The CW Is Developing a Reboot of CHARMED Set in 1976

Those of you who were fans of the WB series Charmed, will be happy to hear that The CW is is developing a reboot of the hit fantasy series. Charmed starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Shannen Doherty, and Rose McGowan and ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006.

The actresses played sisters who were known as the "Charmed Ones," and they used witchcraft and magic to battle evil. According to Variety, the revival is being developed by Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Urman. She will be writing the series with Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, who have both worked with her on Jane the Virgin.

At this point, the series only has a script order commitment, but if the network and studio like how that turns out then they'll obviously move forward with a pilot order. There's no information on what this Charmed reboot will entail, but the report does say that it will be a reimagining of the original series that will be set in the year 1976.

I don't imagine that Milano, Marie, Doherty, or McGowan will be a part of the reboot, but we'll just have to wait and see about that.

STRANGER THINGS Theme Song Remixed With The Weeknd's STARBOY

We're right in that zone of rotation for The Weeknd's "Starboy" that you could either be sick to death of hearing it so many times on the radio or still super psyched to groove to it whenever it comes on. But The Awesomer has pointed us to this cool remix that combines it with the Stranger Things theme song, which gives it a fresh new vibe that either camp can enjoy. What do you think — do you dig it?

Here's Ryan Gosling as DOCTOR STRANGE in Early Concept Art

Before Benedict Cumberbatch was cast in the role of Stephen Strange in Marvel's Doctor Strange, the studio was looking at actors such as Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, and Ryan Gosling. I thought Cumberbatch was the perfect choice, but in case you're wondering it Strange would have looked like had Gosling landed the role, here's a piece of early concept art that was created by artist Court Chu for the studio. The artist posted the art on his website with the following comment:

“I worked probably not even a day on some version of Doctor Strange years ago, and back then they wanted Gosling.”

Sounds like Marvel's thoughts of casting Gosling went out the window when they saw this concept art. I enjoy Gosling and his work, but he definitely would not have been the right actor to play Strange. It's interesting and cool to see an artist's rendition of what Gosling would look like as the Sorcerer Supreme, though!

It's been a little while since the Comedy Central hit Key & Peele wrapped up its run, but since then, the duo have made one movie together, and Jordan Peele is directing an awesome-looking horror film that's set for release this year. But with President Obama just days away from vacating The White House, the pair have returned to their old network and did a quick guest spot on The Daily Show, resurrecting a couple of their classic characters to give the President one final send-off. For the last (?) time, here's Obama and his Anger Translator, Luther:

Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy Look to Join the Crime Thriller TRIPLE FRONTIER

Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy are looking to join Paramount Picture's crime thriller Triple Frontier. The film was originally supposed to be directed by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty) with Tom Hanks, Will Smith, and Johnny Depp circling the project.

With this kind of star power trying to jump on the project, the script has got to be awesome! The film was written by Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty), and the movie is now being directed by J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year).

There aren't many details on the plot of the film, but we do know that it's set in the organized crime haven that exists in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. There are also five main roles that need to be filled.

Tatum and Hardy seem like they would make for a solid team-up for a movie like this. Both are talented actors that could do some damage together.

Whoa: Jyn Erso Might Have Grown Up in Padme Amidala's Apartment Complex

$

Here's a crazy piece of Star Wars lore that even the most dedicated fans probably missed: Rogue One heroine Jyn Erso may have lived in the same apartment complex as Padme Amidala on Coruscant. How do we know? The Inverse points us to a tweet from eagle-eyed Twitter user @manyymedia that blew my mind:

If you're still trying to figure out what and when and how, let me bring you up to speed. Rogue One opens with a flashback of young Jyn Erso watching her mom get gunned down in front of her, but later in the film, there's a different flashback that reveals a moment even earlier in her life, as she walks through a sleek-looking apartment complex on Coruscant. Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is there with her parents, and she talks to her father Galen (Mads Mikkelsen), who's decked out in a slick Imperial uniform.

The Inverse breaks it down and surmises that at the moment we see Coruscant in Rogue One, Jyn could have conceivably gone to a different floor and visited Padme and Anakin:

If you do a little sleuthing in the convoluted Star Wars timeline, it seems to suggest that the Ersos and Padme could have been there at the same time.
The Rogue One prequel novel, Catalyst, which features Galen and his family’s Imperial drama with Krennic on Coruscant, takes place a year after Attack of the Clones when Padme sets up shop in her senatorial apartment building on Coruscant. She’s still there three years later when the events of Revenge of the Sith occur.

The people who work on the Star Wars movies might be even more obsessive than online fans, so it strikes me as totally plausible that this is a designed, purposeful choice. The alternative — that someone threw that in as a background without giving it a second thought — just doesn't seem like something that would happen in Lucasfilm's post-Disney acquisition world where everything is connected and a new canon is being meticulously built from the ground up.

What do you think?

Chilling Trailer for DARK NIGHT, Inspired by Aurora Theater Shooting

A new film seeks to immerse viewers in the minds of those affected by the 2012 theater shootings in Aurora, Colorado. Dark Night is a very loose adaptation of the events leading up to the fateful night when a shooter entered a screening of The Dark Knight Rises and killed 12 people. Check out the trailer and continue on below...

The film will follow six people, including the shooter, as they live out their day leading up to the shooting that night. The film is definitely more arthouse style than thriller, so if you plan on seeing it, know what you're getting into first. The film is set to open February 3rd in select theaters.

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Darth Vader Sideshow Collectibles Action Figure Review

star-wars-rogue-one-darth-vader-sideshow-collectibles-action-figure-review-social.jpg

Sideshow Collectibles recently sent me their badass 1/6th scale collectible action figure for Darth Vader from Star Wars: Rogue One to review, so I happily obliged! I'm not going to turn down the opportunity to review an incredible Darth Vader action figure, and this thing is amazing!

This is seriously the ultimate Darth Vader collectible and any hardcore Star Wars fan who collects toys would just throw their money at it to get it. I did an unboxing video review for it that you can watch below. A few people didn't want me to open it or take it out of the box, and as much as I don't want to I have to so that I can actually review it and play with it.

I'll be honest, it's actually kind of refreshing to open it up and play with it a bit! That's all part of the joy of getting a new toy! Sure, the value of it goes down, but holding the Darth Vader figure in your hands and actually feeling the material and getting a close look at all the details is so worth it.

Hot Toys and Sideshow put a lot of work and effort into creating these figures; it would be a shame if no one ever took them out of the box! But I completely understand not doing that, and I have a ton of figures that I've spent money on that have never been opened.

Anyway, these guys did a spectacular job creating this figure for Darth Vader. It stands at 35 cm tall and has a body with over 30 points of articulation. It also comes with nine interchangeable hands with different dynamics. Vader comes complete with his finely detailed lightsaber and his function belt that actually has an LED light-up function.

The newly designed suit and armor on Vader is tailored to fit the figure perfectly, and it comes with the black cloak that I forgot about until I tried taking the figure out of the box, and it was kinda stuck. It's at that moment I realized that this is the first Hot Toys or Sideshow figure that I own that has a cape because I clearly didn't know what I was doing when I was taking it out of the box.

This is the ultimate Darth Vader collectible, and if you haven't ordered one yet then you missed out on something special. I wouldn't worry, though. I'm sure they'll make another Darth Vader figure! Below the video you'll find a collection of photos I took of the figure.

Darth Vader returns in force this year with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! The epic space saga film takes place just before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, a time when the Galactic Empire is at the peak of its power, whereas the fledgling Rebel Alliance plots to thwart the Empire's plan to build a moon-sized battle station. As the Emperor's top enforcer and the symbol of the Empire's reign of terror, Lord Vader will crush the Rebels by any means necessary.

While fans worldwide are holding their breath to experience the new film, Sideshow and Hot Toys are here to unleash the power of the Dark Side with the new sixth scale Darth Vader collectible figure!

The movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted featuring a newly developed body and armor, a new highly polished helmet sculpt, a sophisticatedly tailored and delicately textured costume, a utility belt with LED lights, a lightsaber hilt, and a Death Star theme figure stand.

Cool Collection of New Photos From Kevin Smith's SUPERGIRL LIVES

The CW has released a bunch of cool photos from the Kevin Smith-directed mid-season premiere of Supergirl, "Supergirl Lives." A couple weeks ago we saw the first promo spot for the episode, and it looks like it's going to be great. I love that Smith is involved with directing episodes of these DC series.

In the upcoming episode, Supergirl finds herself going up against Roulette and brings Mon-El along for the ride. The new photos feature these characters and also include a few behind-the-scenes shots of Smith and Melissa Benoist working on the episode.

KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman).
To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.

"Supergirl Lives" is set to air on January 23rd.

Nearly 30 Minute Supercut of Jim Halpert's Faces in THE OFFICE

$

NBC's American version of The Office stuck around for a couple of years longer than it probably should have, but there was a long stretch of time in which that show was at the top of its game and was one of the best comedies on television. I think one of the aspects that helped retain its audience during its nine-season run was the knowledge that you were never too far from a Jim Halpert reaction shot. John Krasinski, the show's primary straight man, was surrounded by so many crazy characters that we typically got at least one of his bemused, sarcastic, satisfied, or surprised looks to the camera every episode, and I think it helped ingratiate the audience into feeling like they were friends with these people and it kept bringing them back to watch the next episode (that, and the show was often laugh-out-loud funny).

LaughingSquid points us to this almost 30-minute supercut from YouTuber Kelli M who compiled nearly every one of Jim's reaction faces over the course of the show.

First Look and Details on Marvel Comics' ALL NEW GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

first-look-and-details-for-marvel-comics-all-new-guardians-of-the-galaxy1

Marvel Comics has officially announced their new series All New Guardians of the Galaxy. The comic comes from writer Gerry Duggan (DeadpoolNova), artist Aaron Kuder (Death of X), and colorist Ive Svorcina (Secret Wars).

The original character roster of Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax are all set to return. There are a few interesting changes with some of the characters, such as Groot apparently being stuck in his tiny form with no one able to explain why he isn't regenerating, Then there's Drax the Destroyer, who is now Drax the Pacifist. According to CB:

The series will pick up some time after 'Grounded,' the final arc of the current Guardians of the Galaxy series. All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #1 kicks off with the Guardians on a job and embroiled in a war between two of the Elders of the Universe, the Collector and the Grandmaster.

Duggan said about the series:

"We want to put these guys into new cosmic situations. We're right in the middle of a heist in the first issue. I think, even though they're functioning well as a team, they're each looking forward to handling their own business, so they might be feeling gravity's pull apart. They have a lot going on individually and I'm really excited to explore that.
"Aaron and I have a really fun introduction to this team in the first issue cooked up, and we'll see that they are handling this heist as best they can, that it’s complicated, and it gets very cosmic."

He then offered some more details on the characters in the series explaining:

"We have some mysteries brewing out in space. When our story picks up, Groot is small and doesn't seem to be growing large. We don't quite know why. The Guardians don't know why. The readers won't have very long to find that will be a problem moving forward, in a fun way, I hope.
"Drax is done destroying. Something has happened to him to that has made him leave his swords down. Drax is still Drax. He wants to destroy, he's just holding back for now. It's a fun turn for him as he struggles with pacifism like an alcoholic might struggle in a bar.
"For many years now we've heard about the Collector's collection and how that's the best collection of the galaxy, and it has the most valuable and unique and wondrous things. That's true to a point, but the Grandmaster also has another collection. By giving the Collector a rival, we now have an opportunity to really make trouble for the Guardians. And so, this first arc is very much a war between the Collector and the Grandmaster over artifacts that they both want for their collection, and there can only be one winner. It feels right to open up in a big way with those amazing Marvel Universe cosmic entities. It's going to be a lot of fun.
"The story begins as the team is mid-job. They're initially hired by one side and then compromised. They each have their own reason for wanting a big score.
"The Guardians’ escape from that arc, too, is going to be something I don't think anyone will see coming. It's very Guardians."

Make sure to click here to read the full interview, because this is just the tip of the iceberg. It sounds like it could be a fun and entertaining series to read! The comic will be released this May.

ROGUE ONE's Cassian Andor Could Pop Up in the HAN SOLO Movie

$

It's looking like we might not have seen the last of Diego Luna's character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Cassian Andor. There's a good chance he might show up again in Phil Lord and Chris Miller's Han Solo standalone film!

Luna was recently stopped on the red carpet by MTV and talked about how happy he was with the final cut of Rogue One, saying it's the best version that exists. He was then straight up asked if there was a chance we could see him pop up in the Han Solo movie, and instead of saying no, he lit up, and the way he skirted around the answering the question seems very telling.

If you watch the video below you'll see what I mean. It's just very suspicious, and he certainly acted like he knew something that he wasn't allowed to confirm. If he's not in the movie he could have easily just said no, but instead, after acting weird, he said that he “doesn’t have an answer for that.”

To me, that means there's a very good chance they are planning to use him in the film. I hope so! I really did like his character, and it would make sense to see him in a Han Solo movie. Cassian is just one of those shady characters who would fit right in with the kind of people that Solo would hang out with.

I doubt he'll have a big role in the film. I imagine it would just be a cameo, but you never know! It would just be cool to see him back in the Star Wars universe.

This Laser-Filled Exhibition Would Be a Cat Burglar's Worst Nightmare

$

In heist movies, cat burglars are always doing cool things like dramatically blowing powder onto hidden lasers and performing crazy physical moves in order to get past them and steal their prize. Remember that famous scene from Entrapment?

Or the not-so-famous one from Ocean's Twelve?

Well, here's a real-life version of one of those laser-filled rooms, which I'd have to imagine would be a nightmare for a thief who was trying to steal something. It's called Outlines, but was never available to the public because it was set to appear in a Russian festival that was ultimately cancelled. That's a bummer, but at least someone got in there with a camera, because this thing looks trippy in the best way. Check it out.

Trailer for Studio Ghibli's Amazon Anime Series RONJA, THE ROBBER'S DAUGHTER

Amazon has released the first trailer for their anime series Ronja, The Robbers Daughter which is presented by the legendary anime studio Studio Ghibli. The fantastic looking series is based on the children's fantasy book written by Astrid Lindgren, who is also the author of Pippi Longstocking.

The series is narrated by The X-FilesGillian Anderson, and it was directed by Gorō Miyazaki (Up on Poppy Hill, Tales from Earthsea). The story tells the tale of a thief's 10-year-old daughter named Ronja, described as a strong and spirited girl, who is beloved by everyone. "Driven by her thirst for adventure, she comes face-to-face with wondrous creatures who inhabit the forest and finds a most unlikely friend - the son of her father's rival."

Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter is an epic 26-part story of 10-year-old Ronja (Teresa Gallagher), born on a stormy night in a mountain fort, surrounded by her father (Rufus Hound), mother (Morwenna Banks) and a loving band of robbers. She grows to be a strong girl, and discovers that the forest is both a beautiful and frightening place inhabited by strange creatures. She befriends Birk (Kelly Adams), the son of her father’s rival, and so begins the drama of her friendship and family loyalties. Viewers follow along as she explores and understands these key factors in her life, and discovers that seemingly irresolvable choices can finally be made with the help of love and understanding.

Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter is already a big hit in Japan, and now the rest of the world will be able to enjoy it. When talking about the series Miyazaki said:

“With Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter, Astrid Lindgren seems to be telling children to believe in their own power to grow, whilst telling adults to learn more from children. Mutual respect will attain freedom in the true sense of the word.”

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on January 27th, and I can't wait to watch it.

The Coen Brothers Will Write and Direct the TV Series THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS

Joel and Ethan Coen are about to embark on a new adventure as they are set to write and direct their first TV series, an original project called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. This is an event anthology series that is set in the Old West.

According to Variety, Annapurna Television "intends to pursue an innovative approach that could combine television and theatrical." There's no information on how that will all play out. At this time they will shoot it as a limited series because the story is too big and challenging to be covered in a single film. It sounds like they will be doing the same thing with it that is being done with Stephen King's The Dark Tower. Maybe the majority of the series will screen on TV and then the final two hours will be presented in movie form?

There are no story details to share regarding The Ballad of Buster Scruggs at this time, but it's said that it will intertwine six different story lines set in the Old West. I'm a huge fan of these filmmakers, and I love their movies, so I can't wait to see what they are planning!
