I actually ended up really enjoying Amazon's pilot episode for The Tick. Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, Shaun of the Dead) was great in the title role, and he did such an awesome job bringing the character to life in a way I wasn't expecting. Well, the fans loved it, and Amazon went ahead and ordered a full season!
This is our first look at The Tick wearing a new costume design for the series. I was fine with the first costume design they used, but this one is definitely better. It's got a much sleeker, cleaner, and modern look to it. The first costume, which you can see below, was a lot rougher looking.
Are you excited for the new Tick series? What do you think of The Tick's shiny new outfit!

We’ve already heard a lot about the main characters in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but today we have some new info on the character Kraglin. He’s played by director James Gunn’s brother Sean Gunn, and while talking to We Got This Covered, he revealed that Kraglin will have an expanded role this time around.
In case you need a reminder of who this character is, he’s basically Yondu’s right-hand man. He had a fun supporting role that got a decent amount of screen time in the first film. When talking about his role in the sequel and what his part in the story will be, Gunn said:
“Kraglin gets a little bit more to do in the second movie because it’s only a couple months after the first movie has ended. And Peter Quill is double-crossed Yondu and the Ravagers, and yet we haven’t gone after him really. So I think the other Ravagers are sort of like, ‘Wait a minute, what’s going on here? Where does your loyalty lie? Does your loyalty lie with Quill or is it with us?’ So, Kraglin has some decisions to make in terms of where he’s going to fall down, should mutiny go down. That’s always a very fun to play. You want to have a character who has some sort of moral dilemma. So that’s what was really exciting mostly about the second movie for me.”
Judging from what we’ve seen in the trailers it looks like there is some crazy mutiny that goes down with the Ravagers; I’m not sure if Kraglin was involved with it, though. Gunn also opened up about his involvement in Avengers: Infinity War as the stand-in for Rocket Raccoon saying:
“I have to point out that Kraglin is not currently in the next Avengers movie. I’m playing Rocket on set in Infinity War. I do double duty on Guardians. I play Kraglin on camera, and then I also play Rocket on set. So I work with the other actors and I do the motion reference for the visual set scene for Rocket, and that’s what I’m doing in Infinity War.”
That’s all he really had to say about that. Anyone involved with these projects lucky to be a part of something so cool. I’m excited for what Marvel is getting ready unleash on the world.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5th and Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4th, 2018.

Hey, Mr. Robot fans! Guess what? Mr. Robot season three is set to premiere on the USA network in October… OCTOBER! Look, I love this show, and I’m pumped up for what season three of the crazy hacker thriller is going to bring us.
The news comes from Variety, who also reports that Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man, Vinyl) is joining the series as a character named Irving, described as “a laconic, no-nonsense used car salesman.” BD Wong has also jumped on board as a series regular. He was previously a guest star as a transgender hacker named Whiterose, who is part of the Dark Army hacker group.
Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment had this to say in a statement:
“Sam Esmail is a true creative visionary who continues to deliver a series that boldly tackles timely issues and leans into the major headlines of the day. We’re eager to share the next phase of Elliot’s journey with fans this fall.”
Jeff Wachtel, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s chief content officer added:
“Season 3 of ‘Mr. Robot’ will engage viewers in a whole new way, with Sam and team continuing to find ways to surprise, challenge and delight the audience. And adding Bobby Cannavale and BD Wong to our cast makes one of the tightest acting ensembles even stronger.”
The series stars Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallström, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer, and Stephanie Corneliussen.

Ridley Scott was at SXSW promoting his upcoming Alien: Covenant this weekend, and he revealed he has ideas for a sequel to another of his old properties: Gladiator. There is just one tiny issue: (SPOILER!) Maximus dies at the end of Gladiator. But Scott won’t let that stop him. He told EW:
“I know how to bring him back. I was having this talk with the studio — ‘but he’s dead.’ But there is a way of bringing him back. Whether it will happen I don’t know. Gladiator was 2000, so Russell’s changed a little bit. He’s doing something right now but I’m trying to get him back down here.”
I assume he has some plan that doesn’t involve a zombie outbreak in Ancient Rome. Maybe Maximus sets up a gladiatorial contest in the Fields of Asphodel? Or Elysium, if we're being generous? The only real way I can see this working is if Scott plans to make a prequel, not a sequel. I would be totally down to watch Maximus’s days as a Roman general. But there is also a problem with that: it has been 17 years since the movie came out, and in that time star Russell Crowe has aged about 30 years, and at least some of Gladiator’s appeal was hot young Russell Crowe. Lola VFX would have their work cut out for them.
Or they could go this batshit route: Back when Dreamworks, Scott, and Crowe were initially making sequel plans, they commissioned Nick Cave to write a script for a sequel in which the Roman gods return Maximus to Earth to kill Jesus. Birth Movies Death posted a detailed summary of the script a couple years ago, and you really should read it, because it is really really crazy, and in the end Maximus is cursed to fight in every war in history or something. The movie would end with him in the Pentagon getting ready to lunch nuclear missiles. See, this is why studios don't let directors kill the main characters of tentpole films anymore.
In 2013, Cave told Marc Maron:
“He becomes this eternal warrior, and it ends with this 20 minute war scene which follows all the wars in history, right up to Vietnam and all that sort of stuff and it was wild. It was a stone cold masterpiece. I enjoyed writing it very much because I knew on every level that it was never going to get made. Let’s call it a popcorn dropper.”
Presumably Cave is right, and that script is never ever going to be produced. But a tiny part of me really hopes that when Ridley Scott says, “I know how to bring him back,” he doesn’t mean in flashbacks or in the memories of his surviving son or in a prequel, he means that the Roman gods can return Maximus to Earth to kill Jesus. Because as terrible as it would be (and it would be TERRIBLE), it sounds like the kind of terrible I would love to see.

The author of the zombie novel World War Z, Max Brooks, also wrote a great fact-based graphic novel called Harlem Hellfighters, and Will Smith is set to produce an adaptation of it for The History Channel. This is going to make a great series because it will tell an incredible story.
The story is based on the real-life U.S. Army's 369th infantry division, “an African American unit fighting in Europe during World War I. Breaking down racial barriers, the unit spent more time in combat than any other American unit, never losing a foot of ground to the enemy, or a man to capture, and went on to win countless decorations. They faced tremendous discrimination during the war and even when they returned from the front as heroes.
“What changed for the men of Harlem was being assigned to a French command whereupon the Hellfighters first experienced something unknown to them in America at that time — racial equality. The unit would eventually be awarded the Croix de Guerre by the French Government for their distinction in battle in liberating France from the Germans.”
This is going to make a great series! The adaptation is being planned as a six-hour long limited series, and the script is being written by Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio, who wrote the Dwayne Johnson earthquake adventure movie San Andreas.
An adaptation of this graphic novel was originally set up as a feature film at Sony Pictures, but they never did anything with it. I actually think a series like this will suit the story better. This is one of those TV projects that’s worth being excited about. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Last year we learned that the final two seasons of Game of Thrones would consist of 13 to 15 episodes total. We now know what the final number is. It was already revealed that the upcoming seventh season will have seven episodes, now producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have confirmed that the eighth and final season will only consist of six episodes.
The producers recently took part in a panel at SXSW, and according to EW, Benioff said:
“It’s only going to be six episodes for the final season. From the beginning we’ve wanted to tell a 70-hour movie. It will turn out to be a 73-hour movie, but it’s stayed relatively the same of having the beginning, middle and now we’re coming to the end. It would have been really tough if we lost any core cast members along the way, I’m very happy we’ve kept everyone and we get to finish it the way we want to.”
Damn, Game of Thrones is going to come to an end pretty quickly. It's hard to think that after this epic journey it's all going to end soon. I'm sure fans will get the satisfying ending that we've all been hoping for. One thing we should all be happy and excited about is the fact that Benioff and Weiss got to tell the entire story they wanted to tell.
They also confirmed that HBO might actually end up doing another Game of Thrones series, but they said that they won't be a part of it. Benioff said:
“I think HBO might well do [another series] and I look forward to watching it and I think it be great, but I think they should get new blood in."
The producers also confirmed that musician Ed Sheeran will have a cameo in season seven. Apparently, this is something they've been trying to set up as a surprise to Maisie Williams for years.
Last week it was announced that Game of Thrones season seven will premiere on July 16, 2017. Make sure to watch the promo teaser if you haven't seen it yet.

It turns out one of my theories about Alien: Covenant and the creation of the Xenomorphs was actually right! We now know the true origin of the Xenomorphs thanks to some footage from the film that was screened over the weekend at SXSW. If you don’t want to know the details about the origin of this deadly breed of aliens, I suggest you don’t read ahead.
The news comes from The Verge, who saw the 20 minutes of footage that was screened. One of the scenes featured Michael Fassbender's android character from Prometheus, David, who, after landing on the planet, begins experimenting with the aliens and through those experimentations, the Xenomorphs are born. The site offers the following details:
In the final preview scene, Michael Fassbender’s android David (he’s definitely the same character from Prometheus in this scene, as he’s called David by name) walks Billy Crudup’s character through his personal workshop of biological terrors. He shows off different mutations of the creatures, explaining that he has been trying to understand the aliens that were discovered in Prometheus, going so far as to genetically engineer new versions — a process that’s been waiting for one final puzzle piece to complete.
That’s when David takes him into a small chamber filled with four eggs that look identical to the ones seen in the original Alien. The final puzzle piece, David says, is “mother” — a waiting host — and Crudup’s character is lined up for the honor. The dots are easy to connect: the alien as audiences saw it in 1979 wasn’t the result of evolution or natural selection. Instead, it was the result of an android intentionally breeding the most dangerous, lethal creature possible. We have already seen parts of this sequence in the trailers that have been released. I love the fact that the xenomorphs were never a part of evolution, they were full-on genetically engineered species of death by a curious android looking to push the boundaries of nature and life.
The report goes on to state that the Alien franchise suddenly becomes “a story about humanity sowing the seeds of its own demise, through a relentless pursuit of technology and artificial intelligence.”
I actually really like the direction that Scott is taking the Alien franchise, and I’m looking forward to seeing where he takes it from here. The director is completely invested in the franchise and recently said he’s ready to make six more films if there’s a audience wanting to watch it. What do you think? Do you like what Scott is doing with the origin of the Xenomorphs?
The True Origin of the Xenomorphs Has Been Revealed in ALIEN: COVENANT
With Luke Skywalker set to play a major role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a lot of fans have been wondering if we might also see force ghost versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi and/or Yoda. It's not too far-fetched to think that we might see these characters in the film.
Frank Oz, the original voice of Yoda. was recently asked if Yoda would make an appearance in the movie, and although he didn't confirm it, he didn't deny it either, and that's saying something. This is the intriguing answer he gave Variety:
"I feel like I'm a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I've been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me."
Here's the thing, if he wasn't playing Yoda in the movie, all he would have to do is give a simple "no" as an answer. Instead, he says, "I've been asked not to talk about it," and that he'd be happy to talk about it after "They let me." Why are Disney and Lucasfilm specifically asking him not to talk about it, and why does he need their permission if he's not reprising the role of Yoda?
His response definitely implies that Yoda could show up in the movie, and I hope he does! I hope he comes in to offer some more advice that will help Luke Skywalker on his new journey. There have been previous rumors regarding Oz's reprisal of Yoda, but this is the first time he's actually said anything about it.
We'll find out for sure whether Yoda is in the movie when it's released in December. Do you hope to see Yoda The Last Jedi?

Pixar is famous for dropping little cameos and references into their films, but if you grew up with Disney movies, you've probably realized that Walt Disney Animation has been doing the same thing for decades. Many of their cameos are pretty obvious — there's nothing subtle about Sebastian popping up in Aladdin, for example — but I guarantee there are some in this supercut compilation video that you've never clocked before. Did you know that Flounder from The Little Mermaid appears in Moana? I sure as hell didn't. Check this out, and see if there are any other connections you didn't notice.
I Guarantee You've Never Noticed Some of These Cameos in Disney's Animated Movies
CBS is officially set to move forward with their Big Bang Theory spinoff series called Young Sheldon. As you can tell by the title, the series will focus on the character Sheldon when he was a little kid.
Iron Man and Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is officially set to executive produce the series and direct the pilot episode! It seems like he's the perfect guy for the job! Lain Armitage ( Big Little Lies) has been cast in the role of nine-year-old Sheldon. The series set in East Texas where he will be attending high school. Jim Parson will also be involved with the project and will narrate the series as the adult version of Sheldon.
The half-hour comedy series was created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro who originally pitched the idea as being Malcolm in the Middle, but with a young Sheldon.
The series also stars Zoe Perry as Sheldon's mom Mary Cooper; Raegan Revord as a young version of Sheldon's twin sister Missy; Lance Barber as George, Sheldon and Missy's father; and Montana Jordan as George Jr., Sheldon's older brother.
Hopefully, the series turns out to be just as fun and entertaining as The Big Bang Theory.

Jake Busey, son of Gary Busey, is the latest addition to the cast of Shane Black's The Predator. Busey has a long list of films he's been a part of including The Frighteners and Starship Troopers. There's no information on who he'll be playing in the film, but it's interesting to note that Jake's dad Gary starred in the 1990 film Predator 2, so it seems as though Jake is following in his dad's footsteps.
I don't think there will be any connection as far as the story is concerned, but we'll see. The only aspect of the story that we really know involves Tremblay's character, who is "a troubled boy who is accidentally drawn into the conflict with the fierce alien creatures by his father," who is played by Holbrook. We also know that the film will have a fresh new perspective and that it's going to give us something that we aren't expecting.
Busey will join the previously cast Thomas Jane, Alfie Allen, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, Augusto Aguilera. Olivia Munn, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, and Sterling K. Brown.
The Predator will be released in theaters in February 2018.

Ridley Scott is set to direct a new film project that has nothing to do with aliens. The film is called All the Money in the World, and it centers around true life events surrounding the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III. I don't know if you're familiar with this story or not, but it's pretty intense. Here's a breakdown:
At 3 a.m. on 10 July 1973, Getty, then age 16, was kidnapped in the Piazza Farnese in Rome. A ransom note was received, demanding $17 million in exchange for his safe return. When that ransom message arrived, some family members suspected the kidnapping was merely a ploy by the rebellious youngster as he had frequently joked about staging his own kidnapping to extract money from his frugal grandfather. He was blindfolded and imprisoned in a mountain hideout. A second demand was received, but had been delayed by an Italian postal strike. John Paul Getty, Jr. asked his father for the money, but was refused. Getty Sr. argued that were he to pay the ransom, then his 14 other grandchildren could also be kidnapped. In November 1973, an envelope containing a lock of hair and a human ear was delivered to a daily newspaper with a threat of further mutilation of Paul, unless $3.2 million was paid: "This is Paul's ear. If we don't get some money within 10 days, then the other ear will arrive. In other words, he will arrive in little bits."
At this point Getty Sr. agreed to pay a ransom, although he would only pay $2.2 million, because that was the maximum amount that was tax deductible. He loaned the remainder to his son who was responsible for repaying the sum at 4% interest. The reluctant Getty Sr. negotiated a deal and got his grandson back for about $2.9 million. Getty III was found alive in a filling station of Lauria, in the province of Potenza, on 15 December 1973, shortly after the ransom was paid.
Natalie Portman is currently in talks to take on the role of Gail Harris, the mother of John who made the desperate attempt to get John Paul Getty Sr. to pay the ransom. This sounds like it will be a great role for Portman to take on after her awesome portrayal of Jackie Kennedy.
Portman and Scott have never worked together before, and I think they would make an awesome creative team. Hopefully everything works out for this project.
Natalie Portman May Star in Ridley Scott's Getty Kidnapping Drama ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD
When I walked out of the theater after seeing Furious 7 for the first time, I was convinced that it was the best movie of the Fast & Furious franchise. Now that I've had more time to think about it, though, I'm torn between Furious 7 and Fast Five being at the top of my personal list. They both have their strengths, but one of the things that could potentially give Furious 7 an edge is that it includes an onscreen fight between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw.
Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions has launched a YouTube show called Action Science, and in this episode, the team breaks down the science of the movie's hand-to-hand fight sequence. It basically confirms that these guys would have to be superheroes to survive things like this, but it's still cool to hear legit statistics being incorporated into the mix.
Action Science Breaks Down FURIOUS 7's Hobbs vs. Shaw Fight
Marvel has announced another new Star Wars comic that is definitely going to pique the interest of Darth Vader fans. The comic will focus on the young version of Darth Vader and tell the stories of his early years as a Sith Lord. In fact, the story will pick up at the end of Revenge of the Sith, right after Darth Vader joins Emperor Palpatine in viewing the construction of the Death Star.
The comic is called Darth Vader, and it's being written by Charles Soule with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli. During an interview with IGN, Soule compared his approach to the story to Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s Batman: Year One comic, which told the origins of how Batman went from rookie vigilante to the seasoned Dark Knight. The writer said:
“The book begins one second after the end of Revenge of the Sith. Darth Vader is in the armored suit that we see throughout the rest of his life, most of his life. He is just awakening to that moment and that realization. So he has shouted ‘No!’ in the way we see in the film, and then it picks up immediately after that point. So we see him adjusting to that. We see him learning to be more machine than man. We see him going through some really, really cool early moments of his early mythology and history."
I'm already fascinated by the concept of this, and I can't wait to read these stories of a young Vader. Soule went on to talk about some of the stories that the comic will explore, such as the construction of his red Lightsaber. He explains:
“The first arc is going to revolve around Vader's construction of his red lightsaber, because at the end of Revenge of the Sith, he obviously loses his blue saber when he gets all chopped up and Obi-Wan takes it to eventually give to Luke down the road. So we end up with a character who is known as having this iconic sword, like his magical red sword, but he doesn't have it yet. So what better way to start a big huge series than with a quest for a magic sword? We're going to explore the mythology around lightsabers to some degree, which will be very fun. I'm really lucky that I get to tell that story. Seems like a big piece of the puzzle for him.”
He went on to compare this new Darth Vader comic series to the previous one from Kieron Gillen, which recently wrapped up its 25-issue run. That comic took place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. This new one will feature a much different Vader:
“I would say that in Kieron's series, you had a man who had been doing that job and was sort of accustomed to his reality in a way that this Vader is not. So [in this new series] the fire is burning very, very bright in terms of his hatred and anger and the things he's trying to work through. He's trying to understand himself, whereas Vader in Gillen's series was almost sort of an older crocodile that's been around for a long, long time and has no real enemies or challenges. Obviously there were challenges in that book, but this is someone who's very, very sure of his place in the universe and galaxy. It was kind of about topping that a little and taking that away from him and seeing what he did."
He went on to describe what the Vader in this new series will be like, saying:
"Now this is more someone who isn't sure what's going to happen to him. He doesn't know if he's going to be alive in two weeks or 40 years. He doesn't know what his day to day is going to look like and he doesn't know what his purpose is. So it's about trying to understand that, what life without Padme is like, and just kind of understand what it means to be a Sith lord, because all this stuff is new to him. And really exploring the Dark Side in an open way where he doesn't have to be ashamed, doesn't have to hide from the Jedi, can really go deep into it."
I'm seriously excited about this series. This is a part of Vader's life that I've always been interested in learning about and now that story is finally going to be told!
Darth Vader #1 will release in June from Marvel Comics.
