PACIFIC RIM - Blueprint for the Crimson Typhoon Jaeger

0
0

Another blueprint for one of Guillermo del Toro's giant fighting robots in Pacific Rim has found it's way on the web. This one gives us a look at Japan's awesome Jaeger called the Crimson Typoon. I freakin' love these designs, and it's going to be amazing seeing what the finished product looks like on the big screen! I wonder if we will see one of these for ever major country, because that would be cool.

In the film, legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, start rising from the sea and begin a war that would takes millions of lives and consumes humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day. It will be released 2D and 3D on July 12th, 2013. The first trailer for the movie will be released next month so stay tuned for that epic greatness!

IRON MAN 3 - 4 High Resolution Photos - First Look at Rebecca Hall

0
0

Marvel has released some high resolution images from Iron Man 3. We've seen magazine scans of a couple of these already, but the one featuring Rebecca Hall is new to me. She plays Dr. Maya Hansen, who is responsible for the "Extremis" nanotechnology used by Tony Stark. Even though she's a little roughed up, she still looks good.

The other images just give us a clearer look at the Iron Patriot, Stark, and one of his destroyed  Iron Man masks. The movie comes out on May 3rd, 2013. You can read about Iron Man 3 not being as serious as it looks here, and some new details Kevin Feige gave about about the film here. Check out the photos!

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

THIS IS 40 Film Clip - "They Look Like Pedophiles"

Here's a fun clip from Judd Apatow's new comedy This is 40. It features Paul Rudd talking to a friend about how hot the girl is that works for Rudd. Of course their wives just think they look like pedophiles while they stand there staring at her.

The movie is basically a sequel to Knocked Up, this time it follows the lives of the two characters Pete (Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) a few years after the events of Knocked Up. It give us a glimpse of what married life is like at 40. The movie also stars  Jason Segel and Melissa McCarthy with Albert Brooks playing Rudd's dad.

The film hits theaters on December 21st. I like the films Apatow has made, and Rudd is just an awesome dude. I'm looking forward to watching this one.

Details Revealed For The CW's New WONDER WOMAN Series

0
0

A couple of months ago is was announced that The CW would be developing a Wonder Woman series. This is something that David E. Kelly tried to do for NBC, but they ended up passing on the series. When the new project was first announced we heard that it would be an origin story and that it was being developed under the title Amazon.

It was previously said that the series "will focus on Wonder Woman as a young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty. (Think Smallville, but instead of a 'no tights, no flights' rule, this show might have a 'no bracelets, no crown' mandate.)" Thanks to Deadline we have a little bit more information on the series from a character description being used in the casting process.

They are looking for a tall actress to take on the lead role and only looking to audition actresses 5'8" or taller. It was also revealed that her name will be Iris, not Diana. Here's the description...

She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs. And she’s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what’s on her mind at all times. She’s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you’re lying to her. And she doesn’t have time or patience for politics or tact because she’s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for. Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.

The script for the series is still being written by Allan Heinberg (Grey's AnatomyThe O.C. and the Young Avengers Comic Book), but it sounds like it could be a really good series. I love what they did with Superman in Smallville and Green Arrow in Arrow, and I imagine they will be able to build a great series around Wonder Woman. I'm looking forward to seeing how this new superhero show turns out!

How LOOPER Should Have Ended

The gang over at How It Should Have Ended give us their hilarious take on how Rian Johnson's badass sci-fi movie Looper should have ended. These guys can take any movie, both good and bad, and point out the most obvious stuff that a lot of people don't see. I didn't want Joe to die at the end of the film, I don't think he had to die, but he did give the ultimate sacrifice. How would you have ended the film?

Sundance Film Festival 2013 - Park City at Midnight Movie Line-Up

0
0

One of my favorite parts of the Sundance Film Festival is the Park City at Midnight movie line-up. This is where they put on a lot of the horror, sci-fi, comedy and other genre type films. They've also announced the movies that will be a part of the Spotlight and New Frontier sections.

Once again it looks like we've got a lot of solid films to look forward to. Of course there's going to be a few duds in the mix, but for the most part this looks like it's going to be an exciting year at Sundance. I can't wait to watch these movies!

Look over the list, read about the films, and let us know which movies sound interesting to you that you'd like to more know about!

Sundance Institute announced today the films selected to screen in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival out-of-competition sections Spotlight, Park City at Midnight and New Frontier, as well as the installations and performances to be featured in the Festival’s New Frontier venue. The Festival takes place January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

Trevor Groth, Director of Programming for the Sundance Film Festival, said, “I couldn’t be more pleased to announce the films selected for these sections because they illustrate the tremendous creativity and vibrancy of the independent film community. Spotlight features our favorite films that have premiered at other festivals and the Park City at Midnight and New Frontier sections are comprised of films that are bound to shock, intoxicate, derange or dazzle. Expect the unexpected when you venture down the path of these cinematic sensations.”

The 2013 edition of New Frontier will showcase films, media installations, multimedia performances, transmedia experiences and panel discussions that explore the convergence of film, art, new media technology and storytelling. 2013 will mark the seventh year of New Frontier, which will again take place at The Yard (1251 Kearns Blvd.) in Park City. Admission to the venue is free.

Shari Frilot, Sundance Film Festival Senior Programmer and curator of the exhibition, said, “The 2013 edition of New Frontier is an exhibition of works that immerse audiences within moving image environments, including full-dome and wrap-around films, augmented reality experiences, 3D projection mapped environments, and data-moshed hip hop performances. The work by this year’s artists disorient time and space, and provoke a reconsideration of how we might cohere the fibers of our bodies with the realities of life on the digital frontier.”

In addition to those announced today, films in the U.S. and World Competition and NEXT <=> sections have been announced. Films for the Premieres and Documentary Premieres sections have not yet been announced. For a full list of films announced to date visit www.sundance.org/festival.

INSTALLATIONS

Cityscape 2095

Artists: Yannick Jacquet, Mandril, Thomas Vaquié [AntiVJ]

AntiVJ artists Yannick Jacquet and Marc Ferrario blend painting with light projection to transform the walls of New Frontier into a luminous, three-dimensional cityscape that feels strangely familiar yet impossible to locate. With its disorienting sense of time and space, Cityscape 2095 places spectators on the observatory deck of a skyscraper, where they take in a sprawling, imaginary city as it glitters over the course of one day.

Coral: Rekindling Venus

Artist: Lynette Wallworth

Inspired by the first collaboration among the international science community to witness the celestial transit of Venus in 1761, Lynette Wallworth’s visually stunning Coral: Rekindling Venus is an augmented-reality and full-dome planetarium presentation designed to nurture an emotional connection between a global audience and the planet’s endangered coral reefs. This epic project features original deep-sea photography, augmented-reality artwork and music by Antony and the Johnsons. Presented at the New Frontier venue in Park City, Salt Lake City’s Clark Planetarium and other locations nationally. Details to be announced.

E.M-bed.de/d, Datamosh, Augmented Real

Artist: Yung Jake

Rap artist Yung Jake is Net art incarnate, flowing lyrics about tweet culture, data-moshing, hashtags, and memes as he blows up on Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, and Instagram in his HTML5 music video, E.M-bed.de/d. This MC drops unexpectedly into your browser sessions, streams into Festival screenings, Skype-bombs live DJ performances, and pops out of floors and magazines in augmented-reality music videos.

Eyjafjallalokull

Artist: Joanie Lemercier [AntiVJ]

Inspired by the 2010 Icelandic volcanic eruption that wreaked travel havoc across Europe, Eyjafjallalokull is a stunning, three-dimensional, audiovisual mapping installation that challenges audiences’ perception of space by creating an optical illusion that transforms the walls of New Frontier into a sweeping digital vista that artistically recreates the seismic event.

North of South, West of East

Artist: Meredith Danluck

North of South, West of East enhances narrative storytelling by wrapping the film around the entire room. Presented to an audience in swivel chairs, Meredith Danluck’s remarkable four-channel narrative feature deftly unspools a darkly humorous tale of small-town folks as they try to make sense of a posthope America. Shot on location in Detroit, Michigan, and Marfa, Texas, this unique film features fantastic performances by Ben Foster, Stella Schnabel, and Sue Galloway, and a soundtrack by Marfa local punk band Solid Waste.

Pulse Index

Artist: Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s beautifully resonant, interactive media installation swaths the central lounge of New Frontier with images of the warm, breathing flesh of its visitors. Pulse Index records the heart rates and fingerprints of participants and exhibits them in a beautiful Fibonacci pattern. Place your finger into the custom-made sensor, and your fingerprint appears on the largest cell of the display, pulsating to your heartbeat. Your print then travels down the sequence to join those of all the others who have visited the room, immersing the community space with the radiant glow of the human touch.

What’s He Building in There?

Artists: Klip Collective

Ricardo Rivera and the Klip Collective transform the entire front of the New Frontier venue into an interactive, 3-D projection-mapped parable, inspired by the Tom Waits song. Sip a hot beverage in the outdoor lounge and watch the walls and windowpanes dissolve into a story about a man on a mysterious mission inside the building. Use the X-ray flashlight to peek at what he is up to.

SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED Writer Penning Mystery Pixar Film

0
0

We don't know for sure who will be directing Star Wars: Episode VII, but earlier this week we found out that it would NOT be Colin Trevorrow, the director of the acclaimed indie hit Safety Not Guaranteed, since he and screenwriter Derek Connolly will be tackling a remake of Disney's Flight of the Navigator instead.

But that's not the only thing that Connolly has been working on lately. Ever since the time travel comedy made a big impression at Sundance (it'll likely end up on my favorites of the year list), Connolly has been working with the creative minds at Pixar on...something. Variety reports that Connolly made the move up to Pixar's Emeryville campus to write a screenplay for a film that we know nothing about. Germain at Slashfilm points out that there are four projects in development that we know are actually happening at Pixar: Monsters University in 2013, The Good Dinosaur in 2014, Up director Pete Docter's untitled movie about the mind, and Lee Unkrich's Day of the Dead film, and both of those last two don't have release dates yet. (Finding Nemo 2 is also in the mix, but not officially confirmed by Pixar yet.)

So what does this mean? We're not quite sure yet, but it'll likely be a few years before we find out what this movie even is and then another year or two after that before it finally hits theaters. All this waiting is tough, but a Pixar film from the writer of one of the year's best films will certainly be worth it. Time for some wanton speculation: what do you think this movie could be about? Do you think we'll see Pixar's first time travel film?

GANGSTER SQUAD - New Behind the Scenes Featurette

0
0

Warner Bros. has released a new behind the scenes video for Gangster Squad featuring the cast and director talking about the film and how they hope it will be this generation's classic gangster movie. I don't see why it wouldn't, it looks freakin' awesome! Everything I've seen from it so far has been great, and I'm excited to see it on the big screen!

Synopsis:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and--if he has his way--every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart. "Gangster Squad" is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD's efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

If you haven't watched the most recent trailer yet you've got to check it out right here! The video below contains a bit more new footage. The Ruben Fleischer-directed film stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi and Anthony Mackie. It's set to hit theaters on January 11th, 2013.

Zombie Love Story WARM BODIES Has Another Great Trailer

0
0

Summit Entertainment has released a second new trailer for the surprisingly great looking zombie film Warm Bodies. It features a few bits of new footage of John Malkovich's character. I seriously didn't think this film was going to look as good as it does. It just goes to show that there's a right way to make a supernatural love story, and Twilight isn't it.

The film is an adaptation of a novel written by Isaac Marion, and the story follows an "existentially-tormented zombie (Nicholas Hoult) named R that begins an unlikely friendship with the human girlfriend of one of his victims. The blossoming relationship starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies and maybe the whole lifeless world."

The movie also stars Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich, Analeigh Tipton, Dave Franco and Rob Corddry. It's set to be released on February 1st, 2013.

A&E has released two great promo teaser trailers for their new psychological thriller TV series Bates Motel, which is inspired by Alfred Hitchock's Psycho. The teasers show us that there is some pretty twisted stuff going on in this crazy little hotel and town.

The series gives us the origin story of Norman Bates dark, twisted past, from childhood through his teen years. It will chronicle how his mother, Norma, and her lover screwed Norman up, shaping him into the crazy serial killer that he became. The story also won't be limited just to what occurs in the rooms of the motel. It will also focus on the the town itself. Carlton Cuse (Lost) says, ''There are a lot of secrets that lurk beneath this bucolic veneer."

Bates Motel, serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film, “Pyscho,” and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years.

Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.

The first episode of the show is called "First You Dream, Then You Die", and here's its description, “Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of an idyllic coastal town seeking a fresh start with her teenage son, the handsome and shy Norman.”

The series is set to premiere in 2013, and I'm excited to see how it turns out! Enjoy the teasers!

Pixar Releases 2 MONSTERS UNIVERSITY Teaser Posters

Disney/Pixar has released two fun new teaser posters for Monsters University, the prequel to the adorable Monsters Inc. This movie gives us the origin story of how these two lovable monsters met and became friends. I loved the first film, and I'm sure this is going to be just as entertaining. Who knows, it might even end up being better! Hopefully we get a full trailer for the movie soon.

Synopsis:

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”). The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

The movie stars the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray and Peter Sohn. It hits theaters on June 21st, 2013. Click here to watch the teaser trailer for the movie!

Jon Favreau and David Fincher Want Some STAR WARS Action!

0
0

As you know, there's been a lot of rumors surrounding X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn coming on board to direct Star Wars Episode VII. Now that would be cool, but you know what would be even better? Seeing Jon Favreau and David Fincher taking on the Star Wars universe!

Since I first heard we were going to get more Star Wars movies, Favreau's been at the top of my list of directors to bring it to life. The guy just has everything it takes to make a great Star Wars film, and he's a huge fan! Let's face it...he and Star Wars belong together. So I was incredibly excited to see a recent report from Deadline saying that Favreau is actively trying to get the job! It would be so freakin' awesome if he actually landed the gig for Episode VII. But, even if he doesn't, there's still a big chance he could develop one of the other movies!

Then there's Fincher, who's also a favorite director of mine. I never even thought of him taking it on, but the site also says that he's also interested in working on one of the Star Wars films. Fincher worked for Industrial Light and Magic in his teenage years and he's also a fan of the franchise, so it makes sense that he would want in on this action.

So here are two amazingly talented directors who want to direct a Star Wars film. If this is true, I hope Lucasfilm and Disney end up letting them do it! I don't see why they wouldn't. Are you excited about the possibility that either of these fimmakers could end up directing a Star Wars movie?

When Favreau was asked about the new Star Wars in a previous interview he said,

I think both J.J. and I come from a generation of people who formed our whole creative persona around what we experienced as kids from watching those films, and I have had the good fortune of working with George [Lucas] and around George, and whether it is doing a voice on Clone Wars, or being at the Skywalker Ranch mixing Iron Man – so I have been very happy and lucky to just experience the culture that Lucas has created, both in my own life growing up as a kid and professional – whether it was interviewing him at film festivals on stage, he is just a really wonderful, talented gifted guy who has changed the business so much, so I am just giddy, first and foremost as a fan, to see what happens with it. I think there is a lot of question marks of how they are going to do it, and who they are going to do it with, and what the story is going to be about; but to say that I am not excited about it is definitely an understatement. We’ll see.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD AND CHROME Episodes 7 and 8!

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome Episodes 7 and 8 are now online for your enjoyment! These next two episodes are really good and pretty intense. This has been a great series so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends. I'm kind of sad that we won't see the story continue once it's over.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly find himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

The original pilot will air on the Syfy network in early 2013 with an unrated Blu-ray/DVD coming in February 19, 2013. The last two episode will premiere next Friday on Machinima Prime.

2 New TV Spots For THE HOBBIT Offers First Quick Look at Smaug

Here's a couple new TV Spots for The: Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and it looks like we get our first look at Smaug played by Benedict Cumberbatch. In the first trailer, which is a bootleg, there are two quick shots of a dragon flying around. Peter Jackson spent a lot of time trying to find the right look for Smaug, and in a recent interview with the L.A. Times he talked about and said,

The trouble with redesigning dragons I’ve found is… you very quickly can go into science fiction territory, and I don’t want to do that. I want to present the most venal, scary, decrepit, nasty dragon I possibly can.

We still don't get a clear look at Smaug, and I can't wait to get a detailed look at the design they ended up using! I've seen this trailer on TV, but it has yet to be officially released online. When it is I'll replace this bootleg version.

The Hobbit hits theaters on December 14th!

This second one is an international spot called "Fate":

From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first of a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. The three films tell a continuous story set in Middle-earth 60 years before “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”

The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Ian McKellen on Returning To The X-MEN Franchise

Earlier this week director Bryan Singer announced that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart were set to reprise their roles as Magneto and Professor X in X-Men: Days of Future Past. It was also announced that Hugh Jackman was in talks to come back as Wolverine. It's going to be awesome to see the old gang back together again! The Huffington Post asked McKellen about his return to the franchise, and this is what he had to say...

What a gas! I mean, Patrick Stewart and I have been have just been playing 'Waiting for Godot' throughout England and in the West End of London. So, we've stayed in touch. We can't believe it [laughs]. I thought these were Fassbender and McAvoy's parts, but -- no, no -- we're back. We'll give them a run for their money. I mean, I haven't read the script, so I don't know how much we've got to do. But, to be back in that world, and for Bryan to be doing it -- with all the success he's had in the meantime -- it's wonderful. Wonderful.

He then talked about Michael Fassbender's performance as Magneto in First Class,

I thought he was exactly that: first class. Excellent... I thought he was better than me. But, we weren't quite playing the same character because he was so much younger than me.

The movie will be released in theaters on July 18th, 2014, and with the cast coming back and the story they are going to tell, it's going to be epic! It will be the biggest X-men movie yet.

Intense Trailer For The K2 Climbing Doc THE SUMMIT

"The deadliest day on the world's most dangerous mountain."

I'm a sucker for documentary films, and The Summit looks insanely intense. It follows a group of people who make an attempt to climb K2. Unfortunately, some of them never made it. 24 people set out on the journey... 11 of them didn't make it back. If I ever try to get adventurous and do something like this, please talk me out of it. The last time I did something crazy I almost died -- in case you're curious, it was an insane mountain biking adventure in Moab Utah.

The movie is set to show at 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and this one is definitely going on my list of must watch films while I'm there. Here's the full synopsis:

In August 2008, twenty-four climbers from several international expeditions converged on High Camp of K2, the last stop before the summit of the most dangerous mountain on earth. Forty-eight hours later, eleven had been killed or had vanished, making it the worst K2 climbing disaster in history.

In a century of assaults on K2, only about 300 people have ever seen the view from the planet's second highest peak. More than a quarter of those who made it didn't live long enough to share the glory, or to tell the tale.

At the heart of The Summit lies a mystery about one extraordinary man, Ger McDonnell. By all accounts, he was faced with a heart-breaking dilemma-- at the very limit of his mortal resources, he encountered a disastrous scene and a moral dilemma: three climbers tangled up in ropes and running out of time. In the death zone, above 8,000 metres, the body is literally dying with each passing second. Morality is skewed 180 degrees from the rest of life. When a climber falls or wanders off the trail, the unwritten code of the mountain is to leave them for dead. Had Ger McDonnell stuck to the climbers' code, he might still be alive.

The Summit is about the very nature of modern adventure. Those who survive carry with them a commodity to sell-- The Story. This one remains contentious and fiercely debated.

Now watch the trailer and tell me this doesn't look like a crazy movie!

We are coming up on the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, and Taiwan got a crazy new promo trailer showing off a lot of intense new footage. It also teases the surprising return of a character. I won't say who it is, so if you want to know you'll just have to watch the very Taiwanese and spoilerish promo trailer...

I will say that the character returns to haunt Rick's hallucinations.

Trailer For Spike Jonze's Skateboarding Film PRETTY SWEET

Here's the trailer for a cool looking skateboarding film called Pretty Sweet, which was directed by Ty EvansCory Weincheque and Spike Jonze. Jonze is involved with a very wide variety of projects, and has always broken ground with the inventive skits and filming techniques he has brought to the Girl/Chocolate and Lakai skate videos. The director also picks up his skateboard for the film and shows off his skating skills. The film features the infamously tight-knit Girl and Chocolate crew, including Guy Mariano, Eric KostonSean MaltoMarc Johnson, Jesus Fernandez, Vincent AlvarezElijah Berle, Justin Eldridge, Brian Anderson and a ton of other skaters.

I love the sport of skateboarding, and I've always enjoyed watching skate videos and documentaries. There's some really cool shots in the trailer -- even when Marc Johnson DOESN'T land a trick it still looks buttery. It's definitely worth checking out for anyone looking to see some awesomeness! Head on over to the official website for more information and videos!

Synopsis:

This is an epic tale of two gangs, like The Jets and The Sharks. But Girl and Chocolate aren’t even gangs. Some of them act tough and some of them act like babies. But they are even more unlike the Jets and The Sharks in that they aren’t even battling each other for territory. They really don’t know what the hell they are doing. They don’t have a feud, most of them really like each other so that is another thing they don’t have in common with the Jets and the Sharks. What they do have in common with The Jets and The Sharks is they love to dance. And when I say dance, I mean SKATE. And when I say SKATE, I mean really good. From the directors that brought you Mouse, Yeah Right and Fully Flared, another chapter in this tale with no plot, no ending but beautiful inner battles acted out on a little board with wheels.

J.J. Abrams' GOD PARTICLE Finds Its Director

Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot have hired newcomer Julius Onah to direct the J.J. Abrams produced film God Particle. The story follows "an American space station crew left abandoned after a problem with a Hadron accelerator causes Earth to vanish entirely." That sure sounds terrifying! The crew of the orbiting American space station is left floating in the middle of empty space... alone. That is until a European spacecraft appears on their radar, "the Americans must determine whether it’s their salvation, or a harbinger of doom."

Oren Uziel wrote the script for the awesome sounding project, which has a budget of around $5-10 million. This could end up being a great movie. I love the concept and I hope Onah is up for the challenge. Before landing this gig, he was mostly known for directing short films such as Big Man and Little Girl Blue.

He wouldn't have been hired if Abrams and the other producers of the film didn't think he had a solid vision for the film and the talent to bring it to life. It will be cool to watch this film develop!

(The artwork above was created by John Berkey and has nothing to do with the film.)
