Unlikely Co-Stars Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron to Headline a New Comedy Called FLARSKY

$

When I think of comedic co-stars, Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron don't exactly pop to mind quickly. Sure, each one of them work well separately (Rogen's bona fides speak for themselves, but don't sleep on Theron in Young Adult or Arrested Development), but together? We're about to find out how that goes down, since the two will soon appear in a new movie from 50/50 director Jonathan Levine called Flarsky.

Deadline reports that the movie "centers on an unemployed journalist (Rogen), battered by his own misfortune and self-destructive ways, who endeavors to pursue his childhood crush and babysitter who now happens to be one of the most powerful and unattainable women on Earth (Theron)." This sounds like it might actually be pretty good. From the logline, it seems as if the two stars are leaning into the types of characters they've played before, and I'm confident Levine is a talented enough guy to bring this home in a satisfying way. Dan Sterling (The Interview) is writing the script, but there's no word yet on a start date or any other talent involved. We'll keep you posted when we hear more.

Adult Swim of All Places Won't Allow a Dog's Butthole on SAMURAI JACK Season 5

If you've ever watched any of the shows on Adult Swim, you know that there's really been no filter on what they will show or do. The series' are hilariously irreverent and that's why a lot of fans tune in to watch them. However, they draw the line at showing a dog's butthole.

The fifth and final season of Samurai Jack promises to be crazy, dark, and incredibly violent, but showing a dog's butthole is too much. In an interview with IGN, creator Genndy Tartakovsky talked about the upcoming series and revealed:

“We drew a dog’s butt. Just like a circle, little asterisks, very innocent, we didn’t think anything of it. We got it back, they’re like, ‘No dog anuses on Adult Swim.'"

That's hilarious! Look, I don't have a problem with the fact that there won't be any dog buttholes in Samurai Jack; I couldn't care less. I just think it's funny that Adult Swim is anti-dog butthole. It's not like every person in the world that has ever owned a dog isn't forced to look at the dog's butt when taking it for a walk to take a shit. I would have never thought they would draw the line at dog buttholes. but they did.

Hell, they have an animated show called Mr. Pickles, that is about a demonic dog that tortures, kills, mutilates, and humps his victims. That's totally ok! But they won't show the butthole of a dog, ummm... ok. I think they need to take a look at their censorship guidelines.

DEADPOOL 2: Will Patrick Stewart's Professor X Meet Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth?

Time for some good old-fashioned speculation, folks.

Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman were answering some Logan fan questions on Twitter, and this happened:

Do you think the "announcement" Jackman thought Stewart was going to make is that Professor Xavier will appear in Deadpool 2? Again, this is pure speculation, but such a thing would certainly be possible. While Jackman is apparently hanging up his claws after Logan, Stewart himself has said he's not done playing Charles quite yet. Considering Xavier is in pretty bad shape during Logan, which takes place in 2029, that would mean he'd likely reprise the role in a movie set during before that point on the timeline. Deadpool 2 seems like a good opportunity for him to insert his dry wit opposite Ryan Reynolds' hyperactive one-liners, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up there.

What do you think?

Kid Gets Stung by 400 Bees Trying to Be Like Vegeta in DRAGON BALL Z

When young Andrew awoke a hive of bees after shooting a BB gun at a junk car near his home in Arizona, he did the only thing he could. Channeling the Saiyan Prince Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z, he initiated "Full Force Power," which looks like this:

And Andrew learned, as I'm sure many young kids soon learn, humans can't perform Saiyan powers. Luckily, Andrew survived the encounter and gave this amazing interview after the event.

That kid is tough as nails if he stood there in the midst of 400 bees and balls out started yelling like Vegeta. In my mind, he's just as awesome.

Channing Tatum's GAMBIT Movie Is Still in "Active Development" and Simon Kinberg Hopes Filming Will Start Next Year

Simon Kinberg, a longtime writer/producer on the X-Men movies, may end up making his directorial debut with X-Men: Supernova, but in the meantime, he's provided ComicBook.com with a new update about the Gambit movie. The film has been in development for years now, and it's had multiple directors flirting with the project before the producers finally secured Edge of Tomorrow helmer Doug Liman (who, frankly, may or may not still be involved). Here's the latest, according to Kinberg:

"It's in active development. It's a movie that we hope will be ready to go by the end of this year and shoot next year. We have two or three X-Men related movies this year so it can wait for a moment. The process has been that Channing [Tatum] is as determined about getting the character right as Ryan Reynolds was about Deadpool and Hugh [Jackman] was about this Logan movie. We know that when we get those right, the movie succeeds so we want to make sure we get Gambit right because we want him to be the beginning of a whole new franchise."

I think I've said this before, but it's nice to hear that Tatum and the rest of the filmmakers are passionate about this story and aren't just going ahead with it to hit a pre-announced release date. Hopefully it pays off and fans are treated to an awesome Gambit movie...even if it might be a couple of more years before we see it. With Hugh Jackman now done as Wolverine and the X-Men franchise essentially up for grabs following Apocalypse, Fox is trying to replant its roots in the X-verse, and we'll see how they go about doing that over the next few years.

You Can Buy a JURASSIC PARK T-Rex Bust Made From the Film's Original Molds

How much do you love Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park? Enough to drop some cash on a mounted bust of the film's biggest, baddest, coolest antihero, the Tyrannosaurus Rex? Chronicle Collectibles (via io9) has opened pre-orders for a 19'' bust that's roughly 16'' in diameter, and putting this thing on your wall will add some serious geek cred to your home.

The coolest part of this bust is that it was created using the molds from the original film that were created by Stan Winston Studios. It was also painted by Steve Riojas, whom the site describes as "one of the best dinosaur painters in the industry." That may be one of the most specific niche professions I've ever heard of, but it looks like he did a killer job matching the look of the bust with the dino we know from the movie.

Now the bad news: this baby will set you back $650. Take a cue from John Hammond: "spare no expense" and pre-order it here.

Watch: Kermit the Frog Stars in LA LA LAND Parody Trailer From Funny or Die

Let's be real for a second: love it or hate it, we should all be prepared for the fact that La La Land is going to win all the Oscars this weekend. In addition to being a legitimately great movie with a knockout ending, it also happens to be the kind of movie that hits the sweet spot for many Oscar voters, and the fact that it's an old-fashioned, musical, throwback romance about Hollywood is just icing on the cake.

Now Funny or Die has put together a nice parody featuring Kermit the Frog, and considering many of the Muppet movies involve Kermit interacting in some way with the entertainment industry, there was a lot of material to choose from here that fit perfectly with this mashup. Enjoy:

Patrick Stewart Announces He's Retiring as Professor X After LOGAN

Well, it looks like Hugh Jackman isn't the only one retiring from the X-Men franchise after Logan. After teasing that he might be in Deadpool 2, Patrick Stewart has announced that Logan will be the last time we see him in the role of Professor X. That's a sad piece of news to start the weekend off with!

Stewart has said a few times that he wasn't really done with playing Xavier yet, but he felt that Logan was so good and so powerful that it changed his mind. The movie was so good, it made him not want to reprise the role again. He made the announcement during a Sirius XM Town Hall explaining:

“I was so moved by it, much more moved than I had been the first time of seeing it… [After the screening,] we were going to be taken up on stage, but not until the credits were over. We had some time to sit there and, as I sat there, I realized there will never be a better, a more perfect, a more sensitive, emotional, and beautiful way of saying au revoir to Charles Xavier than this movie. So, I told [Hugh] that same evening, ‘I’m done too. It’s all over.'”

Damn. I won't lie, I got a little emotional when I saw this news and read what Stewart had to say. It seems like Logan is going to be the ultimate X-Men film that will put all others to shame.

Like with Jackman, at least Stewart is ending his time in the X-Men franchise on top, with a great movie. Stewart is definitely going to be missed in the role, but he sure did have an awesome run as Professor Xavier! He was always one of the best parts of the franchise.

Adult Swim released a great video that features three hilarious skits from Robot Chicken inspired by the classic film The Karate Kid. I love seeing Robot Chicken take the films, TV shows, and other things that I grew up with and create stop-motion parody skits out of them. This is one of those shows that consistently has me laughing out loud.

Amusing Comic Strip Highlights the Differences of Marvel Comics Vs. Marvel Movies

Dorkly released a fun comic strip created by George Rottkamp and Tristan Cooper that amusingly highlights some of the differences between the actual Marvel Comics versus the Marvel movies that those comics inspired. The comic pretty much nails it.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has succeeded in large part because of how well the movies crib from their source material. By picking and choosing what to adapt from the comics, the movies sidestep decades of iffy continuity and have been able to forge the most successful movie franchise well, ever. But that's not to say that the comic books don't still have their own charms, they're just... different charms. But also kind of the same?

We've already seen some awesome footwear from Po-Zu inspired by what the main characters wore in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We've already posted the shoes they made inspired by Rey and Poe Dameron, now they've revealed their line of Finn boots. Here are the details:

Storming in to join Rey, Chewbacca and the Resistance, meet FINN – our next AW17 Star Wars I Po-Zu boot to be revealed – in three colourways…
Inspired by Finn’s boots, as featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Finn Boot will be available for sale to the general public from August 2017 in both featured versions: In White (as worn by Stormtrooper FN-2187), in Distressed Metallic Bronze Leather (as worn by Finn), as well as in Classic Black.
Core features include protective padding, a concealed inside zip, a removable memory-foam Foot-Mattress (allows orthotics placement) in latex and cork, and a high performance grip natural rubber cup sole.

The boots will be released sometime in August, and there will be more shoe designs coming from Po-Zu, so stay tuned! These new boots are pretty slick-looking, but my favorite design are still Poe's.

Watch Adam Savage Build Chewbacca's Bandolier in One Day Build

Adam Savage is back at it again with another "One Day Build"! This time he takes us through the process of building Chewbacca's bandolier from Star Wars. The bandolier is the belt that Chewy wore around his shoulder across his torso. It's normally worn by military or paramilitary forces as well as mercenaries and others who needed large stores of ammunition, grenades, and other supplies.

Time for some Star Wars prop building--Adam Savage makes an upgrade to one of his favorite costumes! Adam's never been satisfied with the original bandolier strap and satchel he made for his Chewbacca cosplay, so today he fabricates new ones from scratch with metal and leather. And of course Adam hides an easter egg into this Wookiee prop!

I always enjoy watching Savage build things like this. I hope he gets another weekly TV show sometime in the near future of him building stuff because I could watch that all day!

Two IMAX posters have been released for Scarlett Johansson's great looking live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. The first features The Major smashing through a window on an assassination mission, while the other gives us a close-up look at that creepy robotic Geisha. Both have been featured heavily in the trailers for the film. Speaking of which, you can watch the most recent trailer right here! This looks like it's going to be a great adaptation, and I'm incredibly pumped up about seeing it!

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, GHOST IN THE SHELL follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic¹s advancements in cyber technology.

Ghost in the Shell also stars Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Michael Wincott, and Pilou Asbæk. It's set to be released in theaters on March 31, 2017.

LEGION and FARGO's Noah Hawley Will Direct Reese Witherspoon in PALE BLUE DOT

$

You can see the moment in your heads: a landing pod breaks through the Earth's atmosphere, splashes down in the water, and the astronauts inside joyously reunite with their loved ones in glorious slow motion. But what happens after that part, when you've spent years in the relentless void of space and have to integrate back into normal society? That's the central dilemma of a film called Pale Blue Dot, which will star Reese Witherspoon as a married astronaut who begins an affair with one of her space colleagues and starts to lose composure when she returns to Earth and loses her connection to her family.

Witherspoon has been attached to star in this movie since 2015, and now we know who will direct it: Noah Hawley, the creator of FX's Fargo who is now enjoying success with that network's X-Men adjacent show Legion. He's been involved in movies before — he's part of the writer's room for Universal's upcoming Monsterverse entries — but this will mark his first time directing on the film side.

Deadline brings the news, which also includes word that this will be the first in a two picture deal with Fox Searchlight. The second movie will be Buried Bodies, a drama about the infamous Lake Pleasant Bodies Case from the mid-1970s.

Attorneys Frank Armani and Francis Belge faced the ethical dilemma of upholding attorney-client privilege after their client, accused murderer Robert Garrow, revealed to them the location of the bodies of two additional missing girls. The lawyers verified the findings, but did not report them to police, even though one of the lawyers had a daughter who was a classmate of sisters of one of the murdered girls. The lawyers only divulged information after the killer escaped prison and threatened one of the attorneys. The pair was reviled by the families of the victims and ostracized by the community for their agonizing commitment to their oath.

That sounds like a perfect Hawley project: something grounded in reality, but with a fascinating, complex human angle to explore. I'll be first in line because I think that guy is a genius storyteller, and I'm hoping he breaks out in a big way in the movies.

If you're a hardcore Futurama fan, you'll be happy to learn that it's making a comeback in the form of a mobile game! The best part is, the game is being developed in collaboration with many of the show’s original writers, cast, and animators.

The game itself is being developed by Jam City’s TinyCo division. They will be working alongside Rough Draft Studios, who are the original animators of Futurama, ensuring that the humor and style of the original series will be intact with the game. When talking about the project, Groening said:

"I love this game because it feels just like ‘Futurama.’ Except now you get to jab the characters in the face. Futurama’ is back, bigger and better than ever! Or possibly smaller and equally good. But either way, it’s back!"

This sounds like it could turn out to be a lot of fun! According to VarietyFuturama: Worlds of Tomorrow will eventually be available in Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore. You can pre-register to get notifications about the game at YouWillPlayFuturama.com
