PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES Takes to the High Seas with 3 New Posters

It'll be interesting to see how Disney weathers the storm of Johnny Depp's recent terrible publicity over the next few months, since the studio certainly hopes that despite the allegations of domestic abuse against the actor, he still manages to pull in a big audience for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Let's get real for a second: no one wants this movie, do they? Are we really still doing this whole Pirates thing? It had its moment, and now it's over. Dragging it back out and trying to breathe new life into it seems borderline cruel and unusual, and it's not like the studio is desperate for hits. They already have Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Pixar, for God's sake! My hope is that this is the last entry in this franchise, because if they try to hand the torch to Blandy McBlandface (Brenton Thwaits) there, it's going to get ugly.

Anyway, Trends International (via ComingSoon) points us to three new posters for the movie, including one which clearly Photoshopped the same photo of Depp's head onto a different body.

Keanu Reeves Offers Up a Perfectly Awesome Idea for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3

$

I loved John Wick: Chapter 2! I thought it was even better than the first film and it ended on such a great note that perfectly set it up for Chapter 3. In a recent interview with the Empire podcast, Keanu Reeves shared his idea for the next chapter of John Wick's story, and it's awesome!

If you haven't seen John Wick: Chapter 2 yet, then I suggest you don't read ahead because I talk about the end of the film. If you have seen the movie, then read on!

At the end of John Wick: Chapter 2 our hero was declared "excommunicado" and cut off from all of the helpful resources that he used to help accomplish his tasks and missions. These underworld services were all provided by a mysterious society that included the Continental hotel, Aurelio's chop shop, and the places he gets his suits and guns. To make things even worse, there's a $14 million contract on his head. He's given one hour before the hit goes into effect, and everyone in New York is just waiting to take him out. That's where the movie left off. Here's how Reeves says the next film should pick up!

I think the opening of the film should be Wick just trying to escape from New York. Literally trying to get off the island. Maybe he asks [Lawrence Fisburne's character] the Bowery King for help. Maybe John Leguizamo comes and helps me out. 'John, I can't do it, you're excommunicado!' Maybe the High Table shows up. And then the High Table starts firing guns. And then maybe this kind of thing starts to happen between the High Table and Continental? Maybe John is the activator of this confrontation, and perhaps there's a war? Wouldn't that be awesome?!

This isn't an official plan for now, but it totally should be! It's the perfect place for John Wick: Chapter 3 to pick up, and it could lead to another great action-packed story of badassery! As Reeves says, this could open up some great new story elements. A war between the Continental and the High Table sounds like an intriguing plot point.

What do you all think of Reeves' idea for the next John Wick flick?

Watch Josh Gad, Penelope Cruz, Chris Pratt, and More Try to Break Daisy Ridley for STAR WARS Secrets

Josh Gad was unsuccessful in his last attempt to squeeze some details on Star Wars: The Last Jedi out of Daisy Ridley, so he enlisted some help. Penelope Cruz, Chris Pratt, and many other actors appear in Gad's trailer for a Q&A that's pretty damn funny! It even ends with a surprise guest who I'm sure is just as tired of being pestered for Star Wars secrets as the rest of the actors are. Check it out below.

This has been a battle of attrition. #daisyridley has been a force to be reckoned with. In many ways she is the Vader to my Luke or the Taylor to my Katy. But like any good opponent, I have tried to outmaneuver her at every turn. This will be her final judgement. May the force be with her, because kids, she is going to need it. All I ask is that you don't ruin the surprise for others. #TheLastJedi #starwars #broughtsomefriendsalongfortheride @disney @starwars @penelopecruzoficial @prattprattpratt @brycedhoward @colintrevorrow @leslieodomjr @lucyboynton1 @brycedhoward @derek.connolly #tombateman @jjabramsofficial

Ice Cube Goes Undercover Online and Amusingly Answers Internet Questions

I haven't exactly heard great things about Fist Fight, but I'll wait to see it myself before I make my mind up about it. One of its stars, Ice Cube, hooked up with GQ to promote the film in an unusual way: he created accounts on sites like Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Yahoo Answers, and IMDb and commented on fan statements about him. Of course, he puts his own unique Ice Cube spin on every one of them, and along the way, he reveals some cool trivia about himself, including how he got his name and the real circumstances behind his first rap song. He also teases the possibility of another Friday movie. Check it out.

Hulu Reveals New Details About Stephen King and J.J. Abrams' CASTLE ROCK and Orders 10 Episodes

Castle Rock has shot to the top of my list of most anticipated TV projects. Last week the J.J. Abrams and Stephen King series was announced and a teaser trailer was released, which you can watch here.

I was intrigued by the concept and what the teaser had to offer. Now today, Hulu has announced that they've ordered 10 episodes of the series that will weave together several characters and themes from the classic stories that King has told over the years involving his Castle Rock setting.

The also released some additional information on the series, describing it as "a psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse."

Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

After seeing what Abrams and King did with the Hulu series 11.22.63, I have no doubt that Castle Rock is going to be full of epic storytelling. In case you're wondering how the whole Stephen King multiverse works, here's a handy flow chart that connects all the dots for you that we posted a few years ago.

It'll be interesting to see how this anthology series comes together and how all of the stories and characters will end up connecting with each other. I'm so pumped up for this series!!!

Cool New Featurette for Marvel's IRON FIST Explores the Hero, Plus a New Motion Poster

Marvel has released a new featurette for their upcoming Netflix series Iron Fist and it puts the focus on Danny Rand. The video includes an interview with Finn Jones as he talks about his character and features new footage from the series. It explores what sets this hero apart from the rest of the heroes in the MCU.

This is such a cool character and I love what I've seen from the upcoming series so far. I've noticed the excitement among fans for the series isn't as high as Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones, but for me, it looks like it could be one of the most exciting. Maybe that's because I'm a martial arts fans. I don't know, but I'm excited!

In Marvel’s Iron Fist, billionaire Danny Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

The rest of the cast includes Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum. Some of the supporting cast also include Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

Iron Fist premieres on Netflix on March 17th!

Kyle Chandler Will Play Millie Bobby Brown's Dad in GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS

Friday Night Lights and Bloodline star Kyle Chandler has joined the cast of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. According to Variety, he will be taking on the role of Millie Bobby Brown's (Stranger Things) character.

I'm a big fan of Chandler's work. This wouldn't be his first big monster movie either. I don't know if you remember or not, but he also co-starred in Peter Jackson's King Kong. He most recently co-starred in the heavy drama Manchester By The Sea. He's currently working on the third and final season of the Netflix series Bloodline.

There are no details yet on what the story for Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be, but it leads up to a fight against King Kong! Krampus and Trick 'r Treat writer and director Michael Dougherty is helming the project from a script he wrote with Zach Shields.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen starred in the 2014 Godzilla reboot, and they are not expected to return for the sequel. The only person from that movie said to be returning is Ken Watanabe.

Godzilla: King of Monsters is set to be released on March 22, 2019 with Godzilla vs. Kong slated to hit theaters the following year on May 29, 2020.

This is the first photo from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant that features the entire main cast of the film. That includes our first look at James Franco as a character named Branson, who is the captain of the Covenant and husband of Katherine Waterson’s Daniels.

The photo also includes the rest of the cast including Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise.  The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.  When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Alien: Covenant will be released in theaters on May 19th. I hope it's as good as it looks. To catch up on all of our previously released news on the film, click here.

Tom Hiddleston Says THOR: RAGNAROK Will Feature the Funniest Depiction of Thor Yet

We've heard that Thor: Ragnarok is going to tell one of Marvel's darkest stories yet, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to get some fun comedy out of it! After all, the movie is being directed by Taika Waititi, who is a hilarious!

Well, it seems that humor has definitely rubbed off on Chris Hemsworth's Thor. According to Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the film, Thor: Ragnarok will feature the funniest depiction that we've seen of Thor in the MCU yet! He tells Fandango:

"Taika Waititi is such a spirited, hilarious individual, and he and Chris [Hemsworth] became very fast friends, and what was great for me was to see their friendship kind of blossom and they brought out the best in each other and started making stuff up. I can confidently say this will be the funniest depiction of the character of Thor that you've ever seen. I personally have known for almost 10 years that Chris Hemsworth is hilarious. I think this go-round will be his chance."

There's been a lot of Thor humor through the course of the film in the MCU. Marvel and their creative team have always tried to bring a fun element to the character to bring laughs, and it's cool to learn the best and funniest stuff is yet to come. We've gotten a little taste of that new humor thanks to the shorts that have been released involving Thor and his roommate Darryl that you can watch here and here. As soon as I learned Waititi was going to direct this movie, I knew it was going give us something entertaining.

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok arrives in theaters on November 3, 2017.

RESIDENT EVIL 6 Leon S. Kennedy Action Figure Review - Sideshow Collectibles

I'm a huge fan of the Resident Evil video game franchise. I've played every game they've made and it is aways a fun and entertaining experience. Needless to say, I was incredibly stoked when Sideshow Collectibles sent me their 1/6th scale collectible action figure of franchise character Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil 6!

They did an incredible job bringing this video game character to life. Most of what we've reviewed for Sideshow has been Star Wars and superheroes based on the appearance of actors. What's so cool about this character is that it comes from the design of a video game and it's awesomely brought to life in a physical form.

The other thing that's different about this is that he's not wearing any kind of superhero costume. He's just dressed in regular clothes that includes a couple of shirts, a black leather jacket, some pants, and boots. Now, just because these are just regular clothes doesn't mean Hot Toys is going to skimp out on the fine details of them because they don't. They made an incredible figure and the detail — especially on the leather jacket — is superb.

The Leon figure comes complete with a pistol, two wing shooters, a sniper rifle, a shotgun, and of course, a freakin' Rocket Launcher! It's the kind of arsenal that John Wick would be proud of.

Below you'll find a series of photos that I took of the figure. I had a little fun playing around with the lighting of it in the dark to give it that classic Resident Evil horror vibe. I also did a Facebook live video review of it during a dark and stormy night. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out very well because the video was glitching due to a new app I was trying out.

If you're a Resident Evil fan then this is a figure you've got to try and get your hands on., You can get on a waiting list for it here.

X-MEN Franchise Writer and Producer Simon Kinberg in Talks to Direct the Next X-MEN Film

Fan Art: Boss Logic

There are currently two X-Men film projects about to go into production, the supposedly titled X-Men: Supernova and New Mutants, which are both gearing up to start shooting soon. New Mutants is being directed by Josh Boone, but Supernova has yet to find a director. It looks like that's all about to change.

X-Men: Supernova is said to focus on the Dark Pheonix saga and is supposed to start shooting sometime this year, most likely in May as previously rumored. Bryan Singer is not directing this film, and according to Collider, the studio is currently in talks with X-Men franchise writer and producer Simon Kinberg to helm the project.

If Kinberg lands the gig, this would make for his directorial debut. He's already written the screenplay for the film, so he knows exactly what he wants to see from the film. As of right now, nothing is official. The report says that the film "does focus on the Dark Phoenix storyline and it’s now up to the studio if they’ll use his script and if he’ll get to direct it."

Sophie Turner is expected to reprise the role of Jean Grey, and I'm sure we'll see a few other familiar faces who appeared in X-Men: Apocalypse. We previously heard that the studio was treating this film as a light reboot, so we aren't really sure who will officially be showing up in this next X-Men film, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I have no idea if Kinberg will make a good director, but he's certainly familiar with all the characters. The Dark Phoenix storyline could make for incredible movie, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out if this is the direction Fox ends up taking the next X-Men project.

Aaron Paul Is Getting Into the Empire Business as Jack Daniel in WGN's BLOOD AND WHISKEY

I don't watch anything on WGN America, but I was channel surfing the other day and landed on that channel and within the span of about thirty seconds, I saw multiple characters having sex on screen and a guy get both of his eyes stabbed out of his head. I won't ruin what show that was in case it would spoil anything, but the point is: WGN America is apparently pretty intense.

And maybe that intensity will carry over to a new show they're developing. THR reports that Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul has been cast as whiskey impresario Jack Daniel in a new series called Blood and Whiskey.

Based on Peter Krass' biography Blood and Whiskey: The Life and Times of Jack Daniel, the drama tells the harrowing true tale of Jack Daniel, boy distiller, teenage moonshiner and the outlaw who built the world’s biggest whiskey empire out of the ashes of the Civil War.

Paul, who currently stars on Hulu's The Path, will executive produce and star in the series. Andrew Colville (Mad Men, Lone Star) will write the script and exec produce. No studio is attached to the show at the moment, but considering Paul's involvement, I imagine it won't be long before someone decides to jump on board. We'll keep you posted as this one moves through development, but I think it has some promise and could be a nice platform for Paul to show off some more of his skills.

Shane Black's THE PREDATOR Enlists GAME OF THRONES Star Alfie Allen

$

It's only been a couple of days since The Predator co-writer/director Shane Black revealed the first photo of his cast suited up and ready to fight the alien badass(es), but there's already a new kid in school: Alfie Allen, who you'll know as Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones or that idiot who killed John Wick's dog in John Wick.

THR says Allen "will play an ex-Marine who teams with several other outsiders, including one played by [Logan star Boyd] Holbrook, to stop the human-hunting creatures in a setting that hasn’t yet been seen in a Predator movie: suburbia."

As far as I can tell, there's been a little controversy about whether the movie will actually take place in suburbia, so either THR's sources are outdated or the controversy has been resolved and the movie is now definitively set in that location. We'll have to wait and see, but regardless, Allen (who seems a little scrawny for a soldier...but what do I know) joins a talented cast that includes Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, and Olivia Munn.

Filming for The Predator is underway, and it's set for release on February 9, 2018.

John Hillcoat Will Direct an Episode of BLACK MIRROR Season 4

$
0
0

According to The Tracking Board, Netflix has tapped John Hillcoat to direct an episode of the upcoming fourth season of Charlie Brooker's tech-horror series Black Mirror. Hillcoat, who directed The Proposition, The Road, Lawless, and Triple 9, is the latest high-profile director to get behind the camera for this series, following people like Joe Wright (Pan) and Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) last season.

Hillcoat's episode will be titled "Crocodile," and although no one knows what it will be about yet, word is that it'll center on two female characters and actress Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Oblivion) is mulling an offer for one of those roles.

In any case, Hillcoat can handle big action set-pieces and totally bleak storytelling with the best of them, so it seems like he'd be a great fit for this great-but-often-extremely-depressing show. We'll keep you posted with more info when we get it.

Netflix is bringing back the classic series Mystery Science Theater 3000! I enjoyed the hell out of the series, and I couldn't be happier that it's coming back to provide us geeks with more fun and hilarious entertainment!

The first photo of the new cast has been released, and I think fans will be happy with who has been brought on board. On top of the 'Bots there's creator Joel HodgsonJonah Ray in his yellow Gizmonics jumpsuit, Felicia Day as Kinga Forrester, who is the daughter of the original mad scientist Clayton Forrester, then there's Patton Oswalt as the Son of TV’s Frank, Hampton Yount, and Baron Vaughn.

Netflix picked up 14 episodes of the series, which was crowdfunded on Kickstarter. They raised $5.7 million during their funding process. It was also announced that the series will premiere on Netflix on Friday, April 14th! Fan won't have to wait much longer to enjoy what this series has to offer.

I'm excited for this! It's awesome that this series is actually making a comeback. There's a great new crew, and I can't wait to see how this revival turns out! Hopefully, it recaptures that awesome magic that we all loved about the original run of the series.
