First Trailer for Disney's New Animated DUCKTALES Series

0

Disney XD has released the first full trailer for their DuckTales revival series. It definitely looks like a show that was made for a new generation of kids. As someone who grew up on the original series, it looks like it's going to take some getting used to. The style of the series was inspired by the work of Disney Legend Carl Barks and his comic books. It looks like it could be fun, but I know for sure that the kiddos are going to love it.

The new DuckTales series’ adventures will once again take viewers along as Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews—Huey, Dewey, and Louie—and the optimistic-yet-temperamental Donald Duck embark on high-flying adventures worldwide. Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack.

The series has a great voice cast that includes Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey, and Louie, with David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck. Beck Bennett plays Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye is Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci is Webby Vanderquack.

Other characters that will appear in the series include Donald Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Gyro Gearloose, Duckworth, Gizmoduck, Magica DeSpell, Gladstone Gander, and Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys.

The DuckTales revival will premiere sometime this summer, and it's already been announced that there will be a season two.

Learn How To Make RATATOUILLE Just Like It Was In The Movie

Andrew Rea has been a celebrity of sorts on the site lately with his movie and television inspired dishes that look amazing! Today, he hits us with a topic we've covered in the past, but somehow manages to beat Pixar at their own game! His method not only looks easier than Pixar's, but the final result looks more appetizing as well. Side note, I did not know you're supposed to remove the charred bits of peppers and that's probably why my roasted peppers suck.

Take a look at how he brings the dish from Ratatouille to plate in the video below.

Trailer for the Armenian Genocide Epic THE PROMISE with Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac

The Promise is a historical epic set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire during the Armenian Genocide. The story for the film follows a love triangle between Michael, a brilliant medical student (Oscar Isaac), the beautiful and sophisticated Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), and Chris, a renowned American journalist based in Paris (Christian Bale).

I've wondered if we'd ever see a mainstream Hollywood film about the Armenian genocide. I grew up in Glendale, CA, which has a huge Armenian population, so I've heard a lot of crazy horrific stories about the genocide. I guess it's logical to take the love story route with the film, but it looks like we going to see some intense battle scenes as well.

Empires fall, love survives. When Michael (Isaac), a brilliant medical student, meets Ana (Le Bon), their shared Armenian heritage sparks an attraction that explodes into a romantic rivalry between Michael and Ana’s boyfriend Chris (Bale), a famous American photojournalist dedicated to exposing political truth. As the Ottoman Empire crumbles into war-torn chaos, their conflicting passions must be deferred while they join forces to get their people to safety and survive themselves.

The Promise is directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Terry George and will be released April 21st.

STAR TREK Veteran Alexander Siddig Cast as Ra’s al Ghul in GOTHAM

Ra’s al Ghul is finally coming to Gotham, and the leader of the League of Shadows will be played by Star Trek veteran Alexander Siddig. He's also been featured in films and TV shows that include Kingdom of Heaven, 24, Syriana, Hannibal, Games of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Da Vinci's Demons, Peaky Blinders, and more.

Siddig is the perfect actor to play Ra's al Ghul in Gotham! He's going to fit right into the role and give fans an awesome portrayal. The character was previously played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins, and Matt Nable played him in Arrow. Variety reports:

As Bruce (David Mazouz) pulls the veil off the Court of Owls, he learns the man pulling the strings is in fact Ra’s al Ghul. A man shrouded in mystery — and the leader of the international criminal organization the League of Shadows — Ra’s al Ghul uses his cunning and deception to lay waste to his enemies, and will prove to be Bruce’s most dangerous adversary yet.

I've been enjoying Gotham and how it's been handling these classic DC characters. The creative team has obviously been having a lot of fun with it, and I'm excited to see where it all leads. What do you all think about Siddig taking on the role of Ra's al Ghul?

Gotham is set to returns to Fox on April 24th. Ra's al Ghul is set to appear later in the season.

New Trailer for T2: TRAINSPOTTING Says It's an "Intense Emotional Rollercoaster"

We've got a new trailer for you to watch for Danny Boyle's long awaited Trainspotting sequel, T2: Trainspotting. It's a fantastic trailer that is filled with praise from critics who loved the movie. If you were hoping that this would be a great film, it looks like that's what we're going to get. The trailer is also filled with some fun new footage.

I loved the first Trainspotting film. Regardless of how dark and depressing it was, there were still life lessons to be learned from it. This sequel seems like it's going to have a more positive inspiring tone, though, as Renton comes back clean of heroin, and he wants to help his friend Spud get clean and find purpose. Don't worry, there's still going to lots of crazy shit that goes down!

Ewan McGregor returns to the role of Renton, Ewen Bremner as Spud, Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy, and Robert Carlyle as Begbie. The rest of the cast features many other familiar faces such is Kelly Macdonald, author Irvine WelshSimon Weir, and Karl Argue. This is the synopsis that was released:

First there was an opportunity......then there was a betrayal.

Twenty years have gone by.
Much has changed but just as much remains the same.
Mark Renton (McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home.

They are waiting for him: Spud (Bremner), Sick Boy (Miller), and Begbie (Carlyle).

Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

T2: Trainspotting is set to be released on March 17th, 2017.

Patrick Stewart Might Not Retire From Professor X After All Because of DEADPOOL

Last week Patrick Stewart announced that he would be retiring from playing Professor Xavier in the X-Men franchise because Logan was so damn good. The experience was so emotional for him that he said he "realized there will never be a better, a more perfect, a more sensitive, emotional, and beautiful way of saying au revoir to Charles Xavier than this movie."

Well, it looks like he might not be done with playing Professor X after all, and it's all thanks to Deadpool. Before Stewart announced his X-Men retirement, there was a video that teased the possibility that he could be involved with Deadpool 2

The talk of appearing in Deadpool 2 could pull him out of his X-Men retirement. During a recent Facebook Live event with Jackman and MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz, Stewart was asked if he was officially done with X-Men, and this was his reply:

"I would have said yes, but the discussion just now about Deadpool makes me think, 'Well, maybe there is a proper justification for the revival of Charles Xavier.'"

So, we can all thank Deadpool for making Stewart second guess his retirement as Professor X. I could totally see this whole thing of Stewart retiring from the X-Men movie franchise being worked into the Deadpool 2 script!

I hope Stewart is teasing again that he'll be in Deadpool 2 because that would be amazing if he actually shows up in the sequel!

STRANGER THINGS Star David Harbour in the Running for Cable in DEADPOOL 2

0

Hey gang! I've got some pretty radical Deadpool 2 news for you. According to The Wrap, Stranger Things star David Harbour is in the running to play Cable! Talk about inspired possible casting! Harbour plays Chief Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, and according to the report, he's already done a screen test with Ryan Reynolds for the mutant character.

I never thought of Harbour in the role until now and it just seems like it needs to happen. He hasn't received any kind of offer yet and I'm sure the studio is looking at several other actors as well, but it definitely seems like he would be a solid fit. He definitely has the physical statue and look for the role. On top of that, he's a great actor.

In a separate report from Collider, they say that Michael Shannon was actually in the mix to play Cable at one point, but that's no longer the case because of some scheduling issues. No other names are mentioned but there have been a lot of rumors and speculation as to who it could be ranging from Jon Hamm to Russell Crowe

John Wick director David Leitch is set to direct Deadpool 2 from a story and script being developed by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Drew Goddard. Deadpool 2 will help set the stage for an X-Force movie that will be written and possibly directed by Joe Carnahan.

I'd love to see Harbour in the role of Cable. I think he'd make a better fit than Russell Crowe, but what do you all think?

The BUMBLEBEE Solo Movie will be Helmed by KUBO Director Travis Knight

Paramount Pictures has hired Travis Knight to direct their Transformers Bumblebee spinoff movie. Knight is the director behind last year's stop-motion animated masterpiece Kubo and the Two Strings, which was robbed at the Oscars this year.

Hiring Knight to direct the film might just be one of the best decisions that the studio could have made. The guy has proven that he has a great sense of character development and storytelling. This would be his first live action film and I think he'll do a great job with it and give fans something spectacularly cool!

The screenplay fro the film was written by Christina Hodson (Shut In) and it will be produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventure, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.

In case you didn't already know, Knight is the son of Nike founder Phil Knight and he's also president and CEO of Laika, which is the studio that made Kubo and the Two Strings and all of the other delightful stop-motion animated films such as The BoxtrollsParaNorman and Coraline.

There are no story details that have been released for the film yet, but I'm sure it will be a wild action-packed adventure. The movie is scheduled to be released on June 8, 2018.

LOST Actor Ken Leung Joins Marvel's INHUMANS Series

0

Marvel is quickly bulking up the cast for their Inhumans series. We've got Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) playing Balck Bolt, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) playing Maximus the Mad, and Serinda Swan (Smallville) taking on the role of the queen, Medusa. The latest edition to the cast in former Lost actor Ken Leung, who recently worked on NBC's The Night Shift and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

According to Variety, he will take on the role of a character named Karnak. He is Black Bolt’s cousin and closest advisor. "His gift is an ability to see the fault in all things — people, plans, structures, everything. He’s Black Bolt’s most ardent supporter and strategist and is often seen as the royal family’s planner and philosopher."

Marvel head of television and executive producer Jeph Loeb said in a statement:

“Ken brings both a wisdom and a power to the role that no one else could match. His Karnak will be awesome."

Showrunner and executive producer Scott Buck added,

“Ken Leung has a great natural intelligence that reads clearly and will add depth and complexity to the very complicated character of Karnak.”

Marvel’s Inhumans follows a race of superhumans with diverse and unique powers and explores the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the Royal Family.

Feature director Roel Reine (Death Race 2, The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe, The Scorpion King 3) is set to helm the first two episodes of the series, which will be shot in IMAX and premiere in IMAX theaters on Labor Day weekend. The series will then start its eight episode run on ABC on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017. All eight episodes are expected to run on the network over consecutive Tuesdays, which means that the finale will air on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017.

Two New Dave Chappelle Stand-Up Specials Hit Netflix This Month; See The Teaser Trailer Now

For years, one of the highest bars you could clear as a comedian was to film an HBO special. But times have changed in the streaming era, and it appears that the go-to hub for A-list stand-up comedy specials is no longer HBO, but Netflix. The streaming service has locked down Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, and Louis C.K. for new specials, and last November, they also announced that they'd be releasing three new specials from comedian Dave Chappelle.

Now we know that two of those three specials — titled Deep in the Heart of Texas and The Age of Spin — will be available to watch later this month, as they're being released simultaneously on March 21, 2017. Netflix has also unveiled a teaser that takes some snippets from the show(s) and plays them over footage of the comedian frozen in place as he's seated somewhere outside.

Chappelle is one of my favorite stand-up comedians, and I can't wait to watch both of these.

Amusing Comic Pokes Holes in the Logic of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

With Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast remake quickly approaching its March 17th release date, the people over at MegaCynics take the opportunity to poke some holes in the logic of the animated classic. I've admittedly never considered this angle on the film before (I also don't think we're supposed to be thinking about the story from this particular perspective), but I thought it was interesting enough to pass along.

Amy Acker and More Join Fox's Untitled X-Men Series

0
0

The Untitled X-Men series set up at Fox is rounding out its cast. The Matt Nix-created series cast Stephen Moyer earlier this week, and now THR reports that Amy Acker, Emma Dumont, and Percy Hynes White have signed on to the show.

Of course, fans of Joss Whedon will be familiar with Acker, who had significant roles in Angel and Dollhouse and brought down the house as Beatrice in his Much Ado About Nothing. She also spent several seasons on Person of Interest. Acker will play Kate Stewart, “a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband, Reed (the aforementioned Moyer), and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she's stronger than she thinks.”

I’m sure you all remember Dumont as a ballerina/roller derby girl on Bunheads, because GeekTyrant readers were definitely among the ten people who watched that show. If you missed out on that, you probably recognize her from Pretty Little Liars. No? Weird. Anyway, she will play Lorna Dane/Polaris, “a strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant who has the ability to manipulate magnetism.”

Percy Hynes White is a literal child, but his past projects include Night at the Museum 3 and 11.22.63. He has been cast as Andy, “a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.”

I am pretty excited about the talent this series has attracted. I think it has the potential to be really great, as long as Fox doesn’t cancel it after two episodes (RIP James Wolk's “next Tom Hanks” status). In addition to Nix, Moyer, Acker, Dumont, and White, Bryan Singer is directing the pilot and producing, and the other executive producers include Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory. Jamie Chung, Blair Redford, Sean Teale, and Natalie Alyn Lind all previously joined the cast as well. In case you forgot, here’s the brief synopsis we have to go on:

The action-adventure project focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Keanu Reeves and Isla Fisher in Talks to Join a Dramedy Called THE STARLING

0
0

Hot off the success of John Wick: Chapter 2, Keanu Reeves is in talks to join a new film project that doesn't involve blowing people away with guns. Instead, he will be comedically dealing with the death of a child. Yeah, I know it doesn't sound like it should be funny, but he becomes very annoyed with a bird in the process as he builds a garden for his wife. Isla Fisher (Now You See Me) is in negotiations to play his wife in the film.

Apparently, the script for this film is supposed to be incredible. It was written by Matt Harris, and it was once on the Black List of best unproduced scripts. The theme of the story is how love can carry you through grief. This is the synopsis:

A married couple lose a child and the wife goes into a recovery place to help her with overwhelming grief, leaving the husband at home alone. To help aid in her recovery, the husband decides to build a beautiful garden for his wife in their backyard, but as he does he is tormented by an aggressive, black starling. At his wits end with the relentless nature of the bird, he goes to see a veterinarian to find out if there is a humane way to get rid of it. The vet, the husband finds out, used to be a psychiatrist but gave it up to help animals instead. However, the quirky vet begins counseling the husband in a turn that neither of them really expected.

This sounds like it will be a heavy film with a little comedic quirkiness to it. It seems like it would be hard to find the humor in losing a child. That's like my worst nightmare, but I guess it can be done.

Watch This Incredibly Awesome Animated Fantasy Action Short KAIROS Now!

I've got an absolutely stunning animated short film that you've got to see! It's called "Kairos," and it was created by Studio La Cachette. The fantasy short involves animal-like characters and the animation is insanely slick, stylish, and smooth. The imagination of its creators just explodes with awesomeness as you watch some pretty mind-blowing action sequences. Seriously, this thing is non-stop action and is just so beautifully fluid. This is an amazing piece of animation work, and I hope it blows you away in the same way it did me. It's a few years old, but it was just brought to my attention and I just had to share it with you! I really miss the greatness of hand drawn animation, especially by talented artists. Watch it!

SPOTLIGHT Director to Rewrite Disney's Live-Action CHRISTOPHER ROBIN Movie

0
0

With Beauty and the Beast set to bow in a couple of weeks, Disney is ramping up development of another of the studio's live-action remakes. Variety reports that the Mouse House has hired Tom McCarthy, who co-wrote and directed the Oscar-winning film Spotlight, to rewrite Christopher Robin, their new take on Winnie the Pooh.

Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, Stranger Than Fiction) came on board as the project's director a few months ago, when we learned that the plot sounds similar to Steven Spielberg's Hook. Here's the plot synopsis:

Robin has grown out of the joyful imagination he had as a young boy and is now a businessman who prioritizes work over his wife and daughter. With his home life on the brink, the last thing his life needs is the return of Pooh, who needs his help in finding his friends again. Robin has to find a way to help both sides or risk losing everything he holds dear.

This movie shouldn't be confused with Goodbye Christopher Robin, a separate film that stars Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie as Pooh author A.A. Milne and his wife. McCarthy seems like an offbeat choice to rewrite this material, but Disney's been making (mostly) good decisions with their live-action remakes thus far, so we'll see if this pays off for them. Either way, it looks like Winnie the Pooh is en vogue once again. Random question: Do you think he'll wear pants in this movie?

THE GREAT WALL to Lose $75 Million at Box Office

0
0

The Great Wall is projected to lose around $75 million at the box office according to THR. The Chinese film, which stars Matt Damon, was the largest film collaboration between the Hollywood and China markets, but now that relationship looks to be in doubt following the tremendous losses the film is expected to see.

The film drew around $171 million with Chinese audiences, which is considered a disappointment from their expectations and a measly $34.8 million in North America. While there is no solid explanation for the film's loss, many have speculated that casting Matt Damon to star in a foreign film created a film with no significant draw in either market. Damon isn't as big as some other choices in China, and American audiences aren't too keen on foreign films to begin with.  To sum it up, they tried to make a film for everyone, but ended up making a film for no one.

The film has also received less than favorable reviews and is in theaters alongside films that have received high ratings, like Get Out and John Wick: Chapter 2 and La La Land, so it's not going to fare any better with Americans as the weeks continue. If you want to see it in theaters you better act fast.

Description of the Surprising Teaser That Plays Before LOGAN Starts

0
0

Last night I finally got to see Logan, and it is seriously one of the best comic book films ever made. It's a masterpiece, and it makes every other comic book movie look like a silly cartoon. It was true, hardcore, gritty filmmaking, and fans finally get the Wolverine movie they've been waiting for. It was a perfect film and the perfect sendoff to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

There is no post-credits scene in the film, but there is a secret teaser that plays before the movie starts, and you're gonna love it! If you don't want to know what happens in that teaser, I suggest you stop reading now.

What fans are treated to before Logan starts is a hilariously dark short film for Deadpool reminding us that Deadpool will be back in a sequel. The short was directed by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch, and of course, Ryan Reynolds is back in the role of Deadpool. You guys are going to love the hell out of this:

It starts off with two men who get into a scuffle in an alley after an attempted mugging. Wade Wilson is walking down the street wearing his hoodie and listening to the song "Call Me Angel," which is from the opening credits of the first film.

As he walks down the street he notices the mugging and perks up, ready to leap into action as he says, "Not on my watch motherfucker!" Instead of running in to help the man being mugged, Wade runs into a nearby phone booth and the classic Superman musical score composed by John Williams starts to play.

As he's in the phone booth Wade starts to hilariously take his clothes off and change into his Deadpool suit. This is not a fast or easy task. It's not a quick Superman costume change and it doesn't go smoothly at all. As he is struggling to change in the phone booth we not only hear the Superman theme, we also hear the struggling of the two men continue in the alley for well over a minute.

The sound of the struggling ends with a gunshot. At that point that Deadpool is finally ready to leap into action, but it's obviously too late. We see Wade in his full on Deadpool costume run out of the phone booth and across the street in slow motion only to find an elderly man dead, having been shot in the stomach.

At this point, Deadpool starts running his mouth but it's nothing of comfort. Something to the effect of, "You're not going to walk that off." He talks about how gross it is and apologizes. Then ends up laying down on the ground resting his head on the man's bloody stomach and looks over to see see the man's groceries spilled out on the ground. He picks up some Ben & Jerry's ice cream and says something to the effect of not letting it go to waste and as he lays on the man he begins eating it.

The teaser ends with the text "Deadpool is coming… but not soon enough."

So that's it! Like I said it's dark but still incredibly funny. Deadpool fans are going to love it!
