Kevin Costner Has Been Working on a 10-Hour Western That He Wants to Direct

0
0

Ever since Kevin Costner starred in the History Channel's Hatfields & McCoys, he saw a major boost in his career. It's been great to see him in the movies again, but one thing I'd love to see him get back into is directing. The last film he directed was Open Range, and that was 13 years ago. Before that, he directed The Postman and won an Acadamy Award for his directing work on Dances With Wolves in 1991.

It looks like we might actually get to see him direct again as he's been working on an ambitious 10 hour long western! This is a story that could be told over multiple films or a TV series. He told Variety:

"I’ve been working on it. It’s about 10 hours long, how about that? Maybe I’ll make three features out of it. There’s a fourth one, too, so it’s truly a saga. I could do TV, or I could also make it like every six months, have a big western that’s tied together like [Claude Berri’s 1986 film] Jean de Florette and [1987 film] Manon of the Spring. I think those are fun to watch."

I would love to see this happen! I'd like to think that Costner would give us something incredible and epic. One thing is for sure, Costner does intend to direct more. In a separate interview with Vulture, the filmmaker said:

"I have another Western I’ve co-written with some people, and I would like to play out the second half of my career directing more. I’ve constantly given the movies I’ve found to directors who I thought could do it better, but there are a lot of voices in my ear from my family saying, ‘You need to direct the movies you fall in love with.’ So I think I will."

Good. Costner has the talent and ability to create and tell stories that audiences will love. As a longtime fan of the western genre, I really hope that he gets to make these films sooner rather than later.

Trailer for Elle Fanning and Dane DeHaan's 19th Century Set Animated Film LEAP!

The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer for their upcoming animated adventure film Leap! The movie features the voices of Elle Fanning and Dane DeHaan as they attempt to live out their dreams. Fanning's character want to be a ballerina, and DeHaan's character is an aspiring inventor who wants to fly.

Unfortunately, the movie doesn't look very good, but it's something that kids would probably enjoy if any parents out there end up taking them to see it. It looks like something that should have gone straight to DVD/VOD.

Paris, 1884. An orphaned girl arrives in Paris from Brittany. Félicie Milliner is 11 and has no money but one big, passionate dream: to become a dancer. With nothing left to lose, Félicie takes a big risk: she ‘borrows’ a spoiled brats identity and enters the Opera Ballet School. But how long can she be someone else? Mentored by the tough and mysterious cleaner, Odette , Félicie learns that talent is not enough – it takes hard work to be better than her ruthless, conniving fellow students. That and friendship. Felicie’s inventive, exhausting and charismatic best friend Victor also has a dream: becoming a famous inventor. Together, they both encourage each other to reach for the stars.

Leap is set to be theaters on March 3, 2017.

Hilarious Fan Art Brings the Classic Batman Jingle Bells Christmas Song to Life

hilarious-fan-art-brings-the-classic-batman-jingle-bells-christmas-song-to-life

I know Christmas is already passed, but I just came across this Batman fan art that I had to share with you. It basically gives us a hilarious visualization of what the classic Batman Jingle Bells Christmas song would look like. It has a smelly Batman replacing the wheel that he lost, Robin looking confused about laying an egg, and the Joker getting away. The art was done by Mauricio Abril, and here's The Joker singing the song in Batman: The Animated Series!

Rare 1974 Blooper Footage From THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

If you're a fan of the classic horror film Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you've got to watch this rare 1974 footage from the set of the film featuring some bloopers. I've gotta say, it's actually pretty awkward.

There's not a lot of funny stuff here. It's mostly just the actors messing up their lines, but it's interesting to see some raw footage of this before the music and sound effects were added to it to actually make it scary because there's nothing scary about this... it's just weird. It also gives us a real sense of just how low-budget this iconic horror film was. Check it out!

Here's What 2016 Would Look Like As a Horror Movie

0
0

We've experienced some major celebrity deaths in 2016, but I don't know about you, but I'm getting really tired of people blaming the year itself as if it's some sort of sentient creature stalking our icons and taking them away too soon. But instead of making a "clever" quip on Twitter about it, the team at Friend Dog Studios actually came up with a creative way to channel their displeasure with the past twelve months: imagining what a horror movie might look like that did feature 2016 as a personified, sentient killer. My favorite part? The slowed down, creepy cover of "Auld Lang Syne" — that's another cliche that should go away immediately, but it's still in full swing and it works exceptionally well here.

According to Ben Mendelsohn There Are "Enormously Different" Versions of STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE

0
0

We all know about the drastic reshoots that were done for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. A lot of the footage that was replaced can be seen in the trailers that were released for the film. A lot of that footage was part of the final act of the film. There was obviously a different outcome of the story. We don't know the details on what this original ending entailed, but in an interview with Collider, actor Ben Mendelsohn, who played Director Orson Krennic, said that there's an "enormously different" version of the story that exists. He explains:

"We did have multiple, multiple ways of going at any given scenario, we had multiple readings of it. So should they ever decide to, there would be a wealth of ways of approaching these different things. And I know from having seen sort of the crucial kind of scenes throughout it, I know there’s vastly different readings of at least four of those scenes."

He was then asked if there was an alternate version of the story that exists because of the differences and his response was:

"Absolutely [there is a different version], with enormous differences within I would’ve said 20 or 30 of the scenes. There really would be. There would be enormously different renderings."

I would really love to see the different scenarios of how this movie could have played out. I hope that they will include all of this alternate footage on the Blu-ray. Hell, would it be cool if they actually recut the different versions of the film using that unused footage!? That would be awesome! I doubt it'll ever happen, though.

Deadpool and Wolverine May Actually Appear Together in a Future Film Project

Fan Art by Dave Paget

Earlier this week it was rumored that Deadpool would make an appearance in director James Mangold's Logan. That was later debunked by the director and by actor Ryan Reynolds.

According to THR's Borys Kit, just because Deadpool isn't appearing in Logan doesn't mean that we won't eventually see them together on film. He recently sent out the following Tweet:

Well, he obviously thinks he knows something! What we know is that Reynolds wants to bring Hugh Jackman's Wolverine into his Deadpool sequel. However, Jackman has made it very clear that he's retiring from Wolverine after Logan. Maybe, just maybe, Jackman is considering some kind of cameo. It would be pretty badass if it happened, but we'll just have to wait and see.

THE GODFATHER Script-to-Screen Video Includes Coppola's Commentary on One of the Film's Most Famous Scenes

Everyone reading this has seen The Godfather (or at least I hope they have), but I've never seen a section of it broken down in quite this way before. Vimeo user Glass Distortion has a really great script to screen analysis video that plays out the scene in which Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) kills Sollozzo and McCluskey in the restaurant, and it not only includes the descriptions from the screenplay, but also some commentary from director Francis Ford Coppola that I'd never heard before. Heck, even if you're a Godfather connoisseur, this is still probably worth watching just to appreciate the staging and the way the tension in this famous sequence plays out.

The Final Trailer for LOGAN Is Being Released to Fans as 1,974 Film Frames

0
0

20th Century Fox has just launched a new website for Logan where fans can sign up to get a custom, limited-edition postcard featuring a single frame from the upcoming final trailer for the Logan movie. There are 1,974 film frames in this last trailer, and that's how many will be sent out to fans.

There is a significant meaning behind the 1974 frame count as it refers to the year that Wolverine made his first Marvel Comics appearance in The Incredible Hulk #180 and #181.

They are only giving away 1,974 unique frames, so if you want one, you better sign up for is now! You can do that right here. Once you receive your frame, you're supposed to share it online using #OneLastTime. I already signed up for mine!

This obviously means the final trailer will be released soon, so stay tuned for that! I'm excited to see what it entails! That first trailer was so powerful, and I hope this last trailer will offer fans something even better. Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.

HBO Moves Up Release Date of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds Documentary to Next Week

0
0

In light of their untimely deaths, HBO has decided to move up the release date of their documentary on Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. Deadline reports the documentary will now air January 7th. Bright Lights features the lives of both Fisher and Reynolds and centers on Reynolds' Vegas show and the two living together as performing begins to take its toll on Reynolds.

The film received high acclaim at Cannes prior to the actresses' passing, so at least this will feel more like an homage than a quick "strike while the iron is hot" deal that so many studios seem to jump on when stuff like this happens. Will you be watching the documentary when it airs?

Creator of Atari's E.T. Game Tells the Story of the Worst Video Game Ever

Here's a fun little animated video from Great Big Story, who spoke with Howard Scott Warshaw and asked him to tell the story of how he created E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari, which is a game that's been referred to as the worst video game in the history of the medium. That's a bold claim, but if you've played it, you'll know where the griping comes from. XBox produced a documentary about the game, but if you've never seen that, this is a nice primer, and you're getting the info straight from the horse's mouth.

Everything Wrong With Ryan Reynolds' DEADPOOL

0

It's been awhile since I've posted and "Everything Wrong" episode from CinemaSins, but here's a recent video that they released breaking down everything that's wrong with the film in 16-minutes or less. If you've ever watched these videos then you know how ridiculously nitpicky they are. In this particular episode, they point out 90 "sins".

Deadpool. Yeah, he kind of sins the movie himself, but that wasn't going to stop us from trying. No we didn't get Ryan Reynolds to guest--we didn't even ask; we didn't want to do what other channels had already done (and done well). No hard feelings, Mr. Reynolds.

The video would have been a lot better had they managed to get Ryan Reynolds to narrate it! He previously joined in on the fun for Screen Junkies' Honest Trailer.

Here's a Machine Gun That Fires 120 Paper Airplanes Per Minute

When I was kid I used to spend a lot of time making paper airplanes. I remember even buying a book that showed you all the different kinds of paper airplanes that people could make. It was a lot of fun! Boy oh boy, I wish I would have had a paper airplane machine gun when I was a kid!

Dieter Michael Krone created an awesome machine gun called the PFM-A5 and. All you have to do is put in 200 sheets of A5 paper into the back of the gun, and it folds up and shoots out 120 paper airplanes per minute. I've gotta say... that pretty impressive.  You can see the machine gun in action below!

Paul Blart Vs. Zombies in DAWN OF THE DEAD Mashup Trailer

Here's a great trailer mashup that pits Paul Blart Mall Cop against zombies from Dawn of the Dead. The mashup is almost too perfect. I've never been a big fan of the Paul Blart movies but It seems to make sense to pit him against a zombie horde in another sequel. I'd totally watch that movie! The video comes from Digital Spectrum Studios.

Ben Affleck Says He Won't Do THE BATMAN If the Film Doesn't Come Together

0
0

It sounds like Ben Affleck's The Batman is far from a done deal. In fact, he's ready and willing to walk away from the film if it doesn't come together the way he wants it to. During a recent interview with The Guardian, Affleck said:

"It’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

Good! Affleck has previously talked about his work on the film explaining that he's taking his time on it to make sure to get it right. Obviously, if he and his creative team can't crack a great story, he'll bow out of the project. He previously said:

"We still have to get a screenplay and get it together. I’m a real believer in not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather when you get the right story, the right idea, the right thing, then you make the movie. That’s what we’re doing, and I’m hoping to get that done. I’m spending a lot of time working on that, but also working on other stuff.
"If I could, there’s nothing I’d love more than to direct a stand-alone iconic, great Batman movie. But it’s been done. Chris Nolan did three really great movies. I’m mindful of that. I’m not in any hurry to jam the mediocre movie down the pipe. I really want to make sure, if we do it, we get the great version and one that’s worthy of tradition of guys like Tim Burton, Chris Nolan, and Christian Bale."

I really hope that he can figure it out, but he obviously hasn't seen anything that he's liked for it so far. If you ask me, he doesn't sound like he's very optimistic about it. He keeps saying he wants something great and that he doesn't want to write or direct anything that he doesn't think is "good enough to be made." If something great had been placed in front of him, he'd at least say that he has a story or idea that he want's to move forward with, but we haven't even seen that.

I hope he does come up with something, though, because I really think he's got it in him to make a great Batman film. If he does end up dropping out, I'd be curious to see how the studio would proceed without him.
