I'm not sure there are too many people who hated on the release of Finding Dory, but in case there were, we present this. CinemaWins is back again with another counter to their popular series CinemaSins, and this time they highlight the Pixar sequel to Finding Nemo! If you haven't watched any of these new videos and you hate CinemaSins...you're probably going to love this! Then again, we tend to rain positivity on the site, so we may be a bit biased.

Japanese Girls Play Tag in an Increasingly Crazy Parkour Video

If I wasn't sure this video was fake when they jumped four stories onto a van, the girl turning into a ninja log clued me in. While a chunk of this video is well shot and created using effects, there's some solid parkour as well! I wish I could do a backflip period, let alone three in succession! See the wild video below!

Marco Beltrami Is Scoring LOGAN; James Mangold Calls It "A Movie For Grownups"

At one point, Requiem For a Dream director Darren Aronofsky was going to make a Wolverine movie. That ended up falling through, but it appeared as though one of Aronofsky's longtime collaborators, composer Cliff Martinez, was going to get his claws on the property when he was hired to provide the score for James Mangold's Logan. But according to a tweet from Mangold (found by FilmMusicReporter), his 3:10 to Yuma composer Marco Beltrami is the one scoring Logan. No word yet on whether or not Beltrami and Martinez are collaborating on the film's score, but that outcome seems unlikely.

Elsewhere, Mangold spoke about his aspirations for Logan, what he's trying to do with the movie, and how it's a film made with an older audience in mind than your typical superhero fare. It makes sense, considering how star Hugh Jackman first portrayed the character all the way back in 2000. X-Men's target audience has grown up, so there's no point in making another Wolverine movie aimed at younger teenagers right now.

"Logan is an attempt to bring an end to the line of Hugh's amazing performance as Wolverine. The ambition of doing that is to try to make an adult film about Wolverine, to make a movie for grownups. We're not trying to make a four-box, 'something for everyone.' We're trying to make a movie that stands out and is different because it's a grown up drama that also features intense action."

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Star Tom Holland Shares Touching Video of Children’s Hospital Visit

Actor Tom Holland recently shared a wonderfully touching and inspiring video of a visit he made to a children’s hospital. It really quite moving to see him bringing so much joy and happiness into the lives of these kids.

Yeah, it’s cool to see new stuff from the films that Marvel is making, and it’s fun to talk, speculate, and debate about these movies, but seeing the actors involved with stuff like this, trying to make the world a better place with the opportunities they’ve been given, is just as gratifying. Not only are many of the Marvel actors heroes on the big screen, but they are heroes in real life as well.

This motivates me, and this kind of stuff inspires me to want to make the world a better place. We’ve got a fresh new start in 2017… Let's make it happen!

Happy new year everyone and especially to all the little legends we met that day. We'll see you soon 💪🏼Let's go 2017!! #spidermanhomecoming @hazosterfield @lifeisaloha

5 New Promo Spots for Gore Verbinski’s Insane New Film A CURE FOR WELLNESS

I’m incredibly excited for Gore Verbinski’s upcoming new psychological horror film A Cure For Wellness. I love movies that focus on the subject matter of insanity, and that’s exactly what's going on here! It looks like a very unsettling story, and I’m excited to see how it plays out.

We’ve got five new promo spots for you to watch today that were released to correspond with the new year. Hopefully, 2017 isn’t as wickedly insane as this movie looks. We need a great year!

An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company's CEO from an idyllic but mysterious "wellness center" at a remote location in the Swiss Alps.  He soon suspects that the spa's miraculous treatments are not what they seem.  When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure.

The film stars Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter), and Mia Goth (The Survivalist, Nymphomaniac). It's set to be released in theaters on February 17th, 2017.

Someone Made a Fully Functioning NERF Gun Out of LEGO Pieces

If you grew up in the '80s and '90s, there's a good chance you spent countless hours playing with LEGO and Nerf guns. Now, the YouTubers over at AstonishingStudios (via NerdApproved) have combined those two interests into one impressive result: a fully functioning replica of a Nerf Maverick REV-6 made completely out of LEGO bricks. Watch the video below, and ring in 2017 with a Harambe joke — because that's apparently still a thing.

Watch Justin Lin's Live-Action Reimagining of Classic Cartoon THE JETSONS

A live-action feature film adaptation of The Jetsons has been in and out of development for years. Robert Rodriguez was the most recent director attached to it, but he ended up dropping out of the project. I'm sure that one day Hollywood will get around to doing it, but until then, you can watch a commercial created by Fast and Furious franchise and Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin that brings the world of The Jetsons and its classic characters to life. He did a great job with it, and I think that maybe he should direct the movie!

The commercial was produced by Arconic, and when talking about why they chose The Jetsons as the theme for their commercial, they explained:

The Jetsons sci-fi cartoon series launched in 1962 and was set 100 years in the future. An instant hit, it presented an entertaining yet surprisingly forward-thinking vision of 2062. It’s amazing to see how much The Jetsons got right, predicting things like smartwatches, tablets and 3D printing; and that made us wonder what else might still be in store. Flying cars? Extraordinary buildings? So we gathered a brain trust of leading futurists and our own engineers to share their thoughts on what Arconic could help realize in 2062, and brought their vision to life with the help of film director Justin Lin.

I also included a behind-the-scenes video for you to check out for the impressive commercial. It features Lin talking about the ad and working with the Arconic engineers and futurists that helped him create the year 2062.

STAR TREK Fan Spends 6 Years Building Badass LEGO Bird of Prey

In 2010 a Star Trek fan and LEGO builder by the name of Kevin J. Walter started building a Klingon Bird of Prey ship out of LEGO bricks. Six years later it’s complete, and it’s seriously one of the most badass LEGO builds ever!

He used 25,000 bricks to complete the project, and the attention to detail is insanely stunning. I’ve always loved the design of the Bird of Prey ship, and I’m seriously blown away by how awesome this build turned out. I love everything about it! When talking about his creation, Walter says:

"The Klingon Bird of Prey is, since I can think of, my favorite Spaceship-design and as well the one, which inspired me the most in my childhood and all my own spaceship Models.
"After completing the BoP as virtual Model (2008-2010), it was always a dream of me to build it some time with real bricks. I'm really lucky the dream became true six years later!
"Really just in time to celebrate and tribute with it the 50th anniversary of Star Trek this year as well as the 30th anniversary of "Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home" where the BoP is (at least for me) the big star on screen... aside with George and Gracie."

You can see more photos of the ship here along with some “work in progress” shots.

The Release Date for Lucasfilm's HAN SOLO Movie Rumored to Be Pushed Back

0
0

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have yet to start shooting their Han Solo movie. With Alden Ehrenreich taking on the role of Han Solo, Donald Glover playing Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke cast in a lead female role, fans are excited to see how this film turns out.

According to Making Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney originally planned on releasing the Han Solo movie on May 25, 2018. Now they are hearing from their sources that the release date may have been pushed back to December 13, 2018. That's a long delay, but it will make for an exciting Christmas present for fans if it's true.

The studio hasn't confirmed or denied this news, so at the moment we'll treat this all as a rumor. I'd rather not have to wait an extra six months to see this movie, but if they are pushing it back to make sure we get the best Han Solo film possible, then I'm ok with it.

ROGUE ONE Director Gareth Edwards Discusses Darth Vader, Missing Trailer Scenes, and Opening Crawl

0
0

During a recent interview with Empire, director Gareth Edwards talked about aspects of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The film is still blowing up at the box office, and for the most part, fans are loving it! There are a few naysayers out there, but what can you do?

Edwards talked about a few aspects of the film that have been hot topics of conversation since its been release including the awesomeness of Darth Vader, the lack of an opening crawl, and the scenes in the trailer that were cut from the final version of the film.

About Darth Vader and coming up with his big reveal moment, he said:

"I'm jealous of moments like in Empire Strikes Back where you see the back of [Vader’s] head and you just go, 'oh my God, that is so cool,' and wanted to try and find something like that in our film...He’s really a burns victim, and it’s not going to be fun for him when he’s not in the suit – he’s going to be uncomfortable. I love the idea of showing that he’s vulnerable as well. Vader’s very, very bad, and so you try and just glimpse something of him that gives him some humanity, or it makes you empathize with him. Just seeing those scars and realizing that he’s, you know, an amputee, and just reminding you of that before he does all his stuff, it makes you torn, I think."

I absolutely loved the reveal of Vader in the film. There was a mix of oohs, aahs, and gasps from the audience in the theater when I saw the movie. It was definitely one of those exciting goosebump moments. The director also talked about the opening crawl and revealed that Gary Whitta actually wrote one in the first draft of the script!

"The first screenplay that Gary Whitta wrote had a crawl in it...and then at some point, probably like six months before we were filming, we were in a meeting, and they talked about not having an opening crawl, because these are standalone films, not part of the sagas. And if I'm honest, there was an initial kind of like, 'whaaaa? I want the crawl!'

He explained why it was ultimately cut from the film:

"The opening sequence is kind of the crawl of our movie. It's like the setup. And our film is also born out of a crawl – the reason we exist is because of a previous crawl, so it feels like this infinite loop that will never end."

I'm completely fine with there not being an opening crawl, but I would still love to read what Whitta wrote up for it! Edwards goes on to talk about the footage in the trailers that were ultimately cut from the film. He explains that they were just cool shots that the marketing team wanted to use to use to help sell the film. They were already well aware that these shots were not in the movie, but that didn't stop them from using them.

"There was a bit of a process to refining the third act in terms of the specific shots and moments, and so certain things just fell away. But then what happens is marketing love those shots, and go, 'oh, we've got to use that.' And you say, 'well, it's not in the movie'. And they say, 'it's okay, it's what marketing does, we just use the best of whatever you've done.' And so there's lots of little things, but towards the end you go, 'I know that's not in the film, but the spirit of it's in the film'."

This is something that we've seen happen a lot over the years with movie trailers containing footage that wasn't in the final cut, but it was a big deal with Rogue One because it was a Star Wars film!

Cruise Into 2017 With This Video of a Jet-Powered Snowboard

We recently wrote about The Hacksmith's adventures recreating Batman's iconic grappling hook, and now he's back to kick off the new year with an even "cooler" piece of gear: a jet-powered snowboard. OK, so technically it's not actually a jet engine strapped to the board, but it's close enough in my book — and still impressive that he was able to put this thing together in the first place. It looks like it'd be a ton of fun to zoom around on this bad boy.

New Trailer for FIFTY SHADES DARKER - "Every Fairy Tale Has a Dark Side"

0
0

Another trailer has been released for Fifty Shades Darker that shows off some hot and steamy shower sex clips mixed with some ridiculously bad dialogue. You've got to be a special kind of talented to write dialogue like this. It's crazy to me how popular this franchise is. I guess there are a lot of people out there who have deeply rooted S&M fantasies? It's certainly not popular for the quality writing!

When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.

Fifty Shades Darker was directed by James Foley (Fear, House of Cards) and stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. The movie will be released on February 10, 2017.

Comic: ROGUE ONE vs. THE PHANTOM MENACE

0
0

Disney and Lucasfilm's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is still the number one movie in America, and fans are going to be talking about it for a long time to come. So it's no surprise that the team over at Dorkly has already cranked out a new comic strip comparing Gareth Edwards' new film to one of those other famous prequels, Episode I: The Phantom Menace. It definitely seems like the Lucasfilm people learned a couple of good lessons from the mistakes of their past...either that, or (and I hate to say it, but...) maybe this is just what happens when George Lucas doesn't have his hands in the pot anymore.

THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE Renewed for a Third Season

Amazon's most successful series, The Man In High Castle, is officially getting a third season! The Americans and Nazis will continue their battle as Variety reports Eric Overmyer will take over the reigns as showrunner for the season. Overmyer, who has worked on shows such as Treme and The Affair, steps in for Frank Spotnitz, who left the show in the midst of the second season.

There is no word as to when season three will be on the streaming service.

David Lynch's TWIN PEAKS Revival Might Get a Surprise Screening at Sundance

There's still no word on when David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival will premiere on Showtime, but according to Deadline, there's a chance that it might get a surprise screening at the Sundance Film Festival later this month!

They say that there have been discussions for the new version of the insane acclaimed 1990s series to be showcased at the film fest. I hope it happens because I would freakin' love to see whatever they've got to show! I love Twin Peaks, and it's crazy and exciting that the story will continue after all these years. I never thought in a million years that would happen after the original series ended.

This wouldn't be the first time that a special event TV series would premiere at Sundance. Last year, they premiered the first two episodes of the Stephen King, J.J. Abrams, and James Franco Hulu series 11/22/63, which was a lot of fun. I hope they do same thing with Twin Peaks

No story details regarding the series have been released, but we do know that it's set 25 years after the events of the original series, which centered around the wacky, strange residents of a Pacific Northwest town and the murder of a young girl named Laura Palmer.

Kyle MacLachlan returns as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in the series along with several other original cast members including Lynch himself in a role as FBI Agent Gordon Cole. We got to watch him eat a donut in the latest promo spot!
