally I love it when a writer tries to come up with something new rather than do the umpteenth Kang story.

As for the story itself, well, you'll have to read it. I'm not a fan of spoiling for spoiling's sake. Jonathan Hickman starts the book off steady and maintains that throughout the entire issue. Yes, there are action sequences, but his pacing never leaves that setting, and from my perspective that's a good thing. To be successful this book needs that steady hand, and I think Hickman's first issue is good in that regard, even if it doesn't offer too many surprises. The book ends not with a Little John "WHAT!" but rather a quiet "yay." Not bad by any means, just not unexpected or shocking. One thing I didn't love was Hickman's take on Thor and Cap. Might just be first issue warm ups, but I thought they felt a bit off, especially Cap's witty repartee mid battle. Thor's ego resurfaced here as well, and while I understand that someone who has just seen the movie would have no issue with it, his character in the books had seemingly moved past that kind of thing a long time ago, so it seems a bit out of place here.

Enough about that, let's talk some art. Jerome Opena's work is solid, but never rose above that line for me. Take those words with a grain of salt however, because I've just never been the biggest fan of his style. I liked his work on Uncanny X-Force, yet it didn't hit the mark for me on Moon Knight, so he's hit and miss for me. His storytelling was spot on though, and there was rarely a moment where I couldn't figure out what was going on (which is a small victory in itself nowadays).

Overall I was satisfied and left wanting the next issue. Not a stand-out book for me, but good enough to recommend, as I think once Hickman gets a feel for the characters things will start to pick up. We'll see over the next few months if this book's reality ever meets up with its potential.

Len Wiseman's New MUMMY Film Will Be Set in Modern Day

Total Recall director Len Wiseman is currently prepping up to shot his next film, a very different reimagining of Universal Pictures' classic monster film, The Mummy. I wasn't a big fan of the previous Mummy movie reimaginings, but it sounds like Wiseman will be able to bring something cool and special to it. In a recent interview with MovieWeb he offers up some interesting cool new details on what he's planning for the film, and it includes a modern day setting,

There was skepticism. The difference between the two, if The Mummy is to be the next movie for me, is that The Mummy is a completely different film. It is a modern day take. It doesn't have anything to do with the Brendan Fraser films, and it is not a remake of any kind. The Mummy is one of Universal's long standing, iconic characters, well before the Brendan Fraser movies... This is such a different thing. What was attractive to me...There is still a script to be written, and all of that....But the pitch was to go with a much different tone. It was a Mummy like I'd never heard of before. It's nothing like what you would expect, at all, oddly. I was picturing Egypt, and the sand swept settings. The mummy wrappings. When I heard what they were wanting to actually do with it, it was shocking.

He goes on to talk about the tone of the film saying,

It's horror. It's epic. It's more of a modern day version of what would happen if we came across a mummy in our world today. It is pretty fascinating.

It sounds like he's got a good handle on things and a solid idea of what he wants do and see. I love that it's going to be something we've never seen done before with The Mummy, and that the concept behind it is shocking. Wiseman has definitely sparked my interest in this project, and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

The film is being written by screenwriter Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) and Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek) are producing. We can expect the film to hit theaters somtime in 2014.

Here's a really fun, interesting and odd short film called Stanely Pickle directed by Vicky Mather. It was shot entirely on a stills camera, which gives it that crazy looking live action stop-motion feel.

The story follows a character named Stanley who's life runs like clockwork, until a chance encounter with a mysterious girl turns his world upside down.

The short has been submitted to several film festivals and has won 33 awards. I thought this was a great short, I loved the style, and the weirdness. I think some of you will really like it so check it out and let us know what you think!

DJANGO UNCHAINED On Christmas: What Does It Mean?!

$

In moves within the industry I can't help but speculate on, I have to ask...why is Django Unchained being released on Christmas? Don't get me wrong, it's not like this is a particuarly new event, but when a high profile movie I have been following for awhile gets a release date like this I have to wonder. By the way here's a list from Box Office Mojo of the top performing Christmas Day movies to get your wheels turning.

Keep in mind that Quentin Tarantino's last film, Inglourious Basterds (which opened August 21, 2009), brought in over $38 million its openeing weekend...a full $13 Million over Sherlock Holmes which tops the list. Granted Tarantino isn't the reigning champ when it comes to theatrical releases as the Kill Bill series is the only one to come close to the top of that list after that. I guess the point I'm making is that Tarantino has the kind of name to draw people to theaters on his own, so why Christmas?

You have Jack Reacher and This is 40 coming out the 21st...and it's not like the early reviews have been bad or anything...WHY CHRISTMAS?!

Christmas is not even close to the best holiday to release when put up against Thanksgiving, although it seems to give a moderate boost to movies that might not have gotten one otherwise. Let's not forget that we aren't talking about the most holiday friendly movie out there, although that seems to be true to most films on the list.

Perhaps it was some advance movement against The Hobbit...maybe not. This one is really just a head scratcher for me. Is there a reason?! Someone throw me a bone here.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY Was an Incredible Film!

$

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews about Peter Jackson's first installment of his Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, over the last couple of weeks. A lot of them have a pretty negative vibe. People have said that the movie is slow, boring, disappointing, and is full of annoying characters… I guess they didn't see the same movie I saw because I freakin' loved it, and I can't wait to see it again!

I'm a die hard fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth universe, and I've been wait for The Hobbit to be turned into a live action movie for as long as I can remember. The Hobbit was my favorite book growing up, and I couldn't be happier with the direction that Jackson is taking it! The first film was incredible, and I can't wait to see the adventure continue!

One of the biggest gripes about the film that I've heard and read is that it's way too long, and very slow. I full-heartedly disagree with that. When the movie ended I couldn't believe it was already over! The movie is almost three hours long, but the time just flew by. Hell, I wanted it to keep going! But, it had to end, and they ended it at the perfect place in the perfect way.

As for the complaints about the movie being boring… I didn't think it was boring at all! What I saw was completely action packed! I don't understand how people can call this movie boring. There were some awesome battle scenes with dwarves fighting goblins, an awesome giant rock monster fight, some great chase sequences and several other scenes that keep the adrenaline pumping throughout the film. Yeah, the movie starts out a little slow, but the characters have to be established and introduced, but it was done in a very entertaining way. Even when there were no action scenes the movie was still fun and engaging.

I loved the characters in the story, and I didn't find the dwarves confusing or annoying at all. The actors they got to play them were all great in their roles as well, they were a very fun and amusing group of characters, and Jackson did a great job bringing them to life. Richard Armitage as Thorin was exceptionally badass though. Ian McKellen was unsurprisingly amazing, like everyone else who reprised their roles in the story, but it was Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins who stole the show. He was amazing! I can't imagine anyone else playing that character, he was born to play Bilbo, and he played it perfectly.

We've also heard people compare Radagast the Brown to Jar Jar Binks, which is completely ridiculous. First of all, he's not even in the movie that long. Secondly, he's a fun character that plays an important part of the story. I didn't find anything annoying about him.

The special effects in the film were also incredible, but I don't think we would expect anything less from Weta on these Hobbit films. They we're amazing in The Lord of the Rings, and they're even better looking in The Hobbit. My biggest issue with the film was watching it in 48fps. It was just really weird for me. I'm not against it, I just don't think a fantasy film is the right fit for it. It kept pulling me out of the world, and I never felt like I was fully engulfed in the world of Middle Earth. There were some shots that looked beautiful, and the action sequences looked cool in it, but then there was everything in-between that I found more distracting than anything. I'd like to see a slick looking sic-fi film in 48fps, but I don't think it fit the fantasy realm. It didn't feel cinematic to me. But as you can already tell by my thoughts, it didn't hurt how I felt about the movie as a whole.

Just so you know I paid to see this movie with my own money, I didn't get invited to a press screening, so the studio didn't pay me off to write this review. As a fan I genuinely loved this movie, and I can honestly say that it's one of my favorite movies of the year. It's hard for me to understand how some people don't like this movie. I can't wait to see what the next two films have in store for us!

I want to point out is this is not as hardcore or as dark as The Lord of the Rings films were. People that have read the book know this, but it's still an amazing adventure fantasy story with lots of decapitations. Just go see the movie! I know there's going to be a ton mixed feelings about it, but it doesn't change that fact that I thought it was an incredible movie, and it was so cool to go back to Middle Earth again.

What did you think of the movie?!

Cartoon Style Evolution of Tom Hanks' Movie Characters

Tom Hanks is definitely on my list of favorite actors of all time. The guy has made some incredible movies in his career, and I'd like to see him continue to make more of them. Hopefully he'll start taking on more bigger and better roles. I thought he was great in Cloud Atlas, and one of the movies I'm looking forward to seeing most that he's attached to is a big screen adaptation of the 1960's toy Major Matt Mason. Hopefully that goes into production sometime in the near future.

As a tribute to the actor, artist Jeff Victor has drawn this great cartoon evolution of ten characters that Hanks has played over the years. Here's a note from the artist...

Who doesn't love Tom Hanks? The guy is a national treasure. I had the pleasure of working with him once (briefly), and I can honestly tell you, I thought the guy was incredibly nice and cool. So, this is for you Tom. I think you're awesome.

Matt Damon Discusses ELYSIUM and Turning Down AVATAR

$

Matt Damon recently sat down with Playboy for an interview in which he talked a lot about his life and his career. There's a few cool things that he talks about, like turning down James Cameron's Avatar and a couple of other movie roles. He also talks about his extremely cool looking sci-fi film Elysium, which is being developed by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp

When asked about if he sweats movie roles that go to other actors, Damon opens up on what it was like to say no to James Cameron,

Having to say no to Avatar was tough because I particularly wanted to work with James Cameron, and still do, because he’s fantastic. He knew he was the star of that movie and that everyone was going to go see it anyway. When he said, “Look, I’m offering it to you, but if you say no, the movie doesn’t need you,” I remember thinking, Oh God, not only do I have to say no because of scheduling, but he’s going to make a star out of some guy who’s going to start taking jobs from me later.

I actually would have loved to see Damon in Avatar, but Sam Wothington ended up doing a solid job, and it definitely did launch his career. He's then asked about some other movies he missed out on such as Milk and Brokeback Mountain

Milk was another hard one because I was excited it would have been for Gus Van Sant, and I would have had the chance to do scenes with Sean Penn. They pushed the schedule and it ran into the slot for Green Zone. Steven Soderbergh’s mantra is “The movie gets the right person; the right actor gets the part,” but I was like, “Shit, no. That was my part.” But when I saw Milk, Josh Brolin was so fucking good that I knew Soderbergh was right. Way back, Gus and I talked about me doing Brokeback Mountain with Joaquin Phoenix, but I had just done The Talented Mr. Ripley and All the Pretty Horses, so I said, “Gus, let’s do it in a couple of years. I just did a gay movie and a cowboy movie. I can’t do a gay cowboy movie now.” The right actor got the part. Heath Ledger was magnificent.

Later on the interview they start talking about Elysium. We got our first look at the movie earlier this year at Comic-Con, and it looks incredible.

The concept of the movie is that Earth has been ravaged and Elysium is an orbital habitat, 120 kilometers up, where all the rich people have gone.

We shot in that human-waste dump for two weeks. What you see on-screen is supposed to look futuristic, but it was actually just helicopters flying over us, kicking up dust that coats you and that you know is fecal matter. We were very careful, but it was unbelievably toxic. It’s the worst location I’ve ever heard of and could have been worse only if we’d filmed in the world’s largest waste dump, in South Korea. What was unbelievable and really sad was the giant community of people who are born, raised, live and die in that dump. They just pick through the trash.

Damon is then asked what prompts an actor like like him to work in such crazy conditions,

Shooting a big action set piece in a third-world dump was a great idea, visually and dramatically. We did it toward the end of the schedule, and everybody bought in knowing it would be tough but also knowing we would be happy we did it.

When asked if it was worth it he said,

Between the concept and the script, it’s going to be really good. I genuinely believe the director, Neill Blomkamp, is the next guy—our generation’s James Cameron. I hope I can work with him a lot more.

Blomkamp tends to mix sci-fi with social commentary, and Elysium is making a statement about pollution. When this is brought up in the conversation Damon says,

Yeah, future generations will not look kindly on us. Our grandkids and great-grandkids are going to have to live here. With the “greatest generation,” the attitude wasn’t “Well, I’m not going to be around, so fuck the rest of you,” it was “Well, this is our problem, so let’s work on it together.” It’s like we have this weird block when it comes to projecting beyond ourselves, as though we’ve become selfish on some very deep level.

He goes on to talk about how he prepared for his role in the film, which is very physical,

The script wasn’t just run, run, run. It has real characters, so that was great. I worked with an NFL trainer who said, “I’m going to make you stronger and faster. As a by-product, you’ll look the way you want to.” It wasn’t a Hollywood vanity workout.

The full interview is pretty long, but there some good stuff in there if you're a fan of Matt Damon.

The World of TRON will be Completely Redesigned for TRON 3!

Tron 3 has been in the news a lot lately, it was recently announced that Jesse Wigutow would be writing the script and Gerrett Hedlund confirmed he would be reprising his role as Sam Flynn and said that Disney was very excited about doing it. Now, Collider caught up with the director Joseph Kosinski recently, and he offers up some more great info on the film! He talks about their plans on making an epic sequel, the time line of the film, and even revealed that he plans on redesigning the whole world of Tron again! Check it out!

Well the only reason to go back, for me and I think for anyone involved would be if we could do something truly spectacular. We’ve been talking about it for a couple years and there’s always been this idea, a big idea, in the back of my head that we’ve been talking about. The idea itself, the notion of what the next Tron could be, is exciting enough that it would be worth going back to do it. Obviously we hinted some things at the end of Legacy, it’s kind of there for people to see what that potential is. So we just want to make sure that we have a script that delivers on that promise on an epic scale.

I’ve said it would have to be our Empire Strikes Back for me to come back and for me to pull the whole team back together. I think we do have that idea. We do have the idea that feels big and really blows the doors off this franchise. It’s hinted at promises of something for two movies now, for thirty years, so it’s time to deliver on that. But the script’s got to be at a level that makes it worth going back for, because it’s a lot of work to make a movie like this and it’s a multi-year project. So we’ve got our writer Jesse Wigutow on it right now writing, and fingers crossed if it all comes together, as we hope it will, there could be another Tron in the next few years, and it’s going to be awesome.

Well that enough to get me excited for another film! He's sounds very excited and very confident that they can deliver an epic sequel. The director goes on to talk about the timeline of the film explaining,

I think time has passed. It feels like we’re kind of real-time in step. So however much time has passed since Legacy came out would also have transpired in the real world. So it will still be contemporary. So let’s say if the Tron sequel comes out in 2015, then four or five years have passed since the last movie.

One of the things I liked most about Tron: Legacy was the design of the world of Tron. It was incredibly slick and cool, but Kosinski has got somthing else up his sleeve for Tron 3, in fact he wants to completely design that world!

I don’t want to say too much about it but the goal would not be to simply re-use. We’re not going to re-use the assets from Legacy, that’s no fun. If we’re going to do to it, we’re going to reinvent all over again and it’s going to be a whole new generation for reasons that are very story-driven. That’s all I can say.

I thought they might do a few little tweeks to the design, but redesigning the whole world of Tron again is awesomely unexpected! I'm already excited to see what it's going to look like! When the director was asked if this would be his next film project he said,

There is certainly a chance, like I said; we’re writing the script now. Sometimes with these things all the pieces fall into place. I mean, we’ve been talking about this for years and we don’t have the script now, but sometimes things fall into place very quickly, and if everything lines up it could happen. That’s all I can say, it’s too early.

And for those of you wondering if Daft Punk will score the sequel Kosinski says that they will be his first call. He just isn't sure if they'd come back and do it or not. I don't see why they wouldn't, they did such a great job scoring Tron: Legacy.

I just really hope he ends up doing this sequel next as his next film project, I don't want to have to wait for it longer than I have to. There's no doubt in my mind that whatever they have in store for Tron 3 is wickedly badass! I can't wait to see what the new designs look like!
