This year Star Wars: A New Hope turns 40 freakin' years old. To celebrate, Hasbro is releasing a line of Star Wars Black Series action figures that pay tribute to the classic Kenner era of Star Wars toys.
The action figures were revealed at New York Toy Fair this past weekend, and not only do the figures pay homage to the Kenner figures, but so does the packaging they come in. There are 12 figures in the collection, and I have to own them all!
The first wave of figures that will be released this spring includes Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and R2-D2. They will cost about $20 each. They will later be joined by Chewbacca, C-3PO, the Death Squad Commander, a Tusken Raider, a Jawa, Darth Vader, and a stormtrooper.
In case you didn't know, these 12 characters are the very first figures that Kenner ever released in the very first line of 3.75" Star Wars toys.
According to io9, Hasbro will be offering a special version of Darth Vader for $40. This is described at the ultimate homage:
A recreation of the infamous Kenner Early Bird Certificate set, the empty cardboard box Kenner sold in Christmas 1977 to meet the furious demand for Star Wars toys after the movie’s surprise success. The original Early Bird certificate granted purchasers a voucher for figures of Luke, Leia, R2, and Chewie when they released in early 1978, and had a special cardboard display set to display the first 12 figures that would come out.
Of course, the Hasbro version won't come with an empty box. It will include a Darth Vader figure. The display set will be an exact replica, though, and will include both sides of backing from the original.
There will also be a couple of exclusive figures coming that include Luke in his X-Wing pilot gear, which will be available at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando. Then there's the droid R5-D4, which will be available at Gamestop retail locations.
There's a lot of Star Wars action figure greatness coming this year! I need to get my hands on this entire set! You can see all the photos below!

Just in case you missed The Simpsons this past weekend, they had an amazing Robot Chicken couch gag that you've gotta see! The gag centers on Homer embarking on a mission to find the sailboat painting after he notices it's missing from the wall behind him. This journey takes him through the world of Robot Chicken. Check it out!

I’m sure you all remember the end of Guardians of the Galaxy when Star-Lord helped save the galaxy by reaching out and grabbing the Power Stone with his bare hand. The expectation was for him to die, and it looked like it was going in that direction until his Guardians team joined hands and helped take on the energy that the stone was unleashing.
I never really thought about that experience or about how the power of that stone flowing through Peter Quill’s body would have affected him. But how could it not affect him!? He was holding the freakin’ Power Stone and the energy was exploding off of it!
While talking to CB, Chris Pratt was asked if the stone affected Star-Lord, and Pratt revealed that the ramifications of that will actually follow the character into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He said:
"It plays a certain role. His interaction with the Infinity Stone in the first movie becomes - there’s a thread there that gets pulled in the second movie, like you get to know a little bit more. But yeah, that wasn’t an unimportant aspect of who he is."
We know that one of the only reasons that Quill was able to survive holding the stone for as long as he did was because his father is an incredibly powerful being. This sparks Quill’s journey to go and find out who is father is, and we now know this leads him to Ego the Living Planet.
We’ll have to wait until the movie comes out before we learn any other aspects of how the Power Stone affected him.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.

This is one of the best and funniest videos that you'll probably see today! It features J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films and cuts him into Zack Snyder's DCEU. In the video, he's running The Daily Planet, and he's not one to take any crap from Clark Kent or Lois Lane. Watching him interact with these characters is so perfect, and it makes me wish that he was actually in charge of The Daily Planet! That's the kind of guy that they need. The video was created by DrMachakil, who is the same guy who made that ridiculous video of Tom Cruise falling through various films.

Last week we learned that Kevin Smith is going to write and direct a series based on the Spawn characters Sam and Twitch, who are two homicide detectives Spawn confides in. After the announcement was made, Smith tweeted, "Get ready for the Jay & Silent Bob of cops.” I’m not sure I would compare them to Jay and Silent Bob, but ok. Sam and Twitch deal with a lot of dark, twisted, and insane stuff.
In a recent interview with CB, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane shared his thoughts on Smith taking on the project and talks about what he thinks he might end up doing with the project versus what he himself would do.
"I think naturally my bent on almost anything is always darker than most people’s. I know that Kevin's going to put a little bit of a fun factor in there that I might not otherwise do myself because I've got more of a morbid bent. It will be nice to see how he tackles the balancing act: if it's too much fun, maybe people don't take it seriously, but if you get too serious, people go, 'Why do you gotta depress me?' Everybody has a different personality when they watch TV or movies. My wife doesn't like dark, heavy dramas, but I could watch them all day long....[Kevin] is going to try and thread the needle with those two groups and see if he can pull it off."
Yeah, I could see Smith taking the two characters down a lighter road, but I hope he doesn’t. I’m the kind of person that wants to see a dark and hardcore Sam and Twitch series. He goes on to say that he “can't think of another corner of the Spawn universe he'd like to see explored,” and then adds, "I think the next shoe to drop will probably be the Spawn movie.”
Of course, he had to plug his Spawn film! He’s been slowly working on that movie for years. I would really love to see it happen, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I'll be shocked if it actually ever does get made.
I'm curious and excited to see what Smith does with Sam and Twitch, though! Hopefully he delivers something that the fans will enjoy.

Adult Swim has released the opening scene from the long-awaited return of Rick and Morty for their third season. If you're a hardcore fan of this hilarious animated series, then you'll appreciate what you are about to watch. Are you ready? Watch it and we'll discuss below:
If you watched it, you can totally see that you've been completely rickrolled by Rick and Morty, and I loved it! After the video was posted, Adult Swim posted the following comment:
"Our sincerest apologies, there appears to have been a technical issue with our editing program we will attend to this as quickly as possible."
I'm sure fans of the series noticed that the video is edited together using dialogue from the first two seasons of Rick and Morty, and it basically serves as a hilarious reminder of what has led up to season three.
It's the kind of amusing bait and switch humor that you'd expect from the series! I love that they can actually get away with antagonizing their fans and have the fans love them for it!
We still have no idea what to expect from season three or when it will premiere, but we know that's it's coming, and that's what's important.
The Opening Scene of RICK AND MORTY Season 3 Is Complete Madness!
Personally, I don't watch very many film clips released for big movies before I actually see the movie because I'd rather see things for the first time in the proper context. But I made an exception for this clip from Disney's upcoming Beauty and the Beast because it's a remake, and since I've already seen the original, I wanted to check it out for comparison purposes.
Here's a clip from "Belle," the female lead's first big song in the animated movie, and it looks pretty spot-on in the way it recaptures that look and feel in live action. I'm still not quite convinced that this movie needs to exist in live action in the first place, but maybe once I see it all come together, my mind will be changed. In the meantime, enjoy the clip of Emma Watson singing her way through her provincial town.
Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.

Remember when director Guillermo del Toro raised the hopes of Hellboy fans everywhere for a third film when he promised meetings with Ron Perlman and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola to talk about a third film? It was exciting! There was finally going to be some real movement with Hellboy 3!
Well, today that excitement has died. Del Toro announced on Twitter that Hellboy 3 is 100% not happening and said, "this is to be the final thing about it." Here's his tweet:
Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) February 21, 2017
So that sucks ass. It makes me wonder if the whole reason and plan behind hyping this whole thing up was to get everyone's attention just to later say that Hellboy 3 isn't happening so that the fans and press stop bringing it up. What I'm saying is that this crappy outcome was part of his plan all along. He probably got together with everyone just to tell them to please stop teasing, pushing, and talking about any possibility of Hellboy 3. Anyway, he definitely got our attention. That tweet makes it very clear that this is a true end to the discussion.
So, we can all forget about Hellboy 3. I think there could have been something great there, but... oh well. That's life.
Guillermo Del Toro Says That HELLBOY 3 "Will Not Happen" and "That's the Final Thing About It"
It seems like no comic book movie would be complete without a post-credits scene. It's pretty much just expected now. However, there were questions raised after the cut of Logan screened for critics didn't include a post-credits scene. Not long after the press screenings took place, word began to spread that there actually would be a post-credits scene in the theatrical cut. Those rumors have now been confirmed to be true!
The confirmation comes from Collider, who says that they aren't "sure if it’s halfway through the credits or at the very end," but they "can 100% tell you something will be there." There's no word on what the scene will entail, but it will not be shown until the movie opens in theaters on March 3rd.
I have no doubt that the post-credits will leak online shortly after the film is released. I can't help but think that the scene will involve X-23 and that it will tease the continuation of her journey, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm so excited to see Logan for myself! The reviews that I've seen have been so damn exciting! I haven't seen anyone give it a bad review! Everyone just seems to be gushing about how good it is and one person that I trust completely about films told me that Logan is hands down, the best superhero film ever made and that it's a masterpiece.
You can also read Ben's review here, who loved the film as well! I can't wait to see it!

Today is the last day for Oscar voting, and some people at Industrial Light and Magic are hoping to lock down a win in the Best Visual Effects category thanks to their work on Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange. The company has been sharing a few cool VFX reels on its YouTube page to potentially sway the minds of any last-minute voters, and we get to reap the benefits by peeking behind the curtain and seeing all of the amazing work they put in to creating the film's insane visual landscape.

Before I get into it, this rumored news contains potential spoilers regarding how Boba Fett may be connected to director Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The news comes from YouTuber Mike Zeroh, who previously offered some possible information on the first teaser trailer that will be released for the film.
We know that Rey, Finn, Poe, Luke, Chewbacca, and Leia will all be back for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. They will be joined by a few new actors playing new characters in the franchise, including Kelly Marie Tran as a new Resistance leader and Laura Dern as another Rebel character.
The most mysterious new addition, though, is Benicio del Toro, who will be playing a villain in the story. There's been no information about his character, but now it looks like there's a bit of information that's actually really cool because it involves a connection to Boba Fett!
Zeroh points out in his video that del Toro was listed on wikiwand.com as playing a character named Vikrum Fett. This was later changed to saying his role was TBA, but it’s already sparked the possibility that the Del Toro could actually be playing the son of Boba Fett.
Boba Fett is one of the most iconic villains to come out of the Star Wars franchise. After he was killed in Return of the Jedi, he was resurrected in the Expanded Universe and continued his adventures. There's never been any mention of the bounty hunter having a son named Vikrum, so this would be a cool big surprise if this rumor turns out to be true.
Remember, this is just a rumor, but do you hope that the rumor is true?
There May Be an Interesting Connection to Boba Fett in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI
Last year, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story became the latest film to kick up the old "have we finally climbed out of the uncanny valley?" argument thanks to its digital depiction of Peter Cushing's Grand Moff Tarkin character. (For the record, I don't think we're quite there yet — that face distracted me every moment he was on screen, and the capper of a young CGI Leia was the worst use of CG in the whole movie.)
In any case, the conversation about how far we've come technologically is a fun one, and YouTuber zarbot has compiled some cool behind the scenes clips from movies including The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy, and more to illustrate that evolution.

Here's the intense first trailer for Mine, a new thriller starring Armie Hammer as a soldier who gets caught between a rock and a hard place when he steps on a land mine in a foreign desert. If he moves, the bomb goes off and he's toast. So the majority of the movie appears to be devoted to throwing everything possible at this character to see if he'll be able to, as the tag line says, "stand [his] ground." It's a fresh twist on a familiar genre convention, and I'm looking forward to seeing if Hammer and co-writers/co-directors Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro can deliver on the nail-biting promise of this trailer.
Mine hits theaters on April 7, 2017.
After a failed assassination attempt, a soldier finds himself stranded in the desert. Exposed to the elements, he must survive the dangers of the desert and battle the psychological and physical toll of the treacherous conditions.

Here it is! Our first look at the cast of Lucasfilm's Han Solo: A Star Wars Story! The film has yet to have an official title, but that's what I'll be calling it until it has one.
From left to right the photo features Woody Harrelson, co-director Chris Miller, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Alden Ehrenreich, Emila Clarke, co-director Phil Lord, Donald Glover, and Chewbacca! As you can see, they all packed into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon to take the photo.
This gives us our first idea of what Ehrenreich and Glover will look like as their characters Han and Lando. Not much is know about the story of the film other than that it will explore Han and Chewbacca's adventures "before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian."
Along with the photo comes confirmation that Waller-Bridge and Thandie Newton will be in the film. It also mentions that Joonas Suotamo is playing Chewbacca. Lord and Miller released a statement with the photo as well saying:
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous. We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
The Han Solo film is set to be released on May 25, 2018, and it's going to be awesome to see what come of it! Punch it, Chewie!

Terrence Malick's movies are often described as "lyrical," but his latest film, Song to Song, may be the most appropriate target for that adjective. It's a drama set in Austin, Texas that deals with the seductive world of music, and with actors like Rooney Mara, Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman starring and supporting talent including Cate Blanchett, Benicio Del Toro, and Christian Bale, this has some serious potential. Check out the first trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
Song to Song is set to premiere at this year's SXSW Film Festival and hits theaters on March 17, 2017.

Marvel has cast their leading man in their upcoming ambitious series Inhumans. Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon has been cast in the role of Maximus in the series. Thanks to THR, we have some details on the version of the character in the series, saying:
Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. In the eight-episode straight-to-series drama, Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
In a statement, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said:
"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board," Marvel TV head Loeb said.
The showrunner of the series, Scott Buck adds:
"Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent."
After seeing what he did on Game of Thrones as the asshole character Ramsay Bolton, the guy seems absolutely perfect for this new role!
Feature director Roel Reine (Death Race 2, The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe, The Scorpion King 3) is set to helm the first two episodes of the series, which will be shot in IMAX and premiere in IMAX theaters on Labor Day weekend. The series will then start its eight-episode run on ABC on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017. All eight episodes are expected to run on the network over consecutive Tuesdays, which means that the finale will air on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017.
