Robert Englund Reveals His Favorite Freddy Krueger Kill From the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Franchise

$

I think it's safe to say that A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger has had some of the most entertaining and amusing kills in any of the slasher movies. The creative team behind the franchise were always trying to get creative and come up with crazy new ways for Freddy to kill people in their dreams.

Fans of the franchise all have their favorite kills from the long-running franchise, but what about the actor who played Freddy for all those years? This past weekend, Robert Englund appeared at Monsterpalooza and took part in a Nightmare On Elm Street Q&A panel. It was there he revealed that his all-time favorite Freddy kill was the "Hearing Aid" death from 1991's Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare.

In the scene which you can watch below, Freddy appears in the form of Carlos's mother, who slaps him before turning into Freddy and inserting a super-sized cotton swab through his ear. Freddy takes Carlos's ear drum and his hearing aid. Freddy plays on Carlos's inability to hear by running behind him, dancing and shouting. Freddy returns his hearing aid, except the hearing aid now acts a parasite which latches itself onto Carlos's ear. The amplification of the hearing aid has been turned up, making even the quietest sounds 10 times louder. Freddy kills him by scratching a chalkboard until his head explodes.

Englund goes on to explain why this was his favorite scene saying that Freddy is an equal opportunity serial killer:

"It’s such a Cronenberg head explosion. The guys loved doing that. But yeah, what I love is that it’s a real politically incorrect sequence, ya know. And I hate the fact… I know many, I don’t even know what the politically correct term is anymore… I don’t think it’s disabled anymore – special needs actors. Gosh, I work with actors that are in wheelchairs or have problems with their sight, and they don’t just want to play goody goody people all the time. They don’t just have to be the good guy. Or the nice guy. Or the saint. Or the martyr. They want to be bad guys and villains as well. And I love the political incorrectness of that. Freddy’s an equal opportunity serial killer. He doesn’t care if you’ve got a hearing aid. He’ll get ya. That’s my favorite Freddy kill. Because of all the ramifications for it."

I also include a video of the panel that Englund took part in at Monsterpalooza. What's your favorite Freddy kill?

Christopher Lloyd and William Shatner Will Play Best Friends in The Comedy SENIOR MOMENT

Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd will be teaming up with William Shatner in a new comedy film called Senior Moment. Lloyd and Shatner in the same movie together.. again!? As many of you already know, the two actors previously starred together in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. I never really thought I'd see them together in a film again, but this is a comedic team-up we never knew we wanted until now!

In the film, Shatner plays "a retired Top Gun Navy pilot who used to test aircraft for NASA. After speeding around town in his vintage convertible hot rod with his best friend (played by Lloyd) in tow, he gets caught in a major crackdown to get dangerous senior drivers off the road, resulting in his car being impounded and his license revoked."

The thought of watching these two guys getting into ridiculous hijinks with each other makes me chuckle and I can't wait to see how this story plays out.

The film is being directed by Giorgio Serafini from a screenplay by Kurt Brungardt and Christopher Momenee. Senior Moment begins shooting this spring in Palm Springs, CA.

Jeff Bezos Won't Let You Poop In His Spacecraft When It Launches

Amazon founder and mega-rich entrepreneur Jeff Bezos thinks his ship New Shepard will be carrying tourists into Space by 2018...provided they don't poop in his spacecraft. The news, first reported by Gizmodo, sounds alarming at first, but it's not as bad as you think.  In fact, the first trips to Space will only be about 40 minutes from take off to return, so if you can make a commute to and from work without pooping your pants you should be fine.

When asked about the accidents in which someone could poop or pee their pants out of fear, Bezos recommended diapers for the short trip. I'd like to think I could keep from pooping my pants as I see myself leave the Earth's atmosphere, but I'd probably pack some Depends just in case. Honestly, it would be cool to say you were one of the first people to take a dump in space don't you think?

An intense first trailer has been released for Sean Bean's upcoming new film Drone. Bean plays a CIA drone pilot who has been tracked down by a victim of one of his attacks and is seeking vengeance for the death of his wife and child. It looks like an intense film and it's great to see Bean in strong movie role like this.

Neil (Sean Bean) is a private drone contractor who spends his workdays flying covert missions then returns to a family life of suburban mediocrity - without his wife or son knowing about his secret life - until a whistle-blowing site exposes him to a deadly threat. Believing he is responsible for the deaths of his wife and child, an enigmatic Pakistani businessman (Patrick Sabongui) tracks him down, leading to a harrowing confrontation.

Drone was directed by Jason Bourque (Black Fly) and it hits US theaters on May 26th.

JACK REACHER Could Have Starred Dwayne Johnson

Here's one of those "what if" scenarios that movie fans always like to talk about and debate. When a fan on Twitter lamented the fact that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wasn't playing the role of Jack Reacher in Paramount's film franchise, Johnson responded and said he actually tried to play the part a decade ago:

In Lee Child's books, Reacher is a hulking six feet, five inches tall. Sound about right for Johnson, eh? Tom Cruise is...not that tall. One of the biggest complaints I've seen about Cruise's casting is that he doesn't align with the book version of the character in the slightest, and it sounds like Johnson would have been a better physical match. Although, this was ten years ago, and at that point Johnson wasn't quite the "franchise Viagra" that he's known as today. I can see why the filmmakers chose to go with a true movie star like Cruise. But it's another one of those missed opportunities that fans will always wonder about: what would the Jack Reacher movies have been like if The Rock played the lead?

Dolph Lundgren Takes on a Villainous Role in James Wan's AQUAMAN!

Well, director James Wan's Aquaman just got a helluva lot more interesting! Legendary action star Dolph Lundgren has been cast alongside Jason Mamoa in the film!

dolph-lundgren-joins-james-wans-aquaman1

According to THR, Lundgren will take on the role of King Nereus of the aquatic kingdom of Xebel, "who claims Mera as his own and wants to kill Aquaman." I never expected to see Lundgren pop up in any of these modern day superhero films that are being made these days, but it looks like Wan found the perfect role for him and it gonna be a lot of fun to see him in this role!

As an Atlantean from Xebel, Nereus is a skilled warrior and has a number of superhuman powers that follow that include super strength, durability, Hydrokinesis, which is the ability to control water.

Lundgren will also join Amber Heard as Mera, Aquaman's royal love interest; Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother; Willem Dafoe as Aquaman's advisor, scientist Dr. Vulko; Patrick Wilson as Orm, Aquaman’s villainous half-brother; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta; and Temuera Morrison is playing Aquaman’s father.

Lundgren has made a ton of films in his career but two of my favorite are Rocky IV and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. He also played Frank Castle in 1989's The Punisher.

New KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE Photos Give Us a First Look at Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry

new-kingsman-the-golden-circle-photos-give-us-a-first-look-at-channing-tatum-jeff-bridges-and-halle-berry

Today we get our first look at Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and Jeff Bridges, who are part of the Statesmen, in director Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The Statesmen are the American spy organization in this story and The Kingsman have to team up with them after their headquarters are destroyed. The photos also include Taron Egerton and Mark Strong reprising their roles.

I actually got to see the first footage from the film at CinemaCon recently and it was amazingly glorious! These photos can't capture the awesomeness and hilarity of these new characters, but Tatum and Bridges are going to steal the show. Oh! And I know how Colin Firth makes his triumphant return, but I won't spoil it for you! When talking about the sequel with EW, Vaughn and the report said:

"'Just doing a sequel, you’re kind of violating that promise of originality,' he says. 'Sequelitis is a plague I have no interest in contracting.' So in brainstorming this second installment of a planned trilogy, Vaughn let his imagination fly like a rogue missile. Brand new, beyond-Bond gadgets include a mechanical attack dog and an electric cowboy-style lasso that slices through bad guys."

From what I've seen, this movie looks like it's going to be better than the first one. Here's the synopsis:

Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman - an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents' strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that's becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy...

The movie also stars Game of ThronesPedro Pascal appearing as a member of the Statesman; Julianne Moore also costars as "a Martha Stewart-ish global entrepreneur named Poppy"; and Elton John pops up as a “Vaughn-ized” version of himself.

Benedict Cumberbatch to Star in THE MAN IN THE ROCKEFELLER SUIT

Everyone loves con men. Right? That's what film and tv have taught me. Some criminals are bad but con men? Con men are just misunderstood. Like the Music Man. What a guy! Well, Benedict Cumberbatch is about to join the ranks of likable con men in the new film by Fox Searchlight, The Man in the Rockefeller Suit.

The film is about the true story of Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter. He was a man who posed as a member of the famous Rockefeller family to get various jobs on Wall Street and even to get married. He used his fake identity to get close to the richest and most powerful people on earth until he finally gets caught and then fears losing custody of his daughter. I mean, if your name was Gerhartsreiter, wouldn't you want to pretend to be someone else to?

Cumberbatch, of course, is wonderful so I have no doubt he'll do great in the role. The film has yet to find a director but is being adapted into a screenplay by David Bar Katz from the book by Mark Seal. Here's the description from the book:

This shocking expose goes behind the headlines to uncover the true story of Clark Rockefeller, wealthy scion of a great American family, who kidnapped his own daughter and vanished. The police and FBI were baffled. Tips poured in, but every lead was a dead end … because “Clark Rockefeller” did not exist. In a gripping work of investigative journalism, Mark Seal reveals how German native Christian Gerhartsreiter came to the United States, where he stepped in and out of identities for decades, eventually posing as a Rockefeller for twelve years, married to a wealthy woman who had no idea who he really was. Fast-paced, hypnotic, and now updated with more stunning details, The Man in the Rockefeller Suit chillingly reveals the audacity and cunning of a shape-shifting con man.

STAR WARS: FORCES OF DESTINY Animated Shorts Will Focus on The Female Heroes of the Star Wars Universe

star-wars-forces-of-destiny-animated-shorts-will-focus-on-the-female-heroes-of-the-star-wars-universe1

Lucasfilm has announced a great new Star Wars project they have been developing called Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, which targeted to young girls. The whole thing focuses on the female characters of the Star Wars universe and as a father of three daughters, I'm really excited about this because they love the women heroes of Star Wars! At the end of this article you'll find a first look video and some images of what is to come.

Forces of Destiny will launch with eight new 2-D animated shorts that will debut on Disney YouTube in July, then there are plans to release eight more in the fall for a pair of TV specials airing on the Disney Channel. EW Reveals some additional details saying:

While they’ll be full of familiar characters and creatures, the central figures are Princess Leia from the original trilogy era, Padmé Amidala from the prequels, Rey from The Force AwakensRogue One’s Jyn Erso, and a trio from the animated Rebels series: the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren, Force-sensitive Jedi badass Ahsoka Tano, and the avocado-hued Twi’lek pilot Hera Syndulla.
In some cases, multiple heroines will appear in adventures with each other, even though some of them have been separated by different timelines – but it’s all official canon. “One of the opportunities here was to tell the stories in between the larger moments and imagine some of the ways our characters have crossed,” says Carrie Beck, an executive producer of the shorts and a member of the Lucasfilm story group braintrust. “It’s all part of the larger swath of storytelling.”

Each of the shorts will be about three minutes long and they were written by Jennifer Muro (Justice League Action). Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels) directed the shorts and Dave Filoni, executive producer of Rebels, helped create the storylines.

The other cool thing about these series is that Daisy Ridley will provide the voice of Rey and Felicity Jones will come back to reprise her role of Jyn Erso. On top of that, "Tiya Sircar will voice heroic bounty hunter Sabine Wren, Ashley Eckstein will return as Ahsoka Tano, a character she has been playing since the earlier Clone Wars animated series, and Vanessa Marshall will bring her flygirl swagger from the show to Hera Syndulla." Oh yeah! Lupita Nyong’o will also be back to narrate the shorts as Maz Kanata.

The report goes on to offer a brief rundown of some of the stories that will be told in these shorts which you can check out below:

One Forces of Destiny story involves Rey battling the thieving Jakku scavenger Teedo to protect BB-8 while on their way to Niima Outpost for their fateful encounter with Finn. Another involves a battle with the nightwatcher worm, a creature with glowing eyes who was seen only briefly in The Force Awakens, lifting its head out of the sand. “He eats junk on Jakku and has an appetite for BB-8,” Beck says.
Another short takes place aboard the Millennium Falcon with Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Finn as Rey tries to disarm an explosive tracking device hidden aboard the craft by Unkar Plutt. “What we love about Rey is her mechanical skills, and she knows this ship as well as our other heroes,” Beck says.
A Princess Leia short set just before the battle of Hoth was literally inspired by a deleted scene from The Empire Strikes Back, in which she, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca face down a ferocious Wampa who’s trapped inside the Rebel ice base. “Leia saves the day and rescues Chewie, so we get to see her leadership in play,” Beck says.
Rebels will blend with the movies in Forces of Destiny as Sabine and disgruntled droid Chopper inhabit the Yavin 4 Rebel base featured in Rogue One and the original 1977 Star Wars. One of her stories involves Ketsu Onyo, an old bounty hunter friend. “She’s not yet convinced the Rebel life is for her,” Beck says. She has a change of heart when they make a discovery while on a mission to steal cargo and food to keep the Alliance supplied.
Perhaps most intriguing to movie fans will be the story set on the Ewok moon of Endor from Return of the Jedi. Although plot details are under wraps, Hera Syndulla from Rebels and Princess Leia team up for an adventure with Han Solo – and lots of little furballs carrying primitive weapons.

There will also be a line of action figures from Hasbro to accompany the Forces of Destiny animated shorts. The are being called "Adventure Figures" and I've includes some photos of them below. They are said to be inspired by classic old-school action figure and they even have action moves. For example, Rey can swing her lightsaber.

I really like what Lucasfilm is doing with this and I'm sure it's going to be the Star Wars gateway drug to a lot of little girls out there.

Get A Look At Frank Castle's Iconic Skull Gear In New PUNISHER Set Photos

Jon Bernthal is looking like the classic Frank Castle in these latest pics from the set of The Punisher! Looks like Frank is a little battered as well, which is no surprise considering his character. I like that the costume pays respects to the original costume while still looking a little modernized. I'm not seeing a trenchcoat, and if I'm being honest, I would be fine if we don't see it. What's your take on The Punisher's look? Let us know below and thank our friends at io9 for the heads up!

The Dark Knight Takes Flight in This Cool BATMAN BEYOND Print

NYC's Bottleneck Gallery has debuted a cool new Batman Beyond-inspired print from artist Mark Chilcott. It's a giclée that's 13 x 19 inches, and each of the hand-numbered entries (there are only 75) costs $35. They go on sale today (Thursday, April 13, 2017) at 12pm EST at the official website, so head there to try to snag one before they sell out.

Batman Beyond is one of the best futurized takes on a classic comic book superhero. Taking all of the most crucial elements of the Batman mythos, cleverly updating and reconfiguring them, and introducing a younger, more free-spirited Batman in the form of Terry McGinnis, Batman Beyond was a great addition to the Batman cartoon canon. Mark’s piece shows off just how badass the batsuit design from Batman Beyond was!

I still can't over the fact that Terry McGinnis was voiced by Will Friedle, the guy who played Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World.

Star Wars Celebration is currently underway in Orlando Fl. and during the 40th Anniversary panel, a wonderfully touching tribute video for Carrie Fisher was screened. It shows some rare behind-the-scenes footage of the actress on the set of the Star Wars films looking as charming as ever. The footage featured includes stuff from her audition for for the role of Princess Leia, to A New Hope, all the way through Star Wars: The Last Jedi! Yes, the footage also gives us our first look at Carrie Fisher from the set of the upcoming film. The video also include interviews from a ton of the people that have worked with her on the Star Wars films over the years. I won't lie, this tribute video got me all choked up.

The Remake of LABYRINTH Will Be Directed By EVIL DEAD Helmer Fede Alvarez

Last year is was announced that Jim Henson's classic 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth would be getting remade. That remake is moving forward with director Fede Alvarez, who previously brought us the hardcore horror films Don't Breathe and the Evil Dead remake.

I've actually enjoyed the films that Alvarez has made. If you've seen his previous films, then you know that he's not afraid to do crazy and shocking things. He's also set to co-write the film with Jay Basu, who is currently writing The Girl in the Spider's Web, which is the Girl With a Dragon Tattoo sequel that Alvarez is also set to direct.

According to Variety, the Labyrinth remake won't go into development until after the director is completed with The Girl in the Spider's Web. The film is a co-production between TriStar Pictures and The Jim Henson Co. and Lisa Henson is set to produce.

It makes me happy that at least The Jim Henson Co. is involved. As much as I don't want to see this film get remade, I'm looking on the bright side, and I'm excited that we will get to see some new effects and puppet work from The Jim Henson Co. I miss seeing their work! We don't see enough of it these days.

The original film followed a 16-year old girl who is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother from the Goblin King after she wishes for him to be taken away. The Goblin King was wonderfully played by the late David Bowie.

What do you all think about Alvarez taking on the Labyrinth remake? I think the guy has a very bold visual style and I hope that whatever he does will honor the original film.
