Intricately Designed Poster Celebrates the One-Year Anniversary of HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE

Taika Waititi's coming-of-age film Hunt for the Wilderpeople was one of the nicest surprises of last year, and a new poster is coming out this week that celebrates the one-year anniversary of the New Zealand-set comedy.

/Film pointed us to these limited edition prints from artist George Bletsis, one of which is in color and the other is black and white so you can color it in yourself. The artist had this to say:

“Hunt for the Wilderpeople is such a wonderful movie, and with this poster I wanted to make something that really captured the fun atmosphere, so I went with a playful style that messes with scale/perspective in order to pack as much energy in as I could. I used a colour palette that has a bit of a retro feel to it. The film reminded me of days spent playing in the woods as a kid, so l wanted to push that nostalgic feel. I also riffed on the colours used in the European comics I used to read when I was young. I thought something reminiscent of that era would not only suit the drawing style, but would further evoke the feel of a good old fashioned adventure!”

The site also broke down the sizing and pricing options that will be available when the poster goes on sale:

The regular version measures 24×36 and it will have an edition of 300 that will cost you £40.00 (roughly $49.50). Meanwhile the black and white open edition version only measures 18×24 and costs £15 (roughly $18). Both of them go on sale on Friday, March 31 at 3pm United Kingdom time (which is 10am Eastern Time).

You can snag one right here. Take a closer look at the detail in this print; it's almost like a "Where's Waldo" type of vibe where you can look around and try to find some of the film's best moments.

Pack It Up, Everyone: Somebody Created Recreated Vin Diesel's Face in a Ham and Cheese Sandwich

I've seen some bizarre things on the internet (haven't we all?), but something new has catapulted into the upper echelon of random weirdness. YouTuber William Osman used a laser cutter to create a scarily accurate bust of Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel made out of ham and cheese, and when he was finished, this madman turned his creation into a sandwich.

We're all going to have to deal with this in our own way. For me, I'm pretty sure the only way I'll be able to purge this will be to actually eat a ham and cheese sandwich of my own. Good luck getting this image out of your head, though. Godspeed to you all.

Watch: Comparison of the Shower Scenes in PSYCHO and BATES MOTEL

Major spoilers for Bates Motel coming up, so turn back now if you don't want to know what happens.

Bates Motel has been a prequel leading up to the infamous shower scene as depicted in Alfred Hitchcock's classic film Psycho for years now, and the show finally caught up to that moment in the timeline. But things didn't play out entirely as fans expected: Marion Crane, the character who dies in the shower in the original movie, actually survived this time because young Norman Bates decided to murder Marion's lover, Sam Loomis, instead.

Uproxx points us to this cool side-by-side video comparing the shower scenes in the film and TV show. Check it out:

If you haven't watched the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet yet, you've gotta check it out because it's a super entertaining comedic gore fest! I love the concept of the series and the storytelling and writing for it are fantastically executed. It's also very fun and clever and isn't afraid to be bold and try new, crazy, and different things.

I'm happy to report that Netflix has released a fun little promo announcing that they will be developing Season 2. The promo asks if we're ready for seconds, and I've gotta say... yes I am!

In the series, Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant play Sheila and Joel, a married couple, who are real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California. Things take a dark turn for them when Sheila goes through a “dramatic change” and becomes a flesh-eating zombie. It's explained that "while they tend to their open houses and teenage daughter, the couple must sate Sheila’s unbridled id and undead hunger, first with raw meat and, eventually, the human kind."

Season 2 is set to premiere in 2018.

THE MUMMY - Footage Reaction Video - CinemaCon 2017

During the Universal Pictures presentation at CinemaCon we got to see some more new footage from Tom Cruise's The Mummy. I wasn't impressed, but Drew was. You can watch us debate it in our reaction video above.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

The movie was directed by Alex Kurtzman and also stars Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson), and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

The Mummy will be released on June 9th, 2017, and it will be followed by modern day reboots of The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and Van Helsing, which are all in various stages of development.

Channing Tatum Is Developing a Film Adaptation of ZOMBIE BROTHER With the Director of KUNG FURY

Tencent, a new powerhouse in media in China has recently decided to turn one of their popular comics, Zombie Brother, into a live action movie.

Zombie Brother is a Chinese comic about a young boy in H city when a virus breaks out and now he is trying to escape the city with his girlfriend. I'm not quite sure where the brother part comes in, but I'm sure it will come up eventually. The comic was one of TenCent's most popular digital comics and has already become an animated series and a stage play. Tencent wants to bring it to the international market, and Channing Tatum is happy to help them produce it.

Matt Lieberman is attached to write the film, and David Sandberg is set to direct. Some may recognize Sandberg's name because he was the mastermind behind the internet film sensation Kung Fury

With a crew like that, I can say that this actually interests me quite a bit. Tatum has been attached before to projects which haven't gone anywhere fast, cough cough, Gambit, cough, but this could be something quite interesting, and to be fair to Gambit, it still is in the works. I loved Kung Fury and think that Sandberg could make a zombie film incredibly exciting and fun.

Zombie Brother has been very successful in China, and if it lives up to the hype in American markets, it could be the start of a new franchise that has the world in a flurry.

GET OUT Director Jordan Peele in Talks to Direct AKIRA

Jordan Peele made a huge splash with his feature film directing debut with the horror film Get Out. If you've seen the movie you know how great it is. The movie is one of my favorites of the year so far, and it shows that Peele is an incredibly talented filmmaker.

Well, Warner Bros. sees that talent and, according to The Tracking Board, the studio is "moving aggressively to lock in Jordan Peele" to direct their live-action version of Akira! How freakin' cool is that!? I loved Peele's work on Get Out, and I'm really curious to see what he'd do with a film like Akira

Warner Bros. has been on the hunt for a new director for the film, which has been in development for years. Daniel Espinosa, who recently directed that fantastic sci-fi film Life, and David Sandberd, who is the director of the fun horror movie Lights Out, were both recently rumored to be up for the gig as well. But according to the report, the discussions with Peele seem to be very encouraging.

I'd actually really like to see Peele get the job. I don't think he would take the gig if he didn't feel confident enough to give fans something incredible. When it comes to Akira, I think Peele has an understanding of what's a stake and what he's up against when it comes to the longtime fans of Katsuhiro Otomo’s classic manga/anime.

The deal isn't done yet, though, so at this point anything can happen. One thing that insiders are saying is that after Get Out, Peele feels he's "ready to make the big-budget leap now," and Akira would certainly be quite a leap for him.

What do you all think about the possibility of Peele directing Akira? Is he a director you could get behind and support?

Teaser Poster and First Synopsis Released for KINGSMAN: GOLDEN CIRCLE

teaser-poster-and-first-synopsis-released-for-kingsman-golden-circle1

A new poster has been released for Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Golden Circle that teases the return of Colin Firth, who, as you all know, died in the first film. What's interesting is that the actor also gets top billing on the poster, which leads me to believe Harry Hart might have bigger role in the film than initially thought. I have no idea how they are going to handle his return, but we'll find out soon enough.

20th Century Fox also released the first official plot synopsis for the film, which reads:

Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman - an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents' strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that's becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy...

I love the first film and I'm sure this sequel is going to end up being just as insane and entertaining as the first one. I can't wait until we get to see our first footage from the film!

The film has an impressive cast that also includes Taron Egerton as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin, Julianne Moore as Poppy, Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal as Jack Daniels, Mark Strong as Merlin, Halley Berry as Ginger, Vinnie Jones, and Sophie Cookson as Roxy.

Cool New Trailer for the Heroic Magician Film SLEIGHT

It's no surprise that I am very excited for the public release of the film Sleight. I have been since it was shown at Sundance last year. You can read my review here. If you don't want to take the time to click that and read the review, then I'll give you the CliffsNotes.

A young street magician who works for a drug dealer uses the abilities he's gained as a magician to break free from the dealer's grip. It is great. The characters are relatable and down to earth and the stakes are high while not being end of the world high. It's also personal, which gives it a stronger depth than many of the big blockbuster superhero films we're used to seeing.

The new trailer shows off some decent acting and gives a good feel for the tone of the film. I'm also quoted in it, which feels super cool. The film comes out April 28th. Definitely check it out. It is going to be a dark horse in the sci-fi film race this summer.

When Bo (Jacob Latimore), a handsome and gifted high school student, suddenly becomes the sole caretaker for his little sister, Tina, he foregoes college to dedicate his talents to the craft of magic. He wows audiences as a street magician but still has to make ends meet, so he cleverly uses his skills to peddle drugs for the local dealer, Angelo. However when Bo falls for Holly, an adorable teenager in need of support, he decides to get out of the drug business, causing Angelo to threaten his family. Bo must now rely on his sleight of hand and brilliant mind to save the day.

The Nerdwriter is here with a new video essay that praises actor Jack Nicholson for his ability to convey multiple types of anger on screen. I've obviously noticed Nicholson's explosions of emotion in his films, but I've never really considered his exploration of anger throughout his entire career, and this video does a good job of putting it all in context.

Intense First Trailer for the Fantastic-Looking Thriller THE BOOK OF HENRY1

This first trailer has arrived for The Book of Henry, which comes from Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow. The story follows two adventurous brothers who discover that the family next door is hiding a terrible secret. As you'll see from the trailer, it seems like Trevorrow was heavily inspired by the classic films of Steven Spielberg. I absolutely love the tone of this movie and it looks fantastic!

Sometimes things are not always what they seem, especially in the small suburban town where the Carpenter family lives. Single suburban mother Susan (Naomi Watts) works as a waitress at a diner, alongside feisty friend Sheila (Sarah Silverman). Her younger son Peter (Jacob Tremblay) is a playful 8-year-old. Taking care of everyone and everything is Susan’s older son Henry (Jaeden Lieberher), age 11. Protector to his adoring younger brother and tireless supporter of his often self-doubting mother – and, through investments, of the family – Henry blazes through the days like a comet. Susan discovers that the family next door, which includes Henry’s kind classmate Christina (Maddie Ziegler), has a dangerous secret – and that Henry has devised a surprising plan to help. As his brainstormed rescue plan for Christina takes shape in thrilling ways, Susan finds herself at the center of it.

The Book of Henry hits theaters on June 16th, and I can't wait to see it! Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!

Batgirl is getting her very own solo film at Warner Bros. and Avengers director Joss Whedon is going to write, direct, and produce the film! How freakin' awesome is that!

There are no details on the project right now, but there's no doubt that fans are going to flip out over the fact that Whedon is going to be developing the movie. He's the perfect director to take it on, and I can't wait to see what he does with the character!

According to Variety, the film will also include other characters from the city of Gotham, we just don't know who exactly those characters will be yet. I'm so excited about this!

As soon as more detail become available will let you know! In the meantime, tell us what you think about Whedon directing Batgirl!

Brad Pitt is Ready for Battle in the New Trailer for Netflix's WAR MACHINE

Netflix has released a full trailer for their great-looking new film War Machine. The film stars Brad Pitt, who seems to give an awesome performance as the successful and charismatic four-star general Stanley McChrystal, "who leapt in like a rock star to command NATO forces in Afghanistan, only to be taken down by a journalist’s no-holds-barred exposé." This definitely looks like one Pitt's most interesting movie roles yet.

The Netflix original film is based on the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan, which was written by the late journalist Michael Hastings. Here's a synopsis that was released with the trailer:

A pitch-black war story for our times, writer-director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) recreates a U.S. General’s roller-coaster rise and fall as part reality, part savage parody – raising the specter of just where the line between them lies today. His is an absurdist look at a born leader’s ultra-confident march right into the dark heart of folly. At the story’s core is Brad Pitt’s sly take on one of the most polarizing war figures of a generation.

War Machine also has an impressive supporting cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Sir Ben Kingsley, Anthony Michael Hall, Topher Grace, Will Poulter, Lakeith Stanfield, Emory Cohen, John Magaro, RJ Cyler, Alan Ruck, Scoot McNairy, and Meg Tilly.

War Machine will hit Netflix on May 26th.
