HBO Announces SILICON VALLEY Season 4 Premiere Date!

0
0

HBO's Silicon Valley is one of the funniest comedies on TV, and if you haven't been watching, you've been missing out big time. You all need to be watching this show! If you have been watching then you'll be happy to learn that Silicon Valley season four will premiere on Sunday, April 23rd!

Season four will consist of ten episodes and will continue the story and crazy adventures of Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) and his friends as they try to build a tech company called Pied Piper in Silicon Valley. It's been an amazingly hilarious three seasons, and I can't wait to see what season four has in store for them.

The series is actually inspired by creator Mike Judge's own experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the late ‘80s. The series also stars TJ Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Suzanne Cryer, and Jimmy O. Yang.

An important message from the beasts of #SiliconValleyHBO: We're back on April 23 at 10PM. 🎥: @tombini

Adam Savage is a crafty dude with some crazy awesome talents. I don't know if you've seen this or not, but in a new One Day Build Tested video, he takes Nerf's already awesome Longstrike CS-6 sniper rifle and transforms it into something completely badass! It not only looks super rad, but he also modified it to shoot longer and harder. Hell, he even added a real scope to it! This thing looks lethal. He made this as a Secret Santa gift for one hell of a lucky Imgur user. You can watch how he made the custom Nerf rifle below.

Japan's Poster Art for KONG: SKULL ISLAND Has an Awesome Classic Feel

japans-poster-art-for-kong-skull-island-has-an-awesome-classic-feel

Legendary Pictures has released a Japanese poster for their incredibly cool-looking film Kong: Skull Island. I love this poster because it has that fun classic look and feel of the giant Japanese monster movie posters of the past. As you can see, not only does it feature Kong, but it also features several other creatures on the Island. It was previously revealed that these creatures were inspired by the anime designs of Hayao Miyazaki.

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

The movie has a great cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and John GoodmanKong: Skull Island was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and it's set to be released on March 10th, 2017.

There's a fun burger joint located in the city of Pasig, Philippines called Brick Burger that sells edible LEGO hamburgers! They even come in different colors. It's crazy because the burgers actually look pretty delicious. I won't be going to the Philippines anytime soon to eat one, but it's still cool to see!

24 Reasons THE RING and IT FOLLOWS Are the Same Movie

0

I was such a huge fan of The Ring when it was first released. It was a genuinely terrifying and entertaining film. I didn't feel the same way about It Follows, though. A lot of people seemed to have high praise for It Follows, but I didn't think it was that great. I thought the concept was great, but I thought it was poorly executed as a film. Anyway, Couch Tomato has released a new video focusing on these films, and he gives us 24 reasons why they are the same movie.

Learn About the Possibilities of Time Travel in EPIC HOW TO's New Video

Epic How To presents to us one of the mainstays in science fiction, time travel. With goofy if not unsettling animations (Hey, Trent!), Epic How To shows us the possibilities of traversing that fourth dimension. Presented in a simple but not dumbed down way, they explain how it may be possible to accelerate going forward in time and even explore theories on how to travel back in time. I've always enjoyed these Epic How To videos because they always explore improbable scenarios. So while it may be possible to travel through time, it'll be a while before we hit Time Lord status.

Review: FIFTY SHADES DARKER Is More Like Fifty Shades Lighter

0
0

Let me start this review by saying how much I love you guys. Whoever you are, reading this article, I love you. That’s why I saw this movie. It’s not a commitment to my work, or even this website, it’s you. You’re welcome.

Did I see Fifty Shades of Grey? Did I read the book? Hell, no. But I did read the Wikipedia page so that I would be up-to-speed before going into the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker. From my understanding, it’s the classic story of a girl looking for commitment from a guy who just wants wild, casual sex. In other words, every Tinder interaction ever, give or take a billion dollars.

Dakota Johnson stars as Ana Steele, perhaps the luckiest girl in the world. After dumping her... sexual partner, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), for refusing to enter a normal relationship with her and for being way too into weird kinky stuff, Ana begins her dream job as an assistant at a publishing house in hopes of one day becoming an editor. After work, she runs into—or is stalked by, more accurately—her former beau at an art show. He persuades her to have dinner with him, and they immediately get back together when he agrees to be her boyfriend. For realsies this time, guys.

I say Ana is lucky because she has a power that most other girls dream of. Apparently, she can turn even the baddest boy into a loving, committed boyfriend. The whole entire premise of this movie is basically just Christian showing Ana how much he’s changed, and how he really is there for her. Ana is the patron saint of any woman who has ever said, “I can fix him.”

I don’t know what happened in the first movie, but apparently Christian was a total jackass/control freak. There’s almost none of that in this movie. Christian Grey seems like a really nice guy with a troubled past, but he’s learning to work through it with the help of his awesome girlfriend. And any time a remotely tense situation arises within their relationship, one of them ends up giving in, and everything is perfect once again. Until, of course, one of Christian’s former submissives shows up and threatens to ruin it all.

The acting in this movie is as good as you would expect. The writing comes off like a soap opera that managed to get the budget to hire a decent cinematographer. The plot, like the sex scenes, never reaches a climax. And every time something even remotely threatening happens, everyone manages to make it through unscathed.

I heard one of the big issues people had with the first movie was that it wasn’t kinky enough. Well, kids, unless you get turned on by a guy really showing how committed he is in a relationship (I’m looking at you, ladies) there isn’t much this movie has to offer in terms of heat. Sure, there’s a lot of sex, and it’s probably not a movie to watch with your mom, but it’s pretty tame. I would say I was disappointed, but my expectations were at rock-bottom to begin with.

Katee Sackhoff Set to Star in the Sci-Fi Thriller ORIGIN UNKNOWN

Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff is set to star in the new sci-fi thriller called Origin Unknown. She will take on the lead role of Mackenzie "Mack" Wilson.

The story for the film is set "after the first manned mission to Mars ends in a deadly crash." Wilson is a mission controller who is summoned to assist an artificial intelligence system – A.R.T.I. During the investigation they uncover "a mysterious object under the surface of Mars, leading to a discovery that could change the future of our planet as we know it."

Sounds like a solid role for Sackhoff to take on as she suits up and heads into space. As a long time fan of Sackhoff, it's always great to see her land leading roles like this. In recent years she's starred in projects such as RiddickOculusDon't Knock Twice, and the Netflix series Longmire

10 Improvised Movie Scenes That Other Actors Didn't See Coming

0

I enjoy hearing fun stories from film sets, particularly stories that involve actors totally improvising certain scenes that weren't previously planned. Screen Rant has released a great video that lists ten improvised movie scenes that the cast or crew didn't see coming. I wasn't familiar with a few of the things listed in this video so it might be worth checking out. Some of the films included in the video are The Wolf of Wall Street, Zoolander, The Dark Knight, Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather, The Departed, Star Wars, and Harry Potter

Behind the scenes of every movie you love, years of planning have gone in to making sure that every line, prop and camera angle are exactly what the filmmakers want. The crazy thing about movie making, though, is that sometimes, even with all that planning, the filmmakers and actors decide to toss out the script and improvise instead. Sometimes this can be disastrous, but sometimes these unplanned moments turn out to be seriously awesome. For this video, we are taking a look at some of the best for our list of 10 Improvised Movie Scenes That Made Actors React Out Of Nowhere. Enjoy this video and be sure to hit the subscribe button for more awesome Screen Rant content, every day of the week.

I recently came across this cool video featuring all of Captain America's most badass fight scenes from the MCU. Captain America is one of my favorite characters, and it's always awesome to see him fight! The guy has got some great moves. I know you've already seen these fight scenes when watching the movies, but seeing them all back to back like is super entertaining, so check it out! I love how all of these fight scenes are choreographed and how they all play out. There's never a lame Captain America fight scene!

Stunning and Inspiring Fan Art for THE IRON GIANT

I feel like I don't see enough great fan art for The Iron Giant, which is my number one favorite animated film of all time. They just don't make awesome animated films like this anymore. Don't get me wrong, Pixar and Disney are doing great things, but they haven't really done anything that has connected with me the way that The Iron Giant has.

Anyway, I came across this stunning piece of fan art created by Asim Salman that I had to share! I just love seeing The Iron Giant flying through the clouds with a red cape. It's inspiring. I'd love a print of this that I could frame and put up in my home.

FORCE MAJEURE Director Explains His Rejected Take on PASSENGERS

0
0

Chalk this up as yet another one of those "what if?" Hollywood missed connections. Passengers, the sci-fi movie starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, ended up being...not great. Despite being a vehicle for two of the world's hottest movie stars, the film's marketing team did a pretty crafty job of hiding the movie's main conflict from all of its trailers and TV spots. I'm going to give away the film's premise, so if you don't want to know what it's really about, turn back now.

While the trailers make you think that Pratt and Lawrence's characters are woken up from cryo-sleep at the same time (90 years before their ship arrives at its destination), that's not the case. Pratt's chamber malfunctions and he spends a year trying to fix it. When he realizes that he'll be forced to spend the rest of his life on board a massive spaceship all alone, he decides to wake Lawrence's character up so he won't be lonely. It's a horrible thing to do to someone, and that decision hangs over their ensuing romance for the rest of the film.

But Ruben Ostlund, the director of the Swedish language hit Force Majeure, had a different take on the movie that sounds like it would have been much more interesting. Screencrush points us to a Variety interview in which Ostlund explains how his vision would have differed from what we saw on screen:

There was one film I really wanted to do that has been made now. That was ‘Passengers.’ But I wanted to change the setup of ‘Passengers.’ The main character is a guy who wakes up in one of those pods on a spaceship. I wanted to put his family in the other pods, his wife and kids. Then there’s this dilemma: He’s going to die on the ship because the travel takes 300 years. If he wakes up his kids, they will die on the spaceship and not on the planet they’re heading for; if he wakes up his wife, then the kids will not have a mother when they arrive. So of course, you have to wake up another woman, because you don’t want to be alone. Then you can swipe on pictures to see the women, like Tinder. You have to decide on the pictures and pick someone. To bring things [like] that would be relevant in contemporary times. But when I pitched this to the producers, I think they got scared.

Adding that family element makes the decision much more complicated than the one Pratt's character makes in the version we saw (which was directed by Morten Tyldum), and in a movie that was in desperate need of some creative storytelling help, this may have been enough to make its concept more palatable for the people who saw it. It obviously didn't happen, but I like Ostlund's thinking here and hope he brings that same thoughtful outlook to whatever he directs next.

Tom Hiddleston Goes Through the Nuances of Accents in Great Video

0

Being a great actor takes a lot of observation and mimicry. That much I've gathered from listening to Tom Hiddleston talk about miscellaneous accents for a couple minutes. At first, I figured he was good at replicating the accents as he doesn't live too far from the areas he's mentioned, but then he starts breaking down the delivery and cadence of these accents, and you begin to realize it's a lot more work than we tend to give credit for.

This video also showed me that Hiddleston is charming as hell and could likely make anyone blush in a conversation! Check out the video below.

Great Cosplay Music Video from South PAX 2017

Mineralblu gives us a silky smooth glimpse of the cosplay community down in San Antonio during the South PAX Convention. Using a DJI Osmo, he was able to capture some of the extraordinary costumes inspired by some of our favorite anime, games, and series. With cameras like the Osmo and other gimbal based rigs, we will probably start seeing more and more videos like this one showcasing a higher production value without breaking the bank. Mineralblu was even able to give us a fantastic view of the San Antonio skyline using the new DJI Mavic pro, a compact drone. It's nice to be able to see all these different conventions without having to go to all of them, although that would make for a killer road trip.  I'm sure the cosplayers love seeing their hard work showcased in the video. Be sure to check out Mineralblu's YouTube channel to see more of the conventions he's been to

Here's What a $400,000 House Looks Like in Japan

0
0

A $400,000 home can vary widely in quality depending on what part of the United States you live in. If you're in California like Joey, that's the going rate for an apartment in most areas! If you're in Indiana like me, you can build a sizable mini mansion with that kind of cash! In Japan, you get a weird variety of both. Limited space in the country means lavish houses rise up as opposed to expanding out, and square footage is definitely more limited than even your modest midwestern home. That means you need a lot of tricky architecture, cutting edge technology, and cool layouts to make a home like this appealing to the average Japanese family!

I love the technology in this Japanese home, but I don't think I would appreciate limited outlets for my electronics or a range that holds less than my good old American grill! For me personally, I don't think I would drop nearly half a million dollars on this house. Check out the video and let me know if you would! P.S. you might have to hit CC for subtitles!

Matt Reeves Is Most Likely Going to Direct THE BATMAN Because He Was Offered the Job

0
0

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has officially offered the job of directing The Batman to Matt Reeves. The news comes shortly after Ben Affleck stepped down. Reeves has directed such movies as Let Me In, Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the soon to be released War for the Planet of the Apes. An impressive stable of movies that I think would lend well to the tone that The Batman will be going for.

Affleck stepped away because he felt the project was getting too big for him to do both acting and directing, but did say that he wanted someone who he could collaborate with. I think the real question is, regardless of who they get to direct, will Warner Bros. let the creative people do their job without much interference?

The Batman represents Warner Bros' chance at redemption. I thought Batman was the best part of Batman v. Superman, and I'm cautiously optimistic seeing them take their time to get the right people involved.
