After receiving 14 Academy Award nominations and seeing everyone talk about how much they loved La La Land, I'm, pretty sure that this film is a lock for the Best Picture win at the Award ceremony. 

If you're a fan of the film, then I've got a fun video for you to check out from USA Today that features a rehearsal video of the big opening musical number. The whole thing was shot on director Damien Chazelle's iPhone.

You can also see how the rehearsal footage compares to the actual footage that was shot for the film. For the record, I loved that opening scene! It perfectly set the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful film. 

Have you ever wondered what Star Wars would be like if R2-D2 talked? Like, not in a joke video or with subtitles, but what it would actually sound like if his lines were professionally voiced. Auralnauts teamed up with voice actor Scheiffer Bates and gave what I believe is the most accurate attempt at creating a cinematic voice for the popular droid. To be honest, I like it almost as much as the beeps and boops, how about you? 

Showtime has released two new promo spots for David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival, and as you'd expect, they are just as unconventional as the rest of the promos that have been released so far. They don't really plan on releasing any traditional trailers. Network president David Nevin previously said:

"I don't know whether we’re going to have a traditional trailer. You might start seeing some filmed pieces coming out but there definitely won't be trailers that give away all the big plot points as is traditional in the movie business."

The trailers below mostly feature footage from the original series. Each one comes with the tagline, "It Is Happening Again." The first one does feature footage from the upcoming series of Agent Dale Cooper. The last time we saw him, he was trapped in the Black Lodge at the end of the series, and we don't know if he ever got out.

The "Body" teaser shows footage of Laura Palmer's corpse and then cuts to the famous homecoming photo, but now it's faded and taped to a piece of cardboard somewhere. This is the one that really got me because I'm wondering why this photo is still around after all these years, who has it, and what her death has to do with the present day events. 

This has sparked quite the discussion on Reddit. One person claims you can see Laura close her eyes in the moment when she's supposedly dead. There are also fans claiming they can see the entity known as BOB trees as the wind blows at the beginning of the promo. I don't see either, but what do you see?

Here's an amusing series of comic strips by Dragonarte Comics that show that Batman is always ready for the joker in the most hilarious ways. It seems to me like Batman is the real Joker here because he's out-joking the Joker!  

Katsucon 2017 was packed full of some wicked awesome cosplay! Seriously, if you like cosplay you've got to watch these videos because they present some incredibly stunning costume work. The videos come from Distractotron, and there's a good amount of stuff that is going to impress you. Enjoy!

I've always enjoyed the insane claymation short films of Lee Hardcastle. He's made a good amount of these shorts over the years, and they are always crazy and violent. He was commissioned to make a claymation short film for James Gunn and Greg McLean's upcoming film The Belko Experiment, and it's super bloody and violent! If you are sensitive to claymation people, then I suggest you don't watch because they die in all kinds of horrible ways. Enjoy!

I'm sorry to report that actor Bill Paxton has passed away at the age of 61. This was some seriously sad news that I didn't expect to wake up to, and when I first saw it it felt like a punch to the gut. Bill Paxton has been a favorite actor of mine for years! Ever since I first saw him up on the big screen in James Cameron's Aliens.

People Magazine confirmed the news of Paxton's passing. He died after complications from surgery. A representative for his family released a statement asking for privacy and saying:

“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery. A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.”

It's never fun reporting this kind of news, but I've enjoyed all the entertainment Paxton has given us over the years. Some of my favorite projects of his included Weird Science, Aliens, Tombstone, True Lies, Apollo 13, Twister, A Simple Plan, Frailty, U-571, Big Love, and Edge of Tomorrow. He's done a ton of other work as well.

Paxton leaves behind an incredible legacy of film and TV projects, and he's going to to be missed. It is so strange to think that we won't see any more films with Bill Paxton. Damn. He was also just such a great guy in general! I've been a few Q&A's he was involved with over the years and he just came off as being such a fun guy!

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends. 

If you're a hardcore Futurama fan, you'll be happy to learn that it's making a comeback in the form of a mobile game! The best part is, the game is being developed in collaboration with many of the show’s original writers, cast, and animators.

The game will be called Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow and will feature new original content from creator and executive producer Matt Groening, executive producer David X. Cohen, and many of the other team members behind the TV classic animated series.

The game itself is being developed by Jam City’s TinyCo division. They will be working alongside Rough Draft Studios, who are the original animators of Futurama, ensuring that the humor and style of the original series will be intact with the game. When talking about the project, Groening said:

"I love this game because it feels just like ‘Futurama.’ Except now you get to jab the characters in the face. Futurama’ is back, bigger and better than ever! Or possibly smaller and equally good. But either way, it’s back!"

This sounds like it could turn out to be a lot of fun! According to Variety, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow will eventually be available in Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore. You can pre-register to get notifications about the game at YouWillPlayFuturama.com. 

In another video essay from Couch Tomato, we learn 24 reasons why the John Wick and The Equalizer at the same movie. Both of the films are both action-packed thrillers, and Keanu Reeves and Denzel Washington both play incredibly badass characters in their own ways, but this video goes beyond that and breaks down the similar plot points and story elements. Check it out!

Check out Hot Toys' feisty Rocket Raccoon 1/6th scale action figure from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Check out these amazing photos of the cars from Mad Max: Fury Road by photographer John Platt. They come from the mind of George Miller and were brought to life by Production Designer Colin Gibson. These badass vehicles from a world gone mad are works of art, and they belong in a museum! You know... the ones that survived filming. Platt had the good fortune to shoot these before production began.

"Prior to the start of shooting 'Mad Max Fury Road' in Namibia, South West Africa I was commissioned to shoot these vehicles. Seventy five vehicles in three weeks. Trucks, cars and bikes including the incredible details that made each of them a work of art."

The details he captured are, indeed, incredible. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of Furiosa's War Rig. Be sure to check out the rest of the gallery and his work here and here. 

Netflix debuted the first trailer for Will Smith's upcoming fantasy cop thriller Bright, and this movie looks so cool! It comes from director David Ayer, who most recently directed Smith in DC Entertainment's Suicide Squad.

The film also stars Joel Edgerton (Warrior) and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and is set in a fantasy world where mystical creatures live side by side with humans. The story revolves around a human cop (Smith) who is forced to partner up with an Orc (Edgerton) and "their ordinary beat takes a decidedly unordinary turn when they wind up coming into the possession of a massively powerful (and highly illegal) weapon: a magic wand." There's also an elf into who came to have the wand, and she comes under the protection of the two cops as the wand is being hunted down by evil villains. 

I love that shot of Smith in his cop uniform holding a medieval fantasy broadsword. Unfortunately, we have to wait until freakin' December before we see it! Not sure why they released a trailer so damn early, but I am excited about it! 

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty stoked about Netflix's upcoming animated series Castlevania. The project is being developed by Adi Shankar (Dredd) and Fred Seibert (Fairly OddParents, Adventure Time), and we know it's going to be a dark, hardcore, and violent take on the classic video game franchise. 

Thanks to Shankar, we have official poster art to share with you that was released for the series. It offers us our first look at Dracula's castle, and if you're a fan of the game it should definitely get you excited. I love the design! 

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

The first season of the series will drop later this year. 

This adorable 5-year-old girl named Penny is sporting an incredibly cool Wonder Woman costume, and what makes it pop with awesomeness is the invisible jet made out of balloons! Luckily for Penny, her dad, Marty Pants, is a balloonist who goes by the name "Smarty Pants." When talking to io9 about the creation of the invisible jet, he said:

“She wanted to dress up as Wonder Woman and I said off-hand, ‘Why don’t I make you an invisible jet out of balloons?’ not realizing that with a 5-year-old, nothing is an off-hand joke. So of course I had to make it.”

It turned out great! It's got the be the best Wonder Woman cosplay jet I've ever seen. Most Wonder Woman cosplayers joke about using your imagination to see it, but this is a lot better, and it actually took some effort to create. The photos you see here were taken at the Milwaukee Comic Con earlier this month.

Last week we got the exciting and surprising announcement that The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay will helm a solo Nightwing movie for DC Entertainment. 

As a huge fan of how The LEGO Batman Movie turned out, I couldn't be more excited that he's taking on the challenge of developing Nightwing. I'm confident that the guy is going to give us something great!

McKay recently was a guest on the Shanlian on Batman podcast, and when he was talking to them he revealed why he likes the idea of making a movie about Nightwing. He seems pretty excited about it! He said:

“Bruce Wayne in my mind came from privilege and I think that’s why he’s more dour and angry. He’s self-made as far as his becoming all of these cool things we like him for… Dick Grayson didn’t come from that. Dick Grayson came from a circus family. Essentially people who aren’t rich and they are self-made. They’re entertainers. They’re gymnasts. They’re people who live hand-to-mouth and that’s something that informs him and his attitude… he’s a fascinating guy to me, because he had all the same things happen to him. He’s got some of the same negatives as Bruce Wayne and then from a society standpoint — obviously he was adopted into Bruce Wayne’s life… but he didn’t start that way. He’s this guy who has all these negatives and then even more negatives and yet he remains… Those are things why I like Dick Grayson, why I like the idea of Nightwing as a movie.”

As many of you already know, Grayson spent many years fighting alongside Batman as his sidekick Robin. He eventually felt like he needed to leave the nest and became the hero Nightwing.

McKay already got to play around with the character a bit in The LEGO Batman Movie. It was great, but this film is going to be a whole new vision of the character that is going to have to fit in with the current DCEU.

The Nightwing movie joins a growing roster of DCEU films that include the upcoming Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps., The Flash, and Shazam.

Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Axel Alenso recently shared an image on Twitter showing two scientists working on a hybrid creature that mashes together The Incredible Hulk and Wolverine. It’s called “Batch H.” As you can see, the Hulk figure has adamantium claws coming out of his hands! This thing is going to be ferociously deadly! The image came with the following caption:

“Under Construction”

This wouldn’t be the first time scientists have massed around with Wolverine’s DNA. Remember, that how X-23 came to be. I also believe that Wolverine transformed himself into a Hulk character in the Secret Wars spinoff miniseries Civil War, but it wasn’t like this. This new combination of Wolverine and the Hulk is a completely different beast! 

There’s no information on how this will fit in with the current continuity of the Marvel Comics Universe, especially because the Logan version of Wolverine is dead and Bruce Banner cured himself of Hulking out. While we wait to see how this all comes about and what this actually means, speculate away in the comments below!

Disney has released a new trailer for Pixar's Cars 3 in which we see Lightning McQueen face his greatest challenge yet when he gets into a major accident. This accident will change him forever, but it sets him on a journey to make a major comeback,. In the process, he'll be going up against more speed, more horsepower, and more of everything with the next generation of race cars he'll face. 

Cars 3 actually looks like it could be a decent movie. I've never been a big fan of the Cars franchise, but this could end up being the best film in the series. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it, and I've never said that about a Cars movie before.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn't through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage!

Cars 3 will race into theaters on June 16, 2017.
