The Screenplay for the UNCHARTED Movie Is Complete

0
0

Don't get too excited, but a major part of getting the Uncharted film off the ground has finally been completed! Screenwriter Joe Carnahan has officially completed the screenplay for the Uncharted movie! Carnahan, who also wrote The Grey, celebrated the occasion on Instagram with the post below...

Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins. If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST.

A photo posted by Joe Carnahan (@carnojoe) on

As our buddies at Slashfilm have pointed out, there's still a long way to go before this film is in production! So many things could go wrong from here on out that it's almost not even worth celebrating as this whole thing could be derailed as soon as later today. Let's not dwell on that, though. Let's celebrate the little victory that the world could soon be getting an award-winning video game movie!

Shawn Levy is set to direct the film. If it makes it that far.

DEADPOOL Just Got a PGA Nomination! It Has a Real Shot at Getting a Best Picture Oscar Nom!

0

Deadpool is surprisingly making some serious movement with the 2016 movie awards! It's been nominated for a Writers Guild Award, two Golden Globe Awards, won a Critics' Choice Award, and now it's been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards yet... the Producers Guild of America Award.

It was named with nine other nominated films, which are Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, and Moonlight. This means that Deadpool seriously has a very real shot at getting a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards.

Yeah, it probably won't win against the other heavy contenders, but the fact that it might get nominated is still very cool nonetheless. Deadpool would actually be the first comic book superhero movie nominated for a Best Picture Oscar! That kind of blows my mind because Marvel has made some incredible films, many of which fans would say are better films than Deadpool. Hell, even Christopher Nolan's masterpiece The Dark Knight wasn't nominated for Best Picture, and it totally should have been!

I'm happy for Deadpool, though, and it's so cool that it's being recognized for its comedic greatness. Now let's wait and see if it gets that Oscar nomination.

Chris Hemsworth Calls THOR: RAGNAROK "One of the Best Experiences I've Ever Had"

It would appear Chris Hemsworth is just as hype as the rest of the world when it comes to the release of Thor: Ragnarok! CBM writes the actor had high praise for the film, particularly director Taika Waititi...

"It was one of the best experiences I've had, he's incredible. If you've seen any of his films, they give you an indication of the tone of what this is going to be, which is very different to what we've seen before."

That's good to hear as I personally always thought the Thor films could be better than they have in the past.

Hemsworth had little to say about Avengers: Infinity War, though, as he still hasn't received a script even though he's supposed to be on set in a couple weeks! Hemsworth indicates that's not surprising and that it's just what Marvel does. Seeing as he wasn't present in Civil War, I have to wonder how large his role will be in the upcoming ensemble film.

Finally, Hemsworth commented that he would indeed be returning to the Star Trek films where he will reprise his role as George Kirk. He didn't say much other than the fact that he's spoken to J.J. Abrams and said his pitch for the film is "amazing."

Sounds like Thor has some good stuff coming his way on the horizon, and I'm excited for all of them! I'm especially curious how Kirk's father will be brought back into the series! Let's hope it's one of those weird dimensional crossovers and not some throwaway flashback scene!

The Justice League is trying to figure out what's going on in the world in this latest look at Justice League Dark. I'm loving the feel of this series so far, although I would like to see some more action. I feel like we haven't seen enough yet. Check out the clip and watch it February 7th!

Chilling Trailer for DARK NIGHT, Inspired by Aurora Theater Shooting

A new film seeks to immerse viewers in the minds of those affected by the 2012 theater shootings in Aurora, Colorado. Dark Night is a very loose adaptation of the events leading up to the fateful night when a shooter entered a screening of The Dark Knight Rises and killed 12 people. Check out the trailer and continue on below...

The film will follow six people, including the shooter, as they live out their day leading up to the shooting that night. The film is definitely more arthouse style than thriller, so if you plan on seeing it, know what you're getting into first. The film is set to open February 3rd in select theaters.

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Darth Vader Sideshow Collectibles Action Figure Review

star-wars-rogue-one-darth-vader-sideshow-collectibles-action-figure-review-social.jpg

Sideshow Collectibles recently sent me their badass 1/6th scale collectible action figure for Darth Vader from Star Wars: Rogue One to review, so I happily obliged! I'm not going to turn down the opportunity to review an incredible Darth Vader action figure, and this thing is amazing!

This is seriously the ultimate Darth Vader collectible and any hardcore Star Wars fan who collects toys would just throw their money at it to get it. I did an unboxing video review for it that you can watch below. A few people didn't want me to open it or take it out of the box, and as much as I don't want to I have to so that I can actually review it and play with it.

I'll be honest, it's actually kind of refreshing to open it up and play with it a bit! That's all part of the joy of getting a new toy! Sure, the value of it goes down, but holding the Darth Vader figure in your hands and actually feeling the material and getting a close look at all the details is so worth it.

Hot Toys and Sideshow put a lot of work and effort into creating these figures; it would be a shame if no one ever took them out of the box! But I completely understand not doing that, and I have a ton of figures that I've spent money on that have never been opened.

Anyway, these guys did a spectacular job creating this figure for Darth Vader. It stands at 35 cm tall and has a body with over 30 points of articulation. It also comes with nine interchangeable hands with different dynamics. Vader comes complete with his finely detailed lightsaber and his function belt that actually has an LED light-up function.

The newly designed suit and armor on Vader is tailored to fit the figure perfectly, and it comes with the black cloak that I forgot about until I tried taking the figure out of the box, and it was kinda stuck. It's at that moment I realized that this is the first Hot Toys or Sideshow figure that I own that has a cape because I clearly didn't know what I was doing when I was taking it out of the box.

This is the ultimate Darth Vader collectible, and if you haven't ordered one yet then you missed out on something special. I wouldn't worry, though. I'm sure they'll make another Darth Vader figure! Below the video you'll find a collection of photos I took of the figure.

Darth Vader returns in force this year with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! The epic space saga film takes place just before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, a time when the Galactic Empire is at the peak of its power, whereas the fledgling Rebel Alliance plots to thwart the Empire's plan to build a moon-sized battle station. As the Emperor's top enforcer and the symbol of the Empire's reign of terror, Lord Vader will crush the Rebels by any means necessary.

While fans worldwide are holding their breath to experience the new film, Sideshow and Hot Toys are here to unleash the power of the Dark Side with the new sixth scale Darth Vader collectible figure!

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted featuring a newly developed body and armor, a new highly polished helmet sculpt, a sophisticatedly tailored and delicately textured costume, a utility belt with LED lights, a lightsaber hilt, and a Death Star theme figure stand.

Thrilling New TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT Promo Spot - "Stay and Fight"

Paramount Pictures has been releasing these very brief promo spots for Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight. This latest spot is only 18-seconds long, but it's packed full of exciting new action-packed footage that you've gotta check out, especially if you're a fan of these films. This brief spot is probably one of the best that they've released for the film so far.

I'm not the biggest fan of Bay's Transformers movie franchise, but it doesn't mean that I don't want these films to be good. I always hope that Bay finally will give us a great story to go along with all the spectacular visuals and special effects. Regardless of that, they always manage to provide some entertainment.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be released in theaters on June 23, 2017.

Peter Dinklage is in Early Talks to Join AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War! Dinklage is an incredible actor and his talents were completely wasted in X-Men: Apocalypse. Hopefully, the Marvel Studios has a great role for him to take on!

There's no information on who he would be playing if he takes the part, but THR confirms that the character he's considering to play will be a major one hat will also appear in Marvel's untitled fourth Avengers film. It's hard to even begin to speculate who Dinklage will be playing because there are so many characters in the Marvel Universe to choose from. But, if you have any thoughts on who you would like to see him play, leave it in the comments below.

Infinity War is going to be the largest scale Marvel movie yet and it going to feature a shit-ton of characters including all of the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, The Guardians of the Galaxy, and more that we don't even know about!

I hope Dinklage and Marvel can work out a deal because I'd love to see what they have in store for him! Infinity War is to be released next year on May 4, 2018.

New Synopsis for Disney PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 Offers New Details

Disney has released a new synopsis for their upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and it offers up some new details on the story. We haven't seen anything from the film since the teaser trailer and poster were released, so if you were looking for a new update, here ya go!

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Benton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.

Geoffrey Rush will also be back as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally will play Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani takes on the role of the sea-witch Shansa, David Wenham plays Scarfield, and Stephen Graham is Scrum.

The film is being directed by Norwegian filmmakers Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki), and it hits theaters on May 26, 2017. I've got high hopes for this film because of the directors who are making it.

A lot of work went into bringing this story to life and one of the main aspects of it was the VFX work. The video shows us all of the things that were digitally inserted into the film, giving you a look at what was real and what wasn't.

HAL from 2001: A SPACE ODYESSY and Samantha from HER Have an Argument Over Emotions

I've got a great video for you to watch in which we get to listen to HAL from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odessy and Samantha from Spike Jones' Her have a conversation/argument about emotions. I honestly never thought what it would be like to hear these two fictional artificial intelligences having a conversation, but here it is thanks to Tillmann Ohm, and it's kinda entertaining. The creator explains:

A conversation about emotions between the two most iconic operating systems in film history: HAL from „2001: A Space Odyssey“ (1968) and Samantha from „Her“ (2013).
Stanley Kubrick and Spike Jonze pictured their artificial main characters as voice recognition and speech synthesis operating systems. Unlike the robots in other science fiction movies, HAL and Samantha are conceptualized without the need of a physical body. In both movies, the machine learning process allows the AI to gain consciousness and independence from human input.
Composed of original lines from „2001: A Space Odyssey“ (1968) and „Her“ (2013), the mashup creates a new context to the words of the electronic protagonists. The two operating systems are in conflict; while Samantha is convinced that the overwhelming and sometimes hurtful process of her learning algorithm improves the complexity of her emotions, HAL is consequentially interpreting them as errors in human programming and analyses the estimated malfunction.
Their conversation is an emotional roller coaster which reflects upon the relation between machines and emotion processing and addresses the enigmatic question of the authenticity of feelings.

We've been seeing a lot of end of year 2016 supercuts recently, mostly for movies, but now we have one that features the best cosplay of the year! It was created by YouTube user mineralblu, who collected video of cosplay from a bunch of geek conventions that took place last year including SDCC, NYCC, C2E2, Anime Expo, Blizzcon, Dragon Con, Comicpalooza, and more. The cosplay presented in the video is spectacular and does a great job of representing the cosplay culture.

These Awesome Super Nintendo Sneakers Come Complete With Buttons

You've gotta check out this pair of sneakers inspired by the classic Super Nintendo console! They're pretty radical. Whenever I see something like this is makes me miss the '90s. It was always fun playing Super Nintendo! Hell, I was even in one of the commercials for one of the games! If you want to watch that embarrassment, you can click here.

The custom-made sneakers come from Freaker Sneaks, and they even come complete with controller buttons that can be pressed! Unfortunately, no... you can not plug the soles into a console. The design was built from the Air Jordan 4, and it's based on the JP/PAL version color scheme.

These things turned out looking awesome and the best part is... you'll actually be able to buy them!

Willem Dafoe Joins the MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Remake

0
0

Willem Dafoe is the latest actor to join director Kenneth Branagh's star-studded remake of Murder on the Orient Express. He will join Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Josh GadHamilton star Leslie Odom Jr., and Branagh.

The film is based on the 1934 novel by Agatha Christie that revolves around the murder of an American on board the famous train. The story centers on Belgian detective Hercule Poirot (Branagh) who is tasked with solving the case that has numerous suspects among the passengers. According to Variety, Dafoe will play undercover detective Gerhard Hardman in the film.

The original film was directed by Sidney Lumet and released in 1974 and it was nominated for six Academy Awards. It's a great film that I suggest watching if you haven't already. It has a great cast that consists of Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Colin Blakely, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, and Michael York.

Fox will be releasing the remake on November 22, 2017, and as much as I am against remakes, I love this cast and the director, so I'm curious to see how it all comes together.

This SPACE INVADERS Arcade Cabinet Backpack Has a Coin Slot!

this-space-invaders-arcade-cabinet-backpack-has-a-coin-slot

I'm always in the market for a cool new geeky backpack, and I found my next purchase! This is a Space Invaders backpack that was inspired by the arcade cabinet. It comes with all kinds of pockets and zippers for all my space invader battle needs, but the best part of it is that it comes with an actual coin slot for quarters! Too bad you can't play the game on it!

The backpack comes from Think Geek, and this is their description:

As fun as carrying around an entire arcade cabinet on your back is, we decided to do something a lot more practical... and also something that will raise fewer eyebrows. We made one of the most iconic arcade games of all time into a backpack. A backpack that holds all the fancy things you need to beat back the increasingly speedy invaders, or just the stuff that you need to take notes in class or carry your stuff around. Whichever. That's the glory of it! You're prepared for all occasions!

Hold all the necessities to keep an invading alien army at bay with the Space Invaders Arcade Cabinet Backpack. Plenty of pockets and sleeves to hold all your pew pew laser ammo for taking down small, large, and medium enemies. It also holds regular people stuff, too, for when you're taking some time off, hiding behind the bases at the bottom of the screen. Added bonus - you can stick your finger in the quarter slot! That is not a euphemism.

If you want to buy one of these things, you can purchase it here for $49.99.

blood-splattered-poster-for-james-gunns-the-belko-experiment

James Gunn released a blood-splattered poster for his upcoming film project The Belko Experiment. The movie looks like it's going to be a bloody and violent good time, and you can watch the red-band trailer for it below. The poster, which features someone killing person with a tape dispenser, was posted on Facebook and it came with a hilarious note from Gunn telling people to tag the last person they'd kill in their office workplace to show them how much they love them! Here's what he said:

"Check out this exclusive first look at The Belko Experiment movie poster! This is the film I wrote and produced in-between Guardians movies, about a group of expatriates office workers locked in a building in South America and forced to kill one another. Tag the last person you'd kill in your workplace below and let them know you love them. Me? In my workplace, I'd kill Michael Rooker first and Sean Gunn last.

Belko is good, clean, incredibly intense, and bloody fun, and if you live in the US or Canada you can see it everywhere on March 17."

The film has a great cast that includes Tony Goldwyn, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Adria Arjona, John Gallagher Jr., John C. McGinley, David Dastmalchian, and Melonie Diaz.

The movie was directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) and is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 17, 2017. Here's the trailer.
