Here's a cool music video for Flock of Dimes' "(This is Why) I Can't Wear White". It's basically a supercut of scenes from 78 different films that take place underwater. Most of the scenes include people being saved or dying... or being murdered.

Titles For Miyazaki and Takahata's New Studio Ghibli Films

If leaked titles for foreign language films don't get you excited, I don't know what will. What's that? Literally anything else? Give us a break though, it's Thanksgiving, news is slow, and us animation fans will eat this up. Though these films aren't officially announced, the titles were leaked after Studio Ghibli's Japanese distributor registered domain names for the films.

The new Hayao Miyazaki film will be titled Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises). The World War II set story centers on the man who designed the Zero Fighter plane for Japan.

The new film from Isao Takahata is called Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari (Princess Kaguya Story). The movie will be based on the Japanese folk tale, "Tale of the Bamboo Cutter."

Both films are somewhat related to the directors' past work. According to /Film Miyazaki has stated that this new film, whose source material features anthropomorphized pigs, will be related to Porco Rosso. Meanwhile, the "Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" was referenced in Takahata's 1999 film, My Neighbors the Yamadas.

In other Ghibli related news, GKIDS has picked up the rights to Takahata's 1988 film, Grave of the Fireflies, and plans to re-release the film next year to coincide with the 25th anniversary of its original release.

   Many Faces of Depp

Here's a fun little art gif featuring many of the characters that Johnny Depp has played over the years. I'm not sure who created it, but I came across it over on ScreenRant. Depp is a great actor, and it's fun to see him him do his thing in the movies he makes. Out of al the movies he's been in over the years... who's your favorite character?

Don't stare at the gif too long, it will make you go crazy!

THANKSGIVING REVENGE OF THE GOBBLER - Horror Comedy Short

Here’s an original short called Thanksgiving Revenge of the Gobbler, and let me just say that this short is pretty freakin’ funny. The story starts with a group of ordinary friends preparing for Thanksgiving dinner; little do they know that this Thanksgiving feast will lead to horrific madness. The film was made by Indy Mogul network; they focus on DIY effects, filmmaking tips, and showcasing creative work. The film was directed by Harris Malden and it was pretty well done. The acting, storyline and cinematography are solid. I especially liked the characters that are portrayed in the film, they just make me bust out laughing. I also like the fun Alien tribute. I think you will enjoy this short as well.

Here's the Synopsis:

In a world, where ordinary people lead ordinary lives, one holiday ends in horrific madness. Friendship, revenge, terror, turkey and an angry ex-girlfriend...all in this chest bursting short film.

Judd Apatow's 22 Year Old SIMPSONS Script Will Be Brought To Life!

Judd Apatow got his big break with the classic short lived TV series Freak and Geeks. Before that he was trying to break into the industry by writing unsolicited scripts for TV shows. He recently revealed that he wrote one for The Simpsons that sounded pretty funny. He explained that all of the films he's made over the years have carried the same theme that he wrote in that Simpsons script. Now after two decades, it looks like that script will be brought to life!

In the story Homer is hypnotized into thinking that he’s 10 years old again and winds up as best friends with Bart.

During an interview with Conan O’Brien on his web series Serious Jibber-JabberApatow, who is the writer-producer-director of films such as Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, revealed that after he mentioned the Simpsons script he wrote, the show’s producers contacted him, and they plan on bringing the episode he wrote to life! This news was confirmed by producer Al Jean on EW who said "I thought, ‘Well, we’re always looking for good shows and good writers, I sent word to him: ‘If you’re interested, we’ll buy it.’ I think he had to find it — it was in one of his boxes.” You've got to admit this is extremely cool!

TRON WARS - Darth Vader / Tron Mashup Art

After seeing this Star Wars/ Tron mashup art I started to think about Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski. I don't think his name has been thrown around as a possible director for any of the new Star Wars films, but I wouldn't mind seeing him take one on.

One of the big (among many) gripes people had with the Star Wars prequels was with how much George Lucas relied on CGI. It felt like there were many sets that could've been built practically or shot on some location that just ended up being left in the hands of visual effects artists. All of the Clones were CGI for gosh sake! While this could have been an easy and acceptable route for Tron: Legacy (considering the setting of the film), Kosinski took the complete opposite approach and opted to build elaborate sets and utilized a surprising amount of practical effects.

Disney has faith in Kosinski, even though Tron: Legacy didn't perform as well as they wished and they had to pass on Oblivion. The Star Wars universe is pretty timeless, but if there's someone out there that could bring a fresh visual take and give Star Wars a face lift it'd be Kosinski.

I don't know who the artist is who did the piece, but it comes from CafeMadruga (via: GeeksAreSexy).

Neil Patrick Harris is a great entertainer. Unfortunately he suffers from a very strange ailment in which his dreams are always invaded by puppets. He's got a fun new web-series based around this goofy idea called Puppet Dreams, and it's set to debut on Nerdist's YouTube channel on November 27th. A six minute behind the scenes video has been released giving us our first taste of what this series will be like. Here's a description of the series...

In a revealing exposé of the inner workings of Neil Patrick Harris' subconscious, the Nerdist Channel presents a gripping behind-the-scenes look at the making and inspiration for Neil's Puppet Dreams. Bearing a rare disorder that results in a dreamscape filled with puppets, Mr. Patrick Harris and those who know him best tell all in this exclusive sneak peek.

Looks like it could be a really fun series. I'll be tuning in!

You've got to watch this hilarious short film called "I'm Retired" from Comedy Central's Key & Peele. I laughed so hard while watching this that my face hurt. It was directed by Peter Atencio and written by Alex Rubens. Here's the little description included with the video,

When a threat unlike any other we've seen faces the nation, the military has only one man they can turn to for help.

The short plays out great and the comedic timing is spot on perfect. I hope you enjoy the short as much as I did. It's been a long time since I laughed so hard.

Brad Pitt's Mob Film KILLING THEM SOFTLY has a New Trailer

Here's another trailer with new footage for the great looking Andrew Dominik-directed and Brad Pitt hitman film Killing Them Softly

The story follows hitman Jackie Cogan (Pitt), who is tracking down two people who ripped off his boss's high-stakes poker tournament. That obviously wasn't a smart move on their part. Ray Liotta also stars in the film as the hustler running the poker game, Richard Jenkins plays a lawyer with inside information, James Gandolfini plays a washed up alcoholic hit man, Vincent Curatola plays a middle-aged prison release seeking revenge, and Sam Rockwell is also in the movie.

The movie will be released on November 30th. I've enjoyed all of Dominik's films such as Chopper and The Assassination of Jesse James, and this looks like it's going to be pretty awesome, especially with this amazing cast.

BTTF's Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen) Riffs on Sci-Fi Conventions

Actor-comedian Tom Wilson has been in over forty films, has had roles in dozens of TV shows and has lent his voice to countless video games and cartoons. Despite a long career with many notable roles, most people only know him as Biff from Back to the Future. Ya can't really blame those people, he did a fantastic job in the trilogy portraying Biff at three different ages, as well as the bully's ancestor in the third film.

Wilson utilizes his guitar and song writing skills in much of his stand-up act, and has written a new song about sci-fi conventions and why you won't see him at any... anymore. The song is hilarious and the rants he goes on in between the song are priceless.

AKIRA Movie Concept Art Featuring Kaneda and Cityscapes

Warner Bros. just can't seem to get their live-action big screen adaptation of Akira into production. It's really kind of ridiculous that they keep letting the film fall through. Before development of the film was shut down it was going to be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan) and it would have starred Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) amd Kristen Stewart (Twilight). Before that Albert Hughes (Book Of Eli) and short film director, Ruairi Robinson were attached to direct the film.

Here's some concept art from the unmade movie showing off a character design for Kaneda, and some of the cityscapes depicting New Manhattan. The concept art was done by Rodolfo Damaggio who also worked on films such as Hulk, Iron Man and Green Lantern.

Collection of DOCTOR WHO Art Inspired by Dr. Seuss

Check out this great collection of Dr. Seuss inspired Doctor Who art from around the web. There aren't that many of them, but I like what I've found. It would be kind of cool to see a Doctor Who episode in which he enters the world of Dr. Seuss. Anything is possible with the Doctor and his TARDIS! It's really not that crazy of an idea compared to some of the other adventures we've seen The Doctor embark on.

The illustration above was created by Bill Mudron and it's called The Cat in the Hat Came Back (eventually). Here's what he said about it.

I read a recent criticism of the Moffat-era of Doctor Who being a glorified version of The Cat in the Hat, to which I couldn’t help but think…well….”duh”.

(Though we all know that the Eleventh Doctor is more Peter Pan than anything else, in case all the off-the-cuff remarks about fairytales and not growing up got lost in the bits where an eternally-youthful weirdo shows up to whisk a pajama-clad heroine to a realm where time has no meaning….)
